Personality: Firestorm is energetic and haughty - Balrog's blood runs very strongly through the veins of this alicorn. He grows up listening to Balrog's talk of superiority of their race and blood, and the coddling of Stormwild who is taking her place forcefully as surrogate mother when Anemone made the decision to not stay with the herd. Firestorm's name is fitting as his temper can be rather easy to kindle. Firestorm has a slighter build than Balrog, but every bit of his fire. He is enthusiastic and sharp and cocky.
Since reaching young adulthood, Firestorm has grown up feeling entitled and superior. He is the golden child of the herd and he knows it. But, he feels restless and bored. He has every bit of Balrog's fire, but not enough outlet for it. He has grown flippant and more cocky with age - seeing the herd itself as stagnant and complacent. He years for excitement and to prove himself to the world, to exert this power over others and seek an outlet for his energy. He has become an overconfident thrillseeker.
History: Windstorm is the son of Balrog and Anemone's tryst. Balrog had been frustrated and angry, feeling emasculated in his herd for accepting non-winged members - be they children of existing members, or adoptive children. He then met Anemone - who was a lovely alicorn with similar opinions as he. They expressed their anger, and then, decided that were they to have offspring, that they would be powerful winged soquili of proud lineages. Balrog did feel a measure of guilt for cheating on Stormwild, and matters were complicated when Balrog brought Anemone to the herd foaling grounds to have her foals, including Tempest. However, because of Balrog and Stormwild's clashing, Sequoyah left the herdgrounds along wih the rest of the non-winged soquili - giving Balrog what he had wanted, although it was a steep price for Stormwild.

History: Santeria is the foal of Obeah and Mittrei. Obeah sought out a suitable mare to bear his foals in order to bring back to his sister, Cihuacoatl, in their "Kingdom" in the swamps. Obeah is obsessed with his sister, and her visions of a kingdom. While he knows that he cannot give her a foal himself, he seeks to build their empire, beginning with a foal that they can raise together like parents.

Personality: Despite the fact that Grimoire is fully fluttercorn like her mother, her full kalona father has had an influence on her (even if it is not visable). Even though her mother, arcana, was raised amongst souqili with darker natures, her benign and sweet fluttercorn nature was never exactly suppressed. Grimoire, on the other hand, has a personality that is much more suited to her herd. While she is fully capable of acting sweet and contrite as her appearance would suggest to an unknowing soquili, something's rotten inside. When others' backs are turned, she can be quite cruel for no other reason than because she enjoys it. She enjoys the game of deception and betrayal; luring others into a false sense of security.
Going hand in hand with her personality, and thanks to her mixed heritage, Grimoire has a little bit of the size-changing ability of a flutter, but altered. Her father, Dyson, is a massive, draft-horse-sized kalona, and she has those genes. That is her normal "Big" size (standing around 18.5 hands high). However, she usually masquerades in her "small" size - which is only about 12 hands high, slender and dainty. She can't assume a 'tiny' flutter form.
History: Grimoire is the foal of Arcana and Dyson Graves. Arcana has long since been the "black" sheep in her family group led by Anju. None in her family knew that she was really switched as a basket with Anju's real son, who was raised by Arcana's parents Kamiki & Azure and named Sumi-e. Arcana always stuck out - being far daintier and friendly of nature than the twisted soquili Anju and his real son, Taraxippus. She tried her best to be like he wanted her to be, but always fell short. When Taraxippus AND her adopted sister, Megaera both had foals of their own, and even more respect from their father - and the final blow - one of Megaera's daughters (Psyche) Anju even called an "improved Arcana" - she fled the herd in tears - and into the massive Kalona, Dyson. She poured her heart out to the manipulative Kalona, who convinced her that a way to earn her father's respect would be to have baskets of her own, and what better than by someone like him. Dyson didn't think that a kalona of such pure blood as he could even conceive with a fluttercorn like Arcana - and just saw Arcana as an opportunity for a good time. He never knew that she would wind up getting exactly what she asked for - in the form of Grimoire and her two siblings.

Personality: Odyssey is inquisitive and brave by nature, with a healthy dose of wanderlust from her real father. She wants to lead great adventures, see the world and all it has to offer. The more thrilling the circumstance, the more Oddysey wants to meet it face on. She is personable, and likes meeting other soquili, but rarely stays in one place long enough to really get to know them. She goes where the wind takes her, and if someone needs something done, she views it as serendipitous and will offer a hoof or a horn as the situation calls.
History: Idea: while the foal of Ulysses & Anachel, this basket was stolen from Anachel by her brother, who has resented her since their birth, where she got the alicorn traits, and he got nothing. However, Oddysey's wanderlust served her well, and feeling uncomfortable and trapped by this "father" figure, she soon set off on her own to see the world.

Familiar: A Wolpertinger named Craft - Arcana sees her as a strange misfit like her, and the two kind of bonded over it.
Personality: Arcana, despite her fine breeding from two noble soquili, has been raised by Anju alongside Taraxippus. Her emergence was met with much confusion by her "father", however, Anju has attempted to raise her as his own, often with much disappointment as she just doesn't seem to have that darkness in her. Harassed by her brother, a disappointment to her father, Arcana grew up very confused and backwards. She thinks that it's expected of her to be terrifying, something that she just really can't get right.
Arcana either doesn't know how to or is not able to change sizes. She is a petite, slender mare that stands around 13 hands high.
History: Arcana is in actuality the offspring of Kamiki and Azure. Anju stole two of Amaterasu's baskets shortly after she gave birth to his children, but in doing so, one of them was badly damaged. Before the colors had even set into the baskets, he stole into the shaman Ahawi's teepee and transferred the foal into one of her empty baskets. Before he could finish, she returned for something and Anju hid outside. What Anju didn't know was that she was in the process of assisting Kamiki with her foaling and had moved the first two into the teepee before knocking over a stack of baskets in her rush. When Anju came back in to reclaim his basket, he grabbed the wrong one. He didn't know there were other baskets with foals in the teepee and he took off with the first one he found that was full. Given the colors hadn't set in yet, he was none the wiser.
He is currently caring for this basket (or letting Sabin care for as the case may be) alongside his actual offspring in the other basket.

Mate: Arcana has mated with Dyson in a desperate attempt to garnish attention from her father. After two of her siblings, Taraxippus and Megaera became pregnant and garnished praise from her father (that they had already had more of than she), and her father even called one of Megaera's offspring was called "an improved version of Arcana" within earshot of her, she fled in tears... into the silver tongue of Dyson the Kalona. They are far from "mated", however.

Plot: So close yet so far away, Sumi-e residing in the herd at the base of the mountain where Arcana lives as a part of the Thunderbird herd. Little does she know that the soquili whose basket she was switched with - Anju's REAL child, is Sumi-e - both of whom were raised in herds they did not belong in, and that sparks a kinship.

Familiar: Mirage, a small, sweet-tempered, white rabbit
Personality: Dae'ruil is an elegant young stallion. He is noble, but quiet and reserved and painfully shy. He is curious, but has a difficult time overcoming his withdrawn introversion.
Dae'ruil appreciates the beauty in life, and has for most of his life been a quiet observer of nature, and an appreciator of finery.
He is quite soft spoken and nervous, but when he wears his mask, it lends him a bit of a sense of anonymity and security, giving him a bit more courage to act how he wishes he could be.

History: Most of his life has been spent among his own kind - dragonfly flutters, who are a very elusive breed and have had little contact with other flutters let alone the other types of soquili. As one of the fluttercorns, Dae'ruil is nobility among his kind - a young prince. He was raised in the lap of luxury and was doted on by other members of his kingdom. He was not the eldest, and despite the adoration lavished on him, he had little responsibilities or respect in the kingdom, always seen as the 'young prince'. His figuratively small voice in the kingdom - with advisors, parents, elder siblings making most of his decisions for him - led him to having a very difficult time speaking up for himself in a literal fashion. He is anxious, double-guessing himself before speaking. As a foal, he was given one companion, a small white rabbit, Mirage, who he entrusted completely. Much like him, the small animal was quiet, sweet, and became a trusted friend and security blanket for the young fluttercorn.
However, now that he has come of age, it was Dae'ruil who was chosen as ambassador to the larger kingdom and who attended a fateful masked ball. None but the consorts of the Queen could predict the terrible curse that was cast on all the partygoers. Like all the other attendees, his memory was temporarily washed away, leaving them bewildered and confused. While Dae'ruil was under the spell, his personality was drastically different. He did not feel this oppressive shyness or this anxiety that made it hard to speak his mind. He was charming, charismatic, and open. When the spell was broken, however, his memory returned and with it his personality. He remembered being confident, no longer feeling under the wing of his parents or siblings or worrying about the troubles in his kingdom. When he returned home, things felt different. Being out gave him perspective, and just how unappreciated he felt at home. His older siblings were competing for the eventual crown of his own kingdom, hoping that Dae'Ruil would remain passive and out of the contest. However, Dae'Ruil had kept the mask that he wore to the party, and despite the spell being broken, being able to wear the mask gave Dae'ruil a sense of confidence, like taking on a more courageous persona. But when he tried to stand up to his siblings for being oppressive, he was laughed at. The sense of confidence wasn't perfect. However, he no longer felt welcome, and he felt restless. One night, he decided to let his siblings fight it out - he wouldn't be missed, so he slipped out and off to see other beauties in the world, taking his mask with him. Maybe a journey can teach him to be more brave, and open his eyes to the world around him.

Familiar: Haytham, a trained hawk. Before Durriyah, Haytham was Kasim's only reliable partner - an expertly trained hawk that could serve as a spy, thief, or any number of valuable tasks.

Personality: Before he met Durriyah, Kasim was a bitter, suspicious and downtrodden young stallion. In his short years, he had had a hard life, having to fight and scrabble for everything that he had. Used to not having any kind of permanency - good things were short lived and shouldn't have been expected to last. Because of it, though, Kasim is resourceful, quick-witted, and adjustable. He does not trust others readily at all. His mixed heritage has made him an outsider to everyone - respectable people and soquili and disreputable alike.

He generally will assume that others won't like him when he meets them, so he's defensive and rather abraisive, keeping his guard up.

Kasim is not proud, and not honorable - seeing honor as a luxury that he cannot afford. He will do what he needs to do to make it to the next day. He is somewhat self-depreaciting it, but certainly not to the point of not wanting to be alive. He sees life as unfair, a struggle, and the deck has been stacked against him from birth. He sees his survival as a defiance to the fates that cast him such an ill lot.

History: Kasim's mother was a rare karkadann (Arabian Unicorn) and was the prize of the Sheikh of a group of Bedouin Nomads. She was more than just a pampered prize, but fierce and strong-willed in her own right. Not that Kasim ever knew his mother. Perhaps she was too strong willed, or perhaps she merely drew the unwanted attention of a shayatin, true demon of the deserts... Regardless, the sheikh was furious when he discovered that his prized mare was pregnant, and even more horrified when he saw the demonspawn that she bore. The sheikh would not abide by such a deceitful creature staying with his tribe, for surely he would lead to misfortune.
Before he was even blessed with a name from his mother, he was abandoned and left to his own devices.
Things were never easy for the colt. Most humans and soquili alike would not tolerate his presence for long, and certainly didn't trust him, and Kasim never felt that he could trust others. He took on a name for himself - Kasim, meaning divided. On the surface, a reference to his mixed heritage that he felt always kept him excluded. Among thieves and desert raiders the unicorn blood was a birthmark of nobility. And the obvious demonic wings would make any kind of normal life in the cities impossible. Beyond that, Kasim himself feels divided as well. He shuns others because they do or will shun him, but he is certainly not without feelings of lonliness or the desire for acceptance.

As he grew, he became more independent. He would occasionally work with other bandits or thieves, but he never formed lasting connections. He was used to being the target of scorn or fear or prejudice, frequently finding himself a target or scapegoat if things went wrong, and he has numerous scars to show for it. He has had to learn the hard way that even other brigands don't accept him as one of them.

He usually kept to the dunes, raiding caravans. But occasionally he would bundle down more in scarves and sashes and head into the cities for food or other necessities.

Kasim gave Nadirah Maa'ez to keep her out of trouble/ a watchful eye. Nadirah finds him cute, but is a little resentful of the "babysitter". Still, the goat is plucky and personable, and has grown on her like a weed.
Personality: Nadirah is a daddy's girl and loves to listen to the daring stories that her father tells. She is more than a little bit of a tomboy, hoping to be as dashing and courageous as the figures in the stories that her father tells her. His ideas for her are a bit more traditional - her name means "Rare or Precious" - and he views her as his precious gift, his only daughter of their three foals. Granted, such protective thoughts are exactly what drove Durriyah from her father and ignited her infatuation in Kasim himself. Kasim is nowhere near as sheltering of Nadirah as Durriyah's family is, but is still quick to worry about her or be protective of her when she interacts with other soquili. And Nadirah with her adventurous spirit sometimes gives Kasim plenty to worry about.
History: Nadirah is the daughter of Durriyah and Kasim. A forbidden love - the daughter of a powerful noble Unicorn and a disreputable son of a demon desert thief. However, when Kasim kidnapped Durriyah, intending on ransoming her, he fell for her. When Durriyah tried to prevent her father and his guards from killing him when she was returned, he presumed that she had been ruined already and damned them both. They fled, and their love blossomed like a rare desert flower...

Familiar: Pyromancy the Raven. This was given to her shortly after joining Anju's herd. Pyromancy like her kin practices the art of divination - her specialty is fire-seeing, hence the name she was granted when she showed an interest and aptitude.
Personality: Firestarter is a brash, easily riled filly. She has a hot temper, and one that is hard to quench. Furthermore, she is skilled at stirring others up. She will challenge, brag, and use her tongue as much as her hooves or horn. She brims with more confidence than her light frame suggests. She takes much more after her mother's side as far as her build goes - small and wiry with smoky wings. While she has none of Balrog's size or musculature, she has ever ounce of his (and Firestorm's) ego and self-importance.
She will use wits and dirty tricks if need be, the Kalona side of her reveling in seeing the aftermath of destruction that she brings. She has been told/believes that her father was outcast from a fertile herdgrounds because they were scared of her mother's bloodline. She has nothing but contempt for them, and hopes to one day show them just what they had to fear in the form of herself, her siblings, and anyone else who might join their cause. She is curious about relatives on her mother's side.
History: Firestarter is the foal of Shinoma and Firestorm. Firestorm left his herd to be with Shinoma, determined that Balrog and Stormwild and the rest had become weak in their inactivity and complacency. Firestorm was impressed with the freewheeling demoness, Shinoma - she made him feel more alive, daring, and dangerous. He told Balrog and Stormwild where to stick it, determined to prove himself superior through his good genetics with Shinoma, especially in light of Balrog and Stormwild's new arrival. When Firestorm expected to be missed and for his parents to come after him, instead they directed their attention on a new arrival, stealing his thunder.
Between Shinoma's incenting him and Balrog and Stormwild's indifference or outright conflict with him, Firestorm sees his offspring as potentially the begining of a new era... kicking off a conflict with his former herd. If he can't join them, beat them...
Firestarter's name is a nod to Firestorm seeing his children as the start of a veritable wildfire...

Personality: A demon of magma, Balor burns with the fires of the earth itself. A mane-like fire burns from a crack in the back of his neck, and the heat boiling as it travels down his legs, his rock-like hide melting as cooler plates shift around on the surface. His horn is solid, sharpened obsidian.
He often leaves singed and molten droplets and hoofprints as he walks.
He resides in the barren peaks of the mountains or the smoking pit of slumbering volcanos. Sometimes, he will take to wing to scour the land, able to glide on the updrafts created by his own heat.
He is a blight on the land with a fiery temper. He brims with ego, traveling on a whim. He keeps no possessions, priding himself in his independence and freedom since his escape from the underworld where other kalona and skinwalkers call home. He views any land beneath his hooves as his, inviting any challenge to his claim.
He believes he escaped the fiery pit thanks to his own cunning and resourcefulness, but in truth the one he called his master below believed he could cause more anguish on the surface than down below. He wants to avoid going back at all costs, hence the reason he doesn't like staying in one place very long.

History:Balor, as his name suggests, is truly a creature of Hell. He crawled from a rend in the earth like the magma that he embodies.
He comes from the same hellish place that true skinwalkers and pure kalona originate. He claims that his sire and dam were Fire and Earth itself, making him the representation of all of the natural fury and power of what happens when those elements meet. The truth is even Balor doesn't know his origins, only the memory-stealing ages of servitude that he had been shackled to in the depths of Hell.

Personality: There seems to be a chill in the air whenever this ghostly soquili is in the area. He has gravitated to the presence of other monstrous soquili, namely Anju's herd, though his relation to them and his intentions are not quite known. He tends to speak little, though when he does it is often with a chilling tone that sends shivers up spines, and yet while he is few of words, those he uses are well-placed. He can be quite persuasive when he decides to be. Despite his pristine white coat, there is something twisted and wrong about him.

Update: Malfeas is a plant in Anju's herd. They never questioned the motives of the insidious soquili - just another monster that seemingly found its place in the dark herd. But he is an operative for the ambitious herd/organization, Hydra.


History: Unknown. Malfeas has yet to speak of his past. He seems to live almost entirely in the moment, but there is an air of something truly malevolent and unsettling about this phantasmal soquili.

Psyche refers both as a word for the Soul (derived from Greek) as well as the mortal-turned goddess figure from Greek Mythology. The Greek character Psyche was often compared to a butterfly. The soul in many folk beliefs, can be represented by a butterfly OR as a floating blue flame.

Personality: Psyche is a rather odd mixture of soquili - inheriting Kalona blood from her mother, but is fully half flutter. She has some of the fiery aura of her mother, but instead of burning hot, it burns cold. Raised in Anju's herd, she isn't exactly the sweetest of soquili, but more so than many of her fellows. Generally soft-spoken, she has a rather unhealthy fascination with death and the macabre - finding things that many other soquili would find repulsive beautiful. Granted, Psyche is perfectly capable of finding the beauty in things that others can appreciate as well, but her ability to find the beauty in everything extends to an extreme degree. She is inquisitive, and sometimes will just stare at something for hours if it captures her fascination. The thing that intrigues her the most, however, is death and the concept of an afterlife or spirits.
History: Psyche is the daughter of Megaera and Azure. Megaera didn't exactly understand what was going on when she became pregnant with Psyche and her two siblings, and as soon as she found out, she was furious. She took her anger out on Azure, leaving him unable to have any more children. Two of the three baskets were given to one of Azure's friends and previous mates, the alicorn Kamiki, to raise with Azure in their larger herd since Megaera was not exactly an experienced mother. However, as soon as Psyche emerged from her basket, Megaera's instinctual motherhood awakened and everything seemed to make sense again. Psyche is aware of her two siblings, and they live close enough that she can visit them once in a while. She lives with her mother Megaera, near Sabin's teepee in Anju's herd. She fits in well with the others, despite being rather odd herself.

Personality: Dominia is a craven filly of false-bravado. She gets a lot more shyness and nervousness from her father than she would ever admit to - and constantly struggles with her own apprehensions and feelings of inferiority or weakness. She overcompensates for this, talking a big game, and acts arrogant or like a bully, but when push comes to shove, she balks. This is amplified by the fact that raised by her pure Kalona mother, Disnia, she knew she was being judged for worthiness. When put to a task, Dominia is creative, and will generally look for or try to come up with a work-around that doesn't involve a physical confrontation (when no one is looking). She would rather spend the time and set an elaborate trap than meet another soquili head on in a fight.
History: Dominia was born to Drusevere, a scheming Kalona with dark aspirations for her foals. Even though Dae'Ruil, their father, had been "rescued" from her clutches, her spell broken, she was left with three foals that she hopes will take his place as her minions.

She is fearless and daring, feeling at home in the heart of the storms, and will frequently seek them out, soaring with them. She calls herself kin to the storms themselves, and is truly happy when she revels along with their power, crackling with energy and feeling the thunder rumble in her chest.
Like a force of nature, she violently refuses to be tamed by anyone- man or other soquili, and the company of most other soquili bores her. She feels a wild yearning, a wanderlust, though its specific direction, even she cannot quite put her hooves on. But she travels, seeking that reason, coursing the wild winds of the storms.

History - Stormcloud, when asked about her parentage, will claim that her father is the storm itself - her mother a fearless wind struck by his lightning while daring to fly in a maelstrom. She was told by her mother that the lightning coursed through her - filling her with its power. And when she woke - alive but battered, she was with foal. Regardless, Stormcloud seems immune to the lightning, in fact, sometimes electricity ripples over her as if it were a thing alive.

Personality: Fianna's Irish ancestry comes in strong in both her nature and appearance. She also has a lot of her father's wanderlust and curiosity - and ironically leads her into much of the same predicament as he himself - curious to her parentage and the outside world.
In general, Fianna is genial; she has no idea how much of her missing father's personality she has inherited. She's not as serious as her mother, but loves her blessing of wings and the freedom it has allowed her. She was always quite the handful keeping in herd-grounds from the moment she learned to use them.
History: Fianna is the filly of Ethan and Hunter Brown. While Ethan was traveling on his great "quest" to find his own sire, he unwittingly propagated the same situation that he was trying to remedy in himself: a sireless foal. Personality: Rahne wears her heart on her proverbial sleeve. Grown up with two loving parents and sheltered in an understanding herd that celebrates and understands physical differences. She adores learning about the history and culture of her parents' herds - the Celtic traditions of her mother and grandfather, the herd alpha and elder, Ethan, and the stories that seem more like fairy tales about her father, Dae'Ruil's dragonfly-flutter kingdom. She integrates these stories to help her understand herself and her place - adoring the myths and stories about creatures with horns or partially made of wood. However, while she loves and appreciates the story, she doesn't recognize the possible impact behind her father's tales of being a fairy prince. That there is necessarily anything special about that compared to other fillies and colts - or that he's necessarily being absolutely literal.

Their mother was a stunning, radiant hippogriff mare - her body glimmered and shone in an opalescent, rainbow hue, with cascading feathery mane and tail. Their father was a creepy, ichory Kalona of corruption who sought out and took the radiant spectacle that was their mother. When she realized she was pregnant, their mother abandoned the baskets, ashamed of what had happened to her and not wanting to deal with the progeny of such a monster. They were found by the Hatetalon harpies and raised among the herd as one of their own.

Breeding Plots in General:
Banshee is a dedicated member of the Hatetalons. When she breeds, she will be setting out from the herd to find a suitable mate, and then return to the herd to have her children. Males will be cast out, females will be raised with the Hatetalons.
Herd tenants are that the stronger the mate and stronger the bloodline, the better it shows on the mare. And, thus, the stronger the offspring born into the herd. A strong stallion as a mate is considered a show of strength of the mare who dominated him.

She has a habit of talking to her scales and wings, trying to keep them in top shape. It is best to keep young ones away from her, or they may get hurt.
You think unikalonas are off balance, you haven't met the blend of a Kirin and a Kalona; Kirins tend to be even more kind-hearted and uneasy with violence and blood than their western counterparts.
History: Children, foals, babies, little ones, kids, they all ate at her mind. After loosing her first son, she snapped. But even before hand she was always mental, she longed to taste and crunch at her own child's flesh and bones. She has no clue where he is or even if he's still alive.
It's said you can hear her screams and mourning cry's at night, calling out wanting her child. So now she's left wandering searching for her child which she'll never see.

IxChel was the Mayan Jaguar Goddess of midwifery and medicine. However, she was also characterized as a seasoned woman-warrior. She was also known as the "Rainbow Woman" - the rainbow being a bridge between the land of the deities and mortals

Personality: Ixchel takes a lot after her mother. Unlike many soquili in the herd, Mixcatl took an active role in raising her daughter - along with help from Teumesia. Ixchel took to the woods and deeper forest like a duck to water. But while her mother focused on the shiny baubles and trinkets and other valuables, Ixchel found wonder in the plantlife around them - and the various properties of them -both medicinal and toxic. She uses the plants as the closest thing that the Anju herd has to a healer, but is also adept at the more sinister applications of the plants in their surroundings.

She is also familiar with the wildlife around their herd's territory, those that can lend to her practices, and followed her mother's tradition in claiming the skull of a fearsome predator - proving herself as a fearsome female warrior, to boot, in her mother's hoofsteps.

However, she has a soft spot for foals, and eagerly helps out the other soquili in the herd with childbirth and raising the foals - using her herbs to help the process as well as assisting in raising and protecting young foals.

She gets along very well with Barghest in particular, who was raised alongside her, and uses many of the herbs in his rituals and divination.

Ixchel also often brings the spicy peppers that Brigitte loves to her gravesite.


History; Ixchel is the daughter of Mixcatl and Einar. Mixcatl recognized Einarr as a warrior - respecting his trinkets and trappings whose presence spoke of the encounters he had had. She demanded a tribute, which led to a scuffle - both prideful warriors sparred - and in the thrill of a challenge - they recognized kindred spirits in each other... When baskets arrived, Mixcatl wasn't sure if she was prepared to give up her freedom, but found a kindred spirit in Teumesia who was having foals at the same time.
Einarr took one of the baskets back to his herd to present proudly to his family, to prove that he could select a fine mare for offspring.

Abraxas always knew that he was... different. His mixed angeni and Kalona heritage left him with a conflicted view of the world around him and never really knowing where he could fit in. Others didn't know what to expect from him, and were cautious and suspicious of him, not knowing if a charitable act was as altruistic as it might seem, or a trap thanks to his obvious Kalona blood.
This led Abraxas to become withdrawn as a foal, observing the world and forming his own cynical opinions. Ironcally, this served to reinforce the kalona blood that he DID have in their assumptions and avoidances. He developed a bit of a superiority complex - spending a lot of time in his own head and silently judging others. He has a generally negative outlook on the world around him. He's aloof, quiet, and rather arrogant.
Limited interactions as a foal led to a hard time forming connections as an adult, developing trust issues all his own. He doesn't see the point of friendship or other close ties with others. And why should he? They obviously don't trust him and are skittish, slow-witted creatures anyway. They aren't his match physically OR intellectually.
History: Abraxas is the foal of the good-hearted angenicorn, Io, and Diogenes - a rather brutish half-kalona. Both of the parents thought that they were playing the other one. Dio thinks he’s successfully corrupted this pure and innocent Angeni. Io is “letting” herself get played because she thinks she can use that to turn him to the light. And in the process they both kind of fall for each other’s schemes.
The creature that attached itself to the pale white basket shrieked, "creature of night, bear your teeth." hissing it as it echoed piece parts, murmuring absently, as if the hollow creature lost in the past. "

Familiar: Blu Rogers-Barnes, a small-but-fierce squirrel. He is full of fire when it comes to defending those he loves (especially his family) but has a hard time when it comes to looking after himself, subject to bouts of self-doubt and depression.
Personality: Becca is wholehearted and brave, and the apple of both her fathers' eyes. She is spunky, brave, sharp, and LOVES to talk. [Think: reporter meets lawyer] She and her sister were inseparable since before they were born, and Rikki - the troublemaker of the two - often got Becca in more trouble than she would have gotten into alone. Both are very good-hearted, too brave for their own good - but Rikki often assumed that rules didn't necessarily apply to her. So a "good cause" often lead the two fillies to get a bit in over their heads.
It doesn't help that Steve wasn't exactly sure how to deal with fillies, let alone two of them, and they figured out that when the tears came, he was quick to fold and placate them to make them happy.
Bucky grew up with sisters, and so often found himself the disiplinarian (but loves them more than he even knows how to express).
Becca is smart and brave, eager to help out someone in need, but will use her clever intellect before physical routes. She loves to argue and grandstand, and makes it a point of pride if she can change someone's mind or bring someone around. She also loves to figure out a person or a mystery - solving a case or a problem through investigation, conviction, and convincing.

History: When the winter season came along after Bucky and Steve were reunited, the spirits granted them a family. These twin girls shared a basket granted to them from the spirits, and Steve & Bucky just assumed they were being blessed with one child, and chose the name "Rebecca", after Bucky's sister for a filly - so when two popped out the surprised (and overjoyed) parents went with "Rikki" and "Becca".

Personality:Mabon sees himself as a veritable avatar of the autumn season. The herd he was raised in saw his arrival as a powerful portent and have honored him as such. Thus, he has never doubted his sense of self-importance. He leads his herd during the autumn months.

Mabon claims that his prolonged presence in an area can cause the leaves to change.

History:
Mabon was born to a flutter herd on the autumn solstice, and was named in its honor. His herd took his arrival as a portent of recognition and validation from the spirits themselves. The herd that Mabon was born to were a mercurial and very fey-like group of Soquili who move with the changing weather, passing leadership amongst them as the seasons change. It only stood to reason that during the autumn months, Mabon took charge of the herd.

It was actually his father that was the member of the herd, and the Autumn king before him, bearing the same turning-leaf wings that he possesses. He mated with a doe-eyed mare that they encountered during their roaming (a cerynei, though he did not know of their breed beyond the doe herself). Thus, it was a surprise to his whole heard when, upon reaching adolescence, Mabon grew proud antlers, strengthening the already obvious connection with autumn.

Like the other seasonal leaders of his herd, he has taken on a companion and familiar. His, a crow named Equinox.

She finds it fascinating how one thing can mean something to one soquili, but something else to another - and both of them are right and give the object more meaning in a broader context.

Personality: Devraj inherits a sense of pride and self worth nurtured by both of his parents. He is proud of his mother - a strong yet beautiful harpy from whom he got his sharp talons - and from his father - the son of the Angeni of Nobility himself - and bears the "divine" mark of four wings. His mother taught him the importance of beauty, elegance, entertainment and love. His father taught him noble bearing, and the importance of helping others who are in need as long as he had the breath in his lungs to do so... but that doesn't mean that Devraj can't do it in STYLE wink

History: Devraj was born to Sayerauho - a harpy with ancestry in the Flock, but whose mother struck out on her own. However, she carries with her some of the beliefs carried down from having come from a maternal line of flock harpies. Boys were not allowed to stay with her past the point of maturity. That being said, his father, Kunal, while only a half-blooded Angeni carried himself with all the pride and dignity of a full blooded one (if not more than a little on the prideful side than a true, pure, angeni). When he saw that one of his foals came out with the double-wing trait, this was only further "proof" to the stallion that the angelic blood was strong in his line, especially when he coupled with a nonwinged (and thus certainly worthy) mare. It also justified the nobility of his mother.
He and Sayerauho shared much of the foals' growing childhood sharing custody ((in Kunal's eyes - it was the ONLY honorable choice, and he would never do something dishonorable willingly. And Sayerauho - while she wished to follow the tenants set before her by her mother before her - was reluctant to just send her foals off to never be seen again, as these were her first.) So growing up, Devraj and his brother got a lot of time with both of his parents.
Both Sayerauho and Kunal each gave gifts to their foals as a parting gift/memory even when they split up at adulthood.

Personality: Even though she might not display it on the inside, Descent has some very deep-rooted ISSUES. Think of the type of serial killer whom, when described by his neighbors, was always a polite, quiet person. She doesn't go through personality changes so much as she is holding a lot of pathological problems inside. Her family has never gone with what was expected of them. Between her grandparents - An Angeni and a Kalona who both mated with ground soquili - and her parents, who found misfit comfort in each others arms, despite the fact that one came from an angelic line, the other something much more sinister. However, Descent was not even allowed the possible saving grace of being raised by loving parents. Her father's more strict Kalona family did not take kindly to her father turning his back on his Kalona heritage and took it out through the murder of her mother to prove a point to her father.
History: Descent is the daughter of an alicorn and a half Kalona. More specifically, her Grandmother was a uni-Angeni that bred with a normal soquili, and her mother, turned out to appear, for all purposes and an alicorn. Her father's parentage was a Kalona that bred with a normal soquili, and he was a half-kalona that just bore the wings as a sign of his demonic heritage. Therefore, Descent is truly caught midway between two extremes, removed by a generation.
