• Childhood memories,
    Of dancing in the starlight,
    Fill my mind today.

    I open the book,
    The old photo album and,
    Stare at the pictures.

    Faded from the years,
    Of sitting in their plastic
    Sleaves, untouched, unviewed.

    I gaze at myself,
At who I was years ago,
    Oh, how I have changed!

    Longing for winter,
And for blankets of white snow,
    That were missed last year.

    Snowmen with warm scarves,
    But snow angels fly away,
    As the flakes come down.

    Curled up near a fire,
With a mug of hot cocoa,
    Watching old sitcoms.

    But it has not snowed,
Last year, or the year before,
    Here in my hometown.

    I miss my childhood,
    Before global warming,
    And puberty came.
