Everything had been going fine. She had met some fellow Senshi, saved some animals in need, gotten a cat out of a tree and had even helped an old lady across the street. If asked, Aludra would have said she was a natural as this Sailor Scout business.
That was until she had met an actual enemy.
It was night, with the moon covered in clouds and Aludra was crouched down an alleyway between two houses, her breath coming in short gasps. She had escaped it for the moment and had hidden herself away in the shadows while she desperately thought of a plan.
She could feel the youma stalking her even now. It had simply seemed to appear out of the earth, a mass of clawed hands and oozing tentacles. Nobody had told her about this. Fight evil? Yeah, sure, great. Fight monsters? No thanks.
She had tried at first but her abilities had been useless. All she’d done was get it to follow her.
Slitted golden eyes appeared at the end of the alley and Aludra smothered a whimper. What was she supposed to do now?

Everything had not been going fine. It seemed that whether she was spending her days as a twelve year old attending school or her nights as a senshi patrolling the streets, nothing was going how she wanted it to. Trying to avoid the worse of two situations, Hypnos took up to the streets with her net. Maybe she couldn't solve her own problems but perhaps she could solve the problems of someone in need.
Aludra might have been followed by a youma but that youma was being tailed by Hypnos. She must have been a minute behind its trail, tops, and she hoped she got there before anything terrible happened.

What were her options? If she stayed here it was going to find her. But she didn’t want to leap into the surrounding backyards and put any civilians at risk. They were all tucked up safe in bed and she wanted to leave them that way, even if all she wanted to do right now was run to an adult screaming. So much for beating up the bad guys on her own. That only left running again. She would make a break for it. She was, after all, very fast. If she made it the end of the alley, she could escape. All she had to do was convince her legs it was a good idea. Aludra sunk back into the darkness; one hand tugging her hood further down her face, if that would help hide her. On three we run. One, two…The youma charged.

Hypnos caught the rear end of the youma as it began charging, her bunny slippers sliding to a stop as she caught sight of red down the alley and a familiar power signature of another chibi senshi. Immediately she feared the worst, spinning her slippers around and following the youma. If there was a chibi senshi at the end of this alley then she had to stop the youma from getting to them!
"Please stop!" She called out, throwing the her net at the youma. It hindered the movements of the youma a bit but it didn't stop it entirely. No, it took Hypnos grabbing the end of the net and pulling it and the youma's head back to finally get it to stop charging down the alley. It was fighting her fiercely though, making an absolutely dreadful sound that broke Hypnos' heart. She felt bad but this was the only way.
"Is someone down there?" She called out, throwing some sleep dust over the youma to calm it down some. She didn't look up, watching the youma go from struggling fiercely to struggling mildly to finally settling down all together. It's breathing was much calmer but she kept her eyes on it just in case.

A hooded head peeked out of its hiding spot. Aludra had heard the struggle and had remained right where she was, hands clamped ineffectually over her ears. It made such a horrible sound. Now she moved out into view, taking in the scene with wide eyes. Inching forward, Aludra’s expression, as she stared at other Chibi, shifted from wary to relief. "Thank you for saving me! I was kinda getting a bit worried there…" She eyed the Youma, making sure to keep well out of range if it suddenly decided to get up again.

Hypnos' eyes never left the youma for a second, not even when Aludra thanked her. She was worried. If she had been just a couple seconds later, this could have been a completely different scene. It wasn't what happened but Hypnos felt like she could do better. She had to up her time. She had work harder, better, faster and stronger to improve things.
"You're welcome," she said with a soft smile, turning her head to look at Aludra for a second before they flew back to the youma. It meant a lot to her that she was being thanked but the youma was still a danger here. She didn't want anyone to get hurt. Not Aludra, not herself and not even the youma. She had to get the senshi away before the scales shifted.
"Let's leave before it comes to its senses," she said, making the first move to leave.

"Good idea." Now she had two options, walk around the youma or jump over it. She went with jumping and her leap carried her well past the creature, where she landed neatly at the start of the alley. There she paused, looking between the youma and the senshi, biting her lip uncertainly. "It won’t hurt anyone if we just leave it, will it? Should we do something to... you know..." She didn’t finish the sentence, but she knew the other girl would understand.

Hypnos notably flinched when the other chibi mentioned about doing something about the youma she had trapped in the net. What the other chibi senshi wanted to do with the youma was not something that went unnoticed by Hypnos and she wrapped her arms about her body in an uncomfortable manner. Even this new chibi senshi wanted to kill them? She felt so alone in a world where no one shared her feelings or seemed to care at all.
"You want to be a murderer?" She asked hesitantly. "We're senshi, we can protect people without doing that."

A murderer? Aludra frowned and crossed her arms defensively. "No," she said quickly, "of course not." She chewed on her lip again, staring at the youma. "But it’s not… I mean…" She shrugged helplessly. It was time to get some straight answers about what exactly Senshi were supposed to be doing. "What is it exactly? It’s a bad thing, right? A demon? It’s not really a person or an animal. If we leave it alone, won’t it hurt someone else anyway?" She gripped her arms tightly and gave a small but hopeful smile? "Or have we done enough? Because I don't really want to hurt anything."

What was it exactly? Hypnos wasn't entirely sure on that but the one youma that could tell her told her that he was human. It was an unusual circumstance but how could she just risk it? What if more were like that? Maybe they just couldn't tell her. They were hungry and their food source was very limited. For the most part they didn't know any better. For the most part that put them ahead of many people who did bad things. Unlike the youma, the people who did bad things knew they were doing bad things.
"They're... creatures," she said, not feeling satisfied with saying they were anything else at the moment. One special circumstance did not speak for others but it did not change how she felt on the matter. She could reason simply killing something because it was hungry and went after its only food supply, could she? Unlike her, it didn't have a choice to not eat meat.
"People do bad things all the time. Should we murder them? This should be enough," she said, looking at the youma under the net.
She wished she had a better solution for it but at the moment she was severely lacking one. She was able to temporarily disable them but she didn't have anything on a more permanent basis that could stop them from hurting people while not hurting them. Surely there was some solution, somewhere out there?
"It'll go home soon."
At least she was confident in that. Bazzite had told her that staying on the surface was hard and eventually they had to return. Maybe she could monitor it until it left? Until it had to return? She would do it if she had to. She didn't want them to suffer any more than the people in the city.
"Maybe you should leave alone. I will stay here with it and make sure it doesn't hurt anyone. Will you sleep better knowing that?"

Aludra understood a lot about the food chain. She was a lover of documentaries and never turned her face away when the wolves finally took the elk to the ground. Was this then just a predator? A lion stalking the herd? "Creatures…" She echoed. They were creatures certainly. But they weren't real creatures like humans or dogs or cats and in fairy tales, the evil creature needed to be killed or otherwise it would just do the same thing again. But this senshi seemed to think otherwise. "Bad people go to jail," she pointed out. "I don’t think that would work for this thing." Aludra sighed. She didn't know enough about anything to make any sort of judgement. “I’ll stay with you.” Her tone left no room for argument. Even if she would be of little use, at least she could keep her saviour company. "I hope it goes home soon." She brushed her hood back and forced a smile. "I’m Sailor Aludra."

Good people and bad people didn't matter in this world. She had lost so many people and it none of them had been bad. They were just alive and then they weren't because of this war with no meaning. She couldn't help but look at this senshi with a sad expression, wishing a cat had never awoken her up into this world. Hypnos had been there for years and after seeing all she seen she didn't want this girl to see them too.
"Bad or good, no one in this world of night goes to jail. They just get taken away," she said with an ambiguous meaning.
She was going to stay? Hypnos flinched a little at that thought, mostly because she was worried about what could happen if the youma was able to get up from the powers that bound it and the net on top of it. It wasn't a huge youma but even the smallest of youma had displayed strange feats of strength during her experience. How could she forget the bugs? They weren't particularly strong but they were a handful.
"My name is Hypnos," she said almost hesitantly. "It could be soon or it could be in a few hours. It all depends on how long it has been here. How long was it chasing you?"
Maybe if she had a better idea of how long.

They just get taken away.Aludra did not like the sound of that at all. She frowned and upon noticing the others displeasure at her decision to stay, frowned some more. As Hypnos introduced herself, she forced the scowl to smooth out and plastered a smile on her face. "I don’t know. Not long. Maybe um… five minutes. I’d never seen one before so I wasn't sure what to do with it." In truth she had panicked completely and had bolted. The girl walked over to nearby brick fence and sat down. "So…" she licked her lips, eyes on the youma. "… you know this whole Senshi thing? Um, what exactly… are we supposed to be doing? I guess this thing is part of it." Aludra was blushing as she spoke, not wanting to admit how little she knew.

Hypnos might have been more worried about the fact that the youma had only been chasing her for such a short time if the likely hood of the youma surfacing just in time to chase Aludra was more probable. It had probably been on the hunt for awhile, direly trying to find food. She couldn't help but look at it sympathetically as she wished she could help it. She couldn't reason with this one though, and offering it anything with Aludra around could put her in danger.
Fortunately for the two of them, the youma didn't seem to have the energy in it to remain topside and quickly disappeared from this plane.
"Ah," she said, leaning over to gather her net back up. She stared at where it had been for a moment, bidding the pretense goodbye. Hopefully the youma would have a better time down in its home than it did up here with everyone trying to kill it. Its departure gave Hypnos the chance to finally relax and turn to the chibi senshi. With eyes able to move from the youma now that it was gone, she finally got a good look. It was a basic senshi and it seemed to be a chibi senshi like herself.
"We protect the innocent," she declared proudly. Of course, what the innocent needed protection from varied from senshi to senshi. Hypnos didn't believe they needed protection from everything and that they could spare a little energy here and there to help out a hungry youma but it definitely wasn't any sort of majority or even a proper minority. She didn't want to mislead this new senshi so she bit her tongue in regards to that.
"I must warn you. Many Negaverse Officers will attack you on sight simply because you are a senshi, and they will try to hurt you under false pretenses. They all wield weapons and get more dangerous as they grow stronger so you must take care. Many weapons are ranged, and you should not take your eyes off them."
"The officers may be capable of reason and sympathy but do not let that be your shield against them. It is not a virtue shared among all of them and many frown upon it as a flaw. Do not be afraid to run when you can or call me for help," she said softly as she held out her senshi phone to Aludra to exchange contacts. These were all things Hypnos had to learn and each one was a tear in her heart. Her voice didn't waver but her eyes held their sorrow as she stood firmly beside Aludra.
