When the notices went up, Nephi immediately went to work.
An assignment from the Guardians, a specific assignment, tied to their final tests? To Nephi, that was invigorating. To know the Guardians were still finding him--and some of the other squires, of course--worthy, so worthy as to send them on a quest to gain such important items? Nephi eagerly took the mission, setting to figuring out how exactly to go about what he was told to get.
Water and Earth, those were obvious. As he knew, the Water was represented by the heretics that called themselves the 'naiad,' fish-like creatures with the ability to walk on land on occasion. He had no specific interaction with them so far as he remembered, but he did know what they were. Certainly, fish heretics could not be terribly hard to spot.
The Earth heretics, he was a bit more familiar with. He had seen some of both the furrier variety and the smoother variety, referring to themselves as the 'Faun,' as he recalled. They called their home that rather large tree that he could still even see from the edge of the Floating City.
From what he understood, both of these heretics possessed items they would need to get to their final quest. In that case, he would simply need to ... talk to some faun and some naiad. Perhaps he could get them to give up their strange baubles without needing to resort to his daggers.
Of course, that did not stop him from placing two in the hilts near his hip.
When he was ready, he swiftly moved to the Landing Pad, waiting for any other Squires that may wish to go with him. He believed Genesis was heading out today. She was a determined Squire with a good head on his shoulders, and Nephi believed that they would be able to work well in the will of the Guardians together.Wolfs Heart If this set up is silly, forgive me. >>

Genesis stood in her room, staring at her sword, for what must have been ages before she left. Deciding whether or not to bring it was perhaps one of the harder decisions. If she brought it with her... she might scare whatever heretic she might speak to and be unsuccessful in convincing them to part with their item. However, if she didn't bring it, she would be defenseless. The size of Genesis' sword did not make it easily concealed unless she wore a large cloak over it. A large cloak might deem her to be untrustworthy as well... but it seemed to be the only option she had in order to not be completely vulnerable. With that decision made, Genesis set out to the landing pad where Nephi had already arrived ahead of her. Good, it looked like she would have a fellow squire to work with. Genesis had worked with a pae she was not familiar with for the retrieval of what she believed to be the fire and air artifacts, it had been a strange experience considering that she did not know the pae's strengths or weaknesses. Thankfully, the mission had been successful and they had not had any hiccups. Assuming, she had the right items. Genesis was not so certain about the fire artifact. "Nephi," Genesis gave a curt bow of her head as she approached him, "You are adequately prepared?" The female asked as she looked down at the isle below them. "Have you any thoughts about the most practical way to go about this? Thievery... trickery... or perhaps we can simply ask if they would like to part with it..." Genesis pondered out loud. She wished she had some objects of interest that she might be able to use to barter with, but her simple lifestyle did not leave her with many possessions. When spotting Genesis, Nephi was relieved. He did not necessarily mind working on his own, but he had not wanted to.
He bowed his head in greeting, eyes lifting to glance off into the distance. "Yes, I am prepared for this mission. I assume you are as well?" He lifted his head back up, looking her directly in the eyes. "I have overheard some squires pondering taking on a more violent approach. I do not think this will gain us any good word on the Isle below... I think we would be better off trying to convince, or maybe trick. Thievery as a last resort if they will not cooperate..."
Nephi stretched out, stretching his arms above his head and rolling his shoulder before settling again. He turned a determined gaze towards the Isle below, distant as most of it looked from where they stood. It was too bad they could not see from above where some of these heretics might be gathering. While they had wings, it would have been much easier to know exactly where they needed to go before they even left the landing podium.
"Did you have any ideas on who to approach first? Be it naiad, or faun?" ventured he, glancing over to Genesis. Considering he needed both trinkets, he was not terribly picky on where they started.

Genesis nodded her head slowly, beneath her cloak covering her sword was concealed as best as possible and a small bag was full of survival-type things if there was need. "No... a violent approach would draw far too much attention as well. We should remain anonymous for as long as possible." Genesis responded, "I am pleased we are in agreement about this." It seemed like a logical progression to Genesis that they try to convince first and then escalate their approach as needed. "Perhaps we should attempt the faun first..." Genesis thought out loud, the naiad seemed to be more fickle about when they came out of the water, but it would be likely that there would be some faun out and about near the tree. Perhaps they might see a Naiad by chance while they traveled. "Let us head towards the tree, though if we see a Naiad we should stop." The angel curled out her wings, giving them a slow stretch before giving a final nod that she was ready.

"The longer we stay anonymous, the less likely the faun or naiad would be to report back that they are having things taken from them," observed Nephi, quietly, agreeing with Genesis. It obviously pleased him they were in agreement as well. It was one thing to find another Squire to take the adventure with.
It was completely another to find another Squire that was not only willing to take the adventure with him, but to take the same approach as he would, as well.
The Guardians had picked quite a diverse group, he had noticed, and so many of them seemed to have different ideas on how to approach matters to best please the Guardians. Nephi tended to remain a bit more secretive in comparison to a lot of the Squires, but perhaps it came with the territory. He had not been able to join them fully until more recently, which left him with a lot of catching up to do...
He glanced out to the tree, nodding. "The faun will likely be the easier of the two to locate. If we happen to find naiad on the way, that is even better." With that, Nephi delayed no longer, waiting for Genesis' signal before heading out onto the platform. When they arrived on the Isle, he took wing and flew off in the direction of the tree, looking for some faun they could approach...

Genesis took to flight as well. As always, she kept herself on high alert for anything suspicious. She was also keeping her golden gaze on the ground in search of either naiad or faun. The female was silent for a long time, between her focus and her own thoughts about how close they could safely get to the tree without arousing suspicions. Then her mind slipped back to their quest for items. For a moment, Genesis took her attention off scouting to ask Nephi a question: "Have you had any thoughts on the other items?" She asked simply as they flew towards their destination. Genesis knew almost without a doubt that she had the right sword, but she was not certain at all about the wooden stick she had retrieved from fae clearing based off a hunch that an unfamiliar pae had.

It was easy for Nephi to stay quiet, almost disturbingly so. He didn't make a sound, even seeming to glide instead of outright fly as he watched out for anyone that might be susceptible to their words.
It was only when Genesis spoke aloud that he gave any hint that he was even still present, making a small, "Hm?" sound as he turned his attention over to his fellow Squire companion.
The other two relics? Yes, the Earth and Water relics were indeed fairly obvious. He supposed Air and Fire were the true questions, especially as, so far as he knew, there was no one who walked with such odd alignments. However they gained these items, they would have to gain them from where they might have been sitting for a long time, or perhaps even create them themselves.
The Air one, he was pretty sure he had figured out. "Air is represented by a Sword, yes? But it cannot be any old sword, or we would be plenty prepared. I suspect that the Sword must be from a long forgotten place, perhaps? Up high, where the air would have more power than the Earth."
The wooden rod was much more complex--especially since, like the Air sword, he presumed it could not just be any old wooden stick. "Fire I am less certain about, I admit." Nephi pursed his lips. "Perhaps it is a special wood? Wood that may be influenced by the surroundings. I would initially think that strange tree the faun live in, but then, that would be Earth, wouldn't it? Perhaps there is another location."
If Genesis had asked him, she must have been thinking on the matter herself. It would not hurt to get some extra ideas from the other Squire. Perhaps, together, they could figure out what the Guardians wished for them to collect. "What are your thoughts on the matter, Genesis?"

Genesis' head was bobbing in agreement with everything he said, it had seemed like their thoughts were almost perfectly in line. "I have had the same thoughts. I found an old battlefield up in the mountains." Genesis shared. "I do not think I could tell you its exact location, but it was on a relatively flat plane." Genesis divulged with her fellow squire, in hopes to assist him. "I was hoping you might have more intel on the fire... I was introduced to a theory by one pae, that the wood in Fae Clearing might have magical properties. But this pae was common and a stranger at that." She shrugged her shoulders and shook her head, hoping she had not tainted his thoughts with a possibly false theory. Genesis was the type who would keep investigating for more information on a fire relic until the was certain she had the right item. It did at least make Genesis feel some sort of relief that she wasn't the only one being stumped by the fire relic. Perhaps that was why the guardians had included the other pae... they had some insight that the, slightly sheltered, squires did not.

So she did know something of Air! The moment she started speaking of the Air location, he started mentally taking it down. A flat plane in the Mountains fit exactly with the idea that he was thinking, and an old, forgotten battlefield fit perfectly with the idea of an abandoned place long forgotten. That fit. Nephi did not have a doubt in his mind about Genesis being correct about the Air relic--it fit perfectly.
If she already had the relic, he would have to venture there at some point on his own.
Wood in the ... Fae ... Clearing.
Huh.
"That actually might fit," murmured Nephi, thoughtfully, despite her shaking her head. "If we buy into the myth of there being magic there, wood from there may indeed have some sort of magical property that fits what the Guardians wish for us to get, if you would." That required buying into the idea that there was actually some level of magic in the Fae Clearing, though, and that troubled Nephi. The only things that could be of true magic were the Guardians, and they granted the most favor to the Angels and Demons.
Still, if it was ever the Guardians' will to grant the faeries one magical place, it was not his place to question it. The Guardians' will was his way.
"It may be worth gathering wood from there, if just as back up." It raised some questions, but it seemed to have more merit than his Tree-related theory, considering that the Earth element had already been handled by the coin they had to collect.

Seiana_ZI [You wanted to provide the Naiad, right? I can provide Rainbow Dash and Spitfire if we need two unsuspecting faun] Genesis' eyes widened, she hadn't even thought about the prospects that it was only a myth that Fae Clearing might be magical at all. Let alone the wood. Genesis spent a moment mentally beating herself up about it, but it seemed like despite this it could still be a reasonable theory. It was still all they had for now, until they found someone wiser about the fire element. Returning her thoughts to the task at hand for collecting an item from several of the heretics, Genesis scanned the land thoroughly. "Perhaps we should touch down." They might be at a higher vantage point up here to see others, but they were also high enough up to be seen. As they got closer to the tree, it seemed to Genesis that it would be more inconspicuous to travel by foot.

Not only was it all they had, it might have been the only thing they had.
If everything else was eliminated, no matter how improbable it was, it had to be the truth. Alternatively, they just hadn't found everything else yet... Either way, he was going to get some wood from the Fae Clearing, himself. Hopefully it was correct, or at least, he found some clues to something else in the interim. Hopefully, if Genesis heard different, she would tell him as well.
For now, though, they needed to keep their heads in the current task, and Genesis appeared to agree. They were definitely getting closer to the tree, and while it was slower by foot, they would also be more obvious if they continued to stay as the crow flied. Nephi nodded in agreement, pointing to a clear place to touch down, before heading down in that direction, quickly making a landing.
When he made his landing, he checked to make sure all of his important items were still on his person, specifically touching his hands to his belt to check for the small daggers he kept in hilts at his sides. Good.
"Are you ready, Genesis?"Wolfs Heart I have at least Zuri that could help; thinking about it more, I don't think either of my naiad Aysu or Okeanos would have a cup. Hm...

Seiana_ZI [I suppose my Dysmas might have one since he has "sworn himself" to the elemental faction?] Genesis' gaze followed to where Nephi had pointed, and she gave a nod of understanding before following him to land there. After Nephi asked her if she was ready, Genesis stood perfectly still for a moment, allowing herself to listen to and take in her surroundings. She didn't hear anything that seemed out of the ordinary, so she nodded her head. "Ready," she knew everything else was still on her person. Once that was settled, Genesis began marching on quietly across the land. After walking a short while, Genesis began to hear the dull murmur of other voices. She held up her hand in a stop signal to Nephi and pointed to her ear. As she looked around trying to pin a direction that the voices were coming from.

Nephi and Genesis ventured ahead, Nephi's eyes darting around for any sudden movements from either faun or naiad. He did not readily see anything, though as they moved, he started to catch something soft that may not just have been the whispering of the bitter winds. It seemed Genesis caught it too.
When she told him to stop, Nephi stopped as directed, taking a defensive stance as Genesis crept forward.Wolfs Heart That could work. I have two faun, Cheyenne and Flitter? Maybe Flitter (who's a fauny) could be with a fauny of yours? Then you wouldn't be playing the majority of the elementals. XD (Also, this post is abysmally small sorry)

Genesis turned to make sure Nephi was following her as she walked. She decided to walk forward as normal, although her steps were much lighter. The angel wasn't necessarily ready to be heard by whoever they were approaching, but she didn't want to look suspicious if they spotted her. Two of these new faunies. Genesis had seen them one other time before when they had arrived in mass migration on Telrunya. She was not certain how she felt about them yet. They were from distant shores so they might not be proclaiming the same heresies that the normal faun were, but she had yet to determine this. They seemed harmless enough from what she was currently observing as they conversed and walked. She looked at Nephi, hoping they were both as ready as they thought they were. Rainbow Dash stretched out her wings, pulling them in and pushing them out several times. "Man, I don't know. I've been getting wing cramps like crazy lately. I've been stretching and everything." The fauny sighed as she spoke to her companion, Flitter. "I've been thinking about going to talk to Zecora about it." Her voice was loud and obnoxious, as if she didn't have a fear in the world. It was no wonder that she was now being overheard.

Flitter was naturally a little more subdued than Rainbow Dash had ever been, but that didn't stop her from enjoying the company of the other. It wasn't the first time that Flitter had hung around Rainbow Dash--back in Equestria, Flitter often found herself crossing paths with her and her friends, though it wasn't by any particular means that it kept happening.
She hadn't gotten to talk to her more regularly until recently, though, and she found despite being so ... brash, Rainbow was actually a pretty good fauny!
"Maybe it's the weather?" offered Flitter, helpfully, gathering her arms under her chest and shivering to point out how cold it was. "It's not very nice out here, might make a lot of fauny feel stiff... Myself included." As much as Flitter wanted to explore, she barely had wanted to come outside today at all. It was far too cold, even nearby the general warmth and safety of Laisidhiel's branches.
Perhaps that was a premonition of something else to come...?
Nephi took the whole situation very seriously. He had run into a few things that looked like these fauny, himself, near the cave. This had given him a greater reason to be naturally suspicious of them--why were they there? What reason had they for being attracted to such a place? Were they aware of more than they should have been, able to slip into the Light defenses due to their occasional resemblance to the light?
No matter the circumstance, the fauny certainly did not look like they expected anything, but Nephi knew better than to fully expect this to go without a hitch. He was prepared, gaze determined as he watched the fauny pair. One of them had ... particularly bright hair...
To Genesis, he nodded, jerking his head in the direction of the fauny.
