Oulixes's Speed Roll

He wasn't sure what he thought about battling it out with Chalcedony, the man had helped him out in the passed after all, but this was just how things had worked out due to the brackets. He was curious to see how the battle turned out, eager to get it underway, and glad that finally the third time was the charm and that he wouldn't be facing off against another magic slinger. After battling so many of those in a row he was glad to finally get a break from such thing.

Chal's Speed Roll
5 + 3 = 8
Chalcedony smiled when he spotted Oulixes, not having seen him for a time given that the man had insisted that move on, wanting to take care of himself. He was a skittish sort, the kind that wanted to do everything on his own, and it worried Chal a bit given the condition Oulixes had been in when they first met. He was looking better though, stronger, and he'd made it this far in the tournament which was saying something. He'd have to see about trying to chat with him when it was all over but for now he was preparing himself for the battle ahead. He'd seen some of the other man's battles and knew that it would be quite an interesting fight for sure.

Oulixes attacks Chal.

Oulixes needs a 21 to hit.
Rolled: 17 (+7) = 25, hits
dmg: 15 (+7)/2 = 11
Oulixes drew in a deep breath, steadied himself, and went racing forward toward the Shifter as quickly as his feet would take him, drawing back his swords, and brought them down in an X shaped attack toward the other man. He was opposed to attacking someone that he knew, as well as liked, but he would do his best not to cause too much damage. The very last thing he wanted to do was harm Chal too much when the man's family was nearby watching, his children included.

The attack was one that came at him quicker then he was able to react and he found himself staggering backwards from the double strikes from the dual swords the other man was wielding. It was, to say the very least, painful, and it had his head spinning. He did his beast to swing back with his broad, heavy shield, but as off kilter as he was it was difficult for him to aim and therefore it wasn't too much of a surprise when he missed completely. Taking a couple steps back, shaking his head as he did so, he prepared for the next attack that he knew would be coming at him at any moment.

Oulixes had to admit that he was a little surprised that he had been able to land such a powerful blow against a more experienced warrior... and then to be able to dodge the incoming attack, that was nice as well. His next attack didn't go so well though, taking a couple of quick slashes at him only to have his blade bounce off the massive shield that the other man was carrying. That would be the biggest challenge he knew, to get by the shield that was almost like an animal's shell, but he would do all that he could to do just that.

Chal needs 14+ to hit Oulixes.
Roll to hit: 19 + 6 = 25, gives a -5 to dodge due to the to hit roll.
Roll for dmg: (15 + 6 )/2 + 3 = 13.5
BS CD: 1/5
Drawing in a deep breath to steady himself the Massif moved forward into a charge toward Oulixes. He was gathering a lot of power into the charge, his attack akin to a Mammu charging, and as he got close he swung the heavy shield in a huge, upward arch toward Oullixes hoping to return the favor when it came to aches and pains that Chal knew he'd be feeling for some time to come.

Oulixes attempts to dodge.
7 + 5 = 12 - 5 = 7, hits for full dmg. Ow again. Plus unable to counter.
Oulixes did his best to try to dodge out of the way of the incoming attack but found himself just a little bit too slow to do so. The moment the shield collided with him he was sent flying through the air, landing in a heap on his back, and he remained there, completely stunned for a good long moment. That had been... painful... not to mention that there was suddenly a swarm of birds and stars circling around his head. It took some time to get back to his feet and even then he found himself too unsteady to try to attack back quite yet...

Chalcedony couldn't help but to feel a little bad over sending Oulixes flying in such a manner, wincing a bit when the other man hit the ground, and he stood there waiting a moment to see if he was going to get back up for that. When he did he couldn't help but to be impressed, giving Oulixes a smile and a nod before going in for his next attack, once more swinging his heavy shield at the man before him. The battle was feeling pretty even at the moment and as such he would need to continue to push if he wanted to take control of the match.

19 + 7/5 = 5.2
Oulixes was able to drag himself backwards out of the way of the second attack, though just barely, and then lunged forward to attack the other guy in return. He was hurting but that had never caused him to give up in the past. How often had he gotten beaten to a pulp after all only to get up and shake it off? It was just how life went and he would continue to push himself time and again to keep from being an underdog loser. No reason to hold back, Chalcedony seemed to be able to take it after all...

There was another attack from Oulixes, just as swift as before, and Chal found himself unable to get out of the way of it. He had to give it to the other guy, he was fast, and those swords of his hurt even though he knew that Oulixes was just using the flats of the blades. It seemed that he didn't want to draw blood, just wanted to fight his hardest and see about getting through another match. Feeling the same way he moved forward to take a swing at Oulixes once more, wanting to keep the other man on his toes, ever looking for an opening to attack.

The swordsman danced backwards out of the way of the large shield that had been swung his way before he lunged forward at Chal, looking for an opening, before he struck out at him. This was going well, he felt as though he were doing good against the shield barer, he just had to keep it up he told himself. He didn't want to hold back, didn't want to risk missing, wanted to keep pushing until the battle ended, regardless of the results.
