Rural Adventures! -[Solo- Special]- Farm Girl's Dream Why Sue forgoes Warrior Training
Sueno was now old enough to look about her and realize what she wanted in life. Other than being with her family forever, she wanted to stay on the farm. Something about it just made her feel so happy and calm. She knew that there was stress involved of course! After all, she'd seen her parents fretting over prices of food, seeds, storms coming and wrecking the crops, animals eating them. Farmers had to worry about so many things! But it was calming still. Working the earth, seeing plants grown, and then eating the products of her work. But she also loved animals. She loved to tame them, be with them, and pet them. Watching the neighbors who had a ranch train their animals had lit a spark in her. She also wanted to do that! It was like making friends! Looking up from where she was weeding in her garden, she saw Videe, her vlidean pet, pouncing on the weeds she was tossing away. It had been fun when Sameal and she had tamed him. Her parents hadn't been very happy about it, but she'd pleaded and begged until they said they'd let him live here for a bit to see how it worked out. She smiled at the memory. She'd made Videe a nest above the hay in the barn. While young, she wanted to keep him, and one way to convince her parents was to make Videe useful! Videe was quite the hunter, and they had a problem with Silx in this barn. Or rather, had. Videe had done exactly what she'd hoped: he'd gone hunting and now the barn was quite clear of pests! The sudden drop in thefts of items and food that the Silx had been perpetrating had made him welcome in her home. So he was noisy some days... but the fact that he stayed with Sueno whens he was in the fields and always cried an alert when a creature came near? Well, that endeared him to the family. He wasn't trained, but he was loyal to Sueno and wouldn't let anything dangerous near her. I want to do that too, she thought as she chucked a weed at him, making him pounce upon it and tear it to shreds. That was fun! But I want to farm as well. Is it okay to do both? The whole reason she was thinking on this was because a friend from Hot Springs Village, the nearest town to her farm, had told her she was going to be an archer and do great deeds. Sueno had thought that's nice. But didn't want great deeds. She wanted the peace and quiet of the farm. Healing, helping, and training animals as well as farming. "Ah dinna wanna hurt people, Videe. Ah just want to live here peaceful like." She said to Videe who looked at her and squawked before goig back to hunting for worms. Sueno looked out from her tiny garden and smiled. Why go out and kill things when you could stay here and make things grow? Help life to live instead of taking it. Yeah, I don't want to be a warrior, I'll stay here and farm and tame animals! words: 537

Rural Adventures! -[Solo- Special]- The Farmer's Path Learning more about her Farming path
Her brother was gone yet again. Sueno sat in her father’s lap huffily as he rocked in his chair. Why was Dyn-dyn leaving her behind so much? She wanted to be with her big brother! Veran patted Sueno on the head. He wasn’t any more pleased by it than her! Madryn was supposed to be here, learning how to run the farm, not out there fighting dragons! Now it was an honorable job yes, but still! This was the family farm! He sighed out loud. Sueno looked up at her father as she snuggled in for hugs. “Pa, can ye tell me more about farming?” She asked, it always put Pa in a good mood when he talked about how to run the farm! Plus Sueno got to learn things that she could use for her garden! “Now that Ah have a bigger garden, Ah’m gonna be a-planting non-flowers in it.” She said with a smile. Veran chuckled and fluffed her hair. “Yer such a wee lil lass, why’re ye doin’ so much?” He asked fondly, he was quite proud of how his little girl loved the earth and farm. “Oh all right, Ah guess Ah can tell ye some stuff to help you! Hmmm, first thing Ah guess is about rotation.” Sueno looked up at him with a question in her eyes. “Rotation; the land gets tired after a while if you only plant the same types of plants in it! So you have to change it up year to year to keep the land healthy.” He smile down at her, “Plant tall corn one year, beans the next, and then squash and then ye let it rest a year.” “Oh, is that why ye have the fields in blocks of four?”“Yup. When Ah was a kid, the farm a day’s travel from here decided that lettin’ the field rest and rotating crops was wasting his time and land… then the land gave out on him after a few years!” He chuckled, “All things get tired Sue, so ye have to let them rest every now and then! And lettin’ the land sleep in winter doesn’t count!” Seuno nodded sagely as she committed that to memory. “Then Ah should do tah same fer mah garden! What do ye suggest I put in? Ah was gonna put in an Apple tree and some flowers along tah border, but wanted to plant somethin’ else too.”Veran chuckled as he stood up with Sueno in his arms as Sueno’s mother called out that it was time for dinner. “Why not some tahmaters? We can always use more of those! Yer Ma doesn’t seem to have the knack fer growin’ them though!” “I can’t do what?” Liopa asked sweetly as she stood in the archway to the dinning room. “Growin’ tahmaters!” Sueno giggled mischievously as Veran put an innocent look on his face. “Nonsense! Yer mother’s good at many things! How can ye say such a thing Sueno?” “Ah didn’t say it Pa! You did!”

Rural Adventures! -[Solo- Special]- The Tamer's Path Learning more about her secondary Path of Taming
Sueno had finally sat her parents down and told them what she wanted to do with her life. The only problem was, they’d patted her on the head like she was a child (which she was) and said that’s nice before going out to the fields. Sueno fumed for the rest of the week. Here she was trying to tell them what she wanted to do with her life! Sure she was little and had many years in front of her, but she knew what she wanted! It wasn’t going o change anytime soon, she felt too much of a connection to farming to do that! Maybe it’d been the taming that’d made them think she wasn’t serious? Looking over at Videe where he was stalking some small creature in the fields, she smiled. I will simply have treat this seriously and prove to them that I mean it! She wanted to work on the farm, of course, but she also wanted to tame on the side. Maybe have a small ranch added onto the farm when she got older? Not Hastars though. Their neighbor raised and trained Hastars and she didn’t want to intrude on their business. Maybe they’ll help me learn? Happy to have a path that would help her convince her parents that she was serious about her small ranch and farm idea, Sueno walked with Videe to the neighbors farmhouse after finishing her chores and leaving a note saying she was at the neighbors. Fillarin, the owner of the ranch, was enthusiastic about her idea of adding on a non-Hastar ranch. “Maybe ye should think of raising some Leklans or Sheron’s! Be nice to have someone raise more of those around here." “What’re those?,” Sueno asked curiously. “Come and see,” the owner of the Ranch, a tall slim Orderite with shockingly bright blue hair and wings said. He took her out to a fenced in field and pointed at the huge beasts in it. “The Sheron’s are those huge blocks of meat out there. The females have thick sweet milk, but we mostly raise them fer food and to help pull the plows. The Leklan’s are the huge balls of wool. They are really good fer their wool. We want to raise them, but frankly, there’s not enough space! Our Hastar’s are our main source of income, and they need a lot of space. Plus they’re intelligent, which the Leklan and Sheron aren’t.” He shook his head. “After working with smart beasts, the stupid ones make you want to kill and eat them all the faster!”Sueno giggled and held out a hand to the tall Leklan that came over to visit. “ Fluffy!” “Yup, that they are. Only reason I haven’t killed and eaten the dumb beast! Tell ye what Sue. We’ll hold these guys till ye are old enough, then once you get land fer them, we’ll give them to ye to start yer own ranch!” She looked at him with wide shining eyes. “Really?! Ye mean it?”“Sure do! Though Ah’ll want a discount on my future purchases!” He said with a laugh and a wink at her. Sue bounced excitedly up and down and gave him a big hug. “Ye got it! Ah’ll make a good ranch fer them! Plus a building fer non farm animals!”“Oh?” He looked at her curiously. She grinned and held out her arms to Videe who clambered into them and snuggled down to take a nap. “Yup! Videe here is but tah first! He’s not trained, but he’ll keep watch over me and catch any Silx that enter tah barn where he nests. Ah wanna try taming other things too! Maybe a companion fer mah brother to keep him company on his hunts!” He smiled and patted head. “That, young ‘un, is a good goal. Have ye told yer parent’s yet?”“Yeah, but they just patted me on the head and said that’s nice! They dinna take me seriously!” She pouted a bit as he chuckled. “Well, they’ll have to take ye seriously after this! Ah’ll tell them myself too! Having a rancher neighbor will be a good thing! Plus ye have a bit more land available to ye as well. Why don’t Ah take ye home and talk to yer folks? That way we can set up a time where ye come and Ah show ye how to calm, care, and raise an animal!”Sueno agreed, why shouldn’t she? This was perfect! She’d get some gardening in, and get training in to start her dream! Her parent’s were rather shocked at the announcement, but they agreed to it after thinking on it for a while. It would be a good thing to have a small ranch next to the farm! Madryn could have the farm and Suneo a ranch! Sueno kept quiet at this; she knew her big brother didn’t want the farm, but no sense in telling them that for now! Wait until the got used to him being a warrior and Sueno being at the farm. And if them being ignorant of the fact meant they helped her with her dream? Well, ignorance was bliss after all! The rancher, Fillarin, winked at her. He had a good idea what was happening!

Rural Adventures! -[Solo- Special]- Lessons with Fillarin Fillarin is her Taming 'Master/Teacher.'
Sueno trotted down the rough road to her neighbor’s ranch for her first official day of lessons. She was super excited, not only was she getting training for her future dream of being a rancher or tamer, but she didn’t have to go to the village school anymore! Her parents had in fact decided that they would teach her book learning and math at home and, instead of school, would go to the ranch. This had its ups and downs. No more homework and boring lectures, but also no more time with her village friends. Oh well, she thought with a shrug, I’ll just have to make time to go into town and play with them! She skipped along until she reached the homestead and knocked on the door. The sun was now fully over the horizon and warming the chilly autumn day up. She grinned up at Fillarin who opened the door. “Mornin’ Mista Fill!”“Mornin’ Sue. Yer here bright and early!” He said with a grin as he let her inside. “Ah just finished breakfast an was gonna head out to the barn.”“Hehe! I finished breakfast a while ago, Pa said Ah should git here early cause that’s when ye do important stuff.” Sueno trotted inside ad said hello to Fillarin’s wife and two son’s. “We do indeed do important things early Ah suppose! Mostly milking and feeding. D’ye know how to do that Sue?” He asked as he pulled on his boots and grabbed a jacket. “ Nope! Pa usually does tah feeding of our two Hastars. He says Ah’m too small.” Oran, the eldest son and an adult himself, chuckled. “He's right about that! Ye can watch fer now, but a wee bitty thing like ye will get stepped on!” Sueno stuck her tongue out at him as she crossed her arms over her chest. “Ah kin still learn how to do it! Right, Mista Fill?” She looked up at him with wide innocent eyes. “Of course ye can! The Sheron aren’t that bad so Ah’ll teach ye how tah milk them!” She grinned triumphantly at ran, “See? ‘Sides, how am Ah supposed tah learn iffn Ah don’t do it?” Fillarin laughed and fluffed her hair. “That’s the right attitude to have Sueno! Ye keep that mind set and ye’ll do just fine.” Sueno spent the day at Fillarin’s side, learning what animals liked to eat what, what their body language meant, and how to brush and milk them. He told her that in the future, he’d teach her how to recognize illnesses, when they’re hurt, and how to actually handle them. As of right now, she was too young to learn that, but eventually he would tell her all the rancher’s tips and secrets to understanding and keeping the animals under control. It was around noon when Sueno headed back to her home to help her parents out with field work and to tend to her own garden. She animatedly told her family what she’d learned and her plans for the future over dinner that night. Her dream of attaching a small ranch to the farm was getting ever closer!

Rural Adventures!-[Solo- Tamingsl]- [ Early Morning Attepmt ] [ Late Evening Try] Attempts and Fails at 2 Vlidean Tameings.Well, today was really long. First I get up really early to go try and catch a Vlidean. But that fails cause Videe and it tried to fight, and then I sneak out this evening to try again. But no, I had to find a big colony of them! I can't try to capture one from that huge group! I marked it with a little cairn so I can go back with someone later and try. Maybe Sameal will distract them for me while I raid a nest or two....

Rural Adventures! -[Solo-Special]- Baby Dragons!
Sueno looked down at the nest full of oddly colored orbs that looked like eggs. Five in total, they all had different markings and had been found in different places. She smiled as she reached out to pick them up one by one. This blue and green orb she’d found in a cave nearby while she was looking for flowers and seeding plants to put in her garden. This red stripped white egg she’d found on the porch like someone had left it there as a gift. The dull pale green with smoky purple swirls her father had found. Her brother had given her the shimmering pale ice white egg and the last dark brown and red egg had been given to her by a stable hand at the Ranch where she learned how to care for animals. She grinned. A nest of unknown creatures that were all hers to raise! Well, Pa was going to raise the one he’d found. She approved of this, it meant that maybe Pa would come to understand why she loved to take care of animals. For the next few weeks she and her father took turns making sure the nest stayed warm, rotating the eggs, and waiting for them to hatch. The first to hatch was the blue and green egg; Sueno was on hand for this one and she cooed with delight when she saw the tiny not quite dragon stagger out of the broken egg. Sueno scooped up the newborn and gently washed away the egg gunk as her father ran to the kitchen to grab some meat. “It’s a dragon… so meat?” He asked as he came back with a small bowl of chopped up bits. Sueno nodded as she grabbed a chunk and offered it to the small keening beast. She giggled as the dragonling nipped her fingers lightly as it greedily grabbed the meat. After the small creature had eaten, it looked up at Sueno cheeped happily before curling up in her lap to fall asleep. The other eggs hatched the next day, and Sueno and her father both had their hands full keeping them fed! Liopa, her mother, showed Sueno how to tell the gender; they were very much like Fekerats and had similar builds. Sueno was glad it was winter and she didn’t have to go to the Ranch for lessons right now. It allowed her to spend time with her baby dragonlings, or Fae Dragons as her father called them. They had quick minds, but tended to be quite loud and way too curious. After one too many items broke from their curious poking about, Liopa banished them from the house to the small coop Sueno had built with her father. Over the winter, Sueno fed and talked to them, spending time with all of them. Anytime one of the Fae dragons did a task for her, she rewarded them with praise and food, hoping to reinforce good habits and maybe get them trained slightly. Her teacher Fillarin stopped by to give her some tips, claiming that this was an excellent way to learn about raising small creatures. Sometimes she got too upset and cried as they caused chaos and didn’t listen to her. Other times they were the sweetest little things ever. Her father’s Fea Dragon, Mishka, was the most well behaved and trained. Sueno pouted and asked why her father got his under control so much faster than she had. “Cause Ah had ye to raise!” He responded with a laugh. By spring time, they were the size of a Fekerat and it looked like they were not growing any more. Sueno had managed to get them slightly under control though all except Mishka had yet to learn how to do any real task. Now Sueno started to try and get them to take messages from the coop to the house… not that it worked as half the time they wandered off. It wasn’t until the others saw Mishka do it (and get rewarded) that they started trying to copy her. The largest, loudest, and most wild of her dragonlings, the fiery Mourlor, got the idea first. He also seemed to be learning from Videe… who got along nicely with the others, much to Sueno’s surprise. She soon saw that they each had their own personality and each liked to do different things. The blue girl who had hatched first she called Nesha. Nesha was lazy and did not like following orders at all. The smallest one was Silar, the white with red striped male. He was the tamest and had the sweetest voice. Because he was so clam and did not annoy her mother, Silar was one of the few allowed inside the house unattended. The shimmering white and ice blue male her brother’s egg had hatched into she called Lolak. He was protective and preferred to stick by her side. He also seemed to learn how to help her the fastest. Mourlor was the largest and loudest, his attitude matching his volcanic coloring. Mourlor only ever helped out when he knew there was food to be had. Otherwise he stuck with Videe and was loud and obnoxious. The last of the eggs, Mishka, was her father’s. Mishka was the only one who did actively help out on the farm. She carried messages and did the simple tasks Veran, Sue’s father, asked her to do. words: 903
