The Random Stranger

"Huh... so where did you find this strange looking guy?" Luis asked of Chalcedony and his father as the two of them appeared with Chalcedony carrying a rather odd looking guy into their tree top home. Taking in the strange coloration that he had, colors that he couldn't place, he was instantly falling into step behind them. The coloration this man had, it was like nothing the young boy had ever seen before that was for sure, and as such he couldn't help to find this newcomer to be just as he'd said before, weird. The newcomer had dark blue hair, unlike anyone he'd seen before, skin that reminded him a bit of the Leaf Tribe save for the weird patches of blue, and two different colors of jewels as well, some that were pink and some that were blue. All in all he was just... weird... some sort of mutt, maybe? Daringly the boy hurried forward, reaching out a hand to poke at one of the guy's many scars then asked, "Is he some sort of foreign warrior? Do you know him Chalcedony? Is he from Zena or Sauti or Tale or something?" His many questions caused the shield barer to finally give pause, turning to look down at Luis.

After a moment he gave him a smile, "I can't really say. I don't know him, I just knew when I saw him that I had to step in. He was making too much noise and attracted a Menzuri. Given he's not from around here I am sure he wouldn't have known that messing with one of those is just a losing battle waiting to happen. When I went to help him... well, he sort of fainted dead away in my arms."

Luis set to laughing at that comment, "He swooned like a girl? For reals? I think you are pulling my leg, that guy looks rather tough." He said, not sure that he really believed what Chalcedony was saying. Why would some tough looking guy faint? Wasn't that something girls did? He couldn't believe it given that he had to be tough, at least in Luis's mind, given all the scars that he had. Surely Chalcedony was just joking around, right?

"It has nothing to do with toughness." Bomani finally spoke up to his son, scooping him up with one arm, letting the boy perch on his shoulder, "He's far too light weight, I mean look at how easily your brother carries him. Not to mention the dark marks under his eyes. If I were to guess he hasn't eaten or slept in days, something that would cause any man to collapse. One can't keep going if their body has nothing to run on." He explained to his son, not wanting for Luis to think for even a moment that being a man made someone invincible. This one that Chalcedony had found, he looked awful... what he'd been through before now they could only guess, but now that Chalcedony had picked him up it would be up to them to tend to him, to try to help him recover, and if the foreigner was lucky he would live despite the terrible condition that his body was in.

Chal nodded as his father spoke, "I don't like how light he is... I'd swear that either of the twins weigh more then he does." He said, giving the one in his arms a once over. It couldn't be good for a man this age to weigh so little... not to mention the scars. Surely he couldn't be old enough to have gained them all in battle, not when he had no weapons on him. What had happened to cause a man like this to end up in the middle of Jauhar without any food, water, weapons, or allies? It was a prospect that he didn't like the idea of mostly because the idea of being in that situation was, to Chalcedony, a rather terrifying one. He recalled his lonely walk back from Zena some time ago as being one of the worst times of his life, add to that not having any supplies, he had no idea how they man could have survived. Where was his family? His friends? Surely there had to be someone out there that knew this guy? He wanted to believe it to be so and yet he was alone.

"We can't assume anything until we can talk to him." He added after a long while of debating over what might be going on with him. There was no way of knowing with what information they had what might have brought this guy into Jauhar without nearly enough supplies to sustain him. As such the best that they could do was wait, hope for the best as far as the man's recovery went, and once he came to maybe he could tell them what was going on, "Until then I think we should leave Momma in charge of him, I am sure if anyone can get him fattened up and back on his feet it would be her." It wasn't as though any of their family members had gone with out where her cooking was concerned. She was likely to see this as some sort of a challenge, to get this man back into a more healthy state, and once she was 'done with him' he would likely be ready to talk.

Bomani nodded his head, "It sounds like a plan, though until we are sure he isn't some sort of escaped prisoner we will be keeping a close eye on him around your mother and siblings." He wouldn't allow anyone, not even a man in this condition, to threaten his family after all. Soon enough the still unconscious foreigner was being tucked into bed with Zahra fretting over him, Luis commenting on how weird he still felt he looked, and all the while the three girls were trying to guess at what tribe their new guest might be from. Their guesses, as well as those that Luis tossed out there, were as good as any. Yet another one of those things that they could only guess at until the man finally woke up and filled them in about the various details about himself. Once that happened they'd know, until then though the twins seemed to be having fun making up various stories about who or what the guy might be.

To Jauhar and Back

Leaving his sons behind had to be the most painful thing that Chalcedony had ever had to do but it was also one of those things that he knew was necessary. He wanted to stay where he'd been, helping out Keilana with the twins, but he needed to go back home to Jauhar. If he stayed away much longer his family was sure to think that something awful had happened to him and he didn't want to stress them out. Best that he head back to Jauhar, find his family, gather them together, and tell them the good news. He had left saying he was gonna be back that night or maybe the next day and it had been a good week already, not what he'd planned at all but plans had changed when Keilana went into labor. Not to mention that he wanted to prove that Jacinthus that he could help out and carry his weight, make up for the fact that he hadn't done enough while Keilana was pregnant. Sure, there was the fact that h hadn't know for some time that Keilana was carrying but somehow he doubted that the archer would have accepted such an excuse even if it wasn't an attempt to get out of doing hard work. Now though, as he headed away from Yera, he could only imagine what the guy was thinking and saying about him. It was likely that he was laughing it up, glad to be rid of Chalcedony, not that he meant to stay away forever just to make that Leaf Tribe jerk happy he thought to himself.

Sighing a bit he found himself thinking about what it was that he was going to do from here on out. He wanted to continue to train of course, wanted to continue to help out his family in Jauhar, as well as patrol and keep the area safe... but he couldn't very well abandoned the twins now could he? He was going to have to better manage his time, figure out how to split it between both places and both halves of his family, and how to keep from leaving either side hanging. It was rather difficult for sure and he couldn't help but to wonder if this is how his father felt when he was forced to split his time between patrols and family. He recalled him being away from long periods of time and it was something that he'd resented Bomani for then. Now though he could actually understand better what had kept the man away. It was something he felt that he should probably apologize for but he didn't know if the man would accept such words. Better that he instead made up for it by continuing to work hard. Him vanishing for a week, now that was something he would really need to apologize for to the man since it would likely appear as though he were slacking off completely he thought to himself as he continued the trek forward, closing the ground between Tale and Jauhar as quickly as he could.

No matter how fast he moved though he doubted very highly that he would be able to make the journey back and forth as quickly as he would like. A shame that there wasn't a faster way to cover the ground he thought to himself, making a bit of a face as he went. No matter, he would be there soon enough and really no matter how fast he went now it wasn't really going to make up for all of the time that he'd been away, not if his family had been fretting. At the same time if they were really worried he supposed that Bomani could easily have come to Yera to look for him even if the man didn't often leave the forests of Jauhar if he could help it. Not everyone was into traveling to other lands, Chalcedony knew that he likely wouldn't be if not for Keilana's condition and then the appearance of his sons. If it weren't for them, especially with Takoda living in Tale, he would likely have been content with staying away from Tale all together. Nothing against the other tribes but after what had gone down between himself, Jacinthus, and Takoda it really did color the idea of going to Tale for him. Needless to say the fact that he'd had to stay with those two while helping Keilana out did make things a touch awkward and uncomfortable.

The moment that he crossed into Jauhar he felt himself relaxing a little, as thought a weight had been taken off his shoulders. A lot of time had passed, time that was used to try to get over Takoda, but being around him for long periods of time was still a bit of a bother. He really shouldn't allow it to get to him but he couldn't help it, he missed him. A part of him wished that he had tried to fight harder for him but he didn't want to hurt Takoda, the Healer had picked Jacinthus after all, hadn't even realized that Chalcedony had feelings for him, and as such fighting for him would have been selfish. He had given him up so that Takoda would be happy even if the Healer wasn't happy with him. It was just hard to see him happy with the Leaf Tribesman. It wasn't as though he'd planned the incident with Keilana or that it would lead to the two of them ending up with a pair of sons. It was a mistake on his part caused by alcohol and the two of them both being in a terrible, low mood at the time. Not as though he'd used such a think to get out of taking care of his sons or anything, they were his responsibility and he wanted nothing more then to be their father, to help to raise and provide for them, and prove to that idiot archer that he was capable of helping. He shouldn't let the guy get to him but everything about Jacinthus made Chalcedony want to punch him in his smug face.

Shaking his head to clear such thoughts he instead tried to focus on better, nicer things, such as his sons. He would need to bring them to visit his family, maybe when they were older, or maybe bring his family to visit them. It would be one hell of a procession, and a loud one at that, getting them all to Yera, but it would be nice. They should be able to meet with the boys, something he was sure that they would want to do, his mother especially. It would be nice he thought to himself though given that his youngest brother had just been born he wondered if she would be up for traveling any time soon. It was a bit strange when he thought about it, that his youngest sibling was just barely older then his sons were. Perhaps they would be friends as they got older he thought to himself idly before he came to a tree he knew well, starting the long climb that would take him to the same level that his family was on. He would need to walk across many branches to get to where he needed to go but it shouldn't take too terribly long and when he got their his family would be waiting for him.

He could actually hear them long before he saw them, something that made him smile a bit as he got closer and closer to them. He wanted nothing more then to run... but no reason to do so, he'd be there soon enough he thought to himself. It took only a little longer and he was heading into the area where his family was located... and a moment after he arrived he was getting pounced on by Isa.

The little girl clung to his legs, gazing up at him with big eyes, smiling brightly, before she said, "I knew that you would be home." As though there was never any doubt in her mind that Chalcedony would be home sooner or later. It made him wonder what everyone else might have been saying that caused her to be so adamant about her beliefs. He was half tempted to ask before the others seemed to realize that he was home and they were soon on their way over as well.

The twins, Luis, and then his parents, all gathered around asking him a multitude of questions that had his head spinning a little bit as he tried to keep up with them. They all seemed to be about the same line of questions just asked in a different order and with different wording. All the basics 'where had he been', 'why didn't he come home when he said he'd come home', 'had he gotten in a fight', 'was he alright' and various other questions.

He waited for them to finally slow down on the questions before he gave a bit of a smile. He'd really missed them even if it was almost impossible to get a word in edgewise he thought to himself, "I'm really sorry for taking so long to get home." He said, lifting a hand up to scratch it against the back of his head, "It wasn't that I had been planning to stay away for so long but things happened. You all know that I was going to go and visit with Keilana, to see how she was doing, to see if there was anything that she needed, and well... I got there in time to find her in labor." Words that brought on a fresh wave of questioning, something that actually had the Shifter chuckling a little bit. He shouldn't be surprised that everyone was so excited, it was their first chance at being grandparents, aunts, or uncles, depending on which one it was that they were.

After a moment Chalcedony lifted a hand up to try to get them to slow down before he continued, "There was already a healer on hand to help take care of her and help her to get through her labor, which was lucky. As for what the baby was... well, actually it turned out that there wasn't just one, instead there were two. I have two sons now, their names are Aysun and Chandra, they are quite adorable." He said, his voice going gentle in a manner that he couldn't help but to use when talking about the two boys. They were so cute, so small, and so snugly he thought to himself, hands flexing slightly. He hated the fact that his arms felt so empty at the moment. He really wished that he could be holding the boys right now but it was rather imperative that they stay with their mother he thought to himself. He shook his head to clear that thought before he gave a smile, "Ahhh, their mother is doing well, she just needs rest I feel, though mother probably knows all about that." It was a statement that had the woman giving a little chuckle.

Taking a step forward the woman reached out, ruffling her son's hair in a gentle manner, "You are such a good boy, Chal, coming back to let us know that you are alright. I was quite worried you know, even if you are my oldest I still worry about you, you are my baby after all." She said to him before continuing, "I can tell that you probably feel the same though, don't you? You look quite worried yourself so perhaps you should go back for a little longer?" She suggested.

"I wouldn't normally agree with your mother when it comes to you taking too much time off from your training but in this instance she is probably right, Chalcedony, you should probably go back to your sons, help out where you can." Bomani said after a long moment of thought. The man was always pushing Chalcedony, he was the oldest as well as a male, when it came to his training but it wasn't every day that a man became a father. Sure, Bomani had done so many times over but that didn't mean that it wasn't special to him each time one of his children was born. Be it the first born like Chalcedony was or the sixth born as Shay was he loved all of his children even if he could be a bit tough on them. Lifting a hand he waved it at his son, "Best that you go back, though I suggest that you gather some supplies to take with you. You don't want your woman thinking that you are some sort of slacker or something." He told his son.

Chalcedony looked back and forth between his parents before giving them a bright smile, "Thank you, I really would like to return to stay with Keilana and the boys for a while longer, to help out where I can." He said, glad that his parents were actually so willing to allow him to go back. He had been worried that they would want him to stay in Jauhar for a time, to tend to his training and his work, but the fact that he was told to go back, it meant a lot to him. Not to mention that it would likely mean a lot to Keilana as well, "I will see about gathering some stuff that will please Keilana and the I will be on my way back. I will be in the village called Yera, it's the closest Leaf Tribe village to Jauhar. So if anyone needs me come and get me, alright?" Best to remind him where they were going and that they could send word to him he thought to himself before he turned on his heel and hurried to get ready.

After a moment Reva, Vera, Luis, and Isa chased along after him, all of them calling out to him that they wanted to help him to get ready to go. It had been a while since he was gone for so long, not since he'd gone to Zena, and they wanted to spend as much time with their brother as possible before he returned to Tale once more.

Bomani's Challenge

"Wait... wait... I am doing what now?" Chalcedony asked in a rather surprise filled voice, unable to help but to stare at his father with wide eyes. He had to of heard that wrong, right? Sure, the man had been helping him with his training for some time now, giving him various challenges to over come, sending him on specific hunts against dangerous creatures, and various other tests but this newest challenge was something that was a surprising one. Before now everything that he was told to do didn't involve a long stay away from home, not to mention some travel so that he could get to where he was going, and yet this time it did. Surely the man was joking? Chalcedony couldn't leave home, not when he had so much going on, now when he had a son to take care of. Now couldn't be the best time for him to go wandering off even if it was just to an at the South edge of Jauhar. It just didn't seem like the best idea when he had a lot holding him here at home.

Bomani looked up at his son from where he was sitting, giving his son a smile, then said, "You are going to a tournament, you will sign yourself up for it, and you will fight on behalf of our tribe. I think that it will be good for you, as a way to test yourself and your skills, and see if you are on the right track. You have told me many times in the past that you worried your rank had been given to you too early. I think now is the time to see if you feel differently." He said, pushing himself up to his feet, clapping his son on the shoulder, "And you don't need to worry about little Aysun, it's not as though you are going wading into a inter tribal war, this is just a series of games of skill. There is no reason the boy can't go with you." He told him, sure that Aysun would enjoy himself, "You should go to Tale, see if Keilana is going as well, and if not you should just bring Chandra with you too. I am sure it would be good for the boy to go on a journey with you both since he spends more time in Tale with his mother."

Chalcedony nodded, "Perhaps, though if the tournament is for all tribes I can't quite see her sitting it out. If anything she will be wading into it with that hammer of hers looking for her own glory." He said with a bit of a chuckle, able to picture that so easily, "She is one that I hope I don't have to battle it out with, I am sure she'd take me down with a quickness... and the boys would probably cheer her on as she did." He said with a laugh. Even if Aysun had decided that he wanted to live in Jauhar for a time he knew that the boy still loved his mother. He could easily see the twins cheering them both of their parents on unless they met up during a match, then it would be all cheers for their Mommy he thought to himself then smiled, "I will probably go to Tale, see if she is going, then perhaps travel with her and the twins to where the Tournament Grounds are located." It would be quite an interesting trip for sure... though it might become awkward if her brother and Takoda ended up going as well.

Sure, time had passed since everything had gone down between himself and the archer but it didn't mean that he could stand the guy, try as he might any time the two of them crossed paths they ended up growling at each other like a couple of Witu. No matter how much they tried to be civil for the sake of the twins it just didn't seem to work out. It took little time at all before the two of them were at the others throat again, it was why they tried to spend as little time as possible with each other as possible. The idea of having to travel with the guy though, that was a rather terrible prospect. Best that he saw if Keilana and Chandra wanted to travel with himself and Aysun, it would make things go a lot more smoothly if you asked him, "Yeah, the two of us traveling with our boys would probably be a good idea." He murmured to himself, "Still, do you think it's a good idea? I mean play fighting with others... is that really a good way to use my skills?" He asked of his father.

The man started to laugh in an amused manner, "A god way to use your skills? Of course! I know you, Chalcedony, and I know damn well that you would much rather battle it out in play acted battles as opposed to real ones. Tell the truth, you don't really want to get into a real life or death sort of fight, do you? You would only get into a tussle like that if someone you love was in danger. It's how I would prefer it too." His son was far too kindhearted, just like his mother, and because of that he would do best in this Tournament. This way he would be able to test himself without having to hold back because it was certain that the Tournament would come with various rules that wouldn't allow for any real damage, they would likely have Healers on hand, and various other ways of keeping the combatants safe, "I want you to fight your hardest, no matter who it is that you find yourself battling against. Even if it is the mother of your children you can't pull your punches because I somehow doubt she would go easy on you."

"Yeah... I doubt that too." Chal said, laughing a bit. He doubted that Keilana would go easy on anyone, not even that brother of hers, and because of that he would hope against hope not to face with her. It wasn't that he didn't want to have a duel with her sometime but if their sons were going he would rather not fight it out with her where they might see and worry, "I will go and talk with Aysun and then see about packing up some supplies so that we can head to Tale and then on to the Tournament. Will you all be alright?" He asked, knowing that his father had been busy with his patrols, with all of his children, with their mother, and with everything that happened daily in Jauhar.

Bomani nodded his head, "Yeah, everything will be fine. After the Tournament is over you two come straight back so that you can tell us how it went." He said, then motioned to him, "Go talk to your Mother, I am sure she will only be too happy to help pack for your journey. Not to mention that Shay is going to want to smother Aysun with lots of hugs before he goes." It was an odd sort of thing, that Aysun and Bomani's youngest son Shay, were being raised side by side despite one technically being the uncle to the other. It wasn't as though they required Aysun to call Shay uncle after all, they just called each other by name. Due to this, due to them being so close, it would be sad for Shay to see his playmate go but Bomani was sure that he would understand, "Get going, I will go and check on Shay and Aysun, see what they are up to while you and Zahra pack." He said, patting Chalcedony on the shoulder before he headed on his way, leaving Chalcedony go to in the other direction toward where Zahra was sure to be given the time of day.
