While many of her older cousins were hardened by the strife of war, Niva has yet to experience any sort of overwhelmingly negative event in her life. She knows only the small camp of banished Extremists and their Elaria offspring, of living in a jungle with an abundance of resources, and the comfortable security of living in a close-knit family tribe. She is safe, comfortable, and well-cared for. To Niva, this is a good and fortunate life.
Though it also helps that she considers herself (and expects others to consider her) an Elarian treasure.
Born the first Mystic of her species, Nivalis has an important role to play for her sisters, and it is one she takes seriously, even at a young age. While Niva is eager to learn the ways of the Mystic from her elder Alkidike cousin, she also thinks it important that she forge her own path. She is not leading a band of Alkidike, as the matron had, but is instead trying to establish her still-small tribe of Elaria sisters as a fearsome power in the world. It is her duty to see her camp to greatness, and she has every intention of doing just that.
But as a child, she knows she is still learning and is willing to allow herself some mistakes. Niva is impatient, a poor trait when dealing with the often unclear and undefined forces of the Mother Goddess. She likes for things to happen immediately, with quick, clear, and concise results, and she lacks the resolve to continue working toward something she deems 'unimportant' if it doesn't yield the results she wants in a timely manner. Which is why she is a poor swimmer and has little tolerance for the water, despite the training from her older cousins.
Perhaps if an Elaria had taken on her training, instead of an Alkidike, she would have shown more progress. As it stands, Nivalis doesn't appreciate her more experienced cousins' words of wisdom. They are from another place and another time, only a step above weakling Earthlings. The Alkidike on Zinris have at least some merit, being the founders of the Elaria, but all others are very near to worthless, and their words mean little. Niva holds no gentleness in her heart for anyone not of her own tribe.
But to both her older and younger sisters, she shows an absurd amount of adoration and respect. Though there are precious few older than her, they know the ways of their tribe and their jungle better than anyone else. They are a worthwhile source of knowledge, and Niva will do nearly anything to have their respect.
To the youngest Elaria of her tribe, she hopes to one day be a beacon of wisdom to them, as her elders are to her. Her youngest sisters are each treasures in their own right, and treasures that Niva had close-contact with at birth, thanks to her duties. Each bloom from Elzira's branches is a gift and should be treated as such. While Nivalis has very little patience as far as anything else goes, she's prepared to give as much of her time as needed to her younger sisters. She tries to be fair to all of them, and would never let it show if they were getting on her nerves.
For now, she is small, with still a long way to go in both her training and life, but she is eager to learn and improve and some day be what her tribe needs her to be. Description: Youngling Niva is a small girl, born in traditional colors of the Elaria tribe, with a murky grey body and pink-tipped hands, feet, ears, lips, eyelids, and antenna. Her eyes resemble those of a bug's, being a dense-looking solid mint in color. Her markings are simple, and of a more faded-cream than most of her tribe. They are in patterns of 'o's and small dots across her forehead, shoulders, calves, and diaphragm. Though she is only a child, she is slim and not likely to obtain the same bulk as many of her sisters. She has a round face with small, but full lips and long, pointed ears. Like those of her species, she has three sets of antenna; a set from the top of her head, and two more from behind her ears. The ones from behind her ears are often hidden by Niva's great piles of long, thick, red-berry colored dreadlocks. Prentice Despite her class advancement and the few years that have passed, Nivalis still possess a very small stature, compared to the other girl in her tribe. She retains all of her markings and physical details, but her face has lost of bit of that childish roundness, and her chest is starting to fill out just a bit as well. She is developing a lean and only very minutely noticeable bit of muscle definition, so perhaps she's not as weak as her size would make you think. Novice Mystic Nivalis is preparing quickly and diligently for her role as the first Elarian mystic. She is still young, but progressing at a rate befitting someone of her station. She is and will always be small in stature, but her chest and hips are filling out, and she grows more toned muscularly. Her hair is longer, and she's beginning to dress in a sort of tribalness with a witchy flair. Niva's ears and the bridge of her nose are pierced. Adept Mystic Despite her still-tender age of seventeen, Nivalis is learning well and taking on more important duties within her tribe. She's reached the point where she is unlikely to grow any taller, and remains one of the shortest of Elzira's children, though has developed an ample bosom and wide hips. She's taken on a few more piercings: various in her ears, as well as her belly button and septum in her nose. She dresses in attire the is somewhat immodest but free flowing, with piles of gaudy jewelry. H I S T O R Y
“It was a dark and stormy night in the small settlement of Zinris. The children were tucked in their beds, and their ever-vigilant guardians waited patiently for the tempest to subside. The winds were powerful. The rain was harsh. Branches tumbled from the highest canopies and shattered the homes they landed on. It was a dangerous night, too dangerous for parents to have their rest.
By the time the storm seemed to have quieted, the sun was rising, far off in the distance, spilling pink and gold light across the land and through the gaps in the trees. Then, quite suddenly, a loud, ear-splitting crack resounded through the camp. For a brief instant, the entirety of the world was bathed in light, heat, and the crackling remains of electric energy. Any other tree would have been downed instantly, but Elzira still remained. Some of the older Alkidike sisters thought it was an ill-omen, that the heavens themselves would split to attack a young goddess that never should have been. For others, it strengthened their resolve. Even the forces of nature could not make Elzira bow.
Either way, scarcely more than a day had passed when a new bud sprouted forth from Elzira’s branches, the most special blossom to ever bloom. A mystic infant. You.”
Such were the tales Nivalis grew up on and takes an absurd amount of pride in. A special bloom, the most special bloom is an idea she can get behind. She wants to be a source of comfort and strength for her sisters, and since all she’s ever known is the state of relative peace that things are now, it doesn’t seem a difficult task. Perhaps the future will bring strife. She isn’t weak and will be ready for whatever the world throws at her. Though she tries to understand where her older cousins are coming from when they call her an ‘ill-omen,’ it’s difficult to not be offended by what sounds like such blatant criticism.
But Niva is eager to prove them wrong. Let the world do what it will. Elzira will show her the path that will guide the tribe through whatever struggles it encounters.
She spent most of her youngest years training under the matron: studying languages (common earthling, the language of the trees, and the language of the ancestors), magic, the history of her tribe, and combat. Nivalis is ever eager for more and has a sort of guilty thought in that she hopes for some type of strife that would make her, even in her young age, useful. That being said, she's very frightened of losing her sisters and is simultaneously grateful that nothing too drastic has come up yet.
She has lost a sister, Zinnia, while traveling beyond the camp before. The death struck her hard and encouraged her to be stronger and more resilient and also to refrain from risking herself and others unnecessarily.
Aggressive Roots: The life of Elzira flows through the player. Roll for attack as normal. Boosts attack damage by x1.5. The player gains 4 HP in HP restored. Can only be used once every 5 turns. Considered a full turn action.
Novice Mystic ||
Dancing Petals: A slightly powerful attack that draws on the movement of falling petals. Roll for attack as normal. Damage is boosted +3 for that turn, and speed gains +2 for three turns. Can only be used once every 3 turns. Considered a full turn attack.

-- After two years of living with her new bug familiar, Niva is really starting to wish the thing would just hurry up and die (little sis bonding). -- Now older, Niva is ready to take on lessons that will move her farther from camp, like tracking and hunting. She also prepares for her first lessons in spellcasting. -- Weapon choosing, in which Niva takes up the spear to use in conjunction with her magical abilities. For the first time, she is permitted to stand by (and not take part) as the Matron works her magic to heal an injured sister. -- Nearing the end of her years as an apprentice Mystic, Niva has her first run-in with death. The loss is unexpected, and shakes her more than she ever could have anticipated. She knows she must forge ahead, regardless of this.

She can be... a bit stiff and doesn't seem especially keen to be happy, ever, but I suppose that comes with the burden of needing to be the best. I cannot match her in any test of skills or combat, but perhaps one day I can find some other way to impress her.' ❤Pruu: An Elaria girl living in a thoroughly blended Alk/Elaria household. Twin to Pyrrha, played by Cornetified. 'Pruu is... A girl who has as much determination as someone much older than herself, even I can see that. She fears for the reputation she may have because one of her Alkidike guardians is softer than the rest. I do not think she needs to fear at all. Already, my sisters are beginning to blossom and move away from dependency toward the Alkidike. We are not free of them yet, but someday we will be, and it won't matter how they raised us. Pruu is doing well, despite her struggles, and I am grateful we were able to spend a little time together.' ❤Pyrrha: A 'hippie' Elarian that often ventures off on her own. I happened to be away from the main camp, and this mainland Alkidike insect managed to wander too far into our territory. It is true that I only barely have respect for my cousins who came to Yael and raised my sisters and I from infanthood, but those who stayed behind on the mainland are worse than trash. They are weak, to allow themselves to live and breed with earthling scum, and foolish to have banished their own family to an accursed island. They are not welcome here, and I sent this one away after a display of my magical prowess.'
Familiars ¤Cidae: Niva's one and only unwanted pet. 'I genuinely believe all of my sisters mean well. None of them would ever do anything to intentionally agitate me, I hope. But Zinnia tested that belief when she gave me this thing. I do not like pets. I think they are useless. This maglardilla creature is certainly the most useless among them. All it does is eat and scuttle. It provides no use to me at all. Zinnia called it 'yard art,' which is also useless. But at least it likely won't live long. It's just a bug, after all.'
My NPCs ❤Atris: An Elaria girl only slightly older than Nivalis herself. She has an identical twin, Niteo. Short Description: Atris and Niteo are unique to Nivalis in that they are the only pair she cannot tell apart. They look the same, act the same, speak the same, and seem determined not to stand out to much of anyone. They are close to each other and interesting in their identicalness, but there is otherwise not much of note about them. They are not the most vocal or the best well-trained, and are not interested in much of anything. 'More than anything else, I am curious about this pair. Most of my sisters are eager to know me and aid me where they can, but Atris and Niteo are always so distant... I have learned that Atris is a dancer, and both she and her sister were raised by a single Alkidike. They are also impossibly wise beyond their years, and it does't seem that they often wish to hide the truth of anything from anyone.' ¤Cyenna: The Alkidike woman that oversaw Niva's first swim lessons. Short Description: Cyenna is among one of the older Alkidikes in the tribe, though she is still very active in the training of her younger sisters and Elaria, alike. She is well-trusted among her peers (and the Matron), and her methods seem to yield good results, given enough time. She is a stern and practical teacher, who regularly pushes her pupils beyond their own limits. She hs no patience for excuses or weakness, but has a softer side when outside of training. 'Perhaps we got off on the wrong foot, during our first session together. It was one of my very first physical training exercises to be overseen by someone other than the Matron, so I feel it wasn't right for me to be blamed for not knowing what exactly I was doing. I was smaller than her other charges and less experienced, but I was still expected to keep up! She is a vicious taskmaster, but I think her intentions were good, if a bit harsh.' ❤Desari: The Alkidike woman who raised Zinnia, Nivalis' closest friend. Short Description: A middle-aged Alkidike spear-wielder. Like many of her sisters, she was banished to Yael with nothing; torn from her home and forced to endure a changing lifestyle, separation from her mother, and distance from her known family. She sought a bloom from Elzira as soon as she was able and raised the child who sprouted from it as her own. Zinnia was her world, but that world was taken from her once the girl was killed by Yaelians. 'I am ever-skeptical of how closely I should become involved in the lives of my cousins. Alkidike are... not quite worth as much as the lives of Elaria, but Desari treated us as if we were her own blood, not just a distant relative, as some do, but as if we were bloomed from the same tree. I am not close with her, but the girl she raised, Zinnia, was my closest friend. And Zinnia could speak for hours and hours. I assume that because I heard very little negative about Desari, that she must not be a terrible person. She asked that I remember her daughter as she was before her death, and I think I will try to do just that.' ❤Kaygha: One of the youngest Alkidike to grace the Zinris camp. She desperately wants to be Niva's friend. Short Description: Kaygha was very young when her guardians brought her to Yael's soil. Though she is older than Niva by more than a decade, she retains a sort of childish innocence. While many of the Alkidike and Elaria are engaged in a sort of political war amongst themselves, Kaygha sees all of Zinris' inhabitants as family. She is nondiscriminatory between her sisters and cousins and is generally friendly toward everyone. She has, however, taken a special interest in a certain Elaria mystic. 'Kaygha is... an Alkidike, so I wouldn't think to give her the same respect that is due my sisters. Many of my older cousins are all I have in terms of knowledge and training, but I'm not much looking for 'friends' among the Alkidike. Usually. But Kaygha seems to try very hard to grant me the things that please me (an attitude all my cousins should adopt), and she has known Yael and this tribe for most of her life, unlike many others. Perhaps she would be an adequate voice for her remaining sisters, when it seems necessary.' ❤Layeta: An Alkidike spearmaiden. She has taken on Nivalis' tutelage in the subject. Short Description: An older Alkidike woman that is mother to the Alkidike, Akacia. Layeta was already up in her years by the time the Extremists made their way to Sauti. She's always fiercely believed that she and her sisters deserved the whole world. While that likely won't happen during her time, she has taken to Yaeli banishment quite nicely. Though her daughter is violently against Elaria, Layeta has adopted them as her own tribe and fully committed herself to preparing the new race for the future. She's even taken over guardianship of a bloom even younger than Nivalis. 'Layeta is a respectable woman, as far as Alkidike are concerned. Though many of her sisters show what looks to me like regret for going against their tribe and being exalted to Yael, Layeta shows none. She is prepared for our future and seems more than willing to help my sisters and I in our new dawn. As such, I have chosen her to be my designated weapons mentor. She has many battles under her belt and knows our style and tactics well. She is a good, reliable choice, and I expect that if I am ever in need of wisdom that far exceeds Elaria years, she will do for that, as well.' ❤Matron (Shop NPC): The Alkidike elder currently in charge of the Zinris camp. As a former Mystic, she is Niva's teacher and guardian. Short Description: A proud woman that spent the majority of her life on Chibale, reading the signs of the great Mother tree, Aisha. With her goddess starting to wilt, the Matron led a revolt of Alkidike extremists against hybrids and Earthlings in protest of her sisters that would find love outside of the Alkidike tribe. After a lost battle, she and her followers were banished to the island of Yael, where the seed of a new Mother tree was planted and bloomed. Elzira sprang forth, and now the matron guides the new goddess' first mystic through her training. 'The matron has led our tribe since its birth. She is the one who planted Elzira's seed on Yaeli soil, and the one who cared for my Mother tree in her infancy. She has been alive for many years, and has much wisdom to share with any who seek her council. I trust her word and her teachings, as she is the only source I have for how to live out my life as an Elarian mystic. Or, more accurately, just a mystic. I hold fast to the thought that Elzira is not like Aisha, and I have no doubt that my path will be different from the Matron's, but for now, she is the greatest source of knowledge I have.' ❤Niteo: An Elaria girl only slightly older than Nivalis herself. She has an identical twin, Atris. Short Description: Atris and Niteo are unique to Nivalis in that they are the only pair she cannot tell apart. In their youngest years, she took it upon herself to be the mystic's best friend and shadow as often as she could, and while Niva wasn't especially interested at first, she grew to accept and expect to have her friend by her side. Unfortunately, nearing the end of their prentice years, the two went in search of a Yaeli Earthling encampment. Zinnia was shot and killed, despite Niva's efforts to save her. 'This should not have happened. When I think back on it, I think of all the things we could have and should have done differently. We were young and foolish, but for as long as I've been alive I've been learning the path of Mystic. My duty is to lead my tribe. Protect my sisters. Guide and help them in any way they need. I did not wield the arrow that pierced Zinnia's heart, but I may as well have. I can blame no one but myself. I have betrayed my family and everything I've been taught up until this point... I must carry this burden and learn from my mistakes. I will not lead another of my sister's to her death. Ever.'
