Name: Anabel Au
Nickname: Ana
Age: 24
Birthday: 2 January 1991
Sign: Capricorn
Gemstone: Black onyx
Blood Type: A
Fav. Food: Anything she can coat liberally in khrenovina, a Siberian tomato/garlic/horseradish sauce. Especially bruschetta.
Hated Food: Herring. It should also be noted that Anabel is a vegetarian for health reasons.
Occupation: DMV Clerk, part-time student at DCU
Hobbies: Wii Sports -- Since her accident, Anabel isn't actually able to be as active as she once was. However, she's still a highly kinesthetic person, and while most of her entertainment comes from television and video games now, she particularly enjoys Wii Sports; it gives her the opportunity to get up and move around in the comfort of her own home, where if she has any problems she has all her coping mechanisms around her. She particularly enjoys Wii Tennis and any of the Wii Resort expansions, but is not very fond of Wii Golf. She can bowl a perfect game in Wii Bowling, and should not be challenged.
Gaming -- Anabel has caught all the Pokemon, in every generation. Her Animal Crossing town has a completed museum. Her Mass Effect Galactic Readiness score is 100%, always. Her Vita has the full stock of accomplishments. She is, to put it politely, a completion junkie; she will play any game as many times as she has to to unlock every ending and every special weapon and every secret cutscene.
Swimming -- Missing part of her liver, a kidney,
and her whole spleen--just to list the relevant parts--Ana is very much not allowed on most sports teams--she can't consume protein in any meaningful amounts, she can't take hits, and she's extremely prone to illness. This makes the chlorinated and relatively bacteria-free environment of swimming pretty much the only way she can get active (aside from WiiSports). She can generally be found at the DCU pool early in the morning on days when she has class.
Yoga -- It's really important for Anabel's healing process that she stay as active as she can, and yoga is a very relaxing non-contact sport that the DCU gym does for free on Thursdays. Also, the Wii can now teach a yoga class if you have a balance board, which Anabel totally does. So if she's not otherwise WiiSporting, or swimming, she's likely to get her activity fix from yoga.
Virtues: Always Ready - Anabel is a very calm person. In a crisis situation, she's generally able to come up with something to do; she can handle almost any situation with grace and aplomb because she's always ready for them. She knows what kind of extinguisher to use for a specific kind of fire (and, yes, there is more than one kind of extinguisher depending on the kind of fire) and knows how to detect and react to things such as strokes, heart attacks, and spontaneous stab wounds.
Eumoirous - Ana is healthy, wholesome, and generally cheerful. Like, sure, she is missing a significant amount of her insides, and that tends to force her to eat healthier than she would otherwise, but even before her accident she was a bright and cheerful person, always willing to share what she knew with people. She tends to be honest and responsible, not for any particular reason but because she just
is.
Choose and Act - Anabel is decisive. She makes decisions and sticks to them, is what I mean by that. When confronted with tough situations, she tries to discard her emotional feelings about them and just do what's best by logic, and she's usually pretty successful. This has saved her life in the past, most obviously during the accident that kind of messed up all her insides. Being able to compartmentalize, to separate the emotional considerations for things from the actual necessity of things, has kept her emotionally stable even through really trying times. It also improves her current quality of life.
Flaws: Feasting on Those Who'd Subdue Her - Anabel has a real problem with being told no. She takes limits as challenges, and when she bests a challenge she has to rub the challenger's face in it, and when she doesn't she... accepts it, and moves on. The reason this is a flaw is that she is a massive sore winner, and does not do all that well with victory--she can handle defeats with grace, but winning puts her on a high that apparently temporarily blinds her to the human feelings of the loser.
Girls Aren't Meant to Fight - When Anabel has a problem with another person, she tends to handle it by talking to other people and getting them to put pressure on the person she's in conflict with. She's extremely poor at handling confrontation between people--a crisis from outside her social group, that's fine. She can handle an emergency. If she gets into an argument, she tends to stew over it and explain her viewpoint to others in the hopes that they will make the problem go away for her.
Warning, Contents Under Pressure - In 99% of occasions, Anabel is capable of divorcing her feelings from the facts of a situation. She's generally capable of compartmentalizing and stashing things away until she feels the best decision has been made, and then she can take things out and rationally examine her feelings into nothing, sort of like going through a carefully-packed box without disturbing the other parts. When other people dare show her any concern or pity for decisions she's made all on her lonesome, she gets hostile, and can say pretty harsh things that she doesn't really mean. It's not so much an explosion as Anabel turning cagey and hostile, and it can be extremely off-putting.
