It was some time in the unholy hours of the morning when Gaius stumbled away from the party, almost empty bottle in hand and brain completely lost to the alcohol he'd indulged in. But that was how he wanted it. He didn't want to think about the path, about Nita's tears, or the gravestones, or the scene he'd made over a silly wolf-puppet.
His slow, wobbly gate carried him through the village. He paused to sag against a duplex building as the world spun, threatening to toss him off.
"Sh'damnit... F'g'in' night..."
Pushing up his helmet, which immediately fell back over his eyes, Gaius rolled off the wall and continued onward determinedly.
He made it back to his duplex, dropping the bottle on his way up the stairs, and made a bee-line for the bathroom, where he proceeded to relieve himself in multiple ways of the night's indulgences. Then, still foggy-headed and not caring how he'd regret it all in the morning, Gaius collapsed across his bed still in his costume and passed out.

After how much drinking Gaius did the night before, the miserable feeling the next morning following nasty dreams are not exactly unexpected. Your throat is dry, your head is pounding, and you feel downright nauseous. Food doesn't sound appetizing, despite how hungry you are, and you whole body aches. The changes start with a bristling feeling on your tail. Depending on how perceptive you are, you may not even notice as it begins to fill out in long, coarse hair. Similarly, your hair thickens and lengthens, traililng further down your neck, the black overtaking whatever brown was left in your hair. That's about when you feel like you've been kicked by a horse. The pain hits you all at once as the major physiological changes begin. Your neck swells, lengthens. The vertebra thickening and pushing your head further away from your body. Meanwhile, your feet ache, similarly lengthening. It's like your neck and feet are being pulled in opposite directions by some unseen force. Your ears grow longer and more mobile as well. The massive changes seem to abate eventually... and things again pause... until the chicken wings on your back go through a strange surge of strength, bursting through the restraings if you are still wearing them. They grow - bones, muscle, sinews getting larger, longer, and stronger. And then, a prickling feeling as black pinions poke through the skin like thick needles, unfurling into ebony feathers in scattered places along the wings.

Gaius stood in the village. Only it wasn’t the village. He didn’t recall the place being lit with eerie red lights, like the path in the jungle. He was dressed in the armor suit still. Confused, he looked around himself, but the entire place was deserted, like a ghost town.
Somewhere at the edge of the rings of duplexes, a howl made Gaius jump. There was only one mad she-wolf on that island who made such a noise. Gaius’ heart jumped into his throat. Heavy panting with the underlying rumble of a throaty growl stalked between the buildings towards him. He took off, running through the village towards the lake – he didn’t care where he went, anyplace to get away from Annie. But, no matter how fast he ran, the panting breath and dripping, blood-gored teeth were always right behind him.
Suddenly, the village ended, just stopped, with a sheer cliff in front of him. Gaius was going too fast. He skidded and flailed his arms, but there was no way he could stop. Over the edge he went.
He fell.
And fell.
Darkness swallowed him up. Finally he landed roughly upon what felt like flat ground. A harsh light seemed to focus itself right above him, illuminating a few feet of circle, but beyond that was total darkness.
And the panting was still there.
Gaius grabbed out the plastic sword still strapped to his side and drew it out, hoping the few feet of plastic blade could somehow protect him.
As he held up his arm, the armor and skin beneath is on his sword-arm seemed to bubble and swell. Gaius watched wide-eyed as purple tentacles oozed from it, wrapping themselves around his hand, which was itself reducing to suction-cupped limb, and snaking up the rest of his arm. From amidst the mass of purple growth bubbled a beak-like mouth and a pair of watery purple eyes.
"S'all... yer... bloody fault! S’all yer… fault…” Black ink bubbled from the beak and dribbled down his arm. “’m like this… ‘cause of… yeh…”
Gaius shook his head, staring with horror, but another growth swelling from his left shoulder caught his attention. Rough brown hair stood up like too much dry grass and a surly grin over a cleft chin leered at him. “What’s the matter, ya chicken? Pretty pink pony too much of a p***y to fight?”
“What? No! I-I’m not a chicken..” he protested to the shoulder-Freddie.
“S’all… yer fault…”
“p***y!”
The shirt over his belly was pushed up as a blackened nose and innocent green eyes glared accusingly at him. “Where were you, huh? Why didn’t you protect us? I should have known you were a coward…”
Gaius’ chest heaved with panic-gripped breaths. His neck muscles bulged, straining away from his traitorous body.
He felt it before he saw it. A sickening crunching sensation as a second mouth split and grow out from the right side of his face. It pushed out, cruel fangs curving from a maliciously sneering maw. Red scales speckled the sides, trailing back over his own nose.
From nowhere, a mirror appeared before him, and Zach-Gaius grinned back at him. “What’sss the matter, chicken wingsss? Don’t like what you sssee?”
The mirror vanished, in its place standing Nita, who stared with horror at Gaius. She shook her head, backing away. “You… you monster!”
“Nita!” Gaius stumbled a step forward, reaching out with his good arm, pleading. “Nita, wait, this isn’t me…!”
“Seabiscuit!”
“Yeh tempted… me…!”
“Coward.”
“Chicken wingsss…”
Nita’s form melted and grew indistinct in the shadows. What had been a cute little face was a massive snarling muzzle, brown fur bristling over her body, and massive blood-stained claws menaced him. A snarl gurgled behind the yellowed teeth.
Gaius had only enough time to let out a scream before Nita-Annie leapt upon him, tearing into his throat.

Hangovers Were Never This BadSuffering from the previous night's adventures and the symptoms of a pre-change, Gaius leaves his duplex to get medications. Along the way, he runs into Liamh, but the changes overtake Gaius, and he reaches 50% in Liamh's bathroom.http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=6406411
