Rumors are spreading of a traveler who has entered the area. Apparently, this traveler has a strange item they claim comes from a different time. It's hard to believe what people are saying, and the only way to really know what is going on is if you see it with your own eyes. So, you make it a point to travel to where the traveler was last sighted, and as you approach you notice a crowd. The traveler is holding up an object, high above their head, and shouting across the crowd. Some approach to get a closer look, some appear fearful, but everyone can agree...this is something no one has ever seen before.
What exactly is the traveler showing off? Roll 1d6 to determine what strange item has been found using the guide below:
Rolled 1-2
The traveler pulls out a strange piece of metal, warped a bit on the edges and covered with an unknown language. It looked similar to what you've read, and you think you can make out words, but overall it doesn't make much sense.

Rolled 3-4
The traveler pulls out a strange piece of metal, wound around and almost bouncy in nature. It seems a bit sharp on the edges, but in general it looks like it could possibly be some sort of jewelry piece, if it was smaller.

Rolled 5-6
The traveler pulls two strange pieces of metal, which don't seem to go together outside of their color. One is covered in a language that sort of looks familiar, but isn't fully legible. The other is a winding spiral, which is too big to wrap comfortably around a wrist.

Make sure to respond with your reaction to these items. What do you think they could be?

There were instances where Nivalis wondered what sorts of strange things the Earthlings kept in their cities. No, it was more than that. She wondered what sort of strange things were anywhere beyond the confines of her camp and her cousins' watch, even just out in the woods, farther than she was allowed to go. Or maybe deep in the ocean, along a sandy bed well out of her reach.
She loved her home and her sisters, and really had no intention of leaving for more than a night or two ever, but that didn't mean the rest of the world wasn't still out there, silently taunting her curiosity. It would be nice to know of anything beyond Zinris' borders. It would be equally nice to know of things within her own camp, though.
She sat on one of Elzira's gnarled roots, desperately trying to keep her mind from wandering and hoping that her theory of 'contact bonding' applied just as much to her mother goddess as it did to her sisters. If she stayed very near to Elzira, perhaps she would be more likely to receive her messages. Because at current, Nivalis had to wonder if there wasn't some sort of communication error between them. She'd finished all her early training and was ready to be a useful part of her tribe. She was ready to share with her sisters and cousins whatever wisdom their goddess offered them.
...But there was still no sign of feedback from her mother.
Niva knew (prayed) that she oughtn't worry. Perhaps there was simply nothing of such importance that needed to be brought to her attention, yet. Perhaps seven was too young from a goddess' standpoint to place the burdens of a species on.
Or perhaps there'd been a mistake. Perhaps Niva wasn't what her tribe needed her to be. Perhaps Elzira had hoped for more from the young girl and been disappointed in the results. Maybe Nivalis wasn't smart or strong or brave enough to handle-
"Nivalis?"
She started with a quiet gasp, green eyes popping open and body lurching back in quiet alarm. Her gaze met the yellow-green kneecaps of one of her younger cousins and then immediately darted up to her face. The girl was unlike many of her elders, nowhere near as strict, not suited to be an effective tutor, and absurdly shy. Niva didn't usually mind Kaygha as she minded most of her cousins, but the manner of this encounter left her promptly annoyed.
While her heart still hammered from the unexpected intrusion and her face still burned from the needless fear, Nivalis hissed, "Cousin, why have you disturbed me?"
If the Alkidike female noticed the distress, she ignored it. She stepped in closer, her bare feet carefully avoiding contact with Elzira's roots that Niva made as her perch, and dipped to crouch closer to the youngling's eye level. "I've brought you something, Mystic." Her tone was soft, but her dark gaze and toothy grin full of excitement. Niva wouldn't admit she was curious, but she perched forward anyway, as the other female unraveled a smooth, metallic glistening object from its cloths.
It might've been an old weapon, or at least, a piece of one. The edges looked a bit sharp, but it was hardly of use to anyone now. Niva leaned in a bit closer. Maybe a magic weapon, with weird words (spells?) on it. Even for all the languages the young mystic could speak and read, this one wasn't entirely familiar.
She reached out to collect the item from the Alkidike without bothering to ask. Kaygha had said it was for her, after all, and the metal piece was passed to her without complaint. The thing was undoubtedly not from the Zinris camp. Which meant it was an Earthling thing.
"Where did it come from?" She queried after another once-over.
Kaygha looked quite pleased wit herself, and she sat a bit straighter. "Got it off a wondering merchant. One of those Yaeli boys traveling too far from home. He didn't have much. I thought this was best."
Maybe 'best' wasn't quite the right word. The thing was entirely useless, and if a merchant had let it be taken from him, it couldn't possibly be valuable. But it wasn't made by Elaria or even Alkidike, and it came from the Yaeli settlements. Useless or not, it was hers now. A thing, a rare bit of insight, from some other part of the world. And that made it glorious, in its own way. If more of her cousins brought her presents, they might get along better.
"The next time you go, you should bring me... some of their clothes. Or some of their food. Or maybe a whole weapon," Niva informed her new 'friend.' "Mother says it is important that I learn of the world, so you should bring me many things to help me learn, since the matron won't let me go too far from camp." She smiled in the most charming way she could, and reached to brush small pink fingers against her cousin's arm. "Don't forget, okay?"
