Most of the people in Virgo's rolodex were not returning his calls. Triumphalis wasn't sure he was surprised by this - she'd said that a lot of the court was dead, and a fair chunk of it had gotten the hell out of dodge. Celsus had been incredibly nice, so that was encouraging, and he'd given Triumphalis another lead - Conchordia. And that had turned into playing phone tag for the better part of two weeks, but hey, he'd finally gotten some kind of concrete plan nailed down. Virgo had been kind enough to give him another half-dozen cupcakes. If Triumphalis's sparkling personality didn't make the rest of the Zodiac like him, then by god, he was going to win them over with food. It was about 9 pm. The weather was cold but clear, and Triumphalis could see his breath. He looked up and down the street, and then down at the cupcakes: Chocolate, with mint icing, and Elke had been smiling to herself the whole time she was baking. He was pretty sure there was a joke somewhere that he'd missed. He felt a page on his peripheral sixth-sense. Triumphalis looked up again, scanning the horizon for the source of the signature. Menthe did not receive very many calls from numbers she didn't know. She had, in fact, actually paid extra money to totally unlist her number due to the number of time's she'd been talked into stupid stuff she didn't want by telemarketers that she just didn't have the backbone to say no to or argue with. But one thing was for sure, when she did receive a call, even an unknown one, she was most certainly going to be polite enough to return it.
It was mostly because of work that they'd had to play tag and that things had taken so long to finally form, and maybe just the teeniest tiniest hint of nervousness. But with the recomandation from Celsus and the effort Triumphalis had exerted she couldn't dare turn him down and that was why she was out on this evening, using her usually careful and overly cautious creep to make her way to the meeting area.
She felt him before she saw him. Smelled the soft hint of sweet mint in the cool night air well before she could make out the fact that he was the source of it. But when she was finally close enough she paused, fidgeting gently with her hood, her eyes quickly going between looking at him and diverting downwards nervously. "Good evening."
"I'm very very sorry. I didn't realize that it was customary to bring gifts or I would have brought something along." Her voice was nearly as tiny as the petite woman buried beneath the elaborate uniform.
Unless... maybe it wasn't even a gift? What if that had been terribly presumptuious and it was really just.. groceries or something for after their patrol was over? What if she'd just made it so terribly awkward for him and he was going to feel obligated to share even if they weren't for her!? Oh Menthe...
Standing there, like a deer in the headlights, she did what she did best - perpetually worry as she waited for him to say something.

"Oh, uh," Carson stammered for a moment, looking between the cupcakes in his hands and the girl who'd just arrived. "I didn't mean for this to turn all reciprocal. And they're not - they're not really from me." God, he hadn't meant to embarrass her - that was a great first impression. Anyway, he was going to try that again. "Conchordia, I presume?" he asked the other Chronos page. "I'm Triumphalis." He held the cupcakes out to her. "Soldier Virgo sends her regards," he said. "She's the baking wizard - I just stir things."

One thing that anyone who spent more than a few passing moments with Menthe would learn was that 'embarrassed' was a near constant state for her. And not necessarily something they caused.
She was thankful for the thin veil that atleast partially obscured the sight of her biting her own lip guiltily as he soft of.. apologized for something that wasn't his fault in the first place. Clearly she had made things awkward.
However her shoulders lifted subtly as he pushed through it and introduced himself, reaching forward to dutifully take the gift offered to her. "Yes, that's me. It's a pleasure to meet you Triumphalis." It was a bit of a long name, but she couldn't help but like how close it was with triumph. It made her feel safer somehow, as if he could handle his own and triumph over anything that tried to get them. Even though deep down she knew it was terribly silly to think that just because of a name.
Up close the smell of the cupcakes was even greater and it actually soothed her nerves even moreso, food - especially gourmet and fancy things, one of her greatest pleasures. "Please thank her for me."
Cupcakes held carefully across both arms she piped up curiously. "Are you good friends with Solider Virgo then..?" Hopefully that was prying. Small talk was most certainly not one of her skills.

Triumphalis smiled as she took the box - Conchordia's appreciation was good news to take back to Virgo, who was always worried that her team held her absence against her. Plying them with food was the least she could do, she'd told him. "Friends." Triumphalis laughed. "That's one way to describe us, I suppose." They'd agreed to be upfront about their relationship with other members of the court. "We're dating," he said. "Since about January." He wondered if this was going to turn into questions about Virgo's general wellbeing - and made a move to change the subject, asking, "So you were part of the group that awoke on the Surrounding? About four years back?"

She seemed uncertain when he began to laugh, but once the explaination sounded she nodded in soft realization. "Oh I see. That's very nice for you guys." She commented matter of factly. It was something she saw often enough - even if it was pretty heavily frowned upon in the workplace. When you worked with and around someone long enough it wasn't that surprising you'd have connections. People within the team hooking up only made sense.
Relationships were as far from her wheel house of information as rocket science, so Conchordia was thankful when the subject was changed. Even if the subject that was offered was a bit of a tricky one.
Had it been that long already? It hadn't seemed nearly that long. And to think that she's accomplished so little in all that time. It was a thought for another time though, specially trying not to be a debbie downer after their first hiccup.
"Yeah, I was one of the ones in the Surrounding. I got to meet quite a few of our teammates there, both before and after awakening." Meeting might have been a strong word considering her shyness. While she'd seen and said a few words to a few of the zodiac senshi she'd kept more towards her fellow 'humans'.
"I didn't awaken myself until the large battle at the end, right before we finally got to come home."
"But you aren't from there I guess... You are a newer knight?" Her expression was suddenly curious, lips pursing in thought. "I didn't really know that that could happen for our type of knight?" How many more were there? And why..? Was the universe sending more knights to make up for the.. failed first attempt?
Triumphalis did seem an upgrade over herself she thought. Better suited to a fight against Chaos.

Triumphalis nodded. He was doing his best to piece the events of the Surrounding together, but understood how difficult it was to talk about what was obviously a traumatic event. He'd given up on trying to tease information out of Elke entirely - too painful. Too raw. "I'm newer, yeah," he confirmed. "Awoke in about... I guess it must've been August." It was a blur, honestly. "Bifrost and Pharos were there. I mighta beat a guy up." Did beat a guy up. "All in a day's work," he said, shrugging his broad shoulders. Triumphalis was a big guy. He looked like a brawler. He felt at home fighting. "Everyone I've talked to's seemed a bit incredulous, yeah, they thought we were a one and done deal." He laughed. "I guess that makes me an oops baby."
