Welcome to Gaia! ::

I've seen some young people into victoria's secret. Like...10 year olds even. Some 9. Usually for the Pink items and regular underwear...but still.
In 6th grade there were girls wearing thongs. what the ********? I don't wanna see your a**. Hell, you shouldn't even be wearing pants tight enough for that at such a young age.

I'm pretty much the oldest in my grade (8th sad ) and it's pretty disgusting how some of the girls younger than I can be. I could definitely see a handful of girls in my school going to try on that s**t.

It's sick.
Personally, I don't own any thongs or pretty bras. I'm not sexually active. I just need a bra that fits and does what I need it to do, and that's not making my chest look big. Ugh. The only Victoria's secret item I own is a pair of rainbow pajama pants that I use for PE. Not gonna lie, they're comfy pants.

I haven't gone in there enough to see anything disturbing to tell a story about.
did anyone actually read the original post? lol. most of you are flipping out about the OP ragging on girls for buying lotions, lipgloss and regular bras there, she is talking about the stuff you wear to get laid, things that dont come on unless they're going to come off five minuites later. there is a HUGE difference.

and from what I've seen of victoria secrets (we have la senza here) they don't have a very big pj department like la senza does, and are a rather grown up store.

now, I don't have a huge problem with MATURE younger people going in stores like that, to MATURELY buy things, but when they're screaming and being so loud I leave the store, it bothers me. are they honestly going to buy (can they really afford) $50+ bras? me, when I go in I plan to buy something and its a bad choice on the store's part to not ask those kids to leave, and lose paying customers then just let them hang out and yell and run around and sh*t.

there is nothing wrong with a 12 year old with boobs going shopping for a bra in VS or any other store like that, they sell really nice bras with real support. but they don't need skimpy little scraps of sexy stuff that hold nothing in and are as I said above, only put on to be taken off five minuites later.

and I blame the parents for supporting/encouraging/not keeping an eye on that kind of behaviour. I still feel a little awkward at my age getting caught looking at garters and corsets and stuff.
I went to VS today actually and was disgusted by it as well. The part that bothers me the most is that 12 year girls are not old enough to have job, therefore not old enough to buy it themselves. Parents these days.

I do not think I would let (if I had a kid) my daughter go into VS until she is at least 15 or 16. Not even for the lip gloss. That is what Clair's is for.

Well, I know a lot of women who like to have and wear "sexy" underwear even if they're not sexually active. Pretty undergarmets aren't just about looking good when you take the top layer off. Sometimes it can just make you feel nice to know you have something pretty on under your clothes. I don't see why this feeling should have an age limit.

I also don't think that VS should have any sort of age limit on who can enter the store and who can buy what. That just seems silly. It's not a porn store. It just sells underwear ( and various cosmetics), at the end of the day.

That being said, I'm not really sure why parents let their 12-year-olds shop alone. I know my rule with my kid is "If I'm going to buy it for you, I go shopping with you."

Again, the OP said she saw them giggling at it, not trying it on, not purchasing it, not throwing the item over their bodies in front of boys.
Can I ask you something? when you were a girl, did you put on makeup, nail polish, big spiky heels in birght colors, feather boas and thing with sequins, lace and gliiter? Did you like putting on flashy grown-up things?
Then you must have been a whore! I mean, clearly you were playing with that stuff because you were thinking about sexual things and not that ladies looked glamourous in those things.
That's how rediculous this sounds. Besides, if they were giggling at the stuff, it doesn't mean they were thinking "hey, I want to work a corner in that". They were probably like "tee-hee, naughty stuff" or "I want that when I grow up and get married!"
Seriously, am I the only one who used to giggle at lingerie and pick out the stuff in catalogs and say "When I'm older I'm gonna wear that on my honeymoon!" ?

There was an 11 year old girl in VS begging her mother to buy her a $20 lace thong. eek
Do you know what her mother's reply was?
"Maybe when you turn 12 this month."

Yeah, that's a good point.

A kid just looking at something "sexy" doesn't mean that they're whores or that they're going to wear it to school the next day.

Though I still say that they wouldn't be whores even if they did buy some of that stuff and wear it. Not ever female who wears pretty underwear does so to turn on whoever she's sleeping with. Plenty of women who wear pretty underwear aren't even sleeping with anyone.

I put on makeup and dressed in grown-up clothes for fun and such, but in no way did I attempt to show off my body by wearing sexually arousing undergarments. That's a whole different story.

EDIT: It also said "picking out lingerie for themselves". They were picking it out. They were going to buy it. 12 year olds were going to buy lingerie.

They were picking it out. And how do you know they weren't going to? There are some pretty slutty 12 year olds. Which is odd since they got nothin' to show off...

So you wouldn't let your daughter, even with a parent, go into Victoria's Secret even if she had boobs? That seems seriously extreme to me. Makes about as much sense as not letting your kid go into a gas station because they sell condoms or porn there. Besides not all VS bras are lacy, slutty, flimsy creations. All the bras I have from there have been well-made and work well, and they aren't slutty at all.

I do agree that sometimes it's nice to have pretty underthings, even if you aren't showing them off. I'm thirteen and will buy underthings that are soft and lovely, and I don't go around going "Oooh lookie here guys!!" *flashes random people*. It gives you confidence to feel sexy and pretty, and if nice underwear is what it takes to do that, I'm all for it.

When I was 12 I did not care about make up and "adult" stuff. I played with dolls. I went to the stores that were ment for my age group and shoped there. I did not own thongs and did not care about them. I dressed my age and acted it.

By your reaction to my opinion, you must be 12.

Did you really just imply that because someone disagrees with you strongly, they must be 12?

Ummmm. That's certainly a different way of looking at it.
I agree with her completely, and I'm almost 21.

Again, how do you know that? Again, with the catalog s**t, my friends and I used to pick out stuff too. We would fantasize about what if we were getting married and going on our honeymoon, what if we were the gals in Moulin rouge? We'd say "Lindsay you would wear that!" "well megan would wear that!" "I like that thing!"
Again, lingerie, yes, but innocent fun. I think you guys are really really reading into it.
Unless the OP followed them to the cash register, saw them check out with the items, and then overheard that it was for sex, I'm not going to demonize them for doing the same thing everyone has done at some point.

Yeah. I know my best friend's boyfriend doesn't even really care about what kind of underwear she wears. If they're fooling around, it's all coming off. But she still buys sexy bras and such just because she likes them. She doesn't do it to turn him on. She does it because it makes her feel a little extra sexy and pretty without taking her clothes off.

I'm sort of bothered by how many people seem to associate pretty underwear exclusively with sexual activity.
