Shinoma wasn't naive; she knew exactly what relations between a male and a female could lead to. What she hadn't expected was the little tryst with Firestorm had gotten results. She supposed she should allow that it meant despite him being bird-brained and bird-looking he had strong genes..strong something anyway.
So here she was, exactly where her half-sane mother had been when she was about Shinoma's age, pregnant by a stallion that wasn't a Kalona. At least she had all her marbles, knew pretty much what she was doing. Izusa wouldn't see it that way, she knew for certain. And as for her father. What would he say? That was a second thorny bridge to be crossed. A bridge to be crossed on another day though. For now she had to find bird-brain and let him know. Which would be a damn interestin conversation she was of no doubt.
She swooped from the sky, landing as she always did, with precision, her smoky wings folding away as she walked towards the waterfall where she'd encountered him that day. She was showing little yet, but there was enough change within herself for her to know that she was definately expecting. How would he take it? She really was expecting nothing from him, she wasn't some lovestruck mare swooning at the thought of bringing her darling's spawn into the world..she was just hoping for strong, worthy children.
She looked down at the rushing water, as it fell away from beneath her hooves, down into the stream below. There would be no repeat of that little trick on this visit..she looked around, wondering if she was in the wrong place, scenting the air for a clue as to when he was last here.

Firestorm was not difficult to locate. Since his spat with Stormwild, he hadn't really gone back to the herdgrounds for very long. He didn't need them he thought adamantly to himself. They'd miss him. They'd realize that it just wasn't the same without him.
But the only time that they seemed to miss them was when, apparently, Stormwild had heard of danger in the land and gone looking for him. worried for him. As if he couldn't take care of himself. After all, he had a demoness on his side.
And now - humph - they had someone new that was the center of their damn attention. Which only served to make Firestorm more bitter and drove that wedge further between him and his father's herd.
So when he heard the soft hooffals not far from him that signified the 'mistbat' - he turned with a defiant smile. He trotted out from behind the falls in a small shelter that he had been mostly keeping to himself.
"Shinoma." He smiled, flicking the water from his leonine tail.
There was something... different about her. Her demeanor... and something else...

She whirled on the spot at his approach, all a bristle at his sneaking up on her, her tail tendrils lashing at the damp ground.
'Trying to get me to jump off again are you?' she hissed, feeling a might foolish for him making her jump so much, but she had been very much lost in her own thoughts. She inwardly upbraided herself, that would never happen again, and her guard was lowered a little, after all she did know him. Well.
'Birdbrain, that won't be happening again for a good while.' she flicked her tongue along her small, but needle sharp fangs and let out a noise.
'So is this where you hide when I tire of you?' she asked, mocking him slightly. She was still determined that their relationship would remain as it ever was, despite what had happened between them, and what the result had been.

Firestorm chuckled, inwardly pleased that he managed to give her a start - even if it was just a small one.
"I don't have to try too hard, Mistbat." He responded with the familiar nickname. "Jumpy today?" He trotted over to her, cocking his head and looking her over. She seemed to be particularly on edge today.
"And I am hardly hiding" he scoffed. "Maybe I've just been exploring. Keeping my eyes on you." He shook out his mane, still wet from his pass through the waterfall, making certain that a good amount of water hit the kalona mare.
"So, what is the occasion? Miss me?" He grinned.

'What for?' Shinoma replied, rolling back her upper lip as he shook himself in a dog-like fashion and caught her with some of the spray.
'Watch it you great twittering lump.' she said, tail flickering as though she were an agitated feline, her eyes narrowing for a moment. She shook herself and then spoke again.
'Do you think you own me now or something? Hearts and minds forever entwined because we acted on instincts?' her tone was faintly mocking, but even she would admit it had been fun. Pleasurable even. But now they were in this situation. And what would be his response? Proud and loving father? She supposed that was better than absolute indifference but if he had too much influence they might turn out like her half relatives, and then she would be exactly like her mother. Wasn't she that already? Spirits..
She forestalled any further chatter by simply saying several words. 'I'm with foal.'

Firestorm was about to insert another inane comment in response to her inquiry about owning her when her abrupt, blunt follow-up knocked it right from his head.
The smirk fell from his face, replaced instead with a look of absolute amazement.
"With foal?" He ruffled his wings, straightening up. He was going to be a father. HE was going to be a father.
The satisfaction, the concept that he had done it - he was going to be a father, start a family of his own - and he had been stallion enough to give foals to the dangerous demoness.
"That.... that's fantastic!" He exclaimed, stepping closer to inspect the bulge in her stomach.
"Foals! OUR foals!" His mind was spinning. This would show his vitality to his herd - his strength!

Shinoma shook her head, laughing softly. Damn him, but his enthusiasm was infectious, and that part that betrayed her blood, that part that had allowed her to get into this situation in the first place was pleased with his reaction.
Her wings and tail rustled slightly at his approach to her belly, to their growing foals within, but she settled, allowing him to come as close as he wished to examine her growing belly.
'Yes, our foals. You are the father.' she said firmly, dispelling any thoughts he might have of her being a wanton mare and covorting around with all kinds of stallions. For she had no idea of how much he was wanting to prove himself to his family...and would probably find it amusing if he did choose to share that with her.

He brushed his muzzle against Shinoma's slightly swollen stomach. He could virutally feel the life blossoming inside of her.
Firestorm's ego had not even permitted him to consider the idea that there would have been another father, but her unrequested confirmation served to only elevate his mood further.
"Haha!" He laughed in sheer delight and enthusiasm, taking a step back so that he could meet her eyes once again.
"A family! OUR family!" He gave his wings a flap for further emphasis. "They will be STRONG foals. Brave and masters of the sky! They will put Balrog and Stormwild and their new little mutant to shame!" HE should have been the pride of that herd. He WAS the pride of the herd, and now he was all but forgotten in exchange for that new colt that was probably not even theirs.

Balrog? Stormwind? A mutant? She eyed the stallion, who for lack of a better word right then was the closest thing she'd had to a mate and snorted.
'Who are they to you and what have they to do with our children?' she asked, before giving another snort.
'Of course they will be strong, I'm their mother.' she said, rustling her smoky wings with a distinctly smug expression on her face. She supposed that if she had to have sullied her blood line with a birdbrain, at least he wasn't as wet as her mother's lover had been.

Granted, Firestorm used the term more as a slur than insinuating that he was an actual mutant. Although Firestorm had never seen a soquili like the little creature before. His obvious look of distaste when he spoke of him, however, was smeared with jealousy.
"Balrog is my sire." Firestorm said simply. "He should not... I am his son..." He shook his head, not wanting to sound more whiny than he already did. "He should be more upset by my departure." He ended with a clipped tone.
Finally, shaking his head, he directed his attention more towards Shinoma. "With your strength added to mine... ours will be the finest foals in the land." He responded with much assurance. "They shall put Balrog's herd to shame."

Shinoma herself was not quite all Kalona, so bandying that word too much around her wasn't wise, but she listened without snapping as she could see he was passionate about something, full of anger and fire, and wasn't that unexpected and gratifying to her? She smiled, wondering what fun she could have with this situation, and made a quick decision, slipping to his side and speaking in a low, seductive voice.
'You are his son, and strong, very strong you are. You need not his approval..' her tail slithered up his foreleg and she pulled in close, whispering in his ear.
'Demand it, show him what you can create, teach him to see you as his equal..' she nipped his neck, softly, the way she could be when she wanted to. 'As his better..'

Firestorm gave a low whicker as Shinoma sidled closer to him. "You're right." He murmured, at first quietly, but then repeated, with more fire and vehemence. "You're right. He snorted with a stamp of his foot for emphasis.
"I will show him my strength. That I am not scared of a demoness." he glanced to Shinoma. "That I have the mettle to match her, the strength to produce fine foals with her. No horn rests on his temples. I am a stallion in my own right now. Maybe he's frightened of me. He knows I could be his better." Firestorm looked in the direction of the herdgrounds, the gears in his head turning...

'Of course I am..' Shinoma continued, her ears stiffening at his proclamation that he wasn't afraid of a 'demoness'..his words or his family's? Either way, if he wasn't the smallest bit afraid of her than she was being complacent - it wouldn't do for him to get too relaxed around her, take her for granted. But for now she held her tongue on that matter as she would have more fun winding him up and driving a wedge between him and his family.
'Yes, yes exactly that.' she said, her voice purrying almost as she continued to egg him on, like a devil on his shoulder.
'You should go now, tell them what you have accomplished..' she would go with him if he wished it, but if he did, she would have to warn him that if any of his family made even the slightest move that she considered to be aggressive, she would fight to the death..theirs for preference.

Firestorm's expression darkened more as he nodded, listening to that voice in his ear, his thoughts and heart racing ahead of the logical side of his mind.
HE almost spread his wings, almost went to tell Balrog what for - that the herdlands were HIS inheritance. That he was the strong son he had been waiting for - that in fact, he had more fire and courage than the elder himself.
But, he stayed his wings as second thoughts raced to catch up. "The lands are due to me. I WILL show him my strength... but what better way than with our children by our side - the evidence of our strength." He looked back to Shinoma with a wild, proud smile as he looked again at the swelling in her belly.

'Of course..whenever you wish it.' Shinoma replied, acting the dutiful mate for the moment, though she wanted to call him out, call him a coward who all mouth and no action. Then again if they descended upon this sire of his when their children were grown she could have the land for herself. Still, it was a little frustrating that she hadn't managed to goad all the way into action. But, there would be plenty of time together, lots of time for her to carry on being the devil on his shoulder.
'So..' she wanted to turn his thoughts back to her, looking at him and patting a wing against her belly.
'You'll be looking after me from now on, making sure I have the best of everything...if you want your children to be the strongest they can be of course.' she said in a pointed fashion.
