Apprentice Description ミ At sixteen years old, Rewi is an average youngster, as far as he is concerned. Average height, average weight, neither especially beautiful nor exceptionally hideous. He has neatly styled black hair, shaved on one side and kept appropriately short, large almond-shaped avocado-green eyes, three whisker-like barbels on either side of his mouth, and two sets of gills on his neck. His skin is a desaturated green-brown to help him blend in with his swampy home and mottled in algae-green colored scales around his chest and shoulders.
His first tattoo is one of simple black lines resembling something similar to a four-leafed clover on the inside of his right wrist. He keeps himself well-covered, despite the heat, and usually dresses in the garments his family is capable of making, crafted from the reed grasses, broad leaves, and colored stones of their farm. He is a boy of simple needs and doesn't often want for much (or want to work for much), and so is adorned simply.
Journeyman Description ミ At seventeen years old, the days when Rewi's metabolism could make up for his lazy demeanor are beginning to wane. Afternoons spent sunbathing and mud-rolling instead of working are staring to show, particularly around his gut, thighs, and cheeks, as he's begun to grow outward a bit more noticeably. He stands at his full adult height of 5'9", near average for his race, but there is otherwise little more of note about him than there was previously.
Rewi's second tattoo has come at this age. It is positioned at either side of his head, starting at the junction where his jaw meets his ear, swooping around the back of his ear, and being visible down along his neck as well. It's shaped as a series of black lines of varying thickness resembling wings or currents, in honor of his journey to Pale'iko. Said journey has given him access to some of the more whimsical clothing worn by the Kaha'iko race, including baubels and stone, and slightly brighter, more airy fabrics.
Personality ミ Born the last of six children, Rewi has never been pressed to do overly much with himself, since his five older siblings are usually enough manpower to harvest the marsh grasses on which the family make their living. His parents, brothers, and sisters have always taken care of Rewi, so he is content to breeze through life, shamefully leaving the hard work to others. He is generally very easy-going, calm, peaceful, and accepting of most things without a fuss, despite the rougher and less forgiving nature of the Menehune.
Where others are concerned, he is friendly and treats everyone he meets like family, giving nothing but smiles and well-wishes. But he is quickly starting to lose respect with his actual siblings, due to his horribly crippling laziness and fickleness of his promises. "Later" is his favorite word, often claiming that he will get to tasks "later" while never having the intention of doing any such thing.
Rewi isn't especially intelligent, but he is compassionate, sympathetic, and always willing to lend a listening ear, even if any physical labors he offers aren't likely to happen. He is patient, but doesn't seem interested in using this particular talent to hone any type of crafting skill. Despite his age, he is currently directionless, unmotivated, and disinterested in full-fledged adulthood.

Child ミ Rewi is the youngest of six children, and it is a fact he is well aware of. All were born in the small settlement of Naele, where the family tends to their small farm of reed grasses both for use as sustenance and trading material to the nearby Kaha'iko. During his earliest years, Rewi relied solely on his siblings to fulfill any needs he may have. He never expressed an interest in being independent and doesn't even attempt to do much on his own without substantial prompting.
He's never been adventurous and doesn't seem especially inspired to make the journey toward the lands of the other races. Instead, he is content to spend his days at home, watching his siblings work the land and whittle his time away doing nothing except what interests him and pleases him personally. Despite his friendly nature, he hasn't made any attempts to form any long-lasting friendly bonds. Or bonds of any sort, for that matter.
While this was deemed acceptable behavior for a child, most of Rewi's family are starting to grow impatient with him. This laziness is not befitting a blossoming adult, and a young man with no connections to the outside world isn't likely to have a prosperous life. Though they haven't made any decisions yet, Rewi's parents are quickly coming to the conclusion that their youngest son won't change on his own, and it might be time to force him into action.
Apprentice ミ After three hundred years of uncertainty regarding the state of drought afflicting their home, the races of Kahikina decided to come together for a meeting to determine if there was anything they could do to reverse the effects of the droughts drying up their waters. Rewi's father enlisted the aid of his lazy youngest son to travel with him to the far reaches of Noelani, and the two began to prepare.
However, on the day they were to set out, Rewi's father admitted that he had never personally intended to travel into Pale'iko waters at all, and that he and Rewi's mother had decided some time ago that they needed some form of important activity to send their unmotivated youngster on.
Rewi was charged with journeying to Noelani alone, and though he held many anxieties in his heart, it struck him as important that his parents thought he was someone who could be trusted to tend to the task. Before departing, he received his second tattoo along the side of his head, marking that he personally believes this to be a pivotal moment for him and something that he must be able to manage. To help him and give him courage along the way, Rewi asks his friend, Kaimi to accompany him, and the two set out for the rivers of Pale'iko.

Apprentice ミ Balhira ミ A Menehune girl that Rewi met on his first 'work' trip to the market. They initially got off on the wrong foot, as Rewi tried to coerce Balhira into assisting his family move reed packs to sell in town, but they were able to reconcile and came to an agreement where Rewi was able to make his first trade: Balhira's glass beads for his family's reeds. Malea ミ A young Menehune girl Rewi met during an expedition to gather supplies and barter for his and his father's upcoming trip to Noelani. Rewi is a bit slow to the uptake, and generally uncertain with what he needs and where to find it, but Malea was willing to help out, and she stuck by him for the entirety of the trip, pointing out anything she could to help him. Kaimi ミ A Menehune boy a bit younger than Rewi who is singularly focused on his job as a collector of crystals via digging. The two boys had a few run-ins in which they became friends. Out of fear of going alone, Rewi invited Kaimi to journey to Noelani with him, so that Rewi could fulfill the task given to him by his father.
Journeyman ミ Kaimi ミ While alongside his friend, Kaimi, Rewi begins his journey to Noelani. Unfortunately, rains halt their journey, and even lead them to danger. They are forced to turn back with the mission incomplete, but with Rewi having a greater understanding and fear of how his actions might affect others. Nikora ∇ During his trip back through the rivers to return to the swamp, Rewi meets a young Kaha'iko named Nikora, who manages to convince him to escort her to the oceans, alongside one of the first adventure parties to head that way. The eventually part ways, with her staying behind in Haukea while he again begins the journey home.

Journeyman ミ Solo: Playing with Kaha’iko children to learn about dolls + encroaching clouds. PRP: WE with Kaimi in next town, rains halt their journey before they arrive in Noelani. PRP: WE with Kahurangi, rains still going, but Rewi is ready to be out of the river. PRP: WE with Nikora, attempts to escape Ukupaia weren't immediately forthcoming. Instead, he catches a young girl also trying to get out of town. Solo: After Nikora refuses to return inland with him, Rewi debates about whether he should stay with her, or head back as planned. He eventually decides it's not his place to control her, so he ought to follow his own path and return home and leave her to her wishes. He returns to the river to inform her parents.

Character Name:Rewi Oukela Journal:[Boop] Profession:Doll Maker! Using the reeds/grasses his family grows, he'll craft toy dolls and experiment with other more whimsical creations. It is something he discovers he enjoys doing while in Pale'iko, so has not stumbled upon 'doll maker' as his craft specifically, yet. I'm not super pleased with how this design came out (tattoos are pretty hard for me!), so artist may interpret the actual tattoo linework as they see fit. I would like it to peek out where the top of his ear meets his jaw, swoop around, and then be visible beneath his ear as well. It is supposed to be tribal current/wavy or even resemble fluid-like wings with varying line width. His hair is shaved fully down where the tattoo was placed, but otherwise hairstyle remains unchanged.
Rewi is in Kaha'iko waters now, so I'd like for his clothing to kind of reflect that! He should still be wearing some of the reed-like adornments that his family is capable of making, but something that looks like it's been traveled in and is splashed with hints of the brighter Kaha'iko colors would be great! Body Type: I've always seen Rewi as a little bit big-boned and a touch thicker. He is a lazy boy who sits idle pretty often!
