All right, thanks guys. :3 Makes sense for it to be an unknown term here in the Land of No Anime. xD Okay, it could be worse here but it's got nothing on the US. But yesterday I went with my fanfiction group to an awesome shop which specialises in comic and cartoon-related things, both Eastern and Western, as well as fantasy and sci-fi books. I could live there. I got a cuddly Hello Kitty keyring, a Hello Kitty button badge, two volumes of manga that my local Waterstone's doesn't stock and a book by Neil Gaiman. It's a shame I don't live closer... although probably good for my finances.

Can I ask... what does "weeaboo" actually mean? I've never heard it used here.

I was thinking of that comic strip, but as far as I can remember it doesn't explain the term or make any references to the guy being a Japanophile, so I don't know how it could catch on from that.

Edit: Although the Urban Dictionary seems to think it comes from there too. Also, why the hell has the second definition got so many thumbs-ups? Speaking of using the term 'f*****t' in a derogatory manner... Which reminds me of something that occurred to me as I back-read the last two pages: how the hell did the word f*****t go from meaning 'bundle of sticks' to 'gay person' anyway? I fail to see the through line.

"f*****t" also used to mean "old woman".

It's the whole "lol you're not a real man if you're gay" thing, I suppose.
