Chapter: Underneath Notice

For the first collection of years, Ilmxena believed she was just another one of the servants brats. She ran wild through the servants quarters. She fussed whenever she was made to wash and go to bed, she tried to sneak off an extra helping of dessert, and of course she tried to sleep through the daily lessons the other children were made to suffer through. She seemed to have a relatively normal life amongst the servants, and despite her impish tendencies she grew to enjoy lending a hand when she could. Ilmxena took it upon herself at random times to help with the washing of the dishes, or the laundry, or sweeping the floors. While the servants never denied her the responsibilities she asked for, they seemed to never push for her to take up these chores the way they did with all the other children.

As she grew older though, Ilmxena began to take note of some oddness in the manner the servants treated her. For one, many of her childhood playmates were kept busy and away from her. This was fine though, for as the youngster grew older she had a few 'preferred' friends that she had pulled into her own little group. It was no coincidence that the three 'friends' she retained were all males. Boys that were at about her same exact age, and as such she felt quite the important little thing when she determined what games they would play. Her followers, all children of slaves that belonged to the House, seemed more then content to listen to her and indulge her with the encouragement of their parents.

Another odd thing that should have given the girl more caution, was the fact that some of the servants attitudes towards her seemed...less then friendly. As a child she had not noticed this difference in attitude, though as she grew older Ilmxena found at times that some of the servants and their older children viewed her with concealed hostility. Never did it occur to Ilmxena that there could be a reason beyond the normal servants rivalry behind it.

As Ilmxena entered her teen years, new exciting games were discovered for herself and her three male followers. Micarvyr proved to be a sly and canny drow male. He often challenged Ilmxena to games of strategy like Sava with a side bet of gaining a kiss should he beat Ilmxena....he earned a lot of kisses. Lesomph was a male with a frighteningly twisted mind. He was the one whom Ilmxena often had the most trouble with, as he often wanted to take their games too far and would only back down when Ilmxena and the others ganged up on him. She often felt that he would be quite dangerous if he were not outnumbered. Elaugfein was, by far, her favorite out of the trio. He would often say such pretty things to her, and would sneak her extra treats from the kitchen. He was a sneaky charming male that seemed like half the time he was up to something. Over all Ilmxena was proud of her little 'House' as she'd often jest. Oddly though the males never did laugh quite as much as she did and almost seemed...eager....to encourage her.

It was as Ilmxena entered her later teens that she became rudely introduced to the darker aspect of her world and her people. It was a dare by Lesomph that brought them down to the lowest levels of House Baen'duis. The dare was to get as close to the drider pit as one dared. The losers would have to pay up their dessert for that night. It seemed silly and childish to Ilmxena, but at the same time dangerous and exciting. So she agreed. Elaug was the first to surrender. he made it only as far as the entrance of the drider pit before he ran terrified back up the stairs. Micarvyr was the second to surrender, his slender frame shaking as he froze, then bolted at the sound of some strange scratching within the pit. It was only Ilmxena and Lesomph at the last. Walking step by step towards the edge of the pit. He seemed, strangely, unfrightened as they approached. Almost eager really and that did seem weird to Ilmxena. As the came within two steps of the pit, Lesomph turned to Ilmxena and asked her quite bluntly who was her favorite out of the three males.

She laughed at first, softly out of concern for alerting something within the pit to their presence on the ledge. Lesomph's face turned dark though at the laughter, and he reached for her hand. Catching her wrist, he then began to question her about the other two boys. Which one was cuter? Which one did she find more intelligent? Who did she favor? When Ilmxena refused to give him a strait answer, his red eyes darkened. He asked her then, despite her hissed demands to be released so they could finish the game, what she thought of him? Lesomph did not really wit for her answer though. he pulled upon her wrist and stepped in closer to her. Standing nose to nose, he told..no...he demanded that she take him as her male. They were just about adults after all. Another eight years or so and they wouldn't be seen as children anymore. She had exchanged so many kisses with the other two already. Not once had she ever kissed him.

Ilmxena, at this point, was unsettled and began to pry at the hand holding her wrist. Lesomph was, for a teen male, muscular already. And though he was a good two inch's shorter then Ilmxena, he seemed to tower at that moment when he attempted to take a kiss from her. Ilmxena's slap came, ringing loud and sharp in the room. But it effectively halted Lesomph's attempt to kiss her. Ilmxena had, only a brief glimpse of his features before he pushed her. Ugly and twisted with jealous hatred, he thrust her back and over the edge of the pit.

Chapter: Into the Drider Pit

She fell, her red eyes opened with such surprise. She did not think to scream as she tumbled into the darkness. Something caught on her shoulder close to the wall and snagged her mid fall, breaking the speed she had gathered, though after just a brief moment of hesitation she ripped free and finally struck the ground. Laying upon her stomach, her shock over Lesomphs actions faded away to a cold fear. She looked upwards, and saw a forbidding stone wall pocketed with holes here and there. White webbing wrapped about a few of the holes that she saw. But the webbing was not what caught her sight and froze her breath in her chest. Red glowing eyes peered out from the darkness of a hole directly above her. She watched as a hideous beast emerged from the shadows. The drider repulsed her, terrified her, so much so that she could not move.

The drider looked down at Ilmxena, then tilted it's head to look to the side of it's webbing. A long stretch of webbing was pulled from the mouth of his web, and as his eyes followed it down, Ilmxena unconsciously reached and touched the shoulder that had caught on her way down. She felt something silken and sticky there. The drider above split his lips open in a frightening smile and reached out with one leg to delicately pluck at the length of webbing. Ilmxena felt a strong tug, and her shoulder lifted easily from the ground. The drider's smile grew impossibly large, and he began to pull upon the strand with other legs, and in a matter of seconds Ilmxena was jerked from her belly to her feet, then her feet left the floor. Now Ilmxena found strength in her limbs and she began to struggle. Her legs kicked fiercely and she grabbed at the webbing attached to her shoulder. Up..up...up she found herself pulled, her heart pounding more fiercely with each foot she ascended.

A sudden grip upon her ankle halted her captor from hauling her up further. Looking down, Ilmxena's first scream escaped her lips. Another drider clung to the wall, one of his elfin hands clutched firmly upon her ankle, and a terrifying smile flashed pointed teeth at her. His eyes were narrowed in what seemed like a odd sense of...excitement? The strand attached to her shoulder gave a vicious tug upwards, and Ilmxena's shoulder nearly pulled itself free from it's socket. She could hear the angry hiss of the drider above her then the pressure upon her shoulder vanished. Ilmxena's body swung downwards, flipping herself upside down in the second driders grip. From her new vantage point, she could see the first drider rapidly climbing down the wall, his face a ugly mask of aggression.

The drider holding her leaped from the wall. his spider form dropping the short distance to the floor with a thud, then shooting off towards a nearby hole. Ilmxena dangled and flailed for a few moments helplessly before the second drider cast her aside. She landed upon something soft and springing. Bobbing there a moment she looked about, and found to her horror she laid upon a stretch of webbing. She struggled, writhing against the strong drider webbing fruitlessly. She heard a terrible screeching sound. Looking up, Ilmxena witnessed the two driders locked in combat. She could not tell one from the other, they looked the same to her, and in all honesty she was not too interested in learning what variables each drider had.

Her struggles only served to tire her. Though the two driders were occupied with each other, she could now see others creeping slowly out of their own webs, and she seriously disliked how many of them were eyeing her. As the two fought a few others crept closer to her prone form. She had never felt so helpless, so utterly and completely out of control. As the driders about her slowly edged closer she could see the madness gleaming in their elven eyes. She renewed her struggles to free herself from the webbing, tears working their way free of her red eyes as she felt her hopeless frustration threatening to overwhelm her.

A drider smacked into the wall a few feet from where she was trapped. Her head snapping to the side to see one of the driders that had been fighting. She turned then to see the victor skittering towards her. He moved impossibly fast. One moment he was upon the ground yards from her. the next he was leaping up the wall. His large bloated spiders body hovering over her as he hissed a warning to the others that had been creeping forwards. Ilmxena was uncertain what sort of exchange occurred between the driders, as her sight was blocked by her captor. It hardly mattered to her though, for she was struggling with the terror of the reality she was about to die. She had heard plenty of stories about how driders ate their prey. Sucking them dry while they were alive still. Biting off their heads and tearing their limbs from the torso. Ripping them open to lap at the pooling blood over the still warm and quivering organs.

The drider slipped to one side, clinging to the wall as he now peered down upon her. Ilmxena forced herself to look upwards, but after meeting his elven eyes, she had to close her own. There was something different. Something terrible in those eyes. There was no glaze of insanity within them. This is what made them so repulsive, the clarity and knowledge of knowing who he was... How could someone cling so viciously to sanity after being turned into a cursed drider? There had to be a very vengeful reason behind it...a hatred so strong that it gave him some unbelievable strength.

Ilmxena's eyes opened as she felt something touch her. In the next few moments, she knew abject terror and mindless confusion as the drider used his spider legs to tear her cloths from her body. She shook shamefully as he pulled her from the webbing to inspect her closely...and oh! How close she came to fading from consciousness as he smiled down upon her. She did not remain naked for long though, as the drider began to spin his webbing about her. Strong, firm, and suffocating. Her arms were pinned to her sides as her body was cocooned thinly by the webbing. If she were to look down she would have been able to see that the cocoon itself was quite thin. Nearly transparent really, but still strong enough to hold her immobile.
He left her face unwrapped, for the Goddess only knew why, and dragged her effortlessly into the hole in the wall. Inside she saw what sort of nest the drider male had made. Thick swaths of webbing formed a comfortable resting place for the drider when he wished to sleep. Tight...small...terrifyingly close quarters really. Ilmxena found herself pressed up against the drider's body. The hard chitin and stiff spider bristles of his arachnid torso sent shivers through her body. Through the thin spider silk, he was able to touch her, his elven hands sliding over her form with a inquisitiveness that was sickeningly improper and shameful. Ilmxena was so very certain he intended to drain her as she had heard in the stories, so it was no surprise when he leaned down and bit into her arm. His fangs sank through the thin wrapping of silk as if it were not there at all.

The bite burned as if someone had taken a hot meat fork directly out of the fire and stabbed her with it. With the pain came a sudden sense of exhaustion and weakness. Poison....She knew she had been poisoned and there was simply nothing she could do to cure herself. The drider bent four of it's spiders legs about her limp form, and pulled her tight against it's body as it settled down half on top of her. It's lips pressed to the wound it had inflicted, and she could feel the suction pulling upon her flesh as he drank lightly from her bleeding arm. As the blood from the wound began to thin, the drider shifted itself and bit her again, this time upon her thigh, then again upon her other arm. With each bite came the burning pain, and another bout of frightening weakness that only seemed to get worse. Soon her breathing came in small shallow pants. The drider paused in it's casual supping to look into her glazed eyes, and seemed strangely satisfied.

It was a granted thing that she slept. Fitfully and with moments of painful awakenings as she would be roused by another bite somewhere upon her body. The drider seemed to pick his bites quite carefully, for he never bit near a large vein, and always in a place that the blood would begin to thin after a few sucks. Ilmxena felt as if she never could recover from the poison that was being injected into her and she despaired that it would take weeks for her to finally die at the rate the drider was feeding upon her.

Despair soon turned to a new bout of terror as Ilmxena's captor spoke to her during her next turn of wakefulness. His voice was soft and low, but the words were clear and the mind speaking then was undeniably sharp. He gave her no name, and asked for none in return. He spoke with a burning fervor about a God named Gargauth and whispered to her about the gift he had received when she fell from above. He praised this God that Ilmxena had never heard before, and was chilled by his heretical ranting. Now she knew why it was he had been cursed at least. Not that this knowledge made her fear abate any. The drider spoke of prayers and plans. Things that made no sense to her. Why would he share these things with her? Why wasn't he killing her?

When she learned the reason Ilmxena wept for death.

This was the day he mated with her. Claiming her as his female. His prize. His gift from Gargauth. Physically they were quite incompatible, but the drider was incredibly determined to manage a way to become physical with his female. As a drider locked in a pit, it was not as if he had any pressing engagements or commitments to see to. He had nothing but free time to experiment. In the hours that passed, Ilmxena could only remember scant moments of terror and pain. Somehow he managed. Somehow he satisfied himself and claimed that she now truly belonged to him. Somehow.

Ilmxena could not recall when it was he finally removed the silk webbing from around her. With the constant strength draining bites he plagued her with she was unable to muster the strength to even crawl to the entrance of the nest. The drider spoke passionately about the next blessing he expected from Gargauth and his plans for his female. Madness, it was all madness to Ilmxena, and she felt that perhaps a little bit of it was tainting her as well. She laughed at times when he embraced her in his elven arms. At other times she managed a thin agonized wail when he fed from her. Ilmxena could not recall how many days had passed since she had been caught. Not many though. Perhaps four or five. He fed her by forcing bits of bloody meat ripped from what sickeningly resembled a black arm one day. Insisting she needed nourishment to fulfill her role as his mate. Perhaps she had been wrong about the drider. perhaps he was insane after all...

Chapter: Set upon a Path

Ilmxena spent a total of eight days in the drider pit when her liberation finally came. She could not recall the face of the drow that pulled her out of the driders nest. Though she did remember the stunned oaths when she stirred and opened her crimson eyes to look at the group of well armed guards. A tall imposing female form stood amid them, with a very dark scowl upon her face. Behind her Ilmxena spied the terrified faces of Elaugh and Micar looking at her. Questions were asked, but she could not manage a coherent answer to them. In her condition she supposed she was fortunate enough to be able to recognize the familiar faces before her.

Her recovery was swift. Once removed from the drider pit and her belly filled with anti-toxins to rid her system of the driders poison she began to show speedy signs of health returning to her. She did not see a single one of the boys that she had once considered her males, and for the time she was content to leave it at that. Though a very troubling question as to why the guard would bother to fetch her from the drider pit hung heavy in her mind. It was Micarvyr that she saw first. The young male appeared one night in her room to speak with her. She suspected that Elaugfein was somewhere near by, watching or listening as Micar questioned her about her ordeal. What happened? How did she survive? Did she really fall? Such was the story Lesomph had spun, claiming that they had gone all the way to the edge of the pit, and just to win it she had edged her toes over the edge, which he followed suit. Only she went too far and lost her balance, thus causing her to fall into the pit. Ilmxena felt a smouldering anger and shame as she thought about Lesomph and his lies. For a few moments she considered telling Micarvyr exactly what had happened, but she suspected that if she did... he and Elaughfein would see to it that Lesomph had a similar experience. Ilmxena did not want that. She wanted to be the one to make him pay for what he had done to her. So it was that Ilmxena remained quiet, claiming she could not remember how she had ended up in the pit. Micarvyr explained to her thought what had happened. After her fall. Lesomph vanished in the House, hiding from the two of them until they finally managed to corner him two days later in a seldom used storeroom. There he told the story of how she fell, and for a day the three remained silent in fear of punishment for her accident. It was only after their parents threatened them with sever lashings that they told the story...and then it seemed many things went Topsy turvy.

Lady Halynda was informed of the event, along with other things that Micarvyr was not privy to. It was she whom had ordered the guards into the pit, and it was by the shreds of her cast off cloths on the floor that they found her by. Since then she had been closely watched by guards as she recovered, and as far as the boys knew the next day she would be transported away. Where was away? Micavyr did not know anything more then that. In desperation he had slunk in to find out the truth before the opportunity was gone and passed for them to avenge her, for they rightly suspected she had not fallen into that pit on her own.

Still, Ilmxena insisted that she could not remember, for she would not have the pleasure of making her betrayer pay be lost to her. True to Micarvyr's words she was bundled up the next day and passed off into the company of some terribly rough looking men. At that point Ilmxena's life became much...much harder. She was expected to work. Honestly work. She was expected to rise early and perform various physical labor tasks that she had never had expected of her before. her body had not suffered too much during her period in the drider pit, but it had definitely lose some of the swiftness that she once possessed. These men, mercenaries it appeared to be, demanded more out of her then she thought she was capable of giving.

At the start, Ilmxena had no particular duty beyond simple mundane tasks. Soon though she began to learn their trade. Armor and weapon care, as well as their use. She found it surprisingly simple, and surprisingly satisfying to take part in. In a matter of months she was being trained by one of the elder members of the troop, and she found herself driven to excel for once in her life. It was the expectation of the others, the way they could look down upon her for failing gave her a reason to try harder. All her life among the servants she had never once felt as if she were lacking if she decided she didn't want to tend to any chores and passed them off to someone else. Now was different...now she would actually get boxed upside the ear if she was smart or too slow... Ilmxena loved it.

What she loved most though was the excitement of stalking her prey. Of pouncing and silently finishing it off before a sound could be made. Ilmxena embraced that training of a velguk wholeheartedly, and kept kindled in her heart a small ember of hatred and revenge lust for Lesomph.

These are the NPC's from Ilmxena's history. As they all have important roles in Ilmxena's life and they will most likely appear in future RP's. I am quite interested in finding folks who may be interested in RPing any of them, as it makes for more interesting RP to have someone to play with. If you are interested in claiming a NPC to play with me PM me, I might be able to help you get them as a custom if you are really interested ^_^ Keep in mind the build I have placed below are just general ideas and I'm more then happy to let you tweak the character to suit you better.

User ImageMicarvyr: Intellectual. He is most likely to be a mage of some sort. He has a fierce loyalty to Ilmxena and has the most interest in getting into her good graces. He has a inner weakness for Ilmxena and protrays himself as the classic 'loyal to the death servant' when concerning her. He is keenly interested in knowledgeable pursuits, which is only barely secondary to pleaseing Ilmxena.

User ImageElaugfein: Opportunist. He is most likely to follow the path of a shebali and become a thief. His loyalty to Ilmxena is of moderate strength. He does enjoy kissing up to her, but is just as likely to be as slick with any other female that he can manage to charm. He seeks to improve his position in life through any means that he can manage, though he would rather not do it through bloodshed. It should be noted that he does have a small fondness for Ilmxena and see's himself as a rival for her attention with Micarvyr, which he takes pleasure in pursueing with the intention of 'beating Micarvyr to the prize' as it were. Nightwitch Neko will play him! blaugh

User Image Lesomph: Sadist. He is most likely to become a warrior or assassin. His loyalty to Ilmxena is lip service only. He harbors a jealousy for her attention though, as he resents being passed over constantly in favor of Micarvyr and Elaughfein. He has the personality that, if he can not have something he would rather it be destroied then let it slip away. He is extremely interested in cruel games of torture. It is not beneath him to pursue a matter of a imagined slight with the purpose of making the individual suffer humilation and agony as long as he is amused by it. Alamorain will play him. 3nodding

User ImageDrider: Obsessor. A worshipper of Garguath, a devil deity of betrayal, cruelty, and corruption. It is due to being a heretic that he was transformed into a drider. He was a sorcerer before his transformation, and due to his fortune of retaining his sanity he still commands the ability to cast magic. He prays daily to his God and spends his time plotting various schemes. He believes that Ilmxena was sent to him by his god and believes that she is now his mate. He remains in the drider pit and plots how to reclaim his female, and then obtain a place of power so he can wage war on the priestesses that cursed him.

Shrisin: A Cousin od unknown blood connections. She appears to be sharp witted. My first impression of her is a favorable one, though I am wary. I am not certain what is expected of me and i am not eager to make a fool of myself. Particularly if she is as important to my future as I fear she is.

Elaughfein: My male. The first I have managed to reclaim since returning 'home'. He is beautiful, and I am pleased by this. Thus far he has failed to impress me though. While he is apparantly loyal enough to make up for the fact I have learned of no good use for him, I want more out of my male then just that. I will have to find some good use for him or be rid of him. I can't risk carrying any dead weight.

Valyrr: Yet another Cousin of unknown blood connections. He's freakishly large. He's also a bit insolent for a male. I'm not certain if I really like him or not. He insulted me and I think I may not have forgiven him quite yet for it. Though i did learn something useful from him. Both concerning Shrisin and about a good bar....if I could only remember where it was now...

Behold and be amazed!...Seriously, be amazed demmit....

Tracking: Ilmxena has become proficiant enough from her trials in the Underdark Wilds to be able to track most prey easily. However, this skill is mostly effective outside of the Underdark Cities.

Alcohol Tolerance: After multiple years on the road, with alcohol binges at every stop and pay day, Xee has become quite familar with the effects of the drink. She is capable of drinking large amounts of alcohol and suffering little in the ways of it's mind altering effects...save for a extreme lightening of her mood and a bit of unsteadyness on her feet.

Pain Tolerance: Xee possesses a high level of pain tolerance. When it comes to personal injury, she is capable of remaining focused on her task and is unlikely to be shocked or otherwise paniced. The drawback to this is that she may take a great deal of damage due to her ability to focus past the pain of her body. She runs the risk of pushing her body past it's physical limits.

Mine...mine...mine... You will lose that hand....

Signet Pendant: This pendant bares Ilmxena's own personal mark. It is one she intends to use to symbolize herself in the future and insists that any that are 'hers' be wearing it in some manner.

Whip: Ilmxena wears clasped to her hip a slender purple whip with a tiny hook at the end much like a fishermans hook. She often leaves it coiled and hidden under her cloak.

Cloak: This sweeping garment hads several hidden pockets in the lining in which Xee keeps a handy supply of poisons, garrot wire, and lock picks.
