Profile
Name: Carson MacLeod
Nickname: "Mac" and "Freckles," left over from his time in the military.
Age: 25
Birthday: April 29th, 1990
Sign: Taurus
Gemstone: Diamond
Blood Type: A-
Fav. Food: Diner food like french fries, burgers, and milkshakes.
Hated Food: Super-fancy hors d'oeuvres. If it's being offered by a waiter and comes served with its own toothpick and/or cocktail napkin, Carson really wants nothing to do with it.
Occupation: Carson is hot off a six-year contract with the US Army, specializing in ordnance disposal. Having spent the better part of the last year recovering from a major line-of-duty accident that left him with a purple heart medal and an honorable discharge, he's trying to get back into the swing of things by starting a Bachelor's of Criminal Justice at DCU, while simultaneously working as a groundskeeper for the school.
Hobbies:Guitar: Carson plays acoustic guitar, and has since he was a teenager. He relaxes by teaching himself new songs (he likes soulful indie covers of pop songs and putting things into minor key that aren't meant to be there), and can be persuaded to bring the guitar out at parties and small gatherings, although he's never the first person to bring it up. He's a decent singer, if kind of husky sounding, mostly because when you can play guitar, people expect you to be able to sing as well.
Comic Books: Carson's home life growing up can best be described as "difficult." As a teenager, superhero comics were his preferred mode of escapism. While he was in the military, he always requested his care packages include the latest volumes of his favorite titles, and he still maintains a pull list at the local comic shop.
Shooting: Carson goes to the range regularly to make sure his form is still good, and there's something kind of zen about firing bullets into a target. He is knowledgable about different kinds of guns and their care and use, and he is adamant about gun safety. He does not currently own a firearm, but instead rents one each time he goes to the range.
Virtues: Protective: Carson makes it his business to look out for others. He checks up on his family and friends constantly, potentially to the point of being overbearing, and is always quick to offer assistance where he can. He abhors bullies and misuses of power, going as far as to jump to the aid of complete strangers if a situation seems unbalanced. For those that he's close with, he's loyal as a puppy dog - and he'd gladly go to war to keep them safe.
Casual: Carson is a man of simple needs who has an easy time of changing plans on the fly and works well under pressure. He's also not terribly concerned with pomp and circumstance, and cares much more about getting things done efficiently than going through all the proper channels, which he is usually able to spin as being "a proactive self-starter." He gets along with most people regardless of circumstance, and pays little attention to social hierarchies. Carson judges everyone based on personal merit and and not rank or social standing.
Stalwart: Carson is an expert at dusting himself off and picking himself back up. He knows hardship (having recently had every major bone in his right leg broken), but he also believes that life will only walk all over you if you let it, and that after every fall, you have to stand back up. He is aggressively optimistic and believes he is capable of anything he sets his mind to.
Flaws: Impetuous: When presented with options, Carson seldom takes very long to make up his mind, and while this makes him an excellent dining partner, it does mean that he often rushes into situations that he hasn't fully thought out. "It seemed like a good idea at the time" is frequently the only justification that he needs for doing something, even if it turns out terribly later. He pays very little heed to his own personal safety if he thinks doing something will mean accomplishing a task faster or otherwise produce a desired outcome.
Closed-off: Carson has never been the kind of person to wear his emotions on his sleeve. He seldom speaks about his own past and is slow to share his feelings with others, and he stubbornly believes that he can work through major issues on his own, even when seeking help is not only advisable but probably essential. He would rather allow a problem to turn into a crisis while he tries to sort it out alone than involve other people any sooner than absolutely necessary.
Pugnacious: Carson has a quick temper, and while he tries to keep it clamped down, sometimes you've just got to argue with people, and sometimes, when you argue with people, you just really want to come to blows with them. He is quick to anger and sees nothing wrong with using violence - or the threat of violence - as a negotiation technique, at least if it's a fair fight. He recognizes that this behavior is going to get him in trouble someday and
never punches down, but if you're a big guy, then Carson's got very few qualms about his fist finding your face. Anyone else, well, he can scream and shout with the best of 'em.
