• History of the grim angels

In a time remembered only by the eldest life forums, A war shook the foundations of the known world between the two original gods. Holy and Dark. One now rules the heavens as the other is locked away in the pits of hell yet, before this happened neither one was good nor one evil. During the neutral times each created their first life forums, pure uncorrupted life forums capable of free will and the choice to follow the light or dark. This bore the humans and Grim Angels. Humans with huge numbers and the ability to evolve the world around them as Grim Angels had few numbers yet everlasting life, youth, supreme strength and flight. The war raged with the gods as on ground Humans and Grim Angels faced off, the humans and Holy eventually emerging victorious by sealing Dark in a new world, Hell, the shadow cast by the throne of heaven. Humans were left in the middle, the universe, Earth. Grim Angels were abandoned by Dark, left with the humans yet over time the Grim Angels formed the Council made of the eldest to lead them and over time the humans lost all memory of them. Now they hide in plain sight, normal jobs, normal friends and a second life of hunting Darks second creations, the corrupted Demons, his obedient dark servants. In the early years of the 21st century their numbers start to increase and the council gives one statement. This is our home and we will protect it!

Chapter I: A night time battle. Four grim angels, a party of power.

I am Shadanto, one of the oldest Grim Angels who fought in the war. Know to most as Shad I hunt demons by night. This is my story, the story of how the world fell into darkness and we pulled it right back.
The year is 2016 and we are deep into winter. I’m stationed in a small town in England which has recently been built as a Grim Angel sanctuary, the council building rests in the centre camouflaged as a church. This is surrounded by tall buildings hosting jobs for both humans and Grim Angels and away from them are the housing areas. Tham-On-Time was the name given to the town or Tham for short. North east from the main city of London and about 40 miles inland from the coast Tham, at this time of year, didn’t play host to the most desirable of weather and on a foggy night my story begins.
The night was young yet the chills and darkness of winter had settled in, I was on the hunt for a renegade Demon that went by the name of Kones. A Demon of his power would normally take a full team to take down yet mine was currently unavailable which left me with the disadvantage. I walked through the streets with my head down, a few drops of rain pouring from my ash blonde hair down my neck. I pulled my hood up on my black coat and put my hands in my pockets to keep warm. Groups of people walking around talking and trying to keep warm made me feel safer knowing Kones would less likely attack until I was alone. I turned into an alleyway, escaping the light of the busy streets to lure him out. The surrounding buildings blocked most of the incoming rain yet the smell was less than pleasant, garbage bags thrown around which could have been there any number of weeks. Taking a deep breath I cast this aside and wondered deeper into the labyrinth of back alleys. Hands still tucked into the pockets of my black baggy jeans I trod forth, the rain drops splashing on my shoes, socking through my coat onto my gray t-shirt. I let out a shiver and asked myself why I always get left to do jobs when it’s like this. Ignoring the voice in the back of my head I pressed on, deeper into the alleys, far away from where anyone could be caught in cross fire until I came to an open area. Graffiti on the walls around me and a hoop attached to the wall I seemed to of found a hidden game area made by the local teens. The rain slowly turned to a mist as the area started to feel hostile; I could feel his eyes watching me.
“So you’ve been brought to the level of hiding from me have you?” I said out loud. There was no response but the feeling of hostility increased. The mist thickened around me limiting my field of vision, he wasn’t taking the risk. “This is boring me Kones!” I shouted as I turned around watching my back. Focusing my energy I summoned my weapon, Ganthort, the lighting shaped blade. Ganthort was my first Soul Eater, the chosen weapons of Grim Angels. Upon killing a Demon these could be used to absorb a portion of their power or in some cases taking new skills. Circling the area slowly, watching for shadows I knew he was on the move. The smell of the trash lingered in the moist air, the wind blew gently down the entrance alley and the only sounds heard were my feet scratching across the floor. Alien sounds soon echoed around me, footsteps not of my own slowly rummaged around me just out of view. The hunt was over, now it came down to who made the first attack. Slowly the mist became thinner and I could track the shadow stalking me, he made his attack throwing three rocks scattered around towards me. A rough attack made to knock my defense away but demons all fight the same so I just stepped to the side yet this wasn’t my lucky day. Kones took no time in his forward assault and dashed right at me, fist raised high, crashing down. I tried to jump away but his speed caught me and he easily grabbed my leg, spun me around and threw me down onto the floor cracking the pavement.
“Boring you am I?” a shallow voice echoed. I stood up and dusted myself off.
“Yes you are. I was expecting a harder throw” I gathered my thoughts and looked up at Kones; he had a muscled up body and a long tongue hanging out of his mouth, his glowing yellow eyes looking through me like I was ready to eat. “What I don’t understand little demon” I moved my head to the side avoiding a roughly thrown punch. “Is why you’re here?”
“How have you fools caught on yet? We’re going to take this world over. This world, the bridge between us and the angels, we will tear through this place and retake what we lost!”
“You lost nothing. You’re not old enough to have lost heaven. How have you fools not caught on yet that you’re puppets?” With A smile on my face, I stood upright, blade pointing towards my prey. “If you were the devil himself your argument would be valid but you’re just a bug. This ‘bridge’ you call us is ours and the humans and I will die before I see it over run with you shadows of hell”
The wind was the only thing that was heard as Kones tried to process a counter but I knew this wasn’t going to happen. The time for action was upon us and I had knocked his confidence off. He looked up at me and set charge. I stepped to the side and block the follow up jab with the side of Ganthort, I countered with a quick slice which he jumped over, crashing into the floor cracking it under my feet, knocking me off balance. I looked up all too late as Kones appeared in front of me and smashed his fist in to my gut, pushing me off the floor. Gritting my teeth I push back in time to block the second blow with my arm and push myself into the air. I spun around, throwing you coat of and revealing my wings, huge black red tinting wings that all Grim Angels have. Taking to the sky I stayed a little over the battle field.
“Had enough?” Kones screamed as he caught my coat and shredded it.
“Well now you wrecked my coat I guess seconds are in order.” I took a step forward ready to charge yet I was disturbed. Another black winged figure landed in front of Kones and before either of us notice struck his chest with a glowing red lance. The boiling lance filled the area with sounds of cooking flesh.
    “Taking your time Shad.”
‘Bout time you got here!’ I gasped.
‘Yeah. Sorry bout that.’ Slifer said smiling, his black hair moving in the wind. He threw of his black long coat. He was wearing a grey shirt with a red dragon on it witch looked like it was wrapping itself around Slifer, black jeans that weren’t tight yet not baggy and black trainers with a red mark down the sides .He was holding his red Soul eater in one hand.
‘Cant believe you held out for this long by your self Shad.’ He said to me in a cocky voice. I licked my tongue out at him.
‘Yeah longer than you could of Slifer.’ I replied smiling. Slifer and I were like the perfect friends and the biggest rivals. Always testing to see who the best was and yet never falling out.
‘Angels!’ Kones shouted. I got to my feet and brushed my self off and summoned my second Soul eater, identical to the first yet now I had two weapons and I am a lot more deadly with them both.
‘Yes?’ Slifer and me said together. Kones was worried now; you could see it in his eyes. He was worried with just me there but now Slifer was here to. Kones jumped at us with his fist clenched. I jumped to the right and Slifer to the left as Koneses fist hit the floor. Slifer came down with his lance but Kones jumped back. I moved behind him as he landed and forced my left diviner in to Koneses arm and moved from behind him.
Kones was screaming in pain as a flaming arrow flew past my head and a four star shrunken past Slifers. They connected in Koneses open mouth and he fell to the floor, lifeless and bleeding. I turned around to see Pathinne standing on the remains of a wall with her Soul eater bow. Bish was next to her with two shrunken in each hand. These two mainly used long range combat weapons. Pathinne can summon arrows at will and her soul eater looks like a lightning shaped bow only red. Bish can summon shrunken at will and they are black with four points on each. Pathinne also uses her bow in close combat as Bish tends to use martial arts.
‘Well that was fun.’ Bish said lowering his hands and un-summoning his shrunken. His normal get up being his long coat fully covering his clothing with baggy blue jeans on and a blue shirt with white lines down the side.
‘Yeah some party.’ I replayed looking at him. ‘You could have come sooner. If it was not for Slifer I would be dead.’
‘That maybe but what does not kill you can only make you stronger.’ Pathinne added. She never had her long coat on. She used essence to hide her wings from human eyes and wore black sleeveless t-shirt longish black skirt and huge boots with plates of metal on the end. I looked around at my team all with serious looks on there faces. I looked down quickly and put my long coat back on.
‘I’m going home.’ I said. ‘We will report this to the grim angel council tomorrow now leave before the humans see this.’ And with that we all vanished. With our speed it sometimes looks like we vanish.
I woke with a start sat up quick and banged my head on the wall.
‘AA damn it.’ I muttered rubbing my head. Looking around my room, my guitar lying on the floor and wires every ware connected to the small pc in my corner and sighed. One of my lose hard drives had fallen off the table wakening me. . I got up, had a shower, got changed and ate my breakfast before leaving the house. I walked down the street past the humans talking about everyday things. I over herd some saying they saw a huge red thing last night and I couldn’t help but smile to myself. Unknown to the humans we were fighting to save there plaint, even though they would most likely kill us out of fear. I walked into my normal shop.
‘Hey Shad.’ The shopkeeper said turning through his newspaper.
‘Morning Flare. What you got for me today?’ I asked opening the fridge and getting out a few bottles of milk. Flare was a fighter in the first war. He didn’t look like much but he had a kick to him but after losing half of his left hand index finger the council put him in charge of this shop to sell items to grim angles and be a fast messenger. Even now he is still called out to take down the occasional demon.
‘Well I know you like your strong stuff so I have this 80% vodka. Just got it but thought I would save it for you.’
‘Thanks Flare.’ I said putting my food supplies down and opening my wallet.
‘No problem. Get home safe yeah? And say hi to Daygon for me’ he said as I passed him my money and bagged my things.
‘As always. See you later buddy.’ I replied as leavening the shop opening a chocolate bar and digging in as I headed home.
Throwing all my things into the fridge, I lay back on the couch and turned on the T.V.
‘Wonder what time the guy’s want me.’ I said to myself picking up a pad and powering on my game console. Even these human contraptions can entertain me for hours. Just as it started up my phone went off with a message on the screen.
‘Shad, were all heading to the church now. See you shortly. Slifer’ I sighed and put my pad on the table.
‘No rest for the wicked.’ I muttered as I put my coat on, grabbed a ham sandwich and headed off.
I took the forest path to the lost church south of the town. The trees were blowing in the wind and the sun was shining bright through the branches. I was whistling to myself when a twig behind me broke. I spun around to be meet by nothing but shadows. I continued to walk and I herd another sound like a rock been kicked but yet again, only shadows. I summoned my Soul eater inside my long coat so no one could see it. I continued to walk and I turned behind a tree and vanished, repapering in another tree not to far away on full look out.
‘You’re to slow Shad.’ A voice said. I pulled my Soul eater out and swung it behind me only to connect with Slifers lance. I jumped out of the tree and threw of my long coat.
‘I say best out of three today.’ I said.
‘So be it.’ Slifer replied jumping towards. I summoned a second Soul eater and flew to Slifer bringing my right Soul eater down and my left to the side. Slifer spun his lance and blocked my two attacks before he swung for my head. I pushed back still in the air and his lance went past my face; I could feel the wind from it. I flew once more, spread my arms out and started to spin making myself in to a huge spinning blade. I connected to Slifers lance and I stopped spinning pulling off blow after blow as he blocked each one. He pushed me back and went on the offensive as I went to the defence. He flipped over me still attacking as I bent back to carry blocking. He went for a stab but I hit the lance down and placed my foot on it. I went for a cut but he jumped back pulling his lance from under me. I put my swords up and he held his lance with the blade pointing down.
‘Well done Shad.’ He said putting his lance into the ground.
‘Thank you Slifer’ I said putting my arms down in ease. ‘You have got a lot stronger.’ I added smiling shaking his hand.

Chapter II: The lost church. Meeting up of old comrades.

I walked with Slifer the rest of the way to the church, Talking and laughing on the way. I always felt happy around Slifer even when we were fighting. We arrived at the lost church about ten minutes later to find Bish and Pathinne waiting for us.
‘Bout time you two got here. Were you fighting in the forest again?’ Pathinne asked leaning forward with her hands on her hips looking annoyed. I scratched the back of my head as I smiled at her.
‘Well you know what we’re like’ I said to her as she stood up straight and walked over to Slifer falling into his arms crying. They were a couple, been like that since the war. She hated our rivalry because she fears for our health. I walked over to Bish.
‘Shall we wait for them or should we just enter?’ I asked him.
‘May as well just go in.’ He replied, walking towards the huge door. I opened it only to be met with the sight of an old friend.
    ‘Hello Shad.’ Soul said.
‘Hello.’ I replied looking him over. His new style was a black tuxedo jacket, black tuxedo jeans, black tuxedo shoes and small black lens glasses ‘What are you doing here?’
‘Came to report on the last angel I took down.’
‘An angel…by your self! Wow!’ Bish added with a look or pure amassment on his face.
‘Yeah. Piece of cake.’ Soul said looking at Bish. Angels were much stronger than demons. I mean a lot stronger. ‘Of course I had a little help from my new apprentice.’ He added looking at Slifer, a burn of hate deep in his eye.
‘Wait a minute did you not leave us to become a solo slayer and now you have an apprentice.’ I said enraged with the fact he left us and found someone else after all we had been through. ‘I mean come on…you were the strongest in our team and now because of you ******** off were having lots of trouble. You do know if we don’t do a good enough job the grim angels will class us as useless and have us dead by weeks end.’ I explained shaking my head.
‘Yes but from what I have herd you guys are holding out on your own. The grim angels have no plans to banish you.’ Soul answered still looking cool as if nothing was bothering him.
‘Now now…old comrades must not fight like this.’ A deep voice from inside explained. Soul got down on one knee. ‘Yes sir. I am very sorry’ He said as an old looking man came out holding a wood staff. He was bending down a bit and was warring long black priest like clothing and was holding a cane which he was using to walk on. He had long grey hair and his eyes had no color, just like white balls in his head. This was Daygon (day-gone) leader of the grim angels in this area. One of the all mighty council. Soul stood up and looked at us.
‘I bid you farewell for today old friends.’ He said as he walked through me and Bish. I watched him walk past a tree as a female grim angel jumped to his side and followed him out of sight. I turned to Daygon.
‘We have taken down Kones and Flare says hi.’
‘Well done team. Unlucky for you we have no sightings of demons or angels that you can chase right now. We will inform you I there is any new news. Tell flare to report back to me as soon as he can next time you see him as well Shad.’ Daygon said looking around at us. I turned to the team. Slifer had calmed Pathinne down and Bish was throwing a shrunken at a tree hitting the same spot every time.
‘Ok team you herd the guy. No demons for us so we may as well go home. Keep your ears and eyes open for any news and report every day.’ Slifer turned to Pathinne who whispered ‘Bout time we had a few days off.’ Bish turned to me saying ‘Ok Shad.’ And with that we all walked our sprat ways.
About an hour later an arrived back home. I threw my coat on the floor and sat down. I leaned back, shut my eyes and turned my music on with a click of my fingers.
‘Yet another few days with no work. No angel work and no human work. This should be fun.’ I muttered as I fell asleep.
On the other side of the city Slifer and Pathinne were walking through the woods. The wind was blowing in there hair and the trees were rustling. It was always warm in the woods. Pathinne looked at Slifer who was looking at the trees.
‘What are you thinking about?’ She asked him
‘Shads new move. Took me by surprise. Nice spin that pumped up the power and he lunched in to a combo right after.’ Slifer replayed.
‘For ******** sake Slifer this has to stop.’ She snapped out.
‘Wa?’ Slifer peeped a little taken back.
‘The thing with Shad. Your letting this rivalry take you over.’
    ‘It’s only a little bit of fu…’
‘Fun! Look at you! We finally get some time off and all you can talk about is fighting with Shad’ Pathinne shouted pushing Slifer back. He grabbed her arms and forced her into a tree his eyes open wide like a psycho about to kill.
‘This is my fight and I will win! I’m the strongest.’ He said in a crazed voice. Pathinne slapped him across the face leavening a huge red mark. Slifer looked up at her. Realizing what he had just done he put her down and faced the floor.
‘I’m sorry.’ He said as Pathinne brushed herself off.
‘I think you should leave and come back to me when the Slifer I know and love is back.’ She whispered in his ear as she left him standing there.
Bish arrived home and sat by the fridge as one thought went through his mind…’I need food...my pizza has gone bad.’
The next day I awoke yet again banging my head on the shelf above my bed. ‘God damn it I really need to move that.’ I said as I rolled out of bed. I got changed and ate some food when I herd a knock at the door. I could feel something wasn’t right so I didn’t answer. A few minuets later the knock came again only this time really loud. I went over and opened the door a little to see no one. I closed it but the second it closed the knock returned. I opened the door full on, nice and wide and jumped out looking around. There was no one. I turned to go back in as I saw a shadow in my room. I ran in summoning my Soul eater but still there was nothing there.
‘Where are you?’ I said out loud. There was a knock at the door again then my TV turned on as my guitar fell over. I jumped out of the door again looking for anything moving yet this time it was only noises all around me. A whisper in my ear said ‘And now all shell die’ as the floor under me exploded and all the peoples body’s flew by my face. Slifer flew in and landed by my side.
‘What are you doing Shad? We protect not destroy!’ He shouted at me
‘You think I did this you moron? Open your senses and you will find out that something else is here.’ I said to him but he dint want any of it. He threw me up against the wall and repeatedly punched me all over at light speed. I couldn’t take it, I launched my leg into his face and as he let go I pushed my self of the wall grabbing around his chest throwing us both through the wall into the street. I put my arm on his neck.
‘Stop been so rash Slifer!’ I shouted. ‘Open your senses’ I added.
‘Why Shad? Why did you do this’ He asked.
‘How many times do I have to repeat myself?’ I shouted as punching him in the face. He flipped in the air and looked at me…there was something different about him but before I got a hold of him he flew off into the distance.
Chapter III: I can’t tell the difference.

I ran back into the building getting any living people out.
‘Damn it what a mess.’ I said to my self. Luckily we have a grim angel in the council who erases memories and repairers our mess almost in an instant and true to this the building flash and were once more in one peace. The humans walked back in as if nothing had happened. I went back to my room, picked my coat up and left to see Daygon. I walked through the forest passing Bish who was training once more. I arrived at the church to see Daygon already waiting for me.
‘I know what happened but you must deal with this your self. We have no information about this demon or angel.’ He said to me.
‘What? Pardon my rudeness but that crazy mother ******** just blew my house up and Slifer came in blaming me.’ I shouted.
‘That can’t be true. He has been with me all day.’ A voice from behind said. I turned to see Pathinne under Slifers arm. Slifer just had the most confused look on his face.
‘An intimidator?’ I said to Daygon
‘Most likely. Looks like you have a new mission. Take him out. Good luck.’ He said walking back into the church. I turned to Slifer and smiled.
‘He’s not as strong as you so we will be fine.’ I said to him as we set of to get Bish.
‘Yeah but you could still have a little bit of faith in me Shad.’ He relied
‘Hey 100% of my mind was on your side.’
‘Right’ He said as we linked back up with Bish.
‘So what’s the mission?’ He asked as we walked back out of the forest.
‘An intimidator. Last time I saw him my apartment block went up in flames and he was using Slifer as A look alike.’ I explained.
    ‘Wow that’s new.’ Bish replied.
‘Yeah but as you might know even with there low power it’s almost imposable to tell the real from the fake.’ Pathinne added.
‘Yeah and this one must have damn good taste looking like me.’ Slifer commented as we all looking at him and burst out laughing.
‘Ok team split, look for and sign of our target and call for help.’ I said as we all vanished in different directions. I was flying on the out skirts of town when someone caught my eye. I flew down landing behind a rock throwing my coat over my wings as I hit the ground. I walked around only to be met by soul.
‘Hello Shad. What brings you here?’ He asked nice and calm his longish black hair blowing in the wind.
‘None of your business soul. Maybe if you had not abandoned us out of your jealousy then I might be willing to tell you.’ I replied as I turned and started to walk off.
‘It’s not my fault’ He shouted to me as I came to a halt. ‘Slifer…he’s just so lucky to have someone and you are two much alike.’ I turned to face him.
‘So what? Get over it. All the power you have and you let your emotions get over you. Just because the one you once loved died in the war.’ I said as his head flew up.
‘And what do you know of that? The pain I felt as I held her and felt her last breath leave her body, that you will never know!’
‘I know pain…even if I have yet to find the one I love I still know the pain. Living for an eternity with no one not even memories…no good ones anyway…’ I said as I jumped into the air flying away before I said more that what’s needed.
I made a few more sweeps of the city with no sight of anything so I landed on a skyscraper in the middle of the city, tucking my wings under my coat and leaned back. Opening one eye as soul and his apprentice flew past. She was a little bit smaller than me with long blonde hair down her back and a cute face, the normal red eyes. Dressed in a black sleeveless t-shirt that shows her mid riff and light blue jeans slightly ripped at the bottom and to top I off some black slip on shoes with a red upside down Y on the front. They flew past and I leaned forward and let out a little sigh. I looked down the streets watching the humans go about there daily lives. How lucky they are not to have our job. I looked down a few more streets when there was a puff of dust down one ally. I looked as the dust cleared to see Bish’s hand been blocked by…me.
‘Well looks like I found him.’ I said as I jumped off the sky scraper. I sped up and ran vertical down the wall launching myself into an arrow like state near the bottom. I sped towards the intimidator and launched my leg at the speed of sound at his head. The sonic boom was hired all around as my leg turned into a blur connecting with the intimidators head. Its body spun around and skidded down the pavement. I went to run at it when Bish grabbed me.
‘This ones mine. His power is useful to me.’ He said. When demons or angels have a strange ability there soul can be absorbed and then the absorber gets that ability plus the strength of the enemy added on to there’s hence why our weapons are called soul eaters. Bish took one step forward and the demon split into 3 all the same now turned into Bish. They all charged at each other and connected fists flying all over when one Bish jumped back and threw a wave of shrunken as the other three blocked.
‘Impressive...physical body split with out losing power’ I said to myself as I leaned against a wall to observe the fight. Bish jumped up as the other 3 followed all throwing a volley of shrunken up. Bish flipped launching his own shrunken all over the street. I jumped behind a wall to avoid getting hit when Slifer touched down next to me.
‘Yo’ He said looking over to Bish. ‘Looks like he found some strong pray.’
‘Yeah but even with the three off them he’s holding out. The demon stands no chance’ I replied looking over as Bish rolled under a fakes leg throwing a shrunken in its crotch and it vanished back into the first body. The other two smiled and dashed into the air taking flight.
‘You think too much of his power.’ Slifer said to me as Bish also went into the air spinning his leg into one of the fakes head sending it into a wall.
‘I think what I have seen Slifer. You forget I have been with this guy for years and I have seen what he can do when the mood is right.’ I replayed as a shrunken hit a fakers head and exploded sending the Shad back to the last body. It turned around with a look of fear over its face. It kicked of a wall flew at Bish turning into me and summoning Ganthort.
‘Damn it that’s my weapon!’ I shouted but it was too late for the demon to care for Bish had vanished. I smiled and shut my eyes as Slifer looked around.
‘Waa where’s he gone?’ Slifer said when the demon started getting knocked around like a ping pong ball. Each time it changed direction the force of Bishes light speed move sending powerful blasts of wind every ware, one even knocking me and Slifer off our feet.
‘Told you so’ I said as shock filled Slifers face.
‘But…he…and…wow’ Slifer managed to work out as the demon flew past us, so beet up it could no longer move. A gust followed and I grabbed Bishes leg stopping his light speed combo.
‘Hey chill man. Just finish the job’ I said
‘Ok ok. Just wanted some fun’ He replied as he summoned a shuriken and walked over to the demon. ‘Thanks for your power’ He said as he threw it through its head as it screamed in pain before getting sucked into the shuriken and giving Bish its power.
‘To easy’ Bish whispered as he walked past Slifer who had a mix of amassment and hate in his eye. If I had to say Bish was stronger than Slifer and now he knew that. Bish looked down at his hands.
‘So now I can body split…not bad.’
‘What do you mean ‘not bad’?’ Slifer shouted out at him.
‘As in it’s not a bad power.’ Bish replied without raising his voice.
‘The ********!’ Have you watched yourself fighting? You strong enough and with that your basically overkill.’
‘What’s wrong Slifer? Jealous that someone else has more power than you?’
Slifer’s teeth gritted together and I walked in between them and looked at Slifer.
‘You two behave. Slifer you need to chill mate. Power isn’t everything.’ I said.
‘If it isn’t everything why are you still looking for ‘her’?’
‘That’s something that Bish doesn’t need to hear OR something I wish to talk about.’ I replied quickly. Slifer smiled and I felt a drop of rain on my nose. I looked up and it had started raining. I closed my eyes and smiled as Slifer looked at me confused.
‘Hey Shad wake up.’ He said poking my arm.
‘Sorry….’ I stated opening my eyes. ‘I’m off…Slifer…calm down brother’ I said before nodding at Bish and jumping into the air and taking flight.

Chapter IV: The past is not so easily forgot.

The rain picked up as the night went on as I stood in my room looking out of the open window, my black cartons blowing in by face.
‘Maybe I should go to a more…cozy place’ I said to myself as I turned and left the room. Lightning started and the rain became heavier as I reached the human church and perched myself on one of the gargoyles. Leaning back and looking up at the violent sky…it reminded me of a time…the time forgot by all but me and Slifer. I closed my eyes; I could remember it like it had just happened.
I was standing in the old council room with Slifer. The era was roman times and Slifer had gold amour on…MOST of the grim angel had this on. He looked over to me and nodded.
‘She stole your power and betrayed us all…she will pay.’ He said to me.
‘And to think I had the idea she loved me…when all she wanted was the power of the first soul eater…’ I replied with my fists clenched.
‘Well she didn’t get it all. Maybe we still have a chance to beat her.’
‘Maybe but we know she was strong to start with. as well as her speed. To blood seal me so fast before I woke up…and that detailed to make sure it wouldn’t fail…that’s skilful.’
‘Yeah yeah stop making the enemy sound good Shad. I’m not looking forward to this at all. I know the power you had and if she has enough then were finished.’
The wall to the right of us creaked and Ganthort was summoned as Slifer summoned his lance. We looked at the wall, shivering in fear. So afraid it felt like our heads would explode, the thirst for my blood…for all our blood. She was insane and as long as she was out there…with my power…nothing is safe. The floor under us smashed and the black haired grim angel threw us up into the air and with one out burst of power turned the council chamber to ashes. The force of the attack hit me and I was sent into the air, the rain heavy and the lightning crashing down.
I woke with a start as lightning hit a few meters away from me. Filled with rage of my past I threw my fist though the wall of the making a small crack before jumping down to the floor ready to head home. I turned my head slightly to see Souls apprentice was behind me.
    ‘Hello.’ She said.
‘Umm hi.’ I replied. She was just a bit smaller than me; her hair was all the way down her back, dripping, as the rain still hadn’t stopped.
‘You like the church to?’ She asked me.
‘It’s a nice place to come and think I guess. Never go in though.’
‘Why?’ she asked tilting her head a little to the side.
‘Not much for the whole ‘one all mighty’ thing’
    ‘Makes sense with our history’
‘Its not all about the history’
    ‘What do you mean?’
‘Guess I just have my own views on the world.’
‘That’s good to hear. Most people just follow blindly.’
    ‘What about you?’
    ‘What?’
    ‘Do you follow blindly?’
‘Kind of…it’s strange for me really’ She seamed taken back, as if he had never really thought if she just blindly follows orders or not.
She put her hand out ending my train of thought.
‘By the way my names Mas.’ I smiled and shook her hand
    ‘Names Shad.’
‘It’s a pleasure to hear your name from you instead of just Soul’ She looked up at me. ‘The night grows old though so I’m going to head off. Hopefully I will see you soon’ And with that she turned and walked off into the rain. I stood for a while looking down the path before turning around and heading back home to shower down, wash my now soaking wet clothes and get some shut eye.
The night passed slowly as Mas kept popping back into my mind. She seamed so familiar like I had met her before, more than just seen her Soul. In the end I got no sleep. Luckily I was off human and grim angel work for the day. A little stroke of luck I would say. I sat in my room and looked over at an old draw which I stored the vodka Flare gave me a few days back.
‘Damn it’s been so long since I had some of that.’ I thought to myself as I walked over and pulled a bottle of vodka out.
‘Mans best drunk I say.’ Pulling off the lid and taking a huge gulp. I shivered a little and sat back down looking at the label. 80% alcohol…that would have a bad effect on humans…and make a grim angel very very drunk. I took another mouth full and looked out of the window to see Slifer flying past. Smiling to see he’s still out and about I got to my feet and took a few more gulps of my bottle, opening the window and leaning out. Watching the humans go about there daily lives without a care in the world. There true history lost in time as we there first pray work behind the scenes to keep them safe from demons and angels. A small dog ran past as its owner shouted for help. I turned fast and dashed as a truck came around the corner towards the animal. As quick as I could I flew down and grabbed the dog pulling it to safety. I hid my wings quickly before they were noticed and turned to the owner.
‘Here is your dog. That was close.’ I said to her as I handed the small white fluffy poodle to her.
‘Thank you. I didn’t even see you get her out of the way.’
‘I’m a fast runner.’ I replied smiling as I turned and wondered off wavering behind me.
Looking back and took flight when I noticed there was nobody around. Its not the first time I have helped humans by showing up and I always did have the habit of helping those in need. I landed above the church from the other day and looked over the city as Mas came back into my mind. She seemed so familiar…if not as a person I used to know but something else and her power was just like mine. The same feeling as when I used to be at full power. I looked down at the floor as some people walked past talking and laughing. I smiled to myself, stud up and faced the church.
‘Home it is.’ I said falling backwards and taking flight heading back home. Landing on my window ledge I jumped onto the sofa and flipped one leg over the other as putting my hands over the back of my head. I sighed and looked up at the ceiling.
‘Still nothing to do?’ a voice said from my window. I turned to see Mas suspended in mid air.
‘Ummm no…how did you know I lived here?’ I asked
    ‘I followed you’
    ‘Why?’
‘Want to go for a walk?’ I looked at her.
    ‘What?’
‘A walk.’ she repeated as she smiled.
‘How about a fly?’ she smiled.
    ‘Sounds ok’
‘Ok then.’ I said getting to my feet as there was a knock on the door.
‘Shadanto time for work!’ Slifer said from the other side. I sighed and looked over at Mas.
    ‘Maybe another time.’
‘Sure.’ She said as she fell to the floor and walked off. I ran to the door and opened it to be met by my team. ‘The job?’
‘An old friend!’ Slifer replied. ‘Best be ready for the worse buddy. You of all people know she won’t go down so easy.’
