To the Matron of House Piranor;

I send this letter with expectation it reaches you well in health, power, and favor of the Goddess. Though it has been many decades since communication has been between our Houses, I believe that your family's strength has only grown. In like, House Barrith has grown in power as well. As there are many type's of power, I am dissappointed to relate that the position of my House remains as stagnant as the efforts of the Heritic to claim power here in Gulliadurth.

I am certain by now the curiousity as to the purpose of this letter has begun. In the past my Mother, the previous Matron of House Barrith, spoke with a flattering tongue about the guile of House Piranor. She recounted the tale of her impressed dealing with your House to all of her daughter and it is this favorable opinion that has stirred me to write to you.

Though my House has been eight times Blessed by Lloth. My raiders return unharmed and with many prizes each time. No House has dared stir against me with the successful training of my personal guard. I have to my great shame, only two son's. With the lack of daughters to whom to pass my House on to, I have the untasteful lot to settle for finding a match for my eldest child.

He is of a great dissappointment. He lacks guile. He lacks wit. He lacks skill. Were my youngest son not so inclined to the trade skills of the rouge I would be rid of this worthless male and focus upon him. However it has been my suspicion, by the means that my youngest son works to discredit his elder brother, that he has plans to cast aside my House's position in favor of becoming nothing more then a mercenaries house! We Barriths have long held our place in the city as the 15th House, and low as this may be I shall not willingly give it up.

So it is that I write to you, Matron Piranor, that I may elicite a favor of you to send one whom might be able to train my Eldest son to be a more proper drow male. In the hopes that perhaps I may be able to offer him to some other female and secure a new Heir for House Barrith. I fear I have grown too old to properly instruct him myself, and I do not trust any of my servants to carry out the task properly, in hopes of gaining his favor when it is I pass on to the Spider Queens embrace.

~May the Spider Queen Favor You and Your own.

Valin strode slowly along the street, chancing no one to notice her or the mists that clung to her nervously as she advanced upon the House of Barrith. Clutched lightly in her hands was a reply to the Matron's letter, her grandmother dragging her from the docks of the Glimmersea only to send her back again as an errand girl. In truth she had no clue in her mind as to what filled the lines of either of the letters nor why she was sent instead of one of her grandmother's many servants. But from the start she had decided that it displeased her.

Quote:
In return to the Matron of House Barrith;

It is with regret that I must inform you that our house is not the great pinnacle it was when I knew your previous Matron. House Piranor has not changed Matrons to welcome the next generation. My only child and daughter, Nirana, forsoke the House and resolved to live at the edges of the city almost a decade ago.

This has not affected our standing in power and we continue to thrive on the riches that have held me through my time into this generation's. We have been blessed by the goddess with a female heir past that of Nirana.

Though Nirana is now decease by some theivery she has left me a small hope for the survival of the House. Nirana would not admit as to whom it was that spawned my grandchild, but she was female and so we found that detail to be unconsequential. The child, by the name of Valin, was returned to me at her mother's death and although I have had trouble keeping her within the House I beleive she has come to accept her role as my successor.

She is very determined and will not rest until she has retreived our sword which was stoled at her mother's demise. I am sending her to you to help with your son; perhaps he may be able to in turn help the House of Piranor with her fancy.

Our stature has remained as unchanged as my Matronage but we are a proud House and believe that the revival of communication between our Houses may be of benefit to us both. We are delighted with your letter and hope the paths of communication will come to be as they were in the days of my youh.

~May the House Barrith in turn be Favored by the Goddess and Find Blessing.
Matron Piranor

Though she knew not the contents of the letter she did know that she had no intention of disobeying her mother's teachings to return as House Piranor's Matron-to-be. She also had no intention to find anyone's favor or fancy or to have anyone find hers. Her eyes remained guarded as she strode to the door of the House and announced her presence by sending her mists through the gaps in the door to summon the nearest servant in the House.

When the grand door opened to admitt Valin, the servant that faced her wore a jesters outfit of black and red leather. His eyes swept over her just a moment, before he beconed her inside. From there another drow, this one wearing a purple and yellow jesters leotard, accepted her letter and carried it off while the first drow escorted her to a small sitting room.

The decorations within were quite sparse all around. No items graced the main hall, no wall hangings covered the hallways, and the sitting room itself was quite empty as well. Stone bookshelves carved into the walls were completely empty. The table itself was of plain stone and wood, even the chair's themselves lacked any sort of cushioning or gilding. Yet all were completely free of dust as a sign that the House's upkeep was still maintained.

Valin would be left alone and to her own entertainment within the plain room while her letter was carried, directed, and finally delivered in a round about manner. Mas D'aun himself was informed of it's content, and the supposed will of his Matron by one of the Watch themselves. It riled him some, to have his Matrons personal guard dictating to him exactly what they believed his mother had intended. For once, in a very long while, Mas D'aun rather wished the old crone would hurry up and die already.

When the door opened to admitt him, mas was busy wringing the letter in his left hand. he attempted to put a unconcerned smile upon his face. he was tempted to thank her for the letter, offer her a night and some money to make traveling back where ever she came from quicker, and be done with her. But...with the Guard believing they knew what was stirring in his crazy old mothers head he didn't dare dismiss her anytime too soon. besides, from what he had read she was also a Noble and he did not want to risk offending her somehow.

"Lady Valin. I apologize for the delay in greeting you. I am afraid I was unaware of the Matron's invintation so was unprepared to recieve a prestigeouse gust such as yourself."

Valin's doe-eyed gaze followed the servants that led her to the sitting room. Resisting the urge to raise her mouth in an amused yet skeptical mou, and knowing that she didn't get into the city enough to be able to judge what outfit would be considered 'tacky' in a sense, she chose one of the clean yet bare chairs to sit upon.

Letting her gaze wander, she took her time waiting to ponder again what exactly her grand Matron had gotten her into. The house was just above her own in cleanliness, her grand Matron never one for a dirty house, and slightly more than above her grand Matron's house in furnishings. In either case, neither was the somewhat 'cozy' little house she had shared with her mother. She ran a finger over the edge of the chair, watching with a wry smile as her mist tapped at it gently in an effort to permeate into the mass of wood with no avail.

Turning her gaze back to the hall she was placed in she allowed both her mists and her eyes to wander about the walls. Despite the cold stone and wood tidings and lack of elegant finery to grace the bare surfaces Valin found herself impress at the size of the house. It wasn't much to say since this and her grand Matron's were the only houses she had actually seen the interior of, but it was regardless still that she was impressed.

Impressed but not attached as her mother would have said; not a home but a house. And there was a difference between the words as Valin was finding out. Moreso when another Drow entered the room to address her, cold words and even colder eyes. But she was expecting as much. Her mother had warned her enough of houses and the kind of Drow that vainly inhabited them, especially after she had met her grand Matron for the first time after her mother's death, to know when there was disagreement.

Standing at the end of his statement, Valin stood to offer a halfhearted bow and reply, "It seems then that you and I had been in the same predicament, though yours is resolved whereas I am still unknowing of the letter's contents. If you would kindly indulge me in explaining what it is I am doing here I would be happy to get it over with and be out of your obviously unimpressed sight as soon as it would be allowed."

Mas watched as the female rose and bowed to him. Once again he noted the ease he felt dealing with a female within the safety of his own House. It was both a comforting and frustrating situation. He could not remain housebound until his mothers death or else all of his premeditated plans would crumble under scrutiny.

Her response gave Mas D'aun a sense that she was about as unhappy about being here as he was in her presence. That was something he could take advantage of. In all honesty though...this was a good distraction. His mind had been greatly distracted lately by a singular drow that really should not have been taking up so much of his thoughts. Though he'd also been distracted by another... It seemed that the more drow he met outside of school or home, the more he found himself occupied with thoughts concerning them. Now he had one other drow, standing before him, that was bound to prove a even greater distraction.

Mas Clutched the letter in his fist a bit tighter, then pressed it into one of his robes deep pockets. There was no reason to keep holding the offending parchment any longer. Though...as Valin appeared completely uncertain as to what herpurpose was here....it gave him a few ideas. It also gave him a smile, a slow thing that faintly parted his lips.

"I see...your Matron did not see fit to indulge her whims to you either? A pity that. It would make this far more easier if you were already prepared when you arrived."

Mas folded his now emopty hands before him, his blue eyes sparkling slightly as a warm sense of anticpated opportunity presented itself to him. So long as his mother remained unclear of thoughts he would be able to use this females presence to his great advantage!

"Your purpose here is quite simply Lady Valin. As my Matron has reached a very honerable old age, she has begun to worry a bit about the remaining life she still has. You see, Matron Barrith has bourn no daughters, and she fears that some enterpriseing young female may see a opportunity in House Barriths vacancy. She did attempt to position some other female in the household, but I am afraid she had no real skills besides the unsavory stret kind and has been gone a good few months now. In her concern of this being some plot against her, she has requested that your Matron send someone whom can fill in the role as a pretend heir until her natrual death. A Noble Lady from another cities House would do far better then requesting a daughter from a House here."

Mas lifted a hand and gestured towards the outerwall as he spoke, his lips curling into a slightly wider smile. "As a Noble Lady of unknown House strength it is unlikely another drow will attempt to remove you before gaining enough information about your position. Also, as a Lady from another city your unlikely to covet the position yourself and as such would make a perfect, if you would excuse the term, dummy heir."

Valin tried to keep her face emotionless, but a small frown peirced through her lips to touch the corners of her eyes. It seemed like this Drow had just found something fun to play with; like a cat with a cornered mouse. Hiding her distrust, she turned to lok again at the wall, letting what thin wisps of mists could form from the dry air do so. She let out a small sigh and turned back to the male, "That is a shame."

She reached for her power out side the walls of the House and found some small amounts of moisture just out of her reach. Not wanting to move from her spot just yet she reached down through the floor, knowing that there was always water underneath if one went deep enough. Finding only more small traces she sighed and called them to her. When the water finally fought its way through the cracks between the stone she released the tight bondage around them, the small globs spreading into droplets until her mists had thickened enough to conceal her movements if need be.

It was her usual precaution when faced with an unusual situation, though normally she kept closer to the Glimmersea and had an indesposable amount of water to work with. She supposed she could always tap into any water supplies within the house if she needed to, but she didn't want to go destroying her host's House without good reason.

"Please do not refer to me as 'Lady'" she corrected when he had finished explaining her purpose, her eyes flashing in disgust, "My mother abandonned that title long ago and as do I now." Moving closer to the outer wall so as to reach the little water she had found there she continued, "I regret to inform you that one will find it very difficult to find my House or stature or any information about me as I have never lived within House walls until now. I do not consider myself a 'Noble Lady' and am only here under my grand Matron's whim; I do not need bodyguards or any sort of protection and I refuse to be one to order people about unless it pertains directly to how they or their actions involve me. As your Matron appears to be absent I can assume that I am able to justly make these demands and suffer out these days as best I can in what room you put me in." She ignored the 'dummy heir' comment for the moment, giving the other another chance to use it before she corrected his mistake in insulting her.

Brushing her hands on her dress and stroking calmly at her wafts of mist as they drifted past she looked up with lighter eyes. "Now that the formalites are out of the way may I please be directed to where I will be staying so that I may be free to wander and not hinder your duties for the day?" She utterly hoped that his 'duties' did not include escorting her around the House, her eyes staying focused softly on him in their Siren gaze as she and her mists waited for his reply.

Mas wwatched as Valin seemed to pace about the room. His hands remained folded before him in a harmless gesture. He was unaware of exactly what she was seeking by her movements, so he appeared quite unconcerned. Even when it was she corrected him, only a brief flash of amusement touched his lips.

"Shame or not...and reguardless of your descion to leave behind your noble title. It will be pointless to have you here if we do not address you as if you were intending on holding that title. No one will believe for a moment that you are to be taken seriously if you do not present yourself properly Lady Valin. The purpose of a ruse is to decieve my dear, reguardless of your personal preferences or desires."

Mas made a small gesture with his hand to sweep over the empty room. "Once proper measures have been taken to ensure privacy is assured, then when in your rooms it will be my pleasure to dispence with the false formalities. I do understand your desire to distance yourself from this unwanted task..."

Here Mas paused, his head tilting slightly so that faint smile of his could follow Valin's movements. " Yet you will have to put forth some effort into the performance. Dinner with the family of course, and convinceing my young brother of your position here as well. We'll simply state you have dictated the Household affairs to me until you become more familar with the House. That should provide you with the excuse to remain uninvolved. Honestly, I do not believe Matron Barrith will last more then a few years now."

Mas considered gestureing for her to follow him, but paused. In case it was she decided to prove difficult to his impromptu plans he preffered that any disagreements were had out in the privacy of the study rather then in the halls where the servants could carry the gossip who knew where.

Her gaze remained trained on Mas as he tried to convince her of her needed actions, still retaining their soft yet feirce quality of an innocent doe finding herself cornered at a cliff and prepared to destroy her attacker if they tried to move in closer. It was not fear in her eyes, however, as if she were only prey to the hunter, but amusement, as if she was waiting for her chance to let the hunter know that it had caught not prey but another predator.

It was only too bad her mists could not form more substantially inside the dry halls and walls of the House. Just the same, she knew better than to trust any Drow that came from a House and how to defend herself from their plots. Her mother had taught her that much before she was killed, though how extensively she had been allowed to teach was cut short to end with a question. Not liking to underestimate the capability of those around her Valin decided to take more time to study the other Drow before replying to his clarifications on her position.

She did not like his smile, for one. Though she had come to that conclusion before. And he carried himself more proudly than most of the other males she had met; her mother had taught her that who you were was not determined by what you were, but this was Valin's first time meeting someone who had actually seemed to follow that advice. She reminded herself that she did not know the other's story and so she could not know whether or not that was the reason for his actions. It intrigued her a little, causing her to take note about asking what the reason was when they finally got to her rooms and could drop the nobility act.

Letting her eyes close disdainfully she replied, "Very well. But I refuse to answer to the title or dictate, or assume responsibility for any dictated, orders until I meet with your Matron herself and these arrangements are confirmed to me." A smile grin threatened to break into her mouth again, but this time it was cast off into her mind as she focused her attention to the fact that none of the matter was finished as of yet.

"If she will last a few years than I can presume she still has the time to give me her orders herself instead of sending a messenger to placate me," she said, refusing to beleive that she might be stuck within the House for more than as long as she could force herself to be. Which was not very long at all.

Another thought reached her mind and her eyes finally broke their concentrated gaze into one of undesguised anger and refusal. She could not be trapped within these walls and confined to acting like a 'lady' for the next few years; how would she retreive her sword? How would she be able to look for it? No, she could not more than a few weeks at best. Her grand Matron would have to face the fact of disappointment from her granddaughter; she would not follow these orders if that were in fact what they are.

There was a pleasent sense of empowerment slowly filling Mas D'aun. Inwardly he marvled at the changes that had been occuring to him both in emotion and will. All in just a years time! he had spiraled down into a depressive funk all his young adulthood, then suddenly, in a years time...it was as if someone had stopped the upsetting of a glass and had sent his ambition pouring and swirling back to the center of his being. He felt himself standing so strait and tall. he felt with every step a confident, if somewhat feminine, sway. He felt sure of himself.

Valin did not seem to protest being led to the guest rooms, so Mas D'aun led the way through the spiraling halls upwards to one of the top floors of the spire. The highest floor was vacant save for the guards, the second floor was utterly devoted to his Mother. The third level was for himself and Micarreth, and beneath that was a series of guest rooms. Mas considered exactly what room would be best to give to her, as there were a total of five suites. As she was fitting into his plan as a deterrant he figured one of the better rooms would be a good choice.

Of course, climbing all those stairs was a bit of a pain... Perhaps he should have simply levitated up? Ah, but he was uncertain if Valin was capable of that ability, so it suited the situation better if he walked along with her.

When he did reach the room he had choosen, he paused a moment to glance back at Valin. His lips had lost the large smile they had displayed before, though a hint of his pleased nature was still upon them. Mas D'aun pressed his hands to a pair of stone double doors, the plain front features swung easily at his touch and revealed a room pretty much as bare and plain as all that she had seen thus far. A small four post bed was raised up a level and could be reached by ascending a trio of stairs. A pull cord dangled from either side of the bed's headboard so heavy black curtains could be enclosed about the bed for privacy. A furniture set consisting of a vanity with chair, a dresser, and a standing armorie clustered in one corner. Three stone bookshelves were carved into the very walls themselves here as had been in the study she had first been led to. A second door was set in the wall opposite of the bed. Directly across from the door three large windows stretched from floor to ceiling, a small unadorned balcony curved out beyond the windows. Heavy curtains of simple black material were tied back to either side of the windows.

Mas stepped within, and gestured for Valin to enter behind him. He did not bother to explain that the guest bathroom was beyond the other door in the room, and he assumed she'd be familar with the basic spells placed upon windows such as the ones here to keep intruders from slipping in as she slept or lounged.

It was now that he had to tackle a small problem. Mention of speaking with his matron he supposed should have been expected but...Hmm. If she proved to be overly difficult what would Mas do? He supposed if he began to spread the Matrons condition now it would make his plans easier later on... Whichever ones he finally settled upon that was.

Mas placed his hands upon his hips as he squared off before Valin. His pale blue eyes narrowed only slightly as he responded. "I am not a mere messenger my dear. Meeting with Matron Barrith will be very unlikely Lady Valin. The Matron is incapable of recieving guests as regularly as you would assume. She has a...condition...that impares her. It will be likely that it will be a few months before Matron Barrith is capable of speaking with you. In which time if you do not assume the role devised then your presence here will be pointless. You will see for yourself tonight when you attend Dinner. Matron Barrith, despite her condition, still attends to certain family traditions. The Watch see to that."

Mas lifted a hand to his hair and brushed his fingers through his bangs as he considered how much further he should or could go. If he became too damanding and angry she'd only resist his plans. However he was not going to let some other female tell him what she would and will not do in his own House! It rubbed against him in a irritating manner.

"I will leave you to obviously desired solitude until dinner then. If you do not have proper dineing attire speak to one of the slaves. They were the green and yellow uniforms. One of them shall fetch something fitting for the heir of the House to wear."

(Okie, I'm sort of god-modding in how her powers affect him, but I didn't know how else I could use them without losing the effect they had, so if you want them to do something other than what they say they're trying to do in her posts, just reply as if they did that and not the thing they're trying to do, if that made sense sweatdrop )

Upon reaching the bedroom Valin was holding her angrily churning mists back as well as she could. When the other Drow began to speak she reached the last of her patient's strings and released her mists, letting them slam into Mas D'aun's clothes and soak them until they were as heavy and maleable to her whim as she desired them to be. The presence of water nearby in the bathroom gave her more advantage in what she so desired to do and she had to resist horribly the urge to break every contraption in the room as she pulled it from its resting places. The water separated and formed an even thicker mist as it poured into the room, rushing to meet with the weaker mist and help in its attempt to bend the Drow to their will.

Her doe eyes opened wide with her and she begun to him her Siren's song, wanting desperately to unleash it upon this manipulative Drow who seemed to take so much joy in stringing her along. She did not beleive a single drop of the spew that flowed from his mouth and she intended to let him know so.

The mists attempted to drag at his clothes until they could back away no further into the wall next to the door, and, deciding that the effect was in need of more precarious looking adjustments, they proceeded to try and lift him along the wall until he was a few inches above the floor. Her mouth opened, but instead of the scathing attempt at scolding she wanted to say to him her song came out.

It wasn't supposed to come out at all, none the less the way it did. The tune began as that of the Moldau, which was a song she had heard came from the surface, a soft and lilting melody. But her temper altered the course of the music until her slowly building crescendo reached its highest pitch, oddly, much more gently than it was supposed to, her voice melding with her mists, caressing softly against Mas's ears. Dangerously, almost in a seductive manner as one who promises the heart's desire only to steal it away with the kiss of death.

Normally her songs stole into the other's being when she made contact with their eyes, but, afraid of what this song would do, she closed her eyes and turned her face away from the Drow. And, momentous as her voice began she slowly brought it under control, letting it fade and unravel between her mists until the room was cloaked in silence. When she was sure that the reverberations of the tune had ceased stretching along the walls, Valin opened her mouth again to let out a sigh. Her eyes reopened and flicked in Mas's direction, her rage still simmering in their depths.

She spoke in a soft voice, almost a whisper, "I cannot remain within these walls for so long; either I meet with your Matron and speak with her tonight or I leave at dawn tomorrow. With every year delayed my mother's sword slips further from my grasp; if you have no reassurance that my time here will help me to reattain it or that it is worth the delay to please my grand Matron, then yes, my time here is indeed pointless, but more importantly it is wasted."

Finding her sword and her mother's killer was the foremost thing in her mind at the moment. Well, in her whole life. Ever since her mother and Tarein had been slain and the sword taken she had vowed to leave her timid and meek little girl self behind and stop at nothing until she was as much of a powerful and commanding Drow as her mother had been. How could she just stop and forget about that goal for a few months or a year or so? She couldn't, and that was why she wasn't going to remain here and be dragged through a House pretending to be the very type of Drow that her mother had taught her to despise.

Turning away from the Drow again she called her mists back into the air, not caring if he fell from wherever it was the mists had taken him or not, surrounding herself with their gloriously damp and consolingly freindly touch. "If you have no more to say to me, then yes, please leave me to my solitude and I shall be dressed and down to dinner when I am set for," she said, moving silently over to the bed and sitting on the end of it. She was expecting him to kick her out without much further ado. It wouldn't please her grand Matron, but she had lived long enough without her that she saw no reason to please or return to her when this was over.

(Aw, he was so energetic and proud and then Valin is so angry and scornful...)

((No harm done. As Mas wouldn't be expecting anything like that to happen he'll be taken off guard. But it won't happen a second time ^_^))

At first when the mist rolled over him and surrounded him, Mas felt a momentarily panic that perhaps it was acidic. He gave a start, his blue eyes widening slightly as he looked down at the mist that was rapidly dampening his clothing. As Mas D'aun realized there was no pain coming from the mist, he became quite perplexed. His startled expression changing to confusion. As he was wearing robes there was a lot of material for the mist to dampen, and it did not occur instantly. Looking up, Mas could see nothing within the thick mist.

Well! It was a good thing they did not bother decorating the place with much! Whatever Valin was doing could have seriously ruined any books or painting had they been in here! "What are you---" Singing? The sound of her voice lifted in song seemed absolutly absurb in the current situation he was in. he had no clear idea what she was possibly about. Perhaps insanity had less to do with bloodline and more to do with the House? Was it cursed to make all females within it mad?

It was only when mas D'auns clothing were quite saturated that he was aware of the pressure. At first he thought perhaps there was some invisable force pushing against him, but as his staggering steps led him to lean back against the wall, he realized it had something to do with his clothing and the mist. A...AH!?

"Stop it!" He cried out a touch shrilly as he felt the pressure increaseing. His limbs felt leaden wrapped in the wet clothing and he felt his body pulled up against the wall by the seams under his arms.

He could slip out of his robes. A bit of a twisting and wriggling and he'd surely drop free. But then that would leave him very nearly naked in the room with Valin, in a blinding mist...and that was a extremely undesierable situation. Instead he listened to her song and squirmed against the force holding him to the wall. He could move his arms a bit, and he was attempting to slip his hand closer to the pouch against his left hip. Perhaps a fireburst? Something quick to burn up the mist? That would not dry him immediatly but it certainly would clear the air a bit. Mas marveled a bit at how easily he was able to keep his head despite this unexpected development. Perhaps he was overcoming his shortcomings after all?

The song unsettled him. As lovely as it might have been it most certainly did nothing to calm his apprehension. mas was keen not to look at Valin as he worked his hand towards his spell component bag. Then, it was over rather suddenly. Mas D'aun dropped the few inchs to the floor and stumbled without falling. His clothing weighed heavily on his slender frame as he looked over at Valin cautiously. Oh, he had heard everything she had said. A burning reply scorched his tongue as he swallowed it down. Sword? What sword was this that had her in such a state? A part of Mas D'aun's heart flared with some form of angry contempt. He was too angry to think properly at that moment, so he silently nodded his head at valin, gathered his dragging robes hem in one hand, and quickly exited the room. He needed to calm down. He needed to clear his head to think...he really needed to go to Taliesin for some companionship. But he did not want the other mage to see him in the state he was in.

((I think their first encounter is over actually XD Do you want to start another thread in which to have the 'Dinner' in? I can post first if you want, just PM me if I'm not on ^_^))

(Alright XD Saddening sort of... Their first encounter didn't last more than one page of posting... emo

Okie! If you'd start that would be good sweatdrop I'm sure she'll be excited for dinner XD

Oh, if it wasn't apparent, her singing is the medium for her spells within her mists XD)

Valin was only vaguely aware of the other Drow leaving the room. She was sure he would not find her so amusing anymore, but that was his own fault for trying to play with her like some doll in a dollhouse, or, a doll House as the case were.

She let out a calming sigh, closing her eyes to block out the sight of the room, though her mists faded most of the meager furnishings and walls from her sight. Her mouth opened again and her voice drifted out fom between her lips, the Modlau once again filling the air. This time the song was as it should have been, calm and nostalgic with a hint of sadness to touch the edges.

Yes, this was her song. Much more calming and filling than her angry howling or the peircing cry she used to subdue and frighten her victims on the edge of the Glimmersea. Her Sirens' melodies were few as of yet, but soon she would be able to better control and identify her music. She had already remembered with familiarity the version of the Moldau she had just sung. Which meant if that arrogant and manipulative Drow decided to try anything again she would be able to call the music back and attack with twice the ferocity. And this time, she would make eye contact and let him fall under her mists' new malevolent spell.

She was a little surprised he had demanded that she leave, though that could have meant he really wasn't in the position to do so and really was just a messenger boy. It also could have meant that she just scared the wits out of him and probably would be getting a verbal, or possibly physical, lashing from the Matron or guard of the House.

It didn't matter either way; she would be prepared to hold her head high at dinner, or to fight her way free of the imprisoning House and return to the Glimmersea where she belonged.
