He failed... he failed and there was nothing he could have done about it. It was tailored for him to fail, he though, perhaps to instill the fear of losing his heart. That fear would drive him to fight against the odds to prevent such an event from happening, to strive to keep his heart. No one must take it...

Nature? This question had Hale's brows furrowing in thought. What was her nature...She could immediately claim she was a predator...but what more was in her nature? She left after receiving her blessing, pondering this question as she felt more tugs at her subconscious.

Chaesel took slow, steady steps into the shrine.
It felt sluggish, each step dripping lazily into the next. The back of her neck felt hot with embarrassment. She was a failure.
The blessing felt like a jackhammer into her knees. She collapsed to the ground, feeling the cool tile against her shins. "I'm sorry ... I'm sorry."
It wasn't the end. It could have been minutes or years, but time lapsed. Chaesel stood up once more. She needed to hit something. To fight. To succeed. It wasn't over yet.

There were cracks appearing in the world. Voices leaked out at random times. It was disturbing for Take... Tiekash. He blinked and swallowed, upset by how things were changing.
Nature. What was his nature. Tiek clutched at his blank nametag, eyebrows furrowing, "I don't know what my nature is... But I know that I will not be hunted down. I will fight. I won't give up."
That was it, wasn't it? Predator, and not prey. "Thank you for showing me this, Goddess."

The shrine gave her peace. Even as she bowed and received the new blessing, even as she felt voices leak into the world where had once been silence, Rostym was unafraid.
It was the will of the goddesses. She would not falter, for only those who adapted to the changing environment would survive.

{Alice - Leia}
Leia returned back to where she belonged. She just couldn't stop thinking about what had just happened. That was another time. Another time she had failed. What more could she do to a heart that was slowly becoming unraveled?
She slowly walked over to the pedestals, and reading each.
Predator, or Prey.
She knew in her heart, what she must do. She knew that she must keep trying, even if her own beating heart would stop before that would happen. "I will not fail again," Leia said as she laid the weapon down on the Prey's place. "I shall not fail. I shall keep going, no matter how much pain it may cause to me."
She bowed to the altar, before rising up again, and turning away. She felt slightly more accomplished than she had before, even though her attempt did not suit what she wanted the most. To live.

A low sigh escaped the girl as she walked in. She still didn't really like that she'd lost that game of tag to a shadow. "Gotta practice~" She chimed, more to herself than anyone as she moved up along the way to the goddess. She offered the woman a bright smile as she bowed her head, accepting the blessing before continuing on. "Next time, can I be It? I wanna chase someone too!" She added before moving back to step away.
Next time would be fun. After all, even if it hurt a little... they didn't have lasting pains.
Ako wasn't exactly as chipper as he'd have hoped to be. The memory was still fresh in his mind of his very core being ripped out. His ears lay low as he slowly made his way down the aisle toward the goddess, eyes downcast.
There was no wag to his tail, little happiness to be seen. Rather, he was fearful, timid of what could happen if someone turned. He'd trusted that shadow, why he couldn't fully recall, but... he trusted them. They'd hurt him. Did that mean everyone he trusted would hurt him? He watched the goddess a moment, making a small noise of uncertainty as he bowed his head to her, accepting the blessing.
So would she too turn on him? Hopefully not, but he wasn't sure anymore. With that done, he slowly walked away again, one hand clutched to the faint glow in his chest. ..what now?

Perhaps... no certainly he could have hoped to do better. Tripping on a bridge being the end of him? He still felt the sting of the sharp edge tearing into him, the sting of his very center being torn out. That wicked face masked in shadow. At first he'd feared it, been wear of the thing. Now though, perhaps mere anger to have failed in such a way. He wasn't so easily beaten was he?
Still, there wasn't much to argue of it. He'd lost. He'd have to work on it. Regardless, his actions were enough to please the goddess it seemed. He bowed his head to the woman, accepting the change even as he stood again. A firm nod was offered, but little as he turned to walk out again. He would... find a way to improve.
She was here again but could barely remember why. She felt small, so small and infantile that the Goddesses could probably barely see her. Mel'ae stood and felt something inside filling the void of guilt and shame from failure, replacing it steadily. Coughing once or twice her hands remained over her core as a shield and her eyes twitched as she looked around.
At least she had this - the new power filling her would help, surely. Taking it with a nod of her head she turned and left as quickly as her feet would carry her.
She returned to the shrine, hoping for some sort of comfort. She knelt to receive their blessing but she left the room more troubled than before. She decided to find a quiet corner to rest...she was so very tired now.
Balt returned, taking comfort in the fact that the creature was finally gone. He was alive and he was safe. As for his nature, well... He had a better idea as to what it was now.
Ralifa was just glad to be back. The pain of her heart was odd as she splayed a hand over her chest momentarily. Even so, she took her licks and blessings graciously.
This was all for something right?

Rojand knelt to the Goddess. Could she feel the reluctance in his Heart? He hoped not, though he suspected she could. His sacrifice had been made. He'd had no choice. He'd had to give up what he'd regained; he would ask for something in return.
She still hadn't quite shaken the feel of the pain in her chest by the time she stumbled back in to the shrine. The blessing was welcome, though, to chase away just a bit of that feeling... Even if it left her with a dozen others.
Ryjer moved as though in a trance. He was prey. He would be eaten. Was this all metaphorical? His chest still ached, and his eyes still stung. It didn't feel metaphorical. The blessing would wash over him, though, he assured himself, it would make everything better.
Tsumi couldn't remember much from the last encounter. Only that she had managed to be a predator instead of prey. There was a lingering feeling though that she just couldn't make sense off but brushed it aside as she stepped forward to collect her blessing.
