"Ih... if he dih we'da heard." Sid gestured vaguely at the buildings around them and the speakers that were hidden somewhere with the cameras. He didn't seem to care enough to press him on who they were for, at least not after finding out it wasn't Gaius who was developing a drinking problem. That would have been fun.

Gaius sighed again. "I guess you're right... though I'm thinking I need to find a new way to stash this stuff... How can I drain all these bottles and hide them?" He looked down at his latest acquirement thoughtfully.

Sid pondered that for a moment. "Ssmash 'em and uth... use 'em foh modern ar'? Or somefin. Ah dunno."

Gaius shook his head. "Nah, I need the empty bottles intact! For, uh, something..."

He shifted his weight from foot to foot. He'd already said way more than he really should have, especially in such a public place. Gaius knew that if he stuck around much longer, he'd only let more slip.

Suddenly, he thrust one of the bottles to Sid, along with a hopeful smile. "Here, you like this stuff, right? It's, uh, consider it my apology for all the bad luck that seems to come with our run-ins?"

Sid eyed the bottle, but how could he say no to Gray Goose? He took it.

"An I suppothe- sssuppose yeh espect thih buys mah thilence ath well?" he asked, the way his mouth moved for force out those s's- when he managed- was interesting, if disturbing. He arched an eyebrow at Gaius as he said it.

After a beat he laughed. "Jus' kiddin'. Mah lipss are... Well, I won' tahk. Thanksss." He tipped the bottle at, still looking amused.

The was about to protest that he'd never sink to such levels when Sid's laugh caught Gaius off guard. It was a bit unnerving to watch him cackle with that maw, but Gaius laughed anyways, an odd snorting accompanying it.

"I'll see you around, then!" He gave Sid a brief salute and turned to head off back to his duplex.

"Lay'ah," Sid replied. His curosity sated and vodka to rewarded, he turned and walked the way he had come.

[NEW RP]

Another day, another attempt at work. After a couple weeks, Gaius had managed to carve out chair seats that were at least comfortable to sit in, even figuring a divot in the back for a tail to rest in easily, though he'd have to work out larger ones for those with thicker tails, like Amaya. Now, his problem was... how did he make a back rest to go with? An open space with a backrest above seemed the best route, but he was trying to think of how better to accomodate the tails without having to thread them through a hole each time anyone sat down. A pile of scrapped half-made ideas sat in a pile nearby. There was also the issue of stability, which was giving him a bus load of pain. What he wouldn't give for a power drill and screwdriver right now...

Gaius sat down on one of the crates constituting his work table and proped his chin on his fist and sighed, scowling at the work.

After his inspiring run in with Chana had spent the remaining day and night feverishly drafting plans. He had seen Gaius working on his chairs and taken the lack of power tools into account(mostly). Quite pleased with himself, he had slept in to prep for the work that lay ahead.

He was a walking up to Gaus's makeshift workshop with a notebook and a water cooler he had borrowed from the cafiteria. Lacking proper work clothes he had torn the sleeves off one of his shirts and cut off a pair of his pants above the knees for shorts. Combined with the almost knee high socks the effect was extremely comical. A wide sat grin on his face. "Hey there Gaius, mind sharing the tools for a bit?"

Gaius didn't notice Richard until the old man finally addressed him. He looked up, his eyes instantly taking in the man's unusual attire. His expression was one of surprise.

"Uh, sure..." The muscled fellow got up from where he was sitting and moved out of the way so Richard could have room, all the while giving the man an odd look. He noted the paper and water cooler with raised eyebrows. Curiosity was impossible to keep off for long.

"Er, are you planning on making something...?"

"Two things, actually. Probably keep me busy for quite a while actually." Richard laid the notebook on Gaius' table and opened it to the first page, revealing the plans for what appeared to be a bulletin board. He flipped about ten pages in to a list of the lumber measurements he would need. He threaded his finger down the list then looking at the lumber piled around the site.

Gaius peered over Richard's shoulder. "Huh. Some kind of post board? I dunno that we have any corkboard or whatever you'd need..." He scratched at an ear, watching the old guy pick through the scraps of lumber around. "And if you're wanting some longer narrow pieces, there were more back in the strorage room." He jabbed a thumb back towards the town center.

Richard smiles, "A community message board actually. The village needs a central place to post news and events. Don't you think so? Of course its just a warm up for the next project." Richard's eyes practically glow with excitement as closes the notebook and sets it on the crate.

"Right, I'm going to need some longer peices to build the frame. I'll have to order some shingles for the top and maybe cork board. Tacks go into most two by fours just fine in my experiance though." Richard starts heading toward the town center.

"I'll be right back."

"Yeah, I figure wood will do okay in the meantime... And I guess a central message thingy would be good..." Gaius continued to look confused and a bit skeptical despite his agreements.

He watched Richard walk off, wondering if perhaps he should help the old guy. Glancing over the notes, Gaius resisted the urge to turn pages and see what this 'next project' was. Shaking his head, Gaius reprimanded himself for being foolish and hurried after Richard's retreating form. "Hang on! I'll help carry stuff. It can be heavy and we don't want you overworking yourself!"

Richard chuckled, "You'll make a fine grandmother Gaius, but I do appreicate the help." Richard fairly sure he could handle the bullitin board himself but he would need someone's help for the next step.

Reaching the town center, he produced a measuring tape and started to select peices of lumber. As he busied himself he chatted, "You think I can order a some pressure treated foot wide poles? Maybe about eight of them should be enough."
