Lieutenant Carnallite: 10

Carnallite maintained her flat expression but shrugged in answer to Bloodstone’s silent inquiry.

She wasn’t exactly thrilled about heading down the path, but she wasn’t against it either. Obviously some of them would have to if they had any intention of finding the missing Lieutenant before he went from simply “missing” to “missing, presumed dead.”

Or just straight up dead. That was probably still a possibility.

Carnallite began to head down the path with Bloodstone, walking at his side while there seemed to be enough room for them to do so.

“The General King doesn’t exactly inspire confidence,” she muttered.

Corrupt Sailor Cymophane: 4

It was true. Despite Cymophane’s bright smile and cheerful attitude, he wasn’t letting his guard down. He certainly noticed the General King’s shifting gaze, his distracted behavior, and the visible claw marks around the area. The fact that Axinite audibly admitted to his concerns would probably be alarming to anyone who didn’t boast Cymophane’s plucky demeanor.

Was Cymophane alarmed?

Maybe a little. Either way, it wasn’t enough to have him turning back.

“Who else would I stay with?” Cymophane asked, as teasing and bright as always.

Was that irony? The fact that he had such a dark outfit but was the bright-eyed, smiling one of the two of them, whereas Kamacite had the bright outfit but was generally the opposite?

“Unless you think I should be tagging along with my General, but I thought we already agreed to avoid the boyfriend.”

Not that said General and the boyfriend weren’t already making their way down the path ahead of them.

“Are we hanging behind a bit because we’re in the most danger as Senshi or because you don’t want the boyfriend to see you? How’d you get on his bad side anyway?” he asked, then gasped loudly and joked, “You didn’t flirt with Jet, did you? How bold of you! I didn’t think you were the type!”

---

General Aquamarine: 9 + 2

Aquamarine followed Jet with a staunch dutifulness he didn’t offer to anyone or anything else.

That didn’t mean he didn’t roll his eyes at the entire situation, fastening his earring into place as he did so. Making their way down the path side-by-side, Aquamarine made sure both his rapier and parrying dagger were at the ready.

You are not using these to lecture me about dumbass Senshi the second we put them on, Aquamarine thought back to Jet. Anyway, they’re not just beneficial when it comes to fighting the White Moon. We can throw them at whatever’s waiting for us down here, too.

The new earrings were convenient for private conversation, but not at all helpful to anyone else around them, particularly since Aquamarine chose to use them exclusively now that they were in place.

This way, he could say whatever the hell he wanted to Jet and not have to talk to anyone else.

Please tell me you didn’t miss Axinite being weird, he added. Or that he’s just sent all of us pawns in before him.

Lr. Peridot 5

"A pity this visit is babysat. I'd li9ke to understand this area betttewr." Peridot wasn't as taken by the danger and upset of the Rift, but it's nature was interesting, and she wished she knew how - or could - take measurements for her husband to explain the Rift to her in the language of mere muggles.

That claw, howevcer, drew focus from thought as she withdrew her weapon. The Embroidery band wasn't really a good weapon - flimsy, brittle - but not great, and she was considering a solid whack with it before sighing, raising a fopot, and attacking phyusically. Now THIS was unpleasant.

C. Sailor Ferris 1

Ferris was quiet. Not a normal state for her to be iun, Ferris was uncomfortable with herself. For a short bit she nibbled her snacks as she foillowed Cafetit, blinking owlishly until a massive claw.

It came as a surprise, and Ferris saalowly nodded to acknowledge hearing the lieutenant when it happened. Suddenly Ferris snapped to an anxious defense, visibly alarmed by the claw. Something just panicked and she wasn't entirely sure why, but she was beginning to hyperventilate and panic, raising her hands but not much otherwise for the moment as she closed her eyes and winced, waiting in terror. She.. SAhe knew she had to be stronger, but she was so afraid,,,,

Captain Sylvite: 8+1= 9

Sylvite perked up a little as they got closer to the coordinates. She could hear the voices of other people coming together. After all that wandering around, something was finally happening.

Maybe it wasn't something good, but hey. She'd take what she could get at this point.

When they got close, the first thing she noticed after Axinite was the sheer amount of claw marks that were criss-crossing the path nearby. She leaned in to investigate one, squinting at it for a few seconds and even running her pinky finger through the grooves. Yep, it was definitely a scratch, and definitely from something big.

"You think he got turned into a youma?" she whispered to Paracelsian before starting down the path.

Corrupt Eternal Cybele: 7+2=9

Cybele had gone stoic and focused, although she breathed a little easier as she saw a flash of pink when they reconvened. Sylvite had managed not to get lost, it seemed.

She took her own look at the area where they'd found themselves, although she gave the claw marks only a passing glance. That seemed standard issue in a place that was crawling with youma. Her gaze lingered on the high walls and the narrow entrance.

This place was easily defensible. This was something's lair.

"I have a feeling we're going to disturb something dangerous," she murmured, but her blank expression did not shift to anything more worried, and she made her way down the narrow path with the others.

Lieutenant Jadarite: 4

Jadarite had been a good, obedient little lieutenant throughout the search process to make up for her first impressions on the overly sensitive captains that she had apparently insulted earlier.

She was not sulking. No. She was simply walking along silently, doing what was asked of her and little more, as taking initiative could apparently be seen as stepping out of line.

It was much the same when they received the message and arrived on location. She gave the path a quick glance over, then continued.

Alpersite 7

Alpersite nodded. Of course he was going to stay close. Of course he wasn’t going to leave his General’s side unless...something happened that forced him to...and that wasn’t…a thought that he really wanted to have, all things considered.

Thus far...he...he wasn’t really…impressed with the Rift. It was...creepy. And it felt...rather awful. Heavy and...too spooky for comfort.

Thankfully...thankfully they were grouping up again. Thankfully they wouldn’t be just...wandering around in small groups...it was a small comfort, but it was a comfort all the same. He took Lopezite’s hand again and squeezed it as they walked back towards…people. “...If even...if even he isn’t saying that it’s safe...that...doesn’t really bode well for any of us...does it?”

His voice was quiet, but a little strained.

He was still...still weak. And he kind of hated it but…

There wasn’t much that could be done at the moment.

General Benitoite:7+2=9

Benitoite had gone into the rift with his small group, two generals, two corrupted senshi and a cat. He'd felt confident enough in the small group, even if three had targets painted on them. He was sure Arseno and himself could keep the other three safe - and they had. It hadn't been the easiest but they had managed, they were both generals and had earned their ranks.

When the call finally arrived a long time had passed, at least it felt like a long time had passed, and he was quick to head towards the energy signature which no doubt belonged to their General King. Motioning the others in their group to follow him - they needed to be moving there.

When they did arrive it was to news that something was beyond where the General King stood...something he no doubt couldn't handle on his own, for whatever reason, and it was up to them all to pitch in and handle whatever it was down the path and hidden by the darkness.

"If we go...we keep close. I'm not losing anyone." Not anyone who was with him - not anyone he was meant to protect.

Captain Rakovanite
Roll: 8 + 1 = 9

It was the first time he had ever ventured into the Rift. Though the place had been brought up on several occasions prior (by Wolframite, by Lopezite), it wasn't an area Rakovanite had ever felt compelled to explore.

And upon setting foot into the distorted, static-charged scape, he found that it was likely for the best.

It wasn't like anywhere he could compare it to on Earth. The landscape was rough and jagged, with fierce crackles of lightning that tore through the sky with such a viciousness that Rakovanite could feel them reverberating through his bones, wild energy bouncing off of everything it came into contact with. He'd never doubted the benefits of securing himself a personal youma, a monster he could command in battle, but scouring a place like this seemed... unwise.

"Stay on me," he commanded quietly, notching his head back toward the ragtag group that had entered alongside him:

His brother, of course. Rakovanite knew he couldn't allow Cervantite to wander unsupervised. But after Axinite's meeting, a few others had fallen into place beside him. Nobleite had joined him, the lieutenant Lashenite had deemed it necessary for Rakovanite to meet with for the purposes of counseling, to ensure he was well enough to continue serving. Rakovanite could guess that his reason for being here was likely to check on the mental well-being of whoever they found had been trapped in the Rift for so long. And Gremlin, the Mauvian Rakovanite's general frequently called on to conceal them.

He didn't know either well, and he wasn't sure they would be more help than liability, but they were here. He had to continue. It was just a lot for him to keep track of, even more so as they arrived at Axinite's meeting location, the entrance to a path shielded on all sides by towering cliff faces.

He wanted to point out that it should surely be Axinite who went in first. A General King could fend off anything that dove at them much better than a random assortment of variously-trained senshi and agents.

But so long as it wasn't Rakovanite and his group that took the first steps forward, he supposed it didn't matter who took point. As long as it wasn't the greatest risk to him.

---

Basic Cervantite
Roll: 10

Alright. Saving some basic-a** kid from the depths of some spooky alternate dimension. Let's go. Cervantite's expression was fierce but excited as he fell into step beside his older brother. He did wish Rakovanite would have a little more flare instead of being such a stick-in-the-mud, but that had always been his way.

Just as it had always been Ellian's way to keep at his heels and push for more and faster and excitement. Go, go, go. This kind of patience and restraint and wariness draaaaagged on him, and if they could just get to it already, they'd find adventure lying ahead. A handful of generals, and the General King, and a whole pile of others were out in the Rift already, so they had back-up if something went sour. It really seemed like they could stand to be a little bolder in the search, but Rakovanite kept them dutifully wrangled, and carefully away from anything that looked hazardous.

A real bore, for sure.

It felt like hours, truly hours of his heart thrumming in eager anticipation before Axinite summoned them to some more specific location. They'd seen and done literally almost nothing on their trip through the Rift, a huge let-down.

But all that was about to change. Cervantite could feel it. Others were gathered around the crags, what looked to be the whole group. So, even better as far as Cervantite was concerned. If something exciting was finally going to happen, they'd all be part of it. Maybe he'd get to see a sovereign in action. Maybe a huge youma would bust through the rocks with a caterwauling cry, and they'd team up and take it down.

And yeah, maybe that kid was somewhere in there, too.

Guess it'd be nice to find him.

---

Lieutenant Janggunite
Roll: 2

If anyone asked what he was doing here or what he brought to the table on an assignment like this, Janggunite would fully admit to having no idea. The situation put a certain anxious strain on him to perform and perform well (and maybe not sustain any grievous injuries or die n the process), but he could not even begin to fathom what that entailed. Most everyone else here probably had more experience in this types of powered situations than he did...

But his general had advised (in a way that seemed like it didn't leave much room for disagreement) that he should attend. If there was danger, the General King could keep him safe.

He should network with his fellow agents and gain experience in dealing with these kind of situations so they would not be so anxiety-inducing in the future. It was good for him, and he should not so easily dismiss an opportunity to work alongside others who could help him later. So Janggunite had gone. He'd joined a group as they prepared to head into the Rift. He'd stuck a strained smile on his face, even though he wasn't thrilled about being here or dealing with these strangers. And in they went.

It should've come as absolutely no surprise that a youma would be interested in exploring the Rift. Perhaps it was just more surprising to see a youma he was familiar with. Maikoh had found him at the meeting, and she hadn't left him. Even as he'd grouped up with other agents, she kept close to his side.

Her 'pup' she called him.

He had no idea why.

The whole experience was an absolutely exhausting one. Even in his more resilient powered body, he was starting to feel drained, and with that came a sort of headache that warned he was getting involved in too much. He needed to be careful not to stress and strain himself, and this assignment was the worst for that.

But eventually they received Axinite's message and came upon the towering cliff faces where he waited. Yep, something was in there. They had to do something to free this lieutenant who was somewhere in there...

Janggunite just wished it was done already.

---

Youma Maikoh
Roll: 4

Maikoh's tail swayed in rhythmic passes as her bright golden eyes gleamed in the dim purple glow of the Rift. Her home. The agents here had lost one of their own in the depths of her dwelling, and they intended to traverse this unwelcome landscape to find him.

The thought absolutely delighted her, probably far more than it should. So often youma were commanded to leave their own scape to aid agents to fights or to be disposable distractions against enemies, and many times the ones doing the commanding had never even set foot where the monsters dwelled. Today they would. Today would be a small reminder that her kind were not just there to be fodder. They were dangerous hunters and killers in their own right. It didn't matter if the target was a civilian, a senshi... or an agent.

Her new pup had joined her: a relatively inexperienced lieutenant who looked suitably discomforted by the situation.

"Keep your wits about you. Stay focused," she commanded him. "Even I will not be able to save you from every pitfall you may come across." She settled a heavy, clawed hand amidst the curly white hairs atop his head. "But I will try. Let's keep to your group."

Now that they were with Axinite and the majority of his underlings, they could move forward, but the crackling energy here made Maikoh feel a bit ill at ease, herself. She only ad to sniff the air to know that something was here. She could feel it in her bones that it was stronger than she was-

It made a snarl bubble in her throat, teeth immediately bared. An opportunity to prove herself. She was far from weak.

---

Lieutenant Nobleite
Roll: 10

It would never have been his choice to step foot here, but then, it wouldn't really have been his choice to be involved in any of this. The fact of the matter was that he couldn't really afford to refuse, when the Negaverse could target his civilian family: his daughter and his husband-

Ex-husband, he supposed.

So Nobleite followed behind his team for the assignment, resolute and silent. He had no particular knowledge of the Rift and no particular combat ability, but he was to go with Rakovanite, one of the agents he was tasked with seeing to the mental wellness of, and get to know him, watch him, see what kind of person he was.

And really all Nobleite had gathered was that he wasn't an especially friendly sort, but otherwise not unwell.

Rather, not unwell to the point of being unable to function. He still firmly held the belief that anyone in this organization was unwell in terms of functioning social ability. No one should want to be here, doing this willingly, when so many of their tasks seemed to involved hindering or outright hurting people who had never done anything to them. He didn't get it. He was not a fan.

But at least this assignment wasn't like that. For this, he could at least accept everyone's willingness to rally to find some poor boy who had been lost to their ranks. Nobleite hoped he was okay, but given where they were...

His gaze wandered over the tall crags, the gloomy landscape, the dangerous rumbles in the distance. He'd seen creatures prowling here that he knew he wouldn't be able to do anything against, so he thought it must be reasonable to assume that another lieutenant wouldn't be able to either. The General King had said he'd felt an aura, but Nobleite couldn't feel anything but the static in the air... No one could survive here, surely. This was a place of monsters.

---

Mauvian Gremlin
Roll: 5

"Filthy rat humans," Gremlin seethed as he hunkered himself down into the tall collar of Rakovanite's coat. "Got the audacity to wander around in the Rift and get lost so the rest of us have to work our asses of to find you. You lot are the worst." Shouldn't be his business to go chasing after people dumb enough to get themselves into a bad situation, but here he was, traversing these cursed lands with a disgusting agent.

Really, his kind had no business being in the Rift at all, for any reason. If a youma caught him alone, it'd tear him to shreds no matter who Gremlin allied with.

But there was a chance his abilities could keep them safe, even here. Youma could still see and smell them, but if they were discrete, Gremlin could conceal even a group of this size from being felt and targeted. He had no idea if that was true or how useful it was when no one was going out of their way to hide, but he'd been promised a steak if he returned.

Maybe he should've thought more about that "if he returned" part.

So he'd just have to keep himself secure to the strongest in their squad, and hope he didn't go down. Rakovanite seemed like he probably wouldn't risk his own life for anyone else in the group, so as long as he wasn't jumping in front of any youma attacks, maybe they'd be okay. Though Gremlin still wasn't pleased about any of this situation or anything they were doing here. He'd definitely prefer to be closer to Axinite, and he didn't feel super enthused when the general king sent everyone ahead without him.

He tucked his nose against Rakovanite's neck and hissed a quiet dissent, "Look, just don't do anything stupid so I can get out of here in one piece, alright? If you keep me safe you won't have to worry about me clawing your eyes out later."

Basic Calaverite
The agents Calaverite had been stuck with for the initial exploration of the Rift were not very talkative or fun. They kept to the task at hand, with one of them being sure to keep close to Cala to ward youma away from him, while the other focused a bit more on searching for clues to the whereabouts of the missing lieutenant.

The issue was that Cala didn't care about a missing lieutenant, so he could hardly be bothered to look. He was more interested in the Rift itself, and taking in everything he could while he was here. His opportunities to travel here were so limited (presumably because the creatures that inhabited this plane would attack and maul him on sight- completely unfair, as far as Cala understood it), so he had to make the most of it while he could, and that really didn't involve searching for some idiot agent who'd gotten himself stuck here.

But the agents were scaring most of the creatures away before Calaverite could so much as see them properly, let alone try to talk to them or touch them...

And it was impossible to tell how long it had been until Axinite sent everyone's tablet a ping to his location, but it didn't feel long enough to Cala. He was out here trying to make friends with all the monsters, and everyone was so freaking intent on just ruining it. Didn't anyone care what he wanted?

He puffed in belligerent distress as he and his agent escorts headed off toward the General King's location.

By the time they arrived, dozens of others had already filtered in and were standing around, staring up at tall, reaching cliff faces that bordered a narrow pathway. Axinite seemed like he was going to wait outside to direct any stragglers, but since everyone else was all here, Cala didn't see any reason why he shouldn't move forward? It was better than waiting around for something to happen, and any exploring was good exploring, even down treacherous pathways.

General Lopezite 3+2=5

Lopezite didn't much care for the cramped space and he found a shiver running down his spine as the walls felt like they were closing in around them. He knew it had to be in his head; the people in front of he and Alpersite moved no differently than they had when they'd first entered, so he could only assume that the path was the same width now as it was when it first began.

Still, it was uncomfortable, and difficult to focus as he walked. He made sure to keep his eyes on the group in front of them and took note of the area as they walked. He stayed close to Alpersite so he could make sure he was protected. There was still a large group, and while Lopezite didn't seem to know most of the people there, he knew that he was prepared to aid in whatever way he could.
PostPosted: Thu Mar 04, 2021 12:44 pm

Axinite sent Taenite an exasperated look. “Just be careful,” he warned, like he didn’t have time or energy to argue. He lingered in the back as the rest of the group proceeded, keeping an eye on them to make sure that no one wandered too far ahead alone. Satisfied that they seemed to have made a good grouping, he finally exhaled and began to follow.

As they walked deeper down the narrow path, one thing was incredibly clear--whatever had caused the scratches on the wall outside had been in here, too. The claw marks appeared in a set of four symmetrical lines, easily three inches deep and three feet long.

Gismondine (8 ), if he stood still for long enough, or was sensitive enough on his feet, may have noticed there was a strange rumbling underfoot, and an odd reverberation beneath each step that gave the distinct impression of vibrations underground.

Mirzam, Sylvite, Cybele, Bellite, Rakovanite, and Benitoite (9) may have noticed that the crystal sheen that covered the walls was not only incredibly slippery but, when pressure was applied, the crystals seemed to harden--and grow a bit beneath their touch.

Jet, Aquamarine, Carnallite, Cleeia, Diesel and Nobelite (10) may have noticed that there are dark, oil slick black puddles that seem to imply something was pooling on the way out. The black liquid smells foul and is difficult to see, but some of it seems to be smeared along the wall, almost as if something wet had leaned against it at one point in time; it is roughly at chest level and feels oddly grainy if touched.

The path was fairly straight forward; the deeper they traveled, the thicker the crystals covering the walls became. It was only a moment after they’d worked their way down the path that a painfully loud crackle of energy seemed to explode above them, and something moved behind them.

The sound of metal clanging and a sharp cry was heard, and then the overwhelming sound of the ground crumbling.

Jet and Aquamarine (10+) may have also noticed, if they turned quickly enough, the shape of some great behemoth slamming a fist into each wall, and then balling its fists to come down on the group. Axinite had deflected the blow, but the ground beneath him was unsteady and the brittle rock beneath him and fractured and crumbled and swallowed him whole.

In another blinding flash of electric energy, whatever figure they had seen was gone--and the energy signature of the General King seemed to grow distant beneath them.

The sound of rocks splintering echoed throughout the passageway; the blows to the walls caused a few large chunks to break loose--and they were falling towards the group.

Quote:
Something has attacked! General King Axinite has disappeared from sight, but the more pressuring issue is the wall of rocks hurling towards the group. There’s no telling how stable the ground is, or where the rocks will land: your goal is to continue forward and find Lieutenant Feldspar, but there’s nothing stopping you from turning around--unless, of course, you’re afraid of finding out where Axinite went--and what made that giant hole in the ground.

Captain Bloodstone

Bloodstone walked beside Carnallite while he could, but he didn’t respond to her comment about the General King, even if he agreed.

There were others, and Metallia was always watching and listening, or so they were told. He’d never had the opportunity to experience her presence himself, but there was a reason the Negaverse was held together by… the band of misfits they were.

Somehow he didn’t catch what was going on, distracted by the feel of the ground rumbling beneath them, and then rocks tumbling down. He quickly moved forward in an attempt to get out of the way of the falling rocks, only casting a glance over his shoulder to make sure Carnallite was behind him.

The General King’s aura growing distant was a little troubling, but they would have to figure out a way through the rocks before anything else.

Corrupt Eternal Kamacite

Avoid the boyfriend indeed. Kamacite continued to frown as they made their way through the passage, but he was a little relieved to see that others were quickly making their way through as well.

Kamacite made a face when Cymophane asked if he’d flirted with General Jet, and then shook his head. He had absolutely no interest in the General. It probably didn’t help that he’d had no real interaction with him, so he didn’t know anything about him other than he was the blond General’s boyfriend, or something.

“The boyfriend probably just feels threatened because it took him years to be prompted to General when it only took me one to become an Eternal Senshi,” he shrugged, annoyed that he’d bothered to help the blond General at all during the time they’d been stuck in that cellar together.

Unfortunately, Kamacite was unable to go into more detail about his dealings with the boyfriend for the moment, since apparently something big caused the ground to shift and rocks to start falling. He quickly threw an arm over his head for protection, and grabbed Cymophane’s arm in his panic to drag him out of danger.

He realized Cymophane was perfectly capable of running, himself, but he was nervous about his friend being hurt.

General Jet

Jet drew in a long suffering, very audible breath as Aquamarine started nagging at him about how he wanted to use the earrings to communicate. The exhale he let out was much quicker, but laced with restrained annoyance. He really didn’t want to get into an argument in the middle of the Rift, but he also didn’t think it was the best idea to try and use the senshi as bait.

What have you got against Axinite? He’s helping us, isn’t he? Would you rather go to one of the other General Sovereigns? Jet thought to Aquamarine again as they continued down the path, although he paused to cover his mouth and nose at the smell of something unpleasant.

Oil?

The sudden shape of a creature that slammed its fists down on them-- didn’t make an impact. Instead, Jet caught how Axinite had blocked the attack… before the ground crumbled and he fell.

“What the hell was that??” Jet shouted in surprise, unsure if he should look for whatever creature suddenly seemed to disappear or figure out where the General King went. It happened too fast even for him, but he was grateful for Axinite’s speed… until he disappeared…

s**t,” he hissed, avoiding the rocks as best he could, while waiting for the others to make their way through the path.

Corrupted Sailor Taenite

Taenite had winked at the General King once again to show him he was definitely going to be careful. Careful to follow Axinite and make sure he wasn’t out in the open by himself for youma bait.

But then rocks fell and everyone died.

Okay, maybe not everyone. Or anyone. Yet. It happened so suddenly that Taenite didn’t even see where Axinite went. Should he jump into the hole to try and dig him out? Was no one else going to try and help? Okay, well, there were also falling rocks everywhere, so maybe they should get out of the way of that first.

“So, is anyone else concerned that the General King just got eaten by the ground? No? We’re going to rescue him too, right?” Well, Taenite was concerned at least.
