She woke with a scream, her hand going to her chest as she sat up. Her heart was still there, and she wasn't dead, but she still felt empty. How long she sat there she had no idea, but her legs had gone numb by the time she tried to stand. She eyed the pedestals and without a moment's hesitation she dropped the dagger on the "prey" platform. The memories awoken from the fight left almost instantly, but she still felt hollow. She was whole but she still hurt, and as she shuffled out to the shrine she had to fight the urge to find a nice corner and just...go back to sleep.

Balt approached the podium, his expression grim. He didn't quite understand what had just happened, but from what he experienced he now knew the nature of his that the goddess had spoken of. Throughout the entire ordeal he hadn't given up, nor had he surrendered. Instead he had slain the predator and in doing so, he became a predator himself.
He would never submit and become prey.
The dagger was returned, placed directly on top of the podium labeled 'predator.'

Ralifa gasped, clutching at her chest as she awoke. Dazed, confused, frightened. It was all....it wasn't real. She still had her heart. Thank Goddess she was still alive!
But she had failed. At least, in her mind. She had not managed to get away though she had tried her hardest to do so. Her lips pulled tight over her teeth as a heavy frown appeared. This experience was most disturbing.
She made her way over to the podiums once more, noting that the Goddess was no where to be seen. Pulling out the jeweled dagger, which she never even got to use, she laid it down on the podium labeled 'Prey'. It hurt to lay it on that one but the pain was soon gone as the memories faded.
Thankfully for her, she could return to ignorant bliss for now.

The Goddess was gone, returned to her statue, and Rojand breathed a sigh of relief or disappointment.
He didn't want the dagger; he didn't want the memory of what he'd done. He didn't want to lose the memory he'd regained. He looked, guiltily and surreptitiously, but the way out had vanished. There was no choice, then. He dropped the dagger onto the Predator pedestal.
He could feel the memory seeping away, no matter how hard he tried to hang onto it.

Rae awoke with a startled sob, tear lines staining her pale grey face. Her fingers were clutching the dagger that she had not been able to use. She never wanted to see it again. Never.
Mustering what strength she could, Raedala pushed herself to her feet, setting the dagger down on the podium that read Prey.
Her heart ached and it was going to take some time to overcome that... Even with the relief of the other memories gone.

Tears were streaming down Ryjer's face as he awoke with a start, still clutching the dagger. He wasn't dead? Where was the Goddess? He wanted comfort, relief- what had... a dream? A terrible dream... all he could remember was the snip of scissors and the red hot pain of his heart being cut- his hand over his chest, he looked at the pedestals.
He wanted to be a predator. He wanted to be strong, confident, in control... but what he wanted, and what he was, clearly, were two different things.
With a touch of shame, he dropped his dagger onto the Prey podium.

Tsumi came too, the dagger still clutched in her hands. She had managed to do it but at what cost? She wasn't exactly sure. What was real and what was merely a test?
Trying not to dwell on it too long she moved back toward the goddess who was now just a statue and looked at the podiums sitting next to her. Prey or Predator. Well, she had managed to actually defeat the dark figure so carefully she placed the dagger on the podium of predator. As the dagger faded away so did the memory she had just regained until all she could remember was that she needed to collect her blessing.

Riot awakens startled and screams for a second before she realizes that she is back were the goddess was. Quickly she looks to her chest to find that her heart is still there and clutched make sure it stayed there. That calmed Riot down as she didn't want to lose it but she fell so very bad to have failed in her mind to become prey.
Prey
Yep she was prey and it was one thing she didn't like. Quickly she put her dagger on to the prey plaque. Then quickly and quietly she left feeling like a failure.

And so it ends. It was with that thought that Vettey found herself returned to the shrine, the memory of her heart ripped from her chest a painful echo as she instinctively lifted her hand to pat her chest a few times just to reassure herself that it was still there and with it the fact that she was still very much alive. Good god... that was painful and she really hoped that she wouldn't have to go through whatever led to that which she couldn't remember now again. Dropping her dagger onto the Prey pedestal, she took a shaky step forward and then another...

Leeshah opened her eyes again not sure were she was only to realize she was back at the place were she got her dagger. She didn't really remember what happened but her heart. It was taken? Or not? She looked at herself and was sure she still had it. "What happened?" but she didn't get a reply. She had to return the dagger now even if it didn't feel good at all. She carefully dropped her dagger at the Prey pedestal before shakily leaving. It seemed like every task was going worse. Even if she didn't remember much of them at all.

A gasping breath broke out when she woke up again, eyes widening and body jerking upward, soaking in the air as if it would never come around again. She shivered, and a hand went towards her chest, the warm reds thumping against her rib cage again. It was her heart, no one was allowed to have it. She may have been the prey, but she would no allow a predator get here again.
Clenching the knife, she brought it to the Prey pedestal, allowing it to be enveloped in it's warmth, watching it as it disappeared.
She would have her revenge.

Predator.
And prey.
The word left a sour taste in her mouth and made her feel... strangely hollow. She looked down at her heart... and gasped realizing it was still there.
But... how?
No. No questions. She had it. And gained something from this. Right?
Owl didn't linger long. She walked up to the Prey pedestal and returned her dagger. She didn't want the thing any longer.
As the dagger left her fingers, so did the memories of her encounter.
Except the pain.
She would remember the pain.

Having to give s**t up again.
The law of sacrifice.
Him or somebody else, sure, okay. Better them than him. But either way, the goddess got to reap the result.
He put the dagger grudgingly on the Predator pedestal.

Waking, Rein instinctively placed her had over her chest to feel where her heart had been removed. Though, she was shocked to discover it was still there. None the less, the experience was horrifying. She never wanted to go through that again.
Approaching the podiums, she read over both plaques, before setting her dagger down upon prey.
