General Jet chooses to group with the team in Block A.
”Don’t you dare,” Jet growled, shooting a glare at Seraphinite’s poor sense of humor. He didn’t want to see anyone being chomped on by youma.
He paused just as his brother did, because despite not being blood related, Jet had always considered Seraphinite his brother. It took just a moment to see where the Captain was looking, his expression strained.
This used to be a place where people lived and grew up, but thanks to the invasion of senshi, and the clash between them and Metallia, this was all that was left.
“River is fine with me,” he let out a breath. “I wouldn’t go near the bank though. Who knows how solid the ground is there,” he cautioned as he glanced to Gadolinite to see what he would decide.
“You don’t have to follow if you’d rather not. Might as well make your own decisions when you can,” Jet shrugged, and then turned to follow the path Seraphinite took.

Dravite chooses to group with the team in Block A.
Everything about this mission upon arriving in the rift had managed to make the Lieutenant feel uneasy. Almost as if his presence alone made him a liability to the group as a whole. Instinctively his hand pulled back to his hip where he normally kept his holster only to remember that while in this uniform it did not exist. No, all he had was a simple chain that, when under too much strain, easily snapped in half. Either way it is what he had to work with and so, without thinking much on it, he summoned his weapon to his hand just in case.
He had been on several deployments much like this, war torn cities crumbling in the aftermath of long drawn out battles. But here, in the Rift, Dravite was out of his element and even though he walked beside two Generals and a Sovereign their presence offered little comfort. At least when overseas he was equipped with gear meant to keep him and his soldiers safe as well as weapons, actual weapons.
While Leucite and Stibnite both marveled at the river Dravite remained quite while keeping his attention focused on the cottage roof tops, inside broken windows, along the edge of buildings and spaces in between.

Eternal Amphitrite chooses to group with the team in Block B.
Funny how when urged to silence, things seemed to grow so much more chaotic around them. Wasn't that typical human nature at work, though? Be quiet, and suddenly, everyone can only think of how much they want to say. Negaverse though they were, they were still human at the core. She was disappointed her sister wasn't with them - she could have sworn Poppy had seen her, so why - later. She could ask her after this mission was complete.
It was reflex to stiffen and half-snarl when she was grabbed - the gleam in her eyes not wild, but steel, prepared to face an enemy - only to realize it was Nissonite who'd done it. She exhaled sharply and pushed her instincts aside, although not so far down that she couldn't tap back into them at the drop of a hat. "You lost her? Here?" she hissed out in a low whisper, her eyes slightly widened. "Niss - "
But then another, younger corrupt was added to their ranks, and with Adamantine beckoning and proposing a formation as they went, the soldier in her fell into ranks with a nod. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Nissonite whispering into his crystal, and she could only hope that it wasn't too late for the kitten as she briefly turned her attention to the new corrupt, Alum. She flashed him a smile, deliberate in its warmth. "Good. We're counting on you, Alum - I'm Amphitrite, by the way."
Thankfully, they got confirmation from Nissonite that Reven was safe, and she breathed a sigh of relief. "Right. Let's try not to lose anyone else, okay?" she teased lowly, winking back at the captain before she gave the path at hand her full attention.

(Atheneite) chooses to group with the team in Block A.
He did appreciate Jet's determination to keep him from being used as potential youma fodder. Gadolinite gave his general a smile that turned into a lazy smirk at Seraphinite, one dark brow arched. "I vould think you are not strong enough to throw me as bait," he said airily. "Besides, there is more of you than me - " And here he lifted a hand, waving it vaguely in the direction of the other man's chest. "I am sure you vould be good for the eating."
The double entendre was deliberate, just because it made him amused, but Gadolinite's smile faded after a moment, glancing at the irate look on his general's face, one bare shoulder rising and falling as he fell into step beside Jet and Seraphinite. Now was not the time to make jokes (though with Seraphinite, it was hard not to).
"I do not know either of them," said Gadolinite, the shrug implicating a lack of knowledge rather than a dismissive gesture. "They are unfamiliar. And I do not know vhy they are the ones leading us. It does not feel as though ve are in a good enough position to understand vhat is happening. They do not tell us much, vich seems...dangerous. It is very disorganized."
Gadolinite lifted a hand, brushing aside a stray lock of dark hair from his face. "I am stuck vith you both, I do not mind," he said. "I vould rather be with people I know, and you are my general, Jet, so I am perfectly villing to follow your orders here. And besides - "
He gave a glance around at the people milling about, eyes slightly narrowed.
"I do not trust people I do not know."

General King Zinkenite
Zinkenite gave Lalande an amused look - and while he didn’t end up needing to answer thanks to General Stibnite he did anyhow. “I have no intention of letting anyone be eaten. We’re searching as a team after all. Unless one of you knows more about this area than I do, then I’d say we’re on equal footing.if the strength Metalia has granted me will help defend those of you searching with me, then be assured I will use it.”
It was perhaps excessively formal in phrasing, but he personally tended to find some formality more reassuring than either placations, or assuming people would follow. He was not shocked that those following him so far were a smaller group, the river looked as though it could be home to large and hungry youma and he couldn’t blame them for wanting safety in numbers.

[Prompt 2 - Answers]
Choice 1
The group searching Block A immediately comes to realize that getting into any of the houses will not be easy. Due to their proximity to the river, the crystals have overgrown large portions of the structures and sealed a majority of doors and windows completely shut. Although there are some houses that can be entered through crumbled walls, most of their interior has been crystallized and the search thus far yields no fruit.
+3 points
Choice 2
The group searching through Block B finds little to hinder their way into the houses. As they walk in and out of the homes freely, they are shown glimpses of the life lived in Portunus as well as obvious signs that it was ended with some kind of skirmish. Old furniture shows not only signs of decay, but also destruction and in some cases, the char of fire. Picture frames lay shattered and broken in the floor, the pictures within too browned with age to be of any use.
Obviously, someone had already been searching for something here long ago.

[Prompt 3a - Characters in Block A]
The search through Block A continues on much as it began, with everyone trying (and failing) to pry open doors or window shutters. Just as it seems as if they won’t be able to search any of these homes at all, they come upon what is, by far, the largest house in the entire block. There are a few windows that are only partially obstructed by a thin layer of crystal and if they can break through, they should be able to crawl inside to search.
[Choice 1]: Your character decides to break through the crystal on one of the windows. It causes a loud shattering noise as pieces of hard rock fall on the floor inside, but it opens up enough room that they can crawl up and enter the opening with little trouble.
If your character chooses to go inside through the window, please copy the text below and include it in your post.
(CHARACTER NAME) chooses to crawl through the window and search inside.
[Choice 2]: It’s immediately obvious that to get inside, your character will have to make noise. Being mindful of Haumea’s caution, they decide to wait outside instead. Not only does this ensure there will be no sneak attacks that leaves the group inside trapped, but it also means they can do a quick search outside too.
If your character chooses to stay outside and stand guard, please copy the text below and include it in your post.
(CHARACTER NAME) chooses to stand guard outside.

[Prompt 3b - Characters in Block B]
The search through Block B continues on much as it began, with group members entering the houses but finding no evidence that might point them toward the gear. Before long, the group happens upon the largest cottage in their side of the neighborhood. They can enter easily through the front door or head around back to explore what looks like a walled-in garden.
[Choice 1]: Your character decides to head inside and check out the house. It’s two stories tall and looks important, surely the home of someone that was once important in Portunus.
If your character decides to explore the house, please copy the text below and include it in your post:
(CHARACTER NAME) chooses to head inside and explore the house.
[Choice 2]: Instead of heading inside to explore another house, your character decides to try their luck with the garden out back. The wall isn’t very high, with most characters capable of seeing over it into the dried, forgotten garden beds. They can hop right over with ease.
If your character decides to explore the garden, please copy the text below and include it in your post:
(CHARACTER NAME) chooses to hop over the garden wall.

General Jet chooses to crawl through the window and search inside.
The group split, and Jet glanced around to account for those who decided to head towards the river. Although not the reason why Jet decided to head that way, it was easily noted that the General King among them chose to move towards Block A as well. Jet knew very little about the General Sovereign, but he had no doubt in his immense power, and part of him was pleased that Zinkenite, if his memory served him correctly, thought it beneficial to explore on the side of the river as well.
A corrupt senshi with bright red hair (Lalande) had paused to ask the General King if he would keep youma from eating them. He grit his teeth as he scowled, trying in vain to keep his increasing ire restrained.
“No one is getting eaten,” he growled, although his response was once more directed towards Gadolinite and Seraphinite instead of any of the other corrupted senshi. They didn’t know him, didn’t have any reason to trust him, and it wasn’t a secret that he loathed the senshi of the White Moon, so he didn’t offer them any direct reassurance. The presence of the General King should be enough.
Jet had never been the kind of person to hesitate. It happened on a rare occasion, but his mind was usually already made up before the choice even presented itself. Weighing the dangers versus their own power, the proximity to the other group if they needed backup, and the thought that the sooner they complete the mission, the sooner everyone would get out, hopefully safe and able to fight another day.
But this time he did hesitate.
“Sir,” he said deciding to pause, expression set with determination as he looked to the General King who was only about an inch shorter than himself. “I apologize if this causes you any inconvenience.”
Jet then turned to the closest house and lifted his bladed staff to smash open one of the windows. Another reason he decided to make the attempt to crawl into one of the houses was not only because he was smaller than some of the others, but because it would keep any of those with lower rank or corrupted senshi from feeling as though they would be the ones sent to check for youma lurking inside the structures. Instead, Jet had his weapon at the ready, using his cape to protect his hand as he pushed the rest of the crystalline glass out of the way, and pulled himself up and inside.
As of yet, the buildings hadn't yielded anything that could be considered 'interesting'. Not even a youma to go and dust. But Arseno didn't have much of a choice. He could either give up or he could keep looking. And he wanted to know about this place. As empty as it was, it still had to yield something... right?
For right now though, it continued to hide anything that may have been of value. Obviously someone had been here before, but it had been years. Of course their group wasn't the first ones to look around this place, but it did mean there was less of a chance for them to find anything interesting if someone else had already looked.
But even if he didn't find anything tangible, perhaps he would still find something that could tell him what had happened here. He sighed, finally getting to the largest building within the area. Arseno paused for a moment, wondering if he should check out the garden. There was a good chance that there were clues out there but... he wanted to check the house out first. The garden would still be there. The house was just more likely to contain something. And both were equally likely to contain a youma. So either way, perhaps he would run into something.
General Leucite chooses to crawl through the window and search inside. [+5, +3]
The corrupt had an interesting line of thought - but Stibnite and Zinkenite had already answered the query with aplomb, as had another general that he didn't recognize off hand - though he did recognize one of his compatriots - it was good to see that the young man had found a proper general to work with. He'd not mentored him nearly as well as he could have himself - and he would admit that, at least, he'd admit it to himself in silence.
"Not really in the mood for a swim - maybe later though," Leucite grinned back to Stibnite before they were able to locate a building they were able to get into.
As he watched another General squeeze through a window he nodded his head. The man had the right idea. He scouted around for another clear window on the same floor as the man, and with his spear, broke a hole in the crystal coating before moving into the building with a careful bend of his upper body and careful placement of his spear on the inside of the building to provide a handhold that wasn't jagged crystal.
"I'll check this room if you wouldn't mind keeping an eye outside?" He called back to his wife. "Rather not have something crawl in here after me."

Eternal Adamantine chooses to head inside and explore the house.
Adamantine continued to walk through, as their group came to a larger standing of a house, with it a more flair for the known prestige then its neighbors around it. It seemed foolish to not explore the most well kept together house, so Adamantine waved the group over.
"Silk and....." Her gaze fell to the smallest corrupt of the group before cocking her head, "this one, will come with me upstairs." She breathed out before taking the kitten off her shoulder and placing him on the ground.
"Keep low Silk, If a Youma appears, you return to me immediately." She would not sacrifice her guardian, nor the Wolfpack's guardian for a simple recon mission.
To Amphi, she reached out and touched the girl's arm. "If you need me. I will come immediately." Her gaze then fell to the captain, "I trust Niss will help keep you safe though." Not that Amphi needed it. They were both eternals for a reason after all.
"Perhaps we can send Laby some information if we find anything too." It was best to keep the general updated whenever she could.
Captain Seraphinite chooses to crawl through the window and search inside. { 8 pts } What the ******** are you doing? is what Seraphinite wanted to say when Jet used his polearm to break the window. What the actual ******** are you doing? is what Seraphinite really wanted to say when Jet began to climb into one of the houses through said broken window. Get your a** back out here was on the tip of his tongue and Seraphinite might have been close to breaking some of his own teeth with how tight his jaw was clenched. Because while he would never cease speaking blatantly to Jet--or not question orders if he felt they were bullshit, or flat out refusals, or anything else that was blatant insubordination--because Jet was Ilian and Ilian was his best friend and pretty much his (younger) brother for all intents and purposes....
Jericho was proud of Ilian for all he'd done within the Negaverse, and achieving that rank wasn't so easy. Questioning him, speaking plainly to him, in front of others wasn't an option. It'd reflect poorly on Jet, and Seraphinite wasn't about to let s**t like that fly. He'd save his grumbling for later. For now? He glanced towards Gadolinite in an equivalent of <******** this, and reached up to hoist himself up to the window.

Guardian Silk chooses to head inside and explore the house.
Oh s**t. He blinked and turned his head and then Reven got lost. That dumb a**. Partly he was just saying that to himself to ease that bit of guilt he felt for not looking out for the other Guardian since she was still learning the ropes and stuff. His concern was soothed though, as the Captain Tron Reject affirmed the kitten was safe though.
He would be sure to ask how the hell she managed that another time.
But then someone else joined the party, and Silk was giving Alum a serious case of golden squinty eye. That was was far too chipper...but perhaps he was just so used and biased to the calm and collected perfection that was Adamantine, everyone else was a scrub in comparison. Oh well. Right now was time to focus.
The environment was interesting and he had never seen anything like it before. The kitten was absorbed in just taking in the sights, so was a bit startled when hands suddenly wrapped around him. Out of reflect, claws dug into Adamantine's collar, and he lifted it as he was lifted, but when he realized it was the Stardust senshi herself lifting him, he let go. Placed on the ground, Silk was immediately missing his perch on her shoulders, but his excitement at exploring a new and creepy house was getting the better of him.
"Yeah, you got it!" He replied, and honestly wasted no time in starting to hop his way up the said stairs.

General Faustite chooses to hop over the garden wall.
The general muttered to the air, a prayer meant for nothing and no one. "Come." Faustite's gesture, thin and silver-cast in the shifting light of the Rift, pulled command from the ether. What could come beyond the one that was bidden? Would a torrent of youma arrive in entourage to eir squid youma?
Nothing came yet — ey lingered a minute longer and watched bodies duck into the largest house of their area. One after the other after the other after the other, a process more than a coalition of people. The Negaverse's process, stamping dutifully into houses like a greater evil.
"Better to be few."Great numbers are great targets here. Ey spared a last glance to the building before a resoluteness overcame em, and with it, ey parted for the garden wall. A short leap overtook its crumbling mass and landed em in the Rift's backwashed, gnarled flowers and knotted clover. Nothing lingered there for as far as Faustite could see, or feel with the pulsing mass of chaos situated behind them. Ey spared Aue a meaningful glance before heading further inside the walled garden.
Faustite did not venture long without proper accompaniment, however. Tentacles splayed and swept into view as reciprocation of his gesture. The squid youma burbled, though threateningly at the corrupted senshi in Faustite's midst.
"If we need to torch the place," the general clarified in kind.
