Mas'Daun ~~~ Current Events ~~~ Mas D'aun has a newly kindled ambition to find some way to claim the power of his House before his Matron dies. His first plan was the most simple to implement. Upon his Matrons death he would have the Gender Transformation Curse performed upon himself and claim he had been a female all along. That his Matron had cursed him initially into a male form to keep her only 'daughter' from killing her as she got older. However Mas D'aun has recenetly gained the attention of another handsome male mage, Taliesin. In the past Mas has been too shy or intimidated to approch another male in the pursuit of a companion. Taliesin proved to be the aggressor and Mas has found himself more then comfortable in the other males company. Due to this feeling of content, Mas is second guessing his descion to become a female, in the fear that Taliesin will reject him as a woman. While Mas struggles with the question which he wants more, Taliesin or the power of his House, he has found a female mage in which to corrospond with. Nick-named Tri-No, is a mage from a family that does not respect or overly care about her. Due to them living in seperate cities Mas is not threatened by the female and has become fond of writing to her. Mas struggles to control his younger brother Micarreth while he applies himself with a newfound interest in his magical studies. He has successfully created his own Mages staff, a gruesome thing crafted to look like a bunch of silver serpents all wound up around each other. In many of the snakes open mouths he has set a crystalized Beholder Eye, each one capable of casting a particular spell upon command in the direction the eye is gazing. ~~~ History ~~~ When you begin your life beliving you are a female, it tends to set certain things within you. You gain a certain sense of being. Mas has never compeletly let go of the sense he had gained from those first twenty years. Perhaps 'let go' is the wrong words to use, as they imply he has a conscious choice to make about the matter.
During those first twenty years, Mas was restricted to the grounds of the House. In the infant years this was no problem, as only the nursemaid who tended to him was the only person who saw him. As Mas grew to a toddler, with his hair grown long and garbed in dresses, there was no question amoung the servants or guards that Mas was not in fact a girl. For all the city that knew or cared, Mas was the first daughter of House Barrith. Mas himself did not even suspect a difference, due to the care and treatment he recieved. For a time there had even been lessons of preparation for him to eventually enter the priestesshood. It was only after Mas began to physically undergo the change to adolescence that Barrith recanted her descion on the upbringing of Mas. It was quite a mind breaking day, when Mas was sat down by his old nursemaid and explained to that he was in fact, a male.
Mas locked himself in his chambers for a good month following the news. Refusing to open the door to even his Matron. During this time it was rumored that Mas had taken his life and by the time the door was opened they would find nothing more then a badly rotting corpse. Such was not the case though. In the end the door was opened from within, and a very malnourished Mas shambled his way to the kitchen. What had he been doing behind his doors for that passing month? Mas would never answer the question when posed to him, even brooking defiance again to the Matron with his silence. Oddly though Barrith found his sullen expression something amusing, and after having a good laugh, sent the boy off.
Rumor spread throught the streets of yet one more oddity of House Barrith. Mas'Daun, first daughter of Barrith, had been irrevocably cursed into a male form as punishment by the Matron herself. Mas had in fact been just one of identical twins, and his 'sister' had sickened and died during that month. And just as often as the rest, that the insane Matron Barrith had raised a son like a daughter in blind denial of his born gender in the hopes Lloth would show favor and magically strike the male genetilla from her childs body.
Mas continued to exhibit a sullen attitude as he settled in slowly to his true genders role. He found it very difficult to acknowledge other females before himself after being taught for so long he was their equal. One of them. As a result Mas withdrew from the public scene, taking refuge behind the walls of his mothers House. His dreams of becoming a priestess had been falsely imbued and the loss of them, and his previous status, effected his ambition. In a word, Mas moped. There were other things that effected Mas as well, such as his interested in males. As Mas grew older, he became far more aware of the physical aspects of those around him, and he found that males were far more to his liking. Since the truth about his gender had been told to him, Mas had suffered a form of uncertainty and timidness. Thus making him seem weak willed. Mas has never been able to reveal his preference of males to those he has admired, mostly due out of fear of rejection.
With the addition of Quavvira to the household though, Mas has found himself under almost constant assault by the determined female. Not even his own home is safe anymore. His own halls and room offer no form of safty from the world. Quite often Quavv has managed to pin the trembling Mas in a corner, attempting to seduce the male that finds her unattractive but unable to actually speak the words that would infuriate the female. Instead he has had to squirm and run much like a coward, until it was he could take her pursuit no longer.
For the first time since he was a child, Mas has left the halls of House Barrith. Becoming a student of Wizardry, Mas has found, much to his shock, he possesses a talent for the arcane arts. He now applys himself with a fanatics fervor to his studies, hopeing to achive some sort of self confidence through the weilding of the arcane magics. This is not just for his own self confidence that he does this though. Mas knows his mother is close to Lloth's embrace, and it is only a matter of time before she passes onto the Spider Queen. When such a time comes, Quavvira will no longer have a reason to hold back her damands upon him, specifically if she has not yet been named a Daughter of the House. Added to this is his younger brothers disdain. he has seen often enough, the spiteful and disgusted looks the younger male has laid upon him. He knows, that as his brother grows older, that he may seek to remove Mas from his position as first son, so as to take it himself.

Mas D'auns Trinkets, Treasures, and Ties Chest Gemstone: This Tanzanite gemstone is fused to the skin upon Mas D'aun's chest. At the moment it serves no particular purpose. Forehead Gemstone: This magical Tanzanite gemstone is fused to the very bone of Mas D'auns skull. At a command it Cheek Gemstone This magical Tanzainte gemstone is fused to the skin of Mas D'aun's cheek. Upon command it activates the spell Blindsight, allowing Mas to see blindly for a total of 20 minutes. It may be used once a day. Serpent Eyes Staff This staff stands as tall an and is made of magically strengthened silver. The body of the staff appears to be tightly coiled serpent bodies. The head of the staff is a mass of serpent heads looking all towards the fore. Within the mouths of the serpent heads are set crystalized Beholder Eyes. Each eye contains the power to cast a spell upon command as they once had when they had been attached to the original Beholder. The following Spells are those that the staff can cast: Triel Nolu: A fellow mage as well as a female. She appears to have herself in a worse situation then Mas D'Aun. Her plight helps Mas realize how easy he has it himself, and from her troubles he draws a sense of strength and determination. Mas does not find her to be a great ally he can use to further himself, but rather someone that he can speak with candidly. He finds this to be far more useful and in a way enjoyable. Taliesin: Another mage, though one with a preference for male companions. Mas D'Aun favors company with Taliesin and finds himself craving the other males attention. Mas D'Aun's interest in Taliesin is torn between that of a lover and that of a ally. While he wish's to obtain Taliesin's favor, he struggles with his desire to make the most of their 'alliance' and keep his emotional distance from the male in the case the other should decide to move on; or allowing himself to grow comfortable with the other mage and encourageing something more from their current situation.

::House Barrith Stats:: City: Guallidurth Size: Medium Spire Rank: 15th House Noteables: Barrith possesses two Surface Raider Companies of exceptional talent and success. ((House map pending)) Barrith History The history of House Barrith is really no different then any other house if you overlook the dark streak of insanity that has plauged it for generations. The current Matron Barriths insanity is nothing new. Her mother before her was known to dress and treat all of her daughters as male until they had proven to her they were worthy of being considered female. All male children born by her had immediatly been gelded as the prevoius Marton refused to 'sully her house with male uselessness'. The previous Matron met her demise when a summoning for a demon mysteriously went awry.
The current Matron took her place as ruler after a brutal competition between herself and her other three sisters left two of them dead, and the third missing. Matron Barrith, for at this point she declared her name to be exactly that and had all records of the name given to her by her mother destroied, settled in to rule the very small family.
Barriths first decree was the sacrifice of all three of her gelded brothers to Lloth. Though it is suspected she had a fourth brother whom she had decided to sell into slavery on whim, this has never been proven.
Later on in her years, Barrith finally gave birth to her first son, Mas'daun. Her first words upon looking at the boy was "She was born wrong!" For the first twenty years of his life, Mas'daun was treated and dressed as a girl. When it became obvious the Goddess was not going to right this terrible birth deffect, Barrith seemed to accept the reality that her first child was indeed a male and Mas'daun found her/his world radically changed.
As the Matron continued to age, Her attempts to bare more children only produced one success. Micarreth was born to the great aged drowess, Yet another male. This time though Barrith seemed to accept this, and she continued her attempts to bare more children. Sadly this would not be the case, and as reality once more made itself clear to the Matroness, she seemed to opt for a alternative. It was at this point Quavvira was brought into the family flock. Plucked randomly from the street, the young Quavvira was roughly the same age as Mas'daun. She was brought to the House and told she would be adopted by the Matron if she proved herself worth of the name Barrith.
To date Matron Barrith has not officially adopted Quavirra, so the girl does not hold claim to the Barrith name, much to her vexation. The Matrons eccentricities continue to grow wilder as she ages. The Eccentricities of Matron Barrith Long has House Barrith held it's position as the 15th House of Guallidurth. A low House in ranking, Barrith has always had the potential to rise higher, yet due to the ruling ways of it's Matron it seems to have cemeted itself to the ranking it has achived. House Barrith is not known for great power, nor for sly manuvers and cunningly executed plans. Rather, House Barrith is known for it's unholy amount of wealth. Despite it's fabled dungeon sized coffer, House Barrith puts forth no great show of wealth. It's outward appearance is nearly plain to the eye. Inside the decor seems almost sparse. The central chamber itself has only a tapestry of the Spider Queen directing a army of grotesque demonic spiders in some vauge assult behind the plain looking stone throne.
Despite the lack of wealthy furnishings, House Barrith has other odditites that single it out from all other houses. All whom belong to House Barrith are required to wear dinstinct jester style uniforms. Guards are decked in red and black uniforms of studded leather and enchanted with magical hardness. Servants and maids are required to wear purple and blue cloth leotards and skirts, complete with belled jester hats. Slaves are required to wear green and yellow garments akin to the servants. There is no question as to who belongs to House Barrith in the markets.
Another oddity of House Barrith is the Naked Watch. A selection of six male drow form Matron Barriths personal guard. Naked is a more of a generalzation as each man wears only a skimpy man thong, each drow is tattoed from skull to foot with magical tattoos to enhance strength, speed, awareness, and fighting skills, amoung other things. The Naked Watch is always present with Matron Barrith, though not always in full numbers.
A third eccentricity that is believed to be more rumor then truth, is a dinner time ritual held by Matron Barrith. It is rumored the old drow has, for more then a few decades, forfitted her seat at the head of the table. The seat is still set, however, and served first before all others. The heart of a surface elf is always the prepared dish for this empty seat. Who is the seating and dish reserved for? Why... Lloth herself of course. The Coffers Rumors of House Barriths vault are quite false. There is no dungon sized coffer beneath the house of Barrith. There are three. Broken up into seperate vaults according to value, the immense wealth of Barrith is locked up quite tightly and magically protected with misdirection spells so as to confuse divinations and portaling attempts. Only Matron Barrith herself holds the keys to all but one of the vaults. Years of surface raids have filled these coffers with gold, gems, and magical items. All of which are unrecorded and stored as a child would store their toys. The exact value of the House Barrith Coffers is unknown, though it does keep growing with each trip made by the skilled raiders to the surface. ((There is a detailed list in the works to show exactly what is in the coffers for RP purposes and such. Management approval will be pending on a list of magical items))House Barrith NPC's The Naked Watch As amusing a name, and as amusing a concept, the Naked Watch is nothing to laugh at. Consisting of six drow males, each one has been trained to be masterful defenders of their Matron. Instituted only fifty years into her rule, Barrith hand picked each of the young men to make up her own personal guard.
Each male has had extensive training as a monk. Granting them expert hand to hand combat tactics, as well as physical traits that prove quite effective against would be assassins. Their body is tattooed with magical markings that further enhance their abilities and effectiveness. Below is a general listing of common tattoos upon the men. There are also a variety of other tattoos specific to each male.
- Mage Armor (Like the Spell) - Enhanced Strength - Enhanced Speed - Enhanced Endurance - Enhanced Hearing - Enhanced Vision - Blur (Like the Spell) (More to be added when I get ahold of my dang Books)The Raiders The small group run and outfitted by Matron Barrith have no name they call themselves particularly. There are a total of two raiding parties that alternate runs to the surface. Consisting of a total of 8 drow, choosen in number for the favor of Lloth, each member is outfitted with special gear and given a guard of fifty to see them to the surface. Each raid is quite succesful, as there is no time limit placed upon the raiders to complete their task.
The fifty guards that accompany the raiders to the surface carry with them rations enough to last a total of three months. This guard is to ensure the successful trip through the Underdark itself, nothing more. They wait in a warded carven near the surface for the 8 raiders to go above, find their targets, and complete the task given them.
The 8 raiders of this group consist of the following: 1 Priestess and 1 Cleric of Lloth, 1 Rouge, 1 ranger, 2 warriors, and 1 spellcaster. Each is outfitted with magical glasses to protect them from the blinding light of the surface worlds sun as a added percaution. No expense is spared in outfitting these 8 raiders, as each one brings back far more then the cost of their gear in items, slaves, and strange creatures.Quavvira Quavvira was born a street urchin. Or perhaps she was born to a slave or servant that did not have time for a child. Whatever the reason was, Quavv began her life on the streets of Gulliderth. She was not skilled enough to be a thief, she was not cunning enough to be a con artist. Quavv was forced to take the hard road of earning her means through physical labor and honest effort. It was a lesson leaned both well and despised. When Barrith came across the girl, she was working herself to exhaustion searching street gutters for the randomly dropped coin, lost trinket, or severed body part or corpse. A pair of naked male drow descended upon her, and lifted the girl up under the arms. Amid her gutteral curses, leg flailing protests, and shrieks of their questionable relationship with illithids, the girl was born off to the enclosed carrige of Matron Barrith. Here and now the girl quieted, somewhat fretful that she had in some way managed to offend someone of the upper class. Much to her surprise and embaressment, the veiled drow had her examined in the shaming manner one would a slave before purchase. However, this was not the same, as the girl soon learned. The veiled Matron spoke plainly to the girl, telling her 'I've no daughters, and I'm not going to have any. If you prove yourself a worthy drow, I'll give you my House when I die.' How could Quavvira possibly say no to that?
1) She is not of any noteable lineage. She is just a common houseless drow.
2) She is not intended to be a priestess or cleric of Lloth. In fact her alligence to Lloth is pretty much no more then lip service.
3) She is uninterested in Micarreth because she believes he is too ambitious and a 'typical drow male'. He'd be a good ally so long as you kept something over him to keep him in check.
4) She is -furious- with Mas for constantly denying her. Her interest in him is more like a vengeful obsession. The more he has denied her the more determined she's become to have him in her power and under her control. She views Mas as a good way to secure her place in the Barrith House due to his 'weak will and spineless cowardice'.
