Zasha 1
Zasha was blessedly alone. For the first time in forever she raced the breeze along the beach and found herself a little further from home than normal. She noticed that there was ome splashing over by a tide pool. Was a creature stuck? Was it a cool creature?
Zasha crept over to the tide pool so as to not startle anything that was in there. She took a deep breath and peeked out over the rocky walls in the pool.
Well, that wasn't what she had been expecting. A kahikinian was swimming in the tide pool. A youngling from the looks of her face though it was hard to tell because she was so tall.

Akea 1
Akea was noodling around in a tide pool reaching into nooks and crevices for unsuspecting fish and yummy things. This was one of her favorite pastimes. It was fun and challenging and it helped provide for the family. So she did often, at least four times a week. Her fathers were constantly hungry.
She had found something juicy in a large crevice and she was slowly working her hand in to tickle whichever critter was in there, so she could bring it out and assess its edibility. She heard a piece of rock tumble down the edge of the pool and turned right when a fish bit the finger that was underneath the rock. She squeaked and recoiled.
Turning she saw a girl watching her

Just like that, that she was caught.
" Are you okay?" She asked pointedly. Hopefully whatever was in the crack wasn't venomous. She scrambled lithely down the edge and hopped from rock to rock. She got close to the much larger Kahi and she grabbed the girl's hand and inspected the wound. It didn't seem serious. She smiled up at the girl who had two different colored eyes. That was cool.
"I guess whatever was in the crack didn't feel like being lunch today. I'm sorry about your finger."

She wasn't quite sure what to think about the hybrid. The girl had potentially been watching her but she wasn't sure for how long. But her hands were quite gentle and she was incredibly small.
Definitely a youngling.
" I guess not. My name is Akeakilaki. But you can just call me Akea for short," she liked her name. It sounded like a clatter.
" What is your name? Are you from around here?" Maybe you maybe she could get an actual friend out of this encounter.

"My name is Zashaduri. But everyone calls me Zasha. My whole family has long names. It's kind of our thing. I lived just the other side of the village. This is the furthest I've been out."
She was already having so much fun, no wonder why her mom was always sneaking off. Dad tended to stay by the forge, though she personally thought staying in one place would get horribly boring.
"It's so cool to just go exploring. I wish I was allowed to go further, but I'm at my absolute limit." She shrugged as if in apology.

"Best if you stay within it. These beaches could have dangerous surprises, her parents had warned her often enough. It was a popular place for large snaptrotter. She had plenty seen plenty in the surrounding waters.
"You risk becoming a snack for some other bigger scalies out here. I think they are beautiful, but it's better to admire them from the outside.She wouldn't even be a mouthful, so cute. Akea felt a little leggie in comparison.

"True although my brother maintains that it'd be too tough and gamey to digest."
She chuckled, "I think he would give them constipation if he tried to eat him. He didn't think that was as funny though."
Her brothers were great some days and other days there were no fun at all. Mostly because they out ran her and she couldn't keep up. Her twin was better. He had been the only one of them to inherit their dad's blue silver crystals, where she was the only one to get her mother's lovely green eyes.

" That's cool. You have siblings. May I ask how many? It's just me and my family but I've been thinking lately about asking my family for a sibling. Being an only child... is hard. Sometimes there is no one available to play with."
She wrapped her tender bitten fingertip in a bit of cloth to make it feel better. Better a bite than a sting. It must be so great not have to worry about being alone. Of course she had a rather large playground but still, endless space was sometimes a poor substitute for good company.

" I have two older brothers, they identical twins. They keep the whole family on their toes and I have a brother my age, who seems a little calmer though he and I are still very young. Having three brothers is fun, but I wouldn't say it is easy."
She posed dramatically. "You are never alone and they get into all your stuff and then the big one can out run you and have their own fun. I think that is the most frustrating part. I hate when they do that. Its so quiet when they are gone, too quiet. It is way more fun to be a part of the adventure."

" I don't know about all that. I just know that I'm a lonely quite a lot."
She shrugged and began to feel around a new crevice. She was going to get hungry soon and she hadn't searched everywhere yet. Her bucket of prizes was moderately full but her family could eat a lot and it wasn't too big of a bucket anyway.
" Do you eat crustaceans?" She asked curiously, earthlings were strange as were the other land walkers, and she wondered what they ate with all that air.

"Yes, but not altogether that often, we enjoy fish and fowl and other land based foods like fruits and veggies as well. Zasha eased herself into the water of the tide pool to splash around a bit. Her family had taught her to swim so she wasn't afraid of the water.
She watched curiously as Akia fished around she wasn't brave enough to stick her arm in those dark places just yet. Of course she was a lot smaller than the other girl. Some of the things found in tidepools were bigger than her. Unlikely but possible. She wished she was big already then she wouldn't have to be so afraid of being something's lunch.

"Fascinating." Akea put a crab in the bucket.
"Oh look at those pretty blue claws. Aren't they lovely? A beautiful smoky electric blue." The crab in question crawled angrily over the other inhabitants of the bucket. They could hear the 'snick snick snick' of its claws.
"They are so cute when they're mad. Me and my Dads usually tick one off and let it chase us. "It's my favorite game. We then let the crab to go free as we feel we pestered the poor thing enough it doesn't deserve to be eaten after that."

"I will have to try that with my brothers too. I think they would really like that game. You should definitely ask your parents for a sibling. If they get you a brother, they make good protectors when they grew up. But be prepared to put up with a whole lot of nonsense and playing around."
Brothers could be taxing and cost a lot of energy. Too much some days for not just her but her parents as well. Too bad they hadn't had all girls. She smirked. Such a shame.

She nodded. "I'll prepare myself. Thank you for the advice."
She should come this way more often. It was fun to talk to someone new for change. Dare she say she had made an actual friend? Perhaps she could tell if the little earthing came back to visit on a different day. She hoped she would. She hoped that the girl was authentic. She had met one somewhat sketchy young earthling but Zasha did not seem the same.

Girl talk felt very nice after so long around boring old boys. Her brothers were fun sometimes though and they let the little ones get away with some things even helped them do it sometimes.
She considered. "Yes, definitely get a sibling." She told the girl. She felt sorry for the lonely Kahi. That was one thing that siblings were good for, she was rarely bored or lonely.
