Last day to post forms is March 22nd.

As you are likely aware, the Motoujamii-Simo lost its only remaining owner in the lined-pride purge that took place in November. As the Firekin are considered a "shop pride," they do not lose their lines; rather, the pride itself will be rehomed. We apologize for the delay between loss of ownership and this contest, but there was a lot to do and figure out (and, as always, life will be life). After speaking with a previous owner of the pride, we've finally gotten our plan settled, so it's contest time!

OOC Information

How this will work...
  • Everyone is free to enter this contest, regardless of whether or not you currently have any Firekin (or even any SoAs, really). Leadership characters will be provided for the winners.
  • Rather than entering in groups, you will be entering individually. We will choose 2-3 winners from the entrants to be the new group who runs the pride. You should be prepared and able to work with ANYONE who might enter, to share responsibilities, communicate, and work together. If you prove incapable of this, after investigation you may be removed as leader.
  • The leadership characters provided, which you will meet further down in this thread, will be considered Feature Characters; if, for some reason, you lose your OOC leadership position and do not regain it within 4 months, the shop [working in conjunction with the remaining owner(s)] may kill or rehome your leadership character. In this way, OOC leadership can change without having to put the pride through another IC upheaval.

If you win...
  • You're going to have a fair amount of work to do, so be ready! You'll need to set up your subforum, and determine how you will manage joining requests, breedings, the member list, etc. For joining and breeding, you may stay with the current system of PMing for approvals or set up threads to be posted in; for the owner list, you can either have one that you maintain, or a member-maintained list. Discuss it with your fellow pride owner(s) and decide.
  • If you wish, get into contact with Kimaria, who has expressed an interest in helping with getting some of the administrative work up to date after the recent lapse, and can provide you with the information for the pride's current mule, photobucket, etc.
  • You should also get in touch with Ecavi, who has additional information about the history of the Hongshan, and owns their leader (and the only current Magistrate with an owner), Nawvlee.
  • Even once all the basics are set up, there will still be a lot to do! The Firekin have always been a fairly active pride with high member participation in events, and there will be a lot going on ICly for you to work with! We will also be providing you with several characters to distribute via contests. You will receive to contest off: Ukame'chaka, the new Safi Magistrate; Agni-pariksha's father, mother, and brother; and Na-atesh's father, mother, and sisters.
  • While this contest will supply the two new Regents (with a third who will also occupy an important rank, depending on which that third is), you will also need to go about the process of filling some of the other important ranks that don't currently have occupants: Head Hunter/Huntress, Quartermaster, Midwife, and possibly a few others, which will vary depending on who is not elected Regent. These should not all be occupied by the OOC leaders - please provide some opportunity for pride members!
  • Be prepared to work with shop staff, Meepfur in particular. While we won't be all up in your business, the Firekin are an old and beloved pride, and it's important that they stay quintessentially Firekin. Change happens, of course, and makes things interesting, but massive changes will need to be approved by the shop (leaving the desert, suddenly allowing rogue breeding, or loosening color restrictions, for instance). This is not to say that there can't be changes, they just need to be reasonable, both ICly and OOCly.
  • You will be subject to all of the usual rules and requirements associated with owning a lined pride, such as the quarterly activity purges and yearly events.

Further OOC and IC Information

What about the current Regents?
Don't worry, nothing bad is happening to them! Kidondo and No are getting old, and have decided that the time has come for them to step down in favor of a younger generation. They will retire and become Elders.

How will the new leaders be determined?
Fortunately, there is a mechanism in place for this! New Regents are to be voted on by the Council and by the pride as a whole. Every adult member of the pride gets a vote. After careful consideration, the current Council has narrowed the pool down to three candidates on which the pride will vote. Rumor and speculation as to why these particular three were chosen will, of course, run rampant.

But I want MY Firekin to be a candidate!
Sorry. ;; We decided, for a few reasons, that it would be best to have 'Feature Characters' as candidates instead. This way, anyone can enter, regardless of whether or not they have a character who would be suited to the position, and as stated in the post above, this way the characters can be rehomed if necessary. While your character may have put themselves forward as a candidate, they were not chosen as a part of the final group.

Hey! These characters didn't exist before! What gives?
Since it wouldn't make sense to have a bunch of non-natives running and in the final pool for Regent, we have retconned in some native-born Firekin for use in this contest. In the case of two of the three, their parents and siblings will be among the SoAs the winners receive to contest off.

Their bios are a little vague...
We've tried to give each character just enough definition for people to decide who to vote for, without giving them too much, so that you'll have room to flesh them out. There are also a few tidbits about them that we've withheld, as they're not public knowledge and as such shouldn't factor into the voting process. These tidbits will be provided to the winners.

Who will get which Feature Character?
If you win, you'll have to work that out with your fellow winners.

But...there are only two Regent positions.
Correct! The character who isn't elected will take another high-ranking position - which position they end up in depends on which character it is. Once the winners of the contest and election have been determined, the new OOC leaders will be given that information.

What if both female candidates win?
Then both the Regents will be female! We're aware that this is a slight departure from how the Regent system was originally outlined, but the Council has determined that having one Regent of each gender is less important than having the best possible individuals in that rank. If the pride decides that the best ones for the job both happen to be female, then so be it.

Is there actually going to be an election?
Yes! The election will run concurrently with this contest, and can be found here.

So, what about the Nergui?!
Following the Retribution ORP, the Nergui have gone silent. There have been no sightings, no word. At this point, ICly, no one knows if they're gone for good, or if they've just gone quiet. Are they planning something, perhaps? For the moment, it's a mystery... (OOCly, the winners may work with Kimaria to decide if the Nergui will become involved with the Firekin again.)

The Candidates

User Image
Tapana
to bask before a fire

Background:
The only child so far of Tezi and Niwasha'Hewa, and thus yet another descendant of the prominent Safi bloodline of Mwali and Azachamorel, Tapana is the youngest candidate for Regent. When she was of age, she apprenticed into the Guard, and wasted no time in distinguishing herself...or in distancing herself from her traditionalist heritage. Within months, she moved from Guard to Sentinel, and served so exceptionally that she was recently promoted to Legate. Well-travelled and battle-tested, she is very conscious that there is more to the world than the Motoujamii, and always keeps a calculating eye on the bigger picture. Slow to rouse but ruthless in anger, there is a force to be reckoned with beneath her calm and controlled exterior.

Lineage:
Those to whom bloodline is important will note that she has the most old Firekin blood, being at least half-blooded and possibly three-quarters (her father is supposedly a rogue-born half-blood, but this is impossible to verify).

Physically, she is large and imposing with a smattering of fetching scars, the very picture of what a 'real' Firekin looks like.

Public Views:
Regarding the Safi:
While their past strength and persistence were admirable, it is high time that we let go of the past. The Firekin are stronger now than ever before...without Finar-si, slaves, or a royal family.
Regarding the Hongshan:
Maybe it's time to stop calling them Hongshan and just start calling them what they are now, or should be: Firekin! They've been around for quite some time, have proven themselves, and have interbred with the pride. They should be formally absorbed.
Regarding the Nergui:
They've been looming over the Firekin for far too long, and their sudden absence is as much cause for concern as it is for hope. Sentinels and Watchers should be sent to - carefully! - look into the matter, to determine the whereabouts and status of the Nergui, and to assess the risk they do or do not pose. If they have truly moved on, it would be best to simply monitor rather than provoke them.
Regarding the Future:
We cannot afford to sit idle, content in our power, and forget that there is more to the world than the piece we occupy. Intelligence is as great an asset as our strength, and if we are to avoid more surprises like the Nergui, we need to be more proactive in gathering and using information, and perhaps even in seeking alliances, or at least contact.

Rumors:
According to popular rumor, she is estranged from her parents and hasn't spoken to them since she began her apprenticeship. Whether that's been her choice or theirs varies depending on who's spreading the gossip.

Agni-pariksha
trial by fire

Background:
Agni-pariksha was rough-and-tumble from the start, and it was a foregone conclusion that she would become a Soldier. She first earned herself the title of Battlemaster, then went on to rise through the military ranks: Captain, Corporal, and finally Brigadier. She is less serious than some Hongshan...she fights hard, make no mistake, but she enjoys every second of it. Nothing makes her happier than a good fight! Don't think she's all brawn and no brain, though; she's as good a strategist as she is a warrior. She has generally been well-liked by those who've served with or under her, as she is genuinely interested in their wellbeing and has a good sense of humor. She's the loudest, least political candidate, who very cheerfully slings casual profanity. She's a soldier, so why whouldn't she talk like one?

Lineage:
Those to whom bloodline is important will note that she is half-Hongshan, possibly with some distant Firekin ancestry (there was a story in her rogue-born mother's family about being descended from the Firekin, though this is impossible to verify).

Physically, Agni-pariksha is a powerhouse of muscle, though her stature is halfway between that of an average rogue and a Firekin. She is heavily scarred from frequent fighting.

Public Views:
Regarding the Safi:
Why is this even a thing anymore? Seriously, everyone who was even around for that war is, like, ********' ancient. Get over it.
Regarding the Hongshan:
What's not to like? We're the best soldiers, and everyone knows it! And have you seen our festivals? You should! Hell, the whole pride should come. They're awesome. Anyway, we ought to stick together, it's been good for everybody.
Regarding the Nergui:
I don't know where they went, but we need to find those bastards. No way I believe they're gone for good, and I'd rather go and get them now than sit on my a** and wait for them to come back.
Regarding the Future:
Besides getting rid of the Nergui? s**t. See who else is out there. What else. Remind them that the Firekin are here, and they still don't want to mess with us. Best defense is a good offense, yeah? No one should even think about trying to go up against us, much less actually try it. Keep 'em scared and n** it in the bud, problem solved.

Rumors:
Rumor has it that Agni-pariksha was in agreement with a male to have cubs together, but one of them backed out. Which one and why are ripe for speculation! Some dismiss this as mere gossip, as no one seems to know what male was involved, but others say he's simply too embarrassed to come forward...or maybe she's intimidating him to stay silent.

Na-atesh
no fire

Background:
Na-atesh is the oldest of the three candidates, born to two former rogues who joined shortly after the divided Motoujamii became whole again. He and his siblings were something of a disappointment: he 'fireless' and his sisters Huria. Under immense pressure from the start, he was a driven youth who pursued a career in the military, training tirelessly and obeying orders to the letter, always doing everything exactly as it should be done or better. He advanced to Captain, then Corporal, and then...stopped. He turned his back on the career he'd spent his whole life building in favor of becoming a Medic, a choice he has never fully explained to anyone. He was as diligent in his training as ever, though, and in time became a Doctor. He is stern - some might even go so far as to say 'gruff' or 'cranky' - but never needlessly harsh.

Lineage:
Those to whom bloodline is important will note that both of his parents were rogue-born, and he carries no old blood. He has two sisters, both of whom are Huria and as such are no longer in the pride.

Physically, Na-atesh is slightly larger than the average rogue, but in excellent physical condition and bears his fair share of scars - more than Tapana, less than Agni-pariksha.

Public Views:
Regarding the Safi:
This Safi-Simo nonsense is just that: nonsense! The rebellion happened, the Safi lost, and everyone is much better for it. We don't need goddesses, we certainly don't need slaves, and we're just fine without a monarchy.
Regarding the Nergui:
If they're gone, good riddance, and let them stay that way! If we do too much poking around, we risk drawing their attention again. Let it be, before there are any more casualties.
Regarding the Hongshan:
Good soldiers, I'll give them that. We could've done without inheriting their problems, but what's done is done. They're ours now, and you won't catch me complaining about it.
Regarding the Future:
Everything's running fairly smoothly as is, and it should stay that way. No sense in trying to fix something that isn't broken. We have our home, we have each other, and no reason to go looking for any kind of trouble. We should keep an eye on the outside, but keep to ourselves. Keep being ourselves, and keep ourselves alive.

Rumors:
Rumors abound as to why Na-atesh changed careers so suddenly, and run the gamut from a training mishap that resulted in the maiming or death of an Apprentice to an affair with a subordinate (or superior?) that ended poorly. Others prefer to assume that he's really just a coward.

Do you have any specific plans, or plot or event ideas for the Firekin? Please summarize:

HELL TO THE YES.

The Nergui, for now, remain silent. The land, slowly recovering from drought, and the borders, now less restricted, have drawn eyes. Eyes whom heard tale of the adoption of the Hongshan. While two are now one, the homeless and the needy have approached and threaten to overtake the tired pride - after all, a weary warrior in combat may yet slip. Within, the difficulty of finding mates from years past has made the blood thick, dangerous to attempt, for inbreeding after fourth generation in-pride is considered criminal.

The blood of the pride must be diluted. To this end, it is proposed to allow strong, healthy females to see rogues to sire cubs, and bring the cubs into the pride. The tradition of Huria may continue yet, although a blue refugee soon admits to having once seen a flame of bright shiningblue, pleading his pelt matches the flame restrictions. Disbelieved, the male is cast away... Until an oasis fire burns hot, and that same fire's core emits blue flame. A meeting is called when the flames extinguish to discuss the future of blue[/] firekin born in-pride - be they flames hot enough to burn; or shamed outcasts of all?

What of the flood of refugees; or the need to thin the blood for safe prosperity for the future of the pride? What will become of the pride as a whole? The future questions the present and it is time to focus indeed.

(tl;dr of summary:
- Rogue breeding (Mother x Unknown father) would be approved as is Mix 'n' Matches to add fresh blood to the pride to diversify
- Blues, of the bright variety, may be added. Blue flames burn very hot in science; observation of the phenomenon would be the key to this
- REFUGEE PLOTLINE. Outsiders from nameless dispersed prides, and even plain dispersed prides, will be seen pounding at the borders. Challenges will occur and the pride will be fighting to judge them, but this can lead into a new meta eventually.)

Do you have any specific plans, or plot or event ideas for the Firekin? Please summarize:
So as a warning, I've been thinking about this one a VERY long time... :'D Ironically this was the EASY part for me!)

OOC plans
  • Swap the owner's list to the Pridelands model - Everybody is responsible for their own post, missing lions will not be permitted to breed; There will be a mule-made post(Third post in - First is intro, second form) for the Special Ranks (Magistrate, Brigadier, Legate, etc.). That way, everybody knows who's actually go the ranks and is active.
  • New pridal PB? Unless we can have access to the current one, which would be totally fab and save time. If so, catch that up with ALL uncert images possible!
  • Have an open-to-see thread where people can post joining AND breeding requests, so it's easier for staff to say "Oh hey, they're keeping on top of this aspect of pride ownership"
  • Have a temporary check-in thread for everybody's Firekin - There's been a LOT of inactivity in the pride(I'm no less guilty of this, but it's hard to RP with a fairly small pool of active people to RP WITH), especially amid higher ranks! Everybody would have two months to post checking in with the status of their lion(s), then any special ranks like Legate or General that aren't posted would LOSE their rank... But not kicked from the pride. They would simply go back down to Soldier or Guard. Any others who have failed to check in will simply be assumed missing, or lost in the desert, or just somewhere in the background - Nobody would be kicked for failing the check! Should the owner come back after a hiatus, all they would have to do is post in the joining/breeding thread that they still want their lion in the pride, give the cert as proof, and bam they're done, no new duel needed! MIA lions on the lines don't need the cert, of course.
  • Activity check for closed ranks! Once somebody wins a rank, they need to continue to show they're not just collecting a pretty and hard-to-get rank, they need to post an RP with THAT specific lion at least once every six months or so. Not nearly as often as a pridal purge RP, but still frequently enough to say "I'm still here, I still want this rank, and I am willing to 'fight' to keep it"

IC plans
  • Clean up some of the ranks taken up by people who are no longer even in the shop, let alone on Gaia - See above about check-in thread for details on the OOC aspect of that! Anybody who checks in would, of course, keep their rank.
  • Hold a tournament for the higher ranks, with minor restrictions - Only Guards and Soldiers could enter the tournament to become the new General, as an example; Entry would be fairly easy OOCly, just post a form with your lion's name, certed image(As proof of membership and rank), five RPs within the pride from the past two years, and why they think they would be good for the rank(Though this part has no impact on the final result - The final result will be determined by tiered duel systems).
  • The naming restrictions would be lightened JUST a bit! Looking back at the old pride, OOCly founding members would be kicked out now for their names. Makadari - First king of the pride, OOCly speaking; His name meant Might of God. His daughter, Mwezi... We don't need to pick that apart, we know what it means! Damu, Blood, pride in lineage, also kicked out after the Simo-Safi conflict. ICly, I'd love to see the restriction lightened a bit to include names that convey POWER, might, and STRENGTH, not JUST fire/sun/heat. Otherwise we wind up with four Shulas and twelve Motos
  • Abolish the Huria practice - There were two 'not the right color' Firekin born under Kimeti's reign, but both were fairly pure-blooded Firekin. Neither one was actively told to leave by leadership. The colors are different, so why kick them out? Encourage them to take a traditional-coated mate! Encourage them, too, to be historians, medics, and hunters. They may not look the traditional image of a Firekin, but that doesn't mean they can't still be useful to the pride past having babies to send back!
  • Set up a solid alliance with the familiar species of the pride to fully utilize their presence - Birds would make perfect partners for soldiers, guards, and hunters, as would jackals; Snakes and ratels would be good to have for medics, doctors, and the like
  • Call back lions sent away for their coats or names, see if, if given the opportunity, they would want to return to the pride. They could only bring mates if they're the appropriate color, though. Nobody would be forced to come back.
  • Speaking of mates and breeding! First, encourage actual mating instead of rampant flings(Looking at YOU, Bodaway), so we don't wind up with EVERY bloodline crossed together - It's PART of how 2/3 of the pride have wound up related. Second, implement a TEMPORARY approval of rogue breeding! Even with new blood, inbreeding is a very real risk and problem because, again, 2/3 of the pride is still related. Damn you, Bodaway! So for a window of 3 months, lionesses would be able to apply for a rogue breeding to bring in more diverse blood. There are restrictions, though! The partner MUST be a lion - Not a lion hybrid, but a LION. He must also be RED, BLACK, or WHITE(Which means NO random rogue breeding - He HAS to exist WITH an image). Acceptable pride colors! If he's from a pride, they MUST be accepting of rogue flings. Preferably, his lineage is easily traceable OOCly - The less relatives you can trace, the better! Of course if he's a god(In disguise), then that's a whole other ball game. If there are throwbacks, they would HAVE to be restricted to acceptable colors, or not used at all if there are none. This would not happen, though, until matters of rank have been settled.
  • Which brings us to another point - SEERS. Since the rebellion, seers have been all but shunned by the pride, something a lion just doesn't TALK about. Which is mighty funny considering Kidondo and siblings are seers. Going back to the familiars point, why NOT utilize them? Not RELY on them, just use them in a way that helps the pride without being a crutch. Train seers born into the pride to hone their abilities, use past-seeing seers to try and more accurately record historic events that nobody's left to talk about; Use present-seeing seers(And some past-seeing) in case somebody gets lost or goes missing, so they can be found faster; Use the visions of future-seeing seers to weigh decisions. Since not all visions of the future WILL be the actual outcome, they're still useful when determining a battle tactic or movement of troops!
  • Encourage more lions to be HUNTERS! The pride is huge, and easily 3/4 of the pride are in the military branches of the ranks. Now, granted, a soldier can still hunt for themselves, but they're not going to be AS skilled at it as somebody who's trained from practically birth to hunt. So why risk a good soldier's health? More hunters to feed the army would be a good answer! Some would be posted at outposts, too - A small party of hunters and huntresses, posted with the guards to hunt for them, but also still skilled in fighting, so if something happens they can still defend.

Both IC and OOC
  • Drop the -Simo, it's Motoujamii! The pride is united again into one pride, why do we need to keep the Simo/Safi thing?

Please provide links to at least 5 RP samples: 1 (SRP), 2 (ORP), 3 (Pride Owner RP), 4 (Hongshan RP), 5 (Adorable Firekin RP).
Do you have any specific plans, or plot or event ideas for the Firekin? Please summarize:

To be 100% honest, my entry is motivated by support and not the desire to truly take over and run things. I openly admit I am not the best person to choose for keeping things active and interesting in the Firekin.. but I am good at two important things in lined prides: lists and meeting RP deadlines. My application is more an an offer of stability in that measure. And it never hurts to be directly associated with a colorist when lined prides are concerned, people like actual SoA as prizes for metaplots and (sadly) the easiest way to get them is to have a colorist already on the team.

Since my aim is actually in the background anyway, my plans are less direct. Wrapping up the Nergui/Firekin conflict so the pride isn't stuck in an endless war, encouraging plots/events to start in manageable and interesting chunks (a tournament would be an easy and fun little event to run in the Firekin, they already have a battle system) ..

Perhaps combining the desire for expansion (whether by conquest or alliance, depending on the whims of the regents) with the need for new blood (preferably while maintaining old color traditions). Conquest vs Alliance would make a big difference, breeding with allies is one thing but allowing the conquered to enter your gene pool.. Might be a point of interest (or conflict!) for the new regents.

Do you currently own or co-own any unlined prides/packs? If so, please list them: Mimi'naona, Elimisha'sombea, Intaba'umbikezeli

Please provide links to at least 5 RP samples: x, x, x. x, x
Do you have any specific plans, or plot or event ideas for the Firekin? Please summarize: Not anything too in-depth. I think the thing I would focus on the most would be bringing in some new blood to the pride. Speaking as someone who had an impossible task of finding someone not related to my SoA (he has both Sinbad and Bodaway for grandpas) I feel like having new blood come into the pride is one thing that is necessary to keep the pride alive.

Do you have any specific plans, or plot or event ideas for the Firekin? Please summarize:
I'm more of an admin than a pride-plot creator. I enjoy checking things like breeding and joining threads and doing those little day to day things.
Having said that, I do have a few ideas for increasing pride activity.

Rogue breeding: Open breeding up to passing rogues (This would be male rogues courting female pride members mostly) but the colour restriction would remain, and any pride member breeding with a restricted-colour rogue would be punished, either ICly or OOCly. -Would be discussed by pride owners. Unknown-male breedings for females would still have to be restricted due to the alck of control over the npc partner. But I think actual-rogue breedings would go a long way to relieving the inbreeding issue.

Colours: Keep the same red/white/black restriction with all colour variations. Pale yellow, greys, oranges and deep red-browns (such as the second give-away-regent) would all be allowed.

Events: Regular contests for restricted ranks - related to the rank type.

Admin: Make threads for Breeding and Joining approvals. Also adopt the pridelands memberlist model of each player being responsible of their own member post in a thread. Only Restricted Ranks would need to be formally submitted to a 'master list' which would be monitored by pride owners. 6-month check-ups on the restricted rank holders via an RP being provided. Breedings approved only if the pride member is on the owner-controlled member list.

Nergui: Honestly, this would need to be discussed. But an eventual conclusion of the Nergui being pushed back or withdrawing on their own would be most likely. Though fulfilling the original intention of the two prides in a large meta would be amazing.

Other plots: The pride originally met with the Kitwana, and currently have an outpost in the Bonelands. Some consistent multi-pride plots would be good but would need to be discussed.

Do you currently own or co-own any unlined prides/packs? If so, please list them: Aegnor'hini [Unique edits], Coileani Draiochta
If you own or co-own any prides/packs (or have in the past) and have run events, please link to them: Unfortunately, due to RL at the time and a lack of interest with the latter, both events did not get to be seen through to fruition. The Simbafutaji event and the Aikanaro/Peponi cross-pride event.
Please provide links to at least 5 RP samples: [x] [x] [x] [x] [x] [x] [x] [x]
[I can also provide samples of ItNotM and off-Gaia RPs as well!]
Do you have any specific plans, or plot or event ideas for the Firekin? Please summarize: I've a few things! I would love to flesh things out more with the staff and my fellow co-owner if I'm chosen as well!
  • I would love to open up rogue breeding somehow. Not 'father is unknown' rogue breeding, but 'father is not part of the pride' rogue breeding. There is still a large chunk of the pride that is too closely related, and opening rogue breeding to even just the Sentinels would greatly help to relieve that burden. Of course, males chosen would still have to be of the proper colors [and ICly, looking for all the ideals you'd look for in a Firekin would be encouraged], and there would likely be some stigma culturally for the resulting cubs and the mother. And if a male rogue bred, the cubs would of course not be on the lines.
  • I really do want to wrap up the whole thing with the Nergui, even temporarily. The pride has been entrenched in that plot for so long that it's grown stale, which I have a feeling Mims and Kima didn't intend. The pride needs some breathing room, some time to recover and develop. Perhaps there will be war again in the future. But first, some peacetime is needed.
  • Alliances! The pride already has an alliance with the Ithambo, but that's not the only pride out there! I would love to explore the alliance vs conquer dilemma, because the Firekin could tip either way...though alliances would OOCly provide quite a bit more RP opportunity~.
  • I would love to open up the sort of blues you see in flames to Firekin. I understand it's not a likely thing to happen, but it would be an interesting plot arc if it did! Especially with some of the long-running cultural repercussions!
  • Personally, I would LOVE to do something with the Aegnor'hini and the Firekin. It's something I've wanted to do for years now, since the Aegnor were the Aikanaro and run by Azure Desiderium and Manda and SkieBorne. The specifics would be ironed out with the other co-owner, and possibly staff depending on what we come up with, but it would be very interesting!

One, two, three, four and five.
Do you have any specific plans, or plot or event ideas for the Firekin? Please summarize:

Pride name: After such a long time since the Firekin civil war, it is time for the pride to drop the name 'Simo' and once again reunite under the name 'Motoujamii', symbolising the end of the divide between brethren and the acceptance of the pride they have now become.

Pelt colours: Red/White/Black extended to include orange/yellow lions as well as those with a sandy coloured pelt. Rules established for other colours and markings still apply. Any lions who did not previously meet the criteria (but would upon these changes) may return to the lands and regain their membership without a duel.

Joining requests: These were originally PM'd to the mule account due to many 'borderline' rogues being put forward as members. This allowed owners to discuss these cases privately. However, to make the service slightly more streamlined, a thread for joining requests in the guild would be set up with the additional option of PMing the mule where RPers may be unsure whether their character meets the criteria or not. In these cases the RPer can post in the joining thread: "PM sent to the mule" so that all owners can see there is a mail to view and discuss without having to log into the account.

Breedings: Despite allowing rogue members to join the pride to bring in new blood, experiences have shown that this still isn't enough to get a bigger variety of bloodlines in. In an effort to help make this easier for players as well as keep the Firekin true to their nature a compromise I have thought of would be this:

The breeding rules would 'loosen' during certain IC events. For example: a large troop of Firekin are sent out into rogue lands to make alliances/scout Nergui etc... during which, the characters taking part would be able to rogue breed with NPC lions or existing lions/lionesses from which the cubs who meet the Firekin standard would be able to return to the desert. These events would be advertised to give everyone the opportunity to make the most of it but be time restricted so that applications must be approved over a period of about 3 months. Lionesses becoming pregnant will have lined cubs who become automatic members whilst the cubs of a rogue lioness must travel to and join the pride as challenging rogues. It would be an aim to have this 'loosening or rules' once or twice a year.

The Member list: I am happy to continue to maintain and update the member list as I have done for many years, frequently checking the growth threads for new certs/uncerts to keep the list up-to-date, as well as keeping track of those who have not given cub information. Members are still required to post litter information and will not be permitted to have further characters breed if they fail to do so. Maintaining the list with the litter information given means that it is an (almost) accurate list.

Pride history archive: I'd love to get this up-to-date no matter what the outcome of ownership is. That way Firekin Historians have something to reference whether they belong to new or old players.

Plot ideas:
>>Initial: a leadership 'handover' RP where Kidondo (and No) officially step down and pass on leadership to the two new regents. This would be a large celebration ORP where every Firekin can get involved in the new chapter of their pride. This RP would end with the declaration that they are 'Motoujamii' and take on their original name.

>>New Pride: Another ORP for the new regents to speak to the pride about any changes they are going to make (once this has been decided OOCly by the new owners) This can also be where they announce the restructure and getting new people into the higher ranks.

>>Recruitment drive: a quick way to get some more activity back into the pride would be a temporary departure from the duel system and have a large border RP where duels are going on but not being rolled. This way rogues can have their duels 'off-screen' and become members from just having a complete RP of 5 posts within this event. This could perhaps be advertised widely by the Firekin themselves and held at the Bonelands outpost.

>>Nergui: Unknown to the Firekin, the Nergui are setting their sights a little further afield and leaving the fringes of the desert to head for a new location. Some guards/trackers bring word that they have heard the chanting of their leave. An expedition is organised to seek any information and the Firekin that travel out into the lands eventually come across the abandoned camp. Depending on who is regent at the time could greatly affect what happens here. Do the Firekin try and hunt them down or do they turn a blind eye and get on with other matters? In any case the Nergui are heading to the old abandoned territory of the Tuait'tekam and depending on how plot develops, may or may not return...(this also depends on how active I can get the Nergui. The problem with the Nergui being a small pride is that, ultimately, they stand no chance if the Firekin decide to rain fire down on their heads)

If pride owners want some further interaction with the Nergui, I am thinking that perhaps during one of the scouting events, a female Firekin could unwittingly breed with a Nergui scout and not realise it until she gives birth to cubs with markings that other Firekin might recognise - giving them insight into their location and opening up the possibilities for a final clash. This could also mean a litter to use in a contest with cubs that might be treated differently by Firekin members because of their heritage, causing strife and leading to other potential plots.

>>Expanding: Strengthen the alliance with the bonelands and seek out other potential alliances to whom they can have more ambassadors. Depending on which prides they seek to make ties with could bring either great benefit or end up creating uneasy links that bring turmoil/trouble.

It feels as if the Firekin, now bolstered in numbers and strong, are ready to make their presence felt more widely. This will allow members to roam more freely than they have before and means that the hunting grounds are expanded as the pride continues to grow.

>>Ranks: Aside from recruiting to the high ranks and replacing those lions now inactive, it would be quite good to expand the idea of the teams that was touched on but never fully developed. Recruiting some more captains who can promote their own corporals and invite non-military ranks that might prove useful out scouting the lands (such as trackers/medics)
