Loa startled awake again, this time he was no longer being chased by... hm. What was he being chased by?! Did it even matter now? He shrugged and eyed his dagger. It was glowing a bright red still. He eyed the two plaques curiously. Prey or Predator? Was he one to be feasted upon, or one to feast? The answer became clear almost immediately. He refused to be prey.

He placed his dagger on the Predator plaque with confidence.

He knew this in his heart to be correct.

When she reentered the shrine, Wyng noted that her goddess had returned to rest, but not before leaving her instructions.

The Task is complete. Eat or be eaten, predator or prey. Return your Dagger to where it belongs.

Upon mention of the dagger she looks back down at the glowing red thing. Looking solemnly back to the statue, she then turns and examines the two pedestals. Though others had tried to hunt her before, she had never been prey, she was a carnivore and a predator through and through. Calmly, she placed the dagger on the pedestal and turned back to the goddess, seeking acknowledgment that she had done correctly.

She screamed.

Thump-thump.

Just to find her heart was still within her.

She struggled up and found her at the room where she began her second life. A sense of relief filled her up.

"My heart......it's still there....-" Then what was the figure she saw before, she was confused.

Renayk sat up, using her arms to support her body unsteadily. She needed more time to get out from the nightmare. One thing that she was grateful was that her heart was still throbbing.

She turned around, this time, no more creepy figure, just the three statues lying besides each other.

The plague of her statues wrote:

The Task is complete. Eat or be eaten, predator or prey. Return your Dagger to where it belongs.

She knew which one she should choose, she was defeated, by her own fear. She gave up in front of it. She slowly looked at the dagger one more time, she was given the weapon, but she didn't make good use of it. Sadly, she put it onto the Prey Podium.

When she opened her eyes, Lyzzi checked her chest to make sure that her heart was still there. She took a minute just to enjoy the fact that she still had her heart, eyes closed, hands pressed over her chest. When it was time to return the dagger, however, she felt nothing but frustration and embarrassment for her failure.

She was prey. She couldn't face her fears. She failed.

Putting the dagger down on the podium with the prey plaque, she walked away, a dull ache in her chest, the memory of her beating heart being torn out of her body fresh in her mind.

Ixb rose clutching at his chest. It wasn't a desperate cling but more of a desperate protection. He was still alive... still here.

The pale shade rose and glanced at the podium. He'd been the prey. He'd died.

"Scared.." he muttered. "Ran like a baby.." It was a hopeless sigh as he put his dagger on the Prey podium.

He held his head low, despite being successful, he felt he had lost too much. The goddess' words reminded him of the reason, but it was hard to justify what he had just done.

Moving slowly, he wiped his eyes before setting the dagger at the Predator pedestal before he took a sharp breath.

He felt strange, and like before, couldn't remember how exactly he got here. There had been something important he had done, something he did and saw, but like waking up after a dream, it was gone in a flash.

He touched his face and felt it was wet and cold, and confused, he looked to the goddess before walking away.

Freya dropped her dagger on the prey pedestal before she'd even read the plaques. This was where she'd belonged.

Where she would always belong.

She sucked in a deep breath as the memories left her, but the ache of emptiness in her heart remained. And somehow, that felt even worse.

As must as he could have fought, he was caught. Trapped. Cornered. He was done for and he knew it. Yet, he held the bejeweled dagger tight in his hands. He could feel the figment loom over him, two long, spindle appendages extending from it's blackened body as it reached for him. Touching his head, holding it still, he couldn't react. It speaks softly and that was all he heard before the snip. Falling down, Aeruban watched as it moved away with a red-heart in one hand and snipping scissors in the other.

Waking, he found himself lying upon the Shrine Floor where Ruin stood between two podiums. Her voice in his head to return what was given to where they belong. Looking at the dagger in his hand he turned to the podium that read "Prey" and returned what was given.

While leaving, he could not remove his hand from his chest...

Just as mysteriously as she found herself in that sterile white room, Hale found herself back where she had last spoken to the Goddess. Ah, well, it mattered not how she got here exactly…what mattered was where she was going. It was with a proud and confident stride that Hale placed her dagger on the predator podium.

She was no one’s prey.

Chaesel's face was red with shame and embarrassment. She'd been so convinced she was doing the right thing. She was so convinced that she could defeat whatever obstacles were thrown at her.

Looking the goddess in the eyes was impossible. It seemed that every moment more she spent in the goddess' hot gaze, the more she felt completely embarrassed. She was a sham. A total failure.

A disappointment.

It was the worst feeling.

As a dog dragging her tail between her legs, Chaesel placed her dagger on the prey pedestal. The words stung, biting her shame as a stinging, open wound. Sacrifice to the masses? More like failure to the masses.

Chaesel departed with the taste of vomit in her mouth.

Tiek returned, heavy hearted and confused. In his hand was the bright red dagger, as if it were soaked in blood. The Goddess had left and for some reason, he was not surprised. The plaque read: The Task is complete. Eat or be eaten, predator or prey. Return your Dagger to where it belongs .

Two podiums. Prey or Predator. Tiekash dropped the dagger upon the Predator podium.

Impah blinked as she woke, the dagger clutching at her chest the same way it had been when she woke in the room. This time there was no humming and her body was weak with fear and wariness.

Getting up, she doesn't hesitate to go to the podium.

Dropping the dagger on prey, she leaves it there without a second look back, rushing away from the shrine.

She strode with purpose. For the first time since her awakening, Rostym felt true self-confidence. Her journey had taught her a important lesson that she felt the goddess had meant to impart: that they all had to sacrifice in order to survive. To ascend.

Handling her dagger carefully, the shadow approached the Predator podium and offered the weapon back with a reverent bow. "Thank you for allowing me to learn," she said softly. She had faced fear and won; if there had been doubts of what and who she was, they lingered no longer.

Mylisp awoke with a start, the words leaving her lips before she knew she was saying them. "Wander wait!" She froze slightly as her eyes slowly tookin her surroundings. A dream?

She looked around the area in silence a moment before sighing. The shadow was gone. Her sister wasn't there anymore. Even with the pain she'd felt, feeling the point it had started from with her hand, she wanted to see her again. Ask her why she was so upset. There wasn't an answer though. "Hiding again?" She stated, the question to a figure that wouldn't hear it as she stood up. The statue had returned, the goddess herself gone now. Mylisp's eyes fell on it briefly before she wandered over to the podium before her and dropped the dagger. "Prey, cause I lost at tag." She stated, shrugging. "But I never got a chance to be it. So-" Tsk, what a poor game.

That was no fun at all. Though even as she started to walk away, she began to forget it all. The memories of her twin fading with each quick movement. She knew she'd been attacked... but why was it she wanted to see that thing again? Huh... Well... who knew.

It was a jolt, like lightning through a metal pole, which roused her and she jumped up, feeling at her chest and gasping with tears of joy at the corner of her eyes to find it had not been taken. It seemed to glow and dim and the attention and she held her hand over it protectively as she approached the Goddess Statue. Reading the plaques she stared at the dagger in hand.

It was a bitter feeling since she could feel she had come so very close to pleasing her goddess with victory. Even in failure she had completed something but it weighed on her internally. She had faltered at the last second as her memory had faded in and out. Was she just the slower at the attack or did somewhere inside she refuse to attack?

It wasn't something she wanted to find out and she looked at the pedestals before moving over towards one. Regardless of how it came to be, how things had come to pass, she was going to be useful wherever she ended up.

Still feeling hollow about being seemingly less important she tossed the dagger ungracefully onto the Prey Podium. Mel'ae stared at it for a moment longer before turning away from it, the harsh and sad memories fading away with each step she took away from it. Her hand never moved from her chest though. Something still might want it...
