• What would you do if I flew away?
What if wings grew from my back,
    and feathers from my arms?
    Would you call out my
    name to the heavens above?
    Would you cry at night,
    when shadows whisper?
    Would you not care,
    and forget my face?
    Would you wait?
    Would you run?
    Would you hide
    or leave?
    If I asked, would you
    come along?
    Let me carry you
    across the sea,
    past the stars
    and away from
    this world?
    What if I said no,
what if I said you were
    too heavy, to weighted
    for me to hold?
    Would you grow wings
    to follow me?
    Would you chase my shadow
    cross the plains?
    Once, I knew you
    would.
    But time warps
    such things.
    Now I wonder,
    what will you do
    when I grow wings
    and fly away from
    here?
