SRP: Cooking with Mother

While Eve had to admit her immediate answer to the question: "What is your favorite hobby?" would be shopping, most definitely capitalized and peppered with a few question marks and a smiley face and maybe a heart or two... there were times when she simply loved to stay at home, times when she was asked to help her mother cook. Today was no exception, for when Mrs Summers' voice interrupted her cell phone conversation to ask her to assist in baking a cake for Mr Summers, (That's right; it was Dad's birthday today! She hoped he would like the tie and cuff links she got him!) Eve immediately gave her friend a hasty excuse about being busy and calling back later and practically flew down the stairs, doing a little pirouette when she reached the kitchen, finishing with an elegant curtsy.
Mother had laughed, and indicated her towards the bowl and Eve gripped the mixing spoon, poising it over the bowl, and after a bright grin and a quirk of the eyebrow, she began to mix.
Really, Eve thought, the most fun thing about cooking had to be baking. She loved to sneak a lick from the batter (only when Mother wasn't looking of course!) and with cookies, it was ever so enjoyable to roll out the dough and mold it into different shapes according to your whim!
But for cakes?
The most enjoyable time was the decorating! (and of course, taking a few taste tests with the batter!)
The worst time was the 'waiting for the cake to bake' part. Often, she had paced up and down impatiently in front of the oven, stopping to peer inside with a frown and wondering when it would be done. Time always seemed to pass so slowly when waiting, and Eve had learned, over time, to distract herself with something else, which was usually the television.
When Mother called, "It's done!" from the kitchen, Eve sprang up from the couch, and arrived just in time to see the chocolate cake set down on the table, a beam upon her mother's face. And now came her favorite part.
As always, Mother let her ice the cake; Eve loved making rosettes with the cream and topping them with cherries with a happy and satisfied flourish. (Yay for Dad's favorite cake being Black Forest! There was so much fun in making that!) The mother and daughter stepped back to admire their handiwork and then looked at each other, giving a brisk nod of satisfaction, then broke out into happy peals of laughter.
This time, it was Eve's turn to carry the cake, carefully and gingerly into the fridge where it would stay waiting for the time when the person it was meant for got home, when the candles were placed atop it and lighted and then blown out after a chorus of 'Happy Birthday to You!"
But for now...
Eve had a phone conversation to get back to. She had been in a middle of a gossip session about a love scandal, and the story had been getting pretty good. Flashing a smile at her mother, the blonde skipped up the stairs, her fingers already speedily tapping away at the keys on her phone.
It was definitely, Eve decided, a good day today.

Diary: Regarding becoming a Senshi

Dear Diary,
So. School's started and well, everything's busy and hectic once again. Homework, dance practices and all that; everything is so demanding I'm pretty sure I'm going to fall asleep in class soon. Madame says we're going to have to do a performance, every teacher has been dishing out tons of homework, while reminding us about the duty and honor of Crystal students to uphold, and warning us every now and then to stay away from Hillworth. They make it seem as though we're in kindergarten and they have cooties and we're supposed to run far, far away from them. Though I guess they do have a point; boys are sent to Hillworth for a reason. I wonder how Marlo and Elzo got in there... perhaps it was because of getting caught at panty raiding? Sigh, why don't they learn their lesson? Do they really want to get stuck there with Killingworth all the time? Even though we don't go to Hillworth; we've heard the rumors, Killingworth is one scary gym teacher. And I thought Crystal Academy was strict with us. Perhaps it's because we're girls that they spare the rod and all. Crystal wouldn't give us any crude punishments; I don't think Killingworth is of the same mentality.
Plus there's this...thing no one's really going to understand. Luckily, Rea, my roommate is in with me on this. It's keeping our lives more busy than it really is, and I'm exhausted. She advised me to drink coffee, but I don't know. I've never tried it; I'm not a fan of coffee. I always kinda disliked the smell. Daddy drinks it quite often, he used to say it wasn't so bad. I miss being back home with Dad and Mom and just being relaxed, pruning my garden and all. Something's that happened made me realize why I love gardening so much. It's calming and makes me in tune with nature and I love seeing flowers bloom in spring.
I miss it when Destiny City wasn't so scary. I miss it when the news didn't blare headlines about 'Senshi and Negaverse being terrorists'. I miss it when police were decent enough to tell right from wrong and stop trying to capture those trying to rid the city of this evil. Then again, it's Sailor Nea's fault. Who is she, and why is she tarnishing the name of senshi? The senshi are clearly helping to destroy the monsters up and about, rampaging around while destroying the city and landing people in the hospital. Why are there actually rogue senshi about? When did this happen, why did this happen, and when will this stop?
I hope it's soon, but I have a sinking feeling that this will be a long battle.
...Perhaps some tea would work.
