Hobbies:Mycology -- Ria is deeply fascinated by all of Earth’s life forms, but none have won her heart and interest quite so much as mushrooms. She continues to research and study them as much as possible, both by reading about various species, their toxicology, cultural significance, and various other fascinating tidbits, and by conducting her own experiments. She attempts to grow them on various waste to watch the decomposition process, for example, but she also experiments with fungus in the kitchen, where she branches away from strictly mushrooms to observe the effects that yeast can have on bread, or mold on various things.
Nature Observation -- There’s nothing quite like observing organisms in their natural habitats. Ria can frequently be found leaving the city behind to delve deep into off-trails forests and mountains. Of course mushrooms catch her attention most of all, but there are plenty of other wonders to see, too. She likes watching birds nest, and watching deer wander, and looking at the shapes that plants make when they grow, and cracking open seed pods to discover what’s inside. This is all technically Earth research, and so she takes lots of notes on all of it, such as the population of one species as opposed to another. She also takes lots and lots of pictures and videos of everything she finds.
Documentaries -- Even with an extended stay on Earth, there is still far too much going on for Ria to see and learn about it all on her own. Luckily, people have made documentaries that are both informative and artistically created. They’re fascinating, and hold Ria’s attention much easier than pouring over textbooks. That said, she prefers other sources for her hard science. She mostly watches documentaries on things like culture, social issues, art, history, and travel.
Virtues:
Studious -- Ria has always committed herself fully to her studies, and now she commits herself fully to her research. She has a good head for book smarts and retaining information, and she’s spent much of her life building up a wealth of knowledge. Given the situations on Earth and Velencya, she is trying to step up even more in trying to acquire all the knowledge she can. She will read and discover and ask questions until she finds a way to save Velencya and Velenia without needing an awakened senshi.
Inquisitive -- When around other people, Ria’s studious side comes out in her gently inquisitive nature. She’s truly interested in the lives of those around her. With her fellow Velencyans, she’s always ready to listen to what they have to say about their own projects and specialties, while with humans she’s deeply curious about nearly every part of their culture and lifestyle. She’s the kind of person who will ask a few questions and then listen to others talk about their passions for hours. She’s supportive about everyone’s lives, and good at the listening part, and all the while she’s learning more and more about the world and about her friends.
Compassionante -- Ria has a big heart. She wants all those around her to live their best lives. This is part of why she works so hard. Her friends and fellow Velencyans would prosper most on a flourishing world, be that Velenia or somewhere else. The compassion comes out in smaller ways as well. She’ll listen to people talk about their projects, but she’ll also listen to them talk about their problems, for as long as they need to talk, and if they need more than to vent, she’ll do what she can to help them through small acts of kindness.
Flaws:
Distractable -- There’s just so much to do, and see, and study, and even though Ria tries to be good and organized about her tasks and her research and her self-care, it’s very, very common for something new and exciting to come up and throw her off her game. Occasionally she’ll miss the classes she’s meant to be taking because she gets caught up in reading about slime molds online, or she’ll set up a mushroom experiment in a dark place and then forget about it until it’s far too late to get any useable evidence out of it, but it’s far more common for her self care to be what slips through the cracks. Ria commonly gets so caught up in things that she forgets to eat and sleep without frequent reminders.
Gullible -- Ria has found herself on a planet with vastly different cultural norms, various factions that her people have had no contact with in generations, and magic that goes beyond even what the Senshi and Knights can explain. There’s no textbooks written on a lot of this. The only real way to get information is to ask people firsthand, so she asks, and she assumes whatever answer she’s given is the truth. There’s so much magic and potential here that just about anything must be possible. Someone could tell Ria that they’re from a place that only exists in Velencya’s mythology databases, and she wouldn’t bat an eye. She’s also quite susceptible to advertisements. If a website tells her she needs something to have a successful Earth life, who is she to question that? She’s quickly ending up with a small hoard of Earth trinkets, but doesn’t seem to be making the connection that they’re not strictly necessary.
Shy -- Ria has always had a hard time with socializing. She wants to have friends, but it can be very difficult for her to take that first step and reach out. When she’s relaxed, or around people who she already knows, it’s easier for her to break through, and she can even be found babbling about her own interests every once in a while. However, when things get stressful or intense or awkward, she shuts down very quickly. She draws into herself, sometimes even mid-conversation, and she’ll even try to physically leave awkward or high pressure social situations.
CIVILIAN GLAMOUR: PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Appearance: As close to her Velencyan form as possible. She keeps her orchid-purple hair and yellow eyes. Her skin is a mid-tone tan with peachy undertones. She is 6'5" and lightly muscular.
Clothes: She still prefers practical clothes that are comfortable while being fitted enough that they don't get in the way. Leggings, t-shirts, and slim-fit sweaters are common. She has discovered that she enjoys fun prints and graphics, as well as certain accessories like chokers, and earrings, and flower crowns.
