• Life After Death

    The shadows weigh down,
    but the light shines ahead.
This is the final chapter, the eulogy,
    The end.

    I’m rushing through the atmosphere,
Past the planets and the sun.
My life, what seemed so long but was oh so short,
    Is now, at last, done.

I leave the suffering far behind,
Never to feel it, to have it, again.
    My hideous shell of a body is gone;
    All my faults at amends.

    What’s left is only beauty,
What had been planned since the start.
Created in the image of perfection,
    A true work of art.

As I ascend to the heavens,
I see those who beat me here:
    Family, friends, former enemies too,
They all notice me, and they all start to cheer.

Never have I been this truly happy,
Not in this life that was, in truth, a mess.
And this is how I’ll remain forever-
In this perfect life after death.
