I'm Magical!
She was magic.
Not in a ‘these scones or magic’ or ‘you’re rather magical Anelie’ sense. No, actually magic. Wizards, warlocks and witches type magic. Complete with starseeds, magical Moon Kingdoms, jumping buildings in a single bound and much more – a lot of which she couldn’t quite remember anymore. Well, there had been a lot of information to take in.
She could transform into another version of herself; one that could run and jump and save the innocent.
Anelie sat on her bed in a room dominated by posters of wolves, horses, tigers, kittens and every other animal you could think of. With her nightie on and a blanket around her shoulders, she rested cross-legged against her pillows and turned the henshin pen she had been given over and over.
It was all hers!
Anelie giggled.
So what was she going to do now?
Well, she’d do exactly what she’d said she’d do to the magical cat! She’d help save the universe, fight the bad guys, stop people from littering, help all the kitties stuck in trees. Good stuff like that!
The magic cat had chosen well. Anelie would do her very best as Sailor Chibi Aludra.
With a pleased sigh, she put the pen away and slipped off the bed. With bare feet she made her way downstairs, peeking around the corner at her parents watching tv.
As if sending her daughter’s presence, Margaret turned around. “What are you doing without slippers on?”
“I’m just getting some milk.”
“With no slippers?”
“I forgot.” Anelie walked over, leaning over the back of the couch to kiss her mothers cheek. “Hey mama. Do you think I’m magical?” She gave her most innocent smile.
Her mother laughed. “Of course sweetie.”
Anelie kissed her mother a second time and then left for the kitchen, collecting herself a glass of water and (secretly) a chocolate-chip cookie. She paused beside the couch again and watched for a moment as someone got their 50,000 dollar question wrong.
“Mama, I’m going over to friend’s house after school for a bit tomorrow. So I might be home a little late.”
“No problem sweetie. You call me if you need a lift home, okay? Just be careful.”
Anelie nodded and left, walking back upstairs and settling her back on the bed. That had been a bit of a lie. She didn’t intend to go to anyone’s house and she was glad her mother hadn’t asked for a name. No, she had senshi business to get to work on.
Patrolling for evil!
The park, she thought, would make the perfect start.
That was where she would be awakened and that was the place she was claiming as a senshi. It was her territory and she would defend it from the forces of darkness!
The young girl finished her milk and cookie, wiped away the froth from her upper lip and brushed cookies from her bed, then slipped under the covers. She’d need a good sleep if she was going to be ready tomorrow.
She flicked off the light and closed her eyes, falling asleep with a smile.
Innocent and unaware of the trials she would face in the days ahead.
