The plucky deep daughter of Ikaika and Kaiko. She lives with her parents off the shore of a cute village in Matori. She spends her days poking around tidepools and in her parents lush underwater garden. She likes beach combing, meeting new people and neat conversations over tea.

She likes new plants and keeps a diary of her plants that she herself planted in her parents garden. Likely to look for rare seeds and spores one day.

She has not met her grandparents on either side of the family but one is gone and the other are crazy so she's not too much at a loss. She does think a sibling is in order to asuage her boredom.

Akea Youngling Solo 1: Akea and the Sea Dragon (Dream).
Howling wind crested and curled around the waves it created like a mother encouraging her children. Her parents were attending a late night meeting and she had been told to stay in the house. She hoped that they would get home okay, the sea was becoming violent and tugged at their home. She curled up under a pile of seaweed bedding not wanting to leave its soothing warmth for anything. It sounded like the ocean was trying to get in and her mind had no problem imagining that there are monsters out there. She felt vulnerable and wish that her parents deep sea eels were there for protection, comfort and insurance against aught else out there. The species had a particularly nasty bite and there were not many out there who would tangle with an irritated giant hell eel.

She loved them deeply and couldn't wait to have her own. She wiggled deeper down into the bedding, seeking comfort. She was super tired after a long day of playing but the storm didn't seem like it was going to let up anytime soon. Her eyes dragged down slowly and she breathed a sigh of relief. Exhaustion would take her and then when she awoke her parents would be home and everything would be okay.

Finally, she drifted off to sleep. She had about an hour of sleep before she started dream. It started out in the pelagic; nothing but blue as far as the eye could she see. A gentle current comforted her and pulled her gently forward. At first there was no other life just her floating along in the abyss. Then a small fish here and there a jellyfish, once in a while segwaying into a school of squid a ray and more fish. She watched it all calmly and continued to let the current pull her along. The further she went, the more numerous and large the wildlife, none of which seemed to mind her presence at all. She thought that was a bit strange, but she too was very calm. Even the territorial critters were being docile.

The ocean seemed to become saturated with color, not the washed out blue of deep water where they actually were. It was very strange. Suddenly, she heard the steady bass beat of a great drum. Five beats quite slow transitioned into a staccato rattatatt, and then it wove almost into a melody, as at least two other drums also began to beat. The current began to tug harder based on the drum rhythm; fast, slow, fast, slow, fast, fast, fast. Suddenly, it all stopped, and she hung, suspended. She inhaled sharply when she saw what the powerful current had been hiding.

A long winding beast with black skin and blue scales. A draconic face formed by a thick blue mane shot was silver threads. He had eyes so blue she couldn't even describe them if she tried. A large white Opal was set into his forehead. He had seemed to look up expectantly, but now tilted his great head to one side as if confused. When he moved she saw that he had a huge rack of antlers, that were a deep and shiny black. The long talons on his hands and feet were pearly white. As he moved jewels set on gold and silver chains sparkled vibrantly, more vibrantly than they should. Emeralds and sapphires in various but dark hues. Gems she could not name that were rich dark purple piqued her interest along with teal, turquoise and peridot. Two long tendril whiskers floated elegantly about him. He was absolutely beautiful. His eyes seemed to glowe faintly and she was reminded about the bioluminescense found in the jellyfish and squid.

He spoke in a language that she could not understand and his voice was so deep it rattled her chest. So deep in fact that she wasn't entirely sure she would understand even if he could speak common. He paused expectantly, then rolled his eyes and tried again. This time he did speak in her language and in a pitch she could actually understand.

" I said that it's not a mistake that you were actually here it is unexpected because I thought you would look a little different but it does not really matter." The Dragon for she didn't know what else to call him approached and eyed her speculatively. Menehune and Moakai, how spectacular." the dragon said.

With him now so close she could see that he had an elongated jaw like he might eat fish for living.
"Who are you?" her words had a slight ambient echo. He sighed and appeared to stare out to sea, turning his huge head until she was afraid he was going to smack her by accident with his rather pointy slash thorny looking antlers.
"I have had many names and none many lifetimes and one."
"Rhymes. We are doing the rhyming thing." She was reasonably certain that this was a dream. Therefore this fantastical creature could not hurt her. Thus sass.
"You do not like my rhymes."

Good gracious. He actually looked hurt. She shook her head bemused. "I didn't say that. I was just rather hoping you didn't decide to speak that way the whole time are here."

"Such impudrnc,e you really are your father's daughter"

She raised her eyebrows. "Which one?"

"Both actually now that I think about it." He answered with little hesitation.

She seemed to deflate a bit. " You do know them then."

Her fathers were more than a handful. They had such powerful strength of spirit that they were forced to be reckoned with. For all they were still young.

The dragon smirked all knowingly.

He sighed resigned and they both giggled a little. It was kind of nice to know someone else who knew her parents. They were a tight knit trio, sometimes too tight and she wished for someone else to share her life with. Maybe this was why she was dreaming about a dragon. He was at least company. Maybe she would ask her parents for a sibling. It couldn't be all that hard to get one after all, they'd gotten her so why not one more? Preferably a little sister so she could do their hair.

"How are babies made? Is it hard? Do you think my parents would go get a sibling for me.?"

The dragon looked poleaxed. "Well, little one that is a question for your parents. Children are a big responsibility." he said.

" Fine. If you're not here to help with that, then why exactly are you here? " She pressed

He inspected his nails. "Hey, you came to me not the other way around." he said mildly, flicking away something invisible.

She crossed her arms and simply stared at him with an inscrutable expression on her face.

"Okay, okay, I was trying to do some deep sea magic and somehow I seem to have summoned you by accident."

"Summoned me. You summon me?!"

" Well, yes, but it was sort of an accident, sort of. It wasn't intentional. I just happened to get you in particular. " He tried to explain.

"Why are you summoning people to begin with?"

There is a prophecy a tradition in which a Kahikinian of Moakai blood would one day be key in preventing a disaster. You see why you surprised me a little."
" Sorry to disappoint you." She huffed. He was so lucky that she knew that this was a dream, or she would have tried to swim away a long time ago and just leave him here. But she was currently asleep in her bed. So she would humor him at least. She wondered if something she had eaten in the previous day might not have been a bit fermented. She didn't always have such strange dreams. Maybe it was because of the storm raging outside or maybe there really was a strangely powerful dragon in her dreams. Her money was on the fermentation.

"So I'm supposed to save the world or something?" She said bluntly.
"I didn't say it would be saving the world, I said you'd be key in preventing a disaster. Part of the issue is that according to the same prophecy, I cannot tell you much more than that."

"And here I thought it would be one of those helpful dragons." She accused.

"My dear there is no such thing" He chuckled.

"No such thing as dragons?"

" No such thing as a helpful dragon."

She rolled her eyes as he laughed. It was going to be a long night. At least this wasn't a nightmare.

"Do I have to go on a quest?" She asked the dragon

He shook his head setting the jewels sparkling to great effect.

"You will know what it was after you've done it, just continued to be yourself."

Well, she really shouldn't have expected a dream to make sense.

" All right, so are we done then? Because I have dreams of pink radaku and purple unicorns to get to. Not that this hasn't been fun and all. I'm grateful for all of your sage advice and you are not hard on the eyes, but I really must be going."
" You think I'm pretty?" he asked with emotion in his voice.

" All that talk and this is what you absorbed." She slumped dramatically. "You're so easily distracted."

" It comes with age, darling. Not that you will ever be as old as I." he said.

"Oh, Tosh. You don't look a day over millennium."

He winked a great blue eyed her. "You're just saying that," he said warmly, before reaching out a pearly white claw and touching her ultra gently in the middle of her forehead, just over her eyes.

Akea jolted awake as thunder crashed loudly through the night sky.

Prentice Solo 1: Worship
It was the solstice, a wonderful time for prayer. Having parents from two different kahikinian lineages and cultures and living far away from both afforded her the flexibility to practice her self made religion with no judgement.
She lit a candle and placed it between her and the sea, smiling to see the coastal wind playing gently with the flame. It was a sign that Iokaila was happy with it. The wind represented her fickle nature and Akea was pleased that the goddess gave her subjects such freedom compared to the menehune gods. She would do her best to honor them of course but she loved the great sea goddess special.

Next she arranged her offerings for the menehune gods. She had her favorites among those gods as well and she delighted in worshipping them in the way she chose. For Noelani the goddess of life and rebirth, she had crafted a small raft and upon it she placed a whole egg and a candle. As she did this she prayed over the grass matt and right before she was finished she lit the candle. A symbol of renewal and the endless fire of life. This particular ritual always filled her with hope. It was part of the reason she honored Noelani first of the Menehune gods. SHe sent the raft off and watched as it bobbed along before being accepted by the current and carried off out of sight.
Her long vigil over she got out a bowl of water and placed one of her favorite flower seeds in it along with a cutting with only leaves from the parent plant and a cutting with a flower in bloom. She sprinkled more water over it and prayed to Kaino, god of storms and rain. SHe loved storms and the energy they carried, giving water to all the plants and for her people to drink.
ON a polished plank of wood that she had made with Ikaika as a project, she placed a fresh fish, a ripe fruit and a small bowl of rice. She set it on a rock over looking the sea, it was her offering to A'ai. Life was a big give and take. Next she gathered kindling, bark and dried bits off wood, before striking flint and making a small fire. She put some sage and other sweet smoking herbs into the fire, her recognition of Palaau.
Next was Meakan. Akea produced a small sprout and spent a long time finding the perfect spot to plant it. She dug the hole with her hands and tucked the seedling in, drawing the loam back over the roots gently. She loved this part. Occassionally she would come and check on the plant.

Uukai was the god of marsh and swamp which they did not have in Matori so she made do with a large ceramic pot filled with water and sediment that Ikaika had harvested for her. SHe put some seeds in and even put a menk or two in there. It was one of her fav projects ever and she thought that Uukai would be pleased.

For Ia'anau the god of sun, moon and sky, she said prayers under each condition.

Finally for Al'kano she left an offering of food over night in a secluded glade. Her set of prayers complete she settled down to enjoy the feeling of peace that it gave her.

Class Choice
Her latest adventure had made some things much clearer to her. She wanted to follow the path that truly set her soul on fire, what better way to pursue it than to have good, practical company like Rex to help her learn it. Now she couldn't wait to start to learn the storm magic.

Likely she would never be quite as powerful as that hurricane but she suspected that Kaino and Iokaila had conspired together on that particular monster.

She could not wait to tell her parents that she finally decided and that she felt 100% sure in her heart finally. This path would bring her much closer to her favorite gods than treasure hunting ever could. She had always felt deep down that treasure hunting by itself lacked a certain spiritual substance that she craved. Now she woudln't have to worry about lacking that substance or lacking for the sense of adventure that treasure hunting brought. She was so very excited. She would have to visit Aki and tell him all about her scary storm riddled adventure with Nin and Rex. She was sure he would enjoy the tale, especially the action scenes. Nin despite being knocked out for their final decision had helped both her and Rex decide in a round about way. She supposed that was what good teachers did. They had both chosen the summoner path with an emphasis on storms, the other path being nature magic like growing vines and such.

She was rather grateful to the poised Matorian woman who apparently had a giant family with her iceling husband who was reported to be abominably handsome. Akea didn't think she would be able to handle seven children, a burgeoning beast taming business, a large property and a beast healing practice as well as mentoring strange kids but somehow Nin managed to pull it all off.

If Akea could pull off just a fraction of that workload following her own path one day, she would be doing better than well in the end. With a skip in her step she bounced off to tell her kith and kin her great news.

Akea was elbow deep in her Father's garden. She was thinking about their pasts and how far they had come from their struggles. One father had been orphaned and the other had defected from his psyco parents who only cared about money and prestige.
She smiled a little while she ripped a weed out by the roots. It was so fitting that they had found each other and enjoyed their passions in relative peace. She had been told that her birth had been a gift to them in more than one way. Her mixed heritage, quite obvious with one look at her, had quite negated any more unwanted attention from her extant grandparents. A service she was happy to provide with her existance.

She felt like she was a seal on the love that her parents had for each other; a seal of commitment and protection.
She rather thought that if she did meet her grandparents she would rather like to punch them both in the face for putting her dads thought hell and spreading their misery around.
If they wanted to make each other miserable then that was one thing, but it was downright rude to do it to others.
She contemplated the weed she held. Perhaps people in one's life were like plants in a garden, some deserved to stay and be doted upon and others deserved to be ripped out roots and all and then tossed aside to wither in the sun, never to bother the garden again. Some people just needed help with their gardens that was all. She grinned at her clever analogy. A flower had recently opened its petals up and she paused to admire its simple beauty. It simply made her happy. She wondered what the plant's story was. She knew her Dads stock came from all over. Maybe she would start her own garden and let it help tell her story.

She had dug up a patch of land adjacent to her Father's garden and had spent days looking for seeds at markets in nearby towns, occassionally venturing further afield and collecting seeds from some of the more interesting wild plants. She awoke one day to find a whole pouch of various seeds on her desk. She smiled; evidentally her Dad's had contributed to her endeavors. They were always so supportive of her it made her smile.
She took her time inspecting and eagerly cataloguing the contents of that pouch. There was about a moon's worth of seed collecting in there and she couldn't resist holding it to her chest and squealing in delight.
How absolutely wonderful it was.
She felt quite covetous and protective over her seed hoard. And she waited for the perfect time to plant them. When the full moon came she started her plantings with Meakan's blessing. She reveled in it. She got to choose when and where to plant everything, how much water they go and almost every other aspect of their care. It made her feel like her garden's personal goddess anyway. The thougth made her smile. A few days later she was blessed with a few sprouts. How delightful! She spent some time admiring them and found herself scurrying back to check on them at least five times a day. No wonder Kaiko liked gardening so much, it was such a rush of joy. No doubt her parents thought her newly erratic behavior bemusing.

She did tend to jump feet first into whatever caught her interest. She knew that she would enjoy gardening for as long as she lived. It was both peaceful and exciting in turn. So long as the weather and wildlife left it alone anyway. She did live in fear that some enterprising creature would fancy a snack or den of her new garden. She guarded it jealously.

As per usual she was on the fish for auxillary food. Two active dads tended to eat alot, especially extra tall kahi dads. Thus rod, line and lure. She found a really cute spot on the beach, and plunked down the tackle kit before setting up her rod to catch bait. Her parents had teased her that she should have been a fisherman instead of a summoner, she had retorted that they were still connected in some way. She could help fisherman out by driving the storms away after all..well so long as it wasn't a hurricane. Soon enough she had some bait tickling at her line so she reeled in some smallish fish so that she could try to catch something a little bigger. She tied off the extra bait fish she caught on strings nearby so they were easily retrievable. Best way to catch a big fish was to use smaller fish. Fish found other fish delicious and tended to eat any they could fit into their mouths. Her Dads were much the same way.

She set her lure and hooks out, ate a snack (Fishing was hungry work after all), and waited.

The sun tracked across the sky slowly and she thought all the thoughts pensively and patiently watching her rod tip.
It flicked back and forth out of rythym and she smiled.

"Looks like we have a taker." Reverently she gently picked up the rod and gave it an almighty yank to set the hook into the side of the fish's mouth.

She was surprised when the rod yanked back.
"Oh dear." she muttered before entering into one of the hardest fishing battles she had ever experienced. This was saying something because she had done a lot of fishing in her day, plus the fact that her family all fought for the wishbone when they ate poultry..it was tradition.

It took two and a half hours and every last ounce of strength but she managed to bring the fish..which was actually a shark, in to shore. She would need help getting it back home. She took out the conch shell that her parents had given her and blew the call pattern that meant help but not an emergency. It would summon her parents to her position in due time. In the mean time she set about killing the shark and gutting it for better transport. They would treat the flesh so that it was edible. This was one of the best sharks to catch for eating purposes and would feed them for a long time. The teeth also made handy necklaces as well.
