Now that the children weren't so demanding in their needs and could for the most part entertain themselves, Azure had gone back to pouring over the task that he had been given and sidelined due to the surprise pregnancy. He had been several times he had gone off in search of a leypoint, unsuccessfully, now that the kids were older. It had been a few months, when Azure realized that he probably wasn't spending as much time with his children as he should be and decided to do something special with them in order to bond. Unfortunately Hemi was sick, but he could still take the other two out.
"Hey boys?" It still felt odd to him that he was responsible for the two quickly growing children, he still felt so young himself sometimes. "You want to go on an adventure with your old man today?"
Malek had been sitting on the ground, scribbling some uncomprehensable nonsense (was that a bird, or a dinosaur?) on a piece of paper he had found when he heard his father's voice. A trip? That would be fun, probably anyways. Smiling, he set down his stuff and quietly stood up before moving over to look at Chal and see if he was coming.
Chal had been mischieviously eyeing Malek as his brother was busy scribbling away. He had his halo in hand, trying to precisely aim it at his brother's halo-less head. The boy was almost ready to chuck it when he heard father's voice and the halo quickly returned to its home on top of Chal's head. "A abveture?" Chal asked, jumping up.
Azure grinned at the response, glad he was doing something right... maybe. He certainly wasn't going to take them on one of his expeditions, which had the potential for danger, but something fun at the least. "I think we'll go for a little walk around the forest today. Are you guys ready?" He looked at Malek specifically, since his response had been more quiet.
Rather than answering back, Malek simply smiled and nodded before running over to his father. This would be really fun, wouldn't it? Maybe something exciting could happen, a story he could show to his mother or tell Hemi. It was sad he had to be sick on such a special day, but that didn't mean he had to be left out, right?
Chal ran with Malek, fluttering his wings as he did so that he was doing a sort of running-flying hybrid. "Where we going papa?" The boy asked.
Azure was used to silence, Dyas was mute, but it concerned him none-the-less. He rubbed the top of both of the boys heads and started walking towards the entrance of the cave. "Just out and about... maybe walk to the river and back? Does that sound good?"
Closing his eyes at the head rub, Malek audibly laughed before shaking his hair back into place. Looking up at his dad, he grinned, nodding. "Mhm~!" Then he looked to Chal, giving him a thumbs up to tell him to agree it was a good idea.
Whatever it was, spending time with papa was always a good thing.
Chal looked over at Malek and saw his thumbs up. "Well... I 'ohno..." he said solemnly, as if this just might be the worst idea ever. The boy then smiled playfully, "I guess." he said with a crinkle of his nose. He let his hair stay messy as he followed them to the outside of the cave.
"You boys are silly," Azure laughed. "Hey... maybe we'll see some animals." The father said in an excited voice. Standing at the entrance to the cave, Azure turned around to look at both of them. "Ok, the most important thing to remember when going into the forest is to stay together. Can you promise me that?"
Malek started off behind them with a little hop in his step to catch up, having become destracted in asking Chal his opinion. When he neared, he almost ran into his brother rather than stopping just before. Insead, he curved just past him and came to a stop at the other side of his dad. He continued on a step past his dad before walking backwards to look back at him. Biting his lip and putting on as serious face as he could muster, he nodded.
"Hey!" Chal shouted at his brother, watching him carefully. He nodded his head hesitantly at his father. "Awight." he agreed. Rules always took out the fun in things. But it wasn't very often that he got to do things with his dad, so he'd have to settle.
"Great!" Azure smiled as he playfully marched forward like a soldier would. He sort of wanted to make the experience educational, teach the boys about finding their way home and stuff like that, but decided it would be better to just have fun with them. "What were you drawing Malek?" He asked, conversationally as they started walking through the forest.
