They had been assigned to a local flower expert as help in his journey by Nin. In total they would be three in number; herself, the botanist and one of Ninaeleth’s sons.
The trip would be an adventure at the least and was a treasure hunt as well.
She turned up at the address she was supposed to in the busier part of their little village. The significantly large sprawling estate being her first clue that she was in fact in the right place.

He was honored that the big beast taming family liked him enough to send him helpers for his mission. He had researched the really cool plant that was ultra rare and liked to live in secluded pockets of the Jauhar rainforest.
He couldn’t wait to breath the air there, so many plants lived there that the air must smell botanical . He peered out his window to to see a very tall kahi girl. She would probably be quite useful. He went out to meet her wondering what her special skills were.

Tethys arrived just in time to see the water male come out of his hut.
“Hello there.” He hoped he wasn’t too late. His mom had shoved a full backpack at him along with his two Keldari telling him he had been volunteered to go on a mission to Jauhar.
A little short notice perhaps but he wasn’t unhappy about it either.
“I hear we are going on a little adventure.”

She smiled at her new companions; one of which was obviously one of Nin’s sons with his gorgeous mix of ice and water traits.
“Indeed, all the way to Jauhar or so I was told.” She incined her head at the only full blood in the company. H had such fine teal hair. He thoguth it was quite pretty indeed.
Not quite as cool as her friend Aki’a hair though, his was a much lighter blue, it almost glowed like a flame.

“You are indeed correct. Our mission is to find the rainbow berry, (which as it turns out is actually an aril), which grows on a medium sized tree with colorful bark in certain pockets of microclimate in the Jauhar forest. It will not be easy to find, nor the jungle easy to navigate without a guide but your Mother couldn’t get a hold of any that your family know. So she just sent some extra personnel instead in the hopes that that would even out the odds.”
It might, but he was doubtful. Unfamiliar territory was hard.

The water male was talking to him. “Of course she did, the only warning I got was the full backpack and her handing me my Keldari. They are Lurk and Slink. They have decided to take a nap in my shirt.”
It felt a bit strange to be without any of his kin but perhaps that was the very reason his Mother volunteered him for this expedition.
“No use delaying.”

They traveled further than she ever had before. It seemed to take forever to get to Jauhar. However she felt something almost magical when they entered the jungle.
“Its beautiful here!” Very floral, there were flowers and plants of all shapes and sizes, colors and designs.
She wanted to stay and explore here forever!
It was somewhat hard not to be distracted.

“It is beautiful but it is also extremely easy to get lost in here so stay together as a group at all times.” The jungle was vastand confusing, beautiful and deadly.
“There are many dangers living here; webs, radaku, warriors, poisonous plants and many others I’m sure. We need to be extremely careful. However it can also be lucrative here, you find any plants in seed call me over and whatever you do don’t touch them unless you know what you are doing.”

He was kinda missing all the beasties at home at this point. He felt stronger with their support around. Two keldari really were not all that fierce compared to the mysteries of the rainforest.
He made it his job to keep an eye on the botany freaks. He was sad that none of the alks that his parents knew had been available for this excursion.
He paused. “It feels like we are being watched.” He kept looking behind them, checking for territorial or hungry critters.

“Better head up into the trees for a bit, might be safer until we can discern if it is a threat.” It probably would have been good to bring someone along that wasn’t a prentice. They had no heavy hitters out with them. Point to Jauhar.
She handily scrambled up one of the trees her long limbs giving her an advantage for once. She sent rope down for the others. He had just pulled Tethys up to join her and Ky when a radaku pack emerged from the mist.

“You must have felt the scout watching you.” It was a very good thing that they had retreated when they had, a moment longer and they would have been radaku chow.
“Best that we travel up here for a while, it will be slower but hopefully safter so long as nothing arboreal is hungry.”
He looked around, “Besides being up here might make it easier to find the tree we are looking for.”

As per usual he found himself in the company of a bunch of crazy people. “Yes I’m not going to tempt them with my delicious self again.” He checked on Lurk and Slink but they had slept through the whole ordeal, wrapped comfortably around his torso.
“Nice to see you two were not disturbed by the immanent danger.” He muttered to them, getting a contented tongue flick for his troubles. He rolled his eyes and followed the others.

They made slow but steady progress away from the pack and had to pause quietly as an alk war party passed beneath them.
No need to announce their presence when their business was their own. She signalled the others to move quietly forward once the giant ladies had moved past them. The alks seemed to have no issues staying on the ground floor but they were all warriors as a rule.

Ky was sure that one of the passing warriors looked up and made eye contact with him. He said nothing and made no move to alert her sisters. If he could have frozen that moment he would have so he could come back and examine it later. It felt like he shared a strange ethereal connection with that other being for just a moment. No words exchanged just a poignant glance. He stood frozen.

He saw Akea motion them forward again, but Ky didn’t move. Tethys used he same poke in the ribs that he used on all the beasties at home. It worked and the progression continued onto a meadow, where they finally came down from the canopy.
They still moved cautiously but the clearing game him considerable ease. It gelt like a part of him unclenched in the open. He chalked it up to the mass danger they had just been through…twice.
