• I took off running,
    Clutching my twins hand tightly,
    Never once looking back
    My twin whimpered
    Shedding tears, streaking her face,
She tripped trying to keep up with me
The smell of smoke wafted through the air
    Our faces were blackened,
    Our clothes were shredded,
Our skin was cut and burned,
Pain and fear was all we felt,
    The terror of this night
    We trusted them,
    We relied on them,
    Then they betrayed us,
    Setting fire to our house,
Our small village collapsing to the ground,
The screams that sounded through the night,
    Filled with terror and shock,
    Before the screams they stopped,
People dropped down, death had come,
Their eyes wide and showed uttermost confusion,
    We had escaped from them,
Escaping the fire, the smell of decay,
But most of all, escaped our death
The betrayers left no one alive,
    Left nothing standing,
They were probably searching for us,
    But we would run,
    Hide,
    And survive,
Our family and friends are dead,
    Everyone is gone,
    Everyone except us,
    We were the last two,
    We survived the night,
    Escaping the betrayers,
    But we were alone,
    Me and my twin
    No more screams,
    No more family,
    No more friends,
    No more death,
    No more fumes,
    But there were more betrayers,
    We could never escape,
    Never trust anyone,
    Never be free,
We had to defend for ourselves,
    Had to struggle for survival,
    We were,
    All alone
