General Arsenopyrite (Points: 5 + 5 + 3 + 5 + 5 + 3 = 26 total) Exactly as he had predicted, there was a giant youma that had come out of the water. Of course there was. And it had let out a few ear-piercing screeches too. For a moment Arseno had to hold his hands to his ears, hoping that he wouldn't get any permanent hearing damage from the awful noise. He was glad that he had his weapon out with him already, but the rest of the agents in the group had already caught up so they were all able to attack it at this point. If there was a giant youma here, then it was most likely a guardian of the area. This must have been what the map was indicating. Well, probably not the serpent but if the gear were in the lake... He swung his pick at the serpent, getting what was probably too close to it, and hit it. Though he didn't believe it had much of an effect. Either way though, he had managed to hit it. The problem now was getting away if it decided to attack him. General ArsenopyriteArseno swung at the serpent again, and was once again hit by the serpent's power. For some reason though, it seemed to have no effect on him. But that didn't meant he was clear of any danger. The youma was thrashing around quite a bit, and Arseno could only dodge this time, unable to swing his pick. They would get through this though, it was only a matter of time. Corrupted Super Gadolinite { 18 pts }
He'd done his best to follow Jet's orders, because that was what he did; Jet was his superior, and his general, and Gadolinite was not about to argue with years worth of experience and knowledge. They'd somehow gotten stuck in this...whatever the hell it was, and now here he was, staring up at an enormous, milky eyed serpent, while Jet and Seraphinite's presences kept him focused.
Gadolinite gritted his teeth, fingers already curling in the air, pulling back an invisible bow that burst into life as nothing more than white light with a purple tinge, the scent of flowers reaching his nose.
"Poison Arrow," he hissed, and fired.
Quote: Gadolinite draws back a pretend bow (there is no actual weapon; just going through the motions) and "fires" off a bright strand of light directed at the opponent. When it makes contact, the opponent will feel a sensation of burning and discomfort. There is no physical change; it's merely an illusory feeling that lasts fifteen seconds and then fades. Two uses.

As the final blow struck the serpent, she began to writhe uncontrollably, making the pattern of her scales glimmer in the eerie light of the rift. The crystallized waters of the lake cracked and ruptured and for the first time, the full immensity of her size was visible to the group. The shriek continued as she convulsed, filling the air with a sad, sorrowful wail, until at last she curled in upon herself and burst into dust.
When the dust finally settled, something was visible at the bottom of the dried lake beneath all the crystal and grime: an old, water-stained chest.
Haumea stepped to the front of the group and then turned, looking at General Faustite. “I believe the honor of fetching the prize belongs to you. Bring the chest up here and open it would you?”
The chest comes open easily and, inside, there sits the crystalline gear they had been looking for, the tower's emblem glimmering in the dim rift light. After a moment spent admiring the thing, Haumea took the gear from the chest and passed it to the officer that had landed the killing blow to the serpent youma.
“Keep this safe. We're counting on you, my friend," he said, granting the officer a faint smile. "Now, everyone, find your way back to the tower, we’ll be right behind you.”

General Arsenopyrite
Arseno once again put his hands to his ears, trying to keep the sound out when the serpent showed that it had been defeated. And yet even in defeat it continued to scream and writhe, almost striking him once again. Eventually though, it stopped and the waters ruptured, eventually revealing a chest underneath it all.
He wondered who would be the one to go and open the chest, but it seemed Haumea had already made the decision for Faustite to go and retrieve whatever might be inside. Good. Someone was taking control of all of this. All they had to do now was go back to the tower, which Arseno was happy to do. It seemed to all happen so quickly and yet he was still so tired.
He started off himself, wanting to get out of here finally, though willing himself to stay so that he could see what would happen with the gears.

General Faustite
What whorled at their feet was a charnel house, casting about boot and heel and shoe and staining pant leg and caking into free-flowing hair. What remained after the rib-rattling lake fissure was no further adventure. The map proved right; at the bottom of this crystalline domain sat a peculiarly apt chest. It reminded Faustite, albeit vaguely, of Kholat Syakhl's most prized possession.
With one hand still anchored against fastenings, the general assented wordlessly to Haumea's gesture. Ey drifted, a lit lantern casting over a lake, until reaching the conglomeration of rotted wood and old brackets. Ey wedged a metal sole between the chest's fastenings and leveraged a general's strength until it popped free, no bending at the waist necessary. Inside sat exactly what they sought — exactly what Alkaid and Haumea bid of the Negaverse. Faustite looked on as Haumea admired it so, as Alkaid stood by in her unearthly calm, even as her eyes blazed in the Rift's eternal twilight.
Faustite received the sum burden of their efforts from a senshi as brilliantly colorful as the Rift was dark. Caught in Faustite's flicker-flame, Haumea looked unutterably human next to his companion. A strange pair they were, combing the Rift. Looking for dead secrets in the warm stench of history.
Now they each wore the dead. Dust billows gusted off of them by an empty breeze, carried off to regenerate in the coming hours. With the heavy crystalline weight tucked under arm, Faustite waited only long enough for his similarly dusty allies to catch up, for further they would go with a glimmering stake just under the crook of eir arm. "It's safer in the hands of something inhuman."
Flecks of hurt did not yet impede Faustite's gait. Turning, ey paced with purpose toward the winding, sinuous path to their rally point.
