Solo RP - Skye - Christmas Joys?
Christmas was always an interesting one with Skye’s family they never really knew what to do. The whole family bonding thing really wasn’t their style not in this way anyway. She had got use to the whole smiling and pretending life was perfect but lets face it… it wasn’t. She wanted to be out patrolling or something. She did love her parents and they had bought this beautiful apartment to stay in when they came to visit but it wasn’t the same. She would have much rather been back at home then here.
“We got you a present Skye.” Her father spoke in his usual way trying to be fatherly but failing.
“Oh?” Her curiosity made her pay attention as the box was given to her. She could see her mothers excitement which in all honesty worried her slightly. Her fathers face was the same as always generally rather dull looking.
She opened the box and found a key.
“A key?”
“To the apartment! It’s yours!” Her mother basically screeched as she spoke. No one needed to speak in that high a pitch.
“Mine? I get to move out of dorms? Yes!” Skye liked this idea, at last she was free to be herself and do what she wanted away from teachers prying eyes.
“No.” Her father’s no was a little too stern for her liking.
“What? Why?” Skye was generally use to getting her way and it wasn’t often she didn’t get it.
“You are to finish school in the dorms. Once you are at college you can move into the house. It is kitted out perfectly for you.” Her father spoke in a very matter-of-fact way and it annoyed her somewhat.
“I was coming home for college though!”
“Afraid not my dear, the house is being renovated and isn’t really habitable for a while. It might take a year or so they were saying. We are planning on doing some more work abroad while the house is being done so makes sense for you to stay here for college.” Her father’s words hurt. She had so been looking forward to going home but then it really shouldn’t have been that much of a surprise. Her parents probably did it on purpose. She knew how much they loved to travel.
“Well you have your friends here, you can come if you want but it would probably be best for you here.” Her mother’s feeble attempts at making her feel better. It actually translated to I will offer you the chance to come but you aren’t coming.
“You are probably right. Thanks for the apartment!” She tried to sound more optimistic and happy then she was but she wasn’t sure she was all that convincing. At least she had her own place to throw the best parties now! She would just remember that, she did have her own place to do what she wanted and that she was grateful for.
