• The Mission

Naruto was sitting back, relaxing on the grass of his sunny home, Konoah. He had just returned from a mission that morning so he thought he might take a small break before he commenced his daily training.

Looking up at the sky Naruto watched with half lidded eyes as the clouds moved in the endlessly blue sky that matched the colour of his eyes. The slight breeze ruffled the grass around his comfortable figure as well as the golden locks on top of his head. Everything was calm and peaceful, well, until Sakura showed up.

“NARUTO!” Sakura yelled to the blonde ninja as he fully opened his sleepy eyes to look at his pink haired friend. He could tell she didn’t look to happy at him. In fact she seemed about ready to punch the living daylights out of Naruto.

Shrinking from Sakura’s furious glare Naruto sat up looking to Sakura and immediately feeling small. “What do you want Sakura?” He asked scared to speak but also scared that if he didn’t what would she do to him.
“I’ve been looking all over the village for you! Lady Tsunade has requested for you to go to her office right away, and that was two hours ago!”
The pink haired ninja said irritated with her blonde friend.

Sighing irritably yet slightly excitedly Naruto got up and was about to speak when he saw the look on Sakura’s face that said If you complain or don’t hurry up and get to the Hokage’s office I will not hold back from pounding you into the next universe. Naruto gulped and followed after Sakura without making a sound.

Eventually though, the two friends had made it to the Hokage’s office where Lady Tsunade was now waiting impatiently for the blonde idiot. “Naruto, where were you? I asked Sakura to find you two hours ago! This is unacceptable behavior.”
Lady Tsunade said visibly ticked off. Naruto chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his head as he watched Sakura leave the room and he wished she would stay and protect him from the wraith of the Hokage. Funny how 5 minutes ago he wanted to get away from her more than anything, but, now he wanted her to stay and protect him.

Looking to Lady Tsunade Naruto spoke in a calm voice, feeling terrified on the inside though, hoping this would calm down the female Hokage.
“Calm down grandma Tsunade, I was only taking a break. So, why did you call me? Was it for a super important mission?” Naruto asked his curiosity and excitement growing as well as his hyper activeness. His last mission had been pretty boring. He had to escort an old man from the Hidden Mist Village with Sai. The journey was long and it dragged on even longer as Sai continually commented on Naruto’s……manliness one could say.

Lady Tsunade sighed, reluctantly smiling a bit to herself. Naruto would aggravate her to her last strands of sanity, but, she knew that he was a good kid with a pure heart.

The Kazekage left the seat of his desk and crossed over to the window near it. A pen was in his mouth and he chewed on it as he looked out of the window. He really hated paperwork. It was basically the only thing he disliked about being Kazekage. Putting a hand through his red, messy locks Gaara sighed. Everything seemed so peaceful and calm in his village today.

Naruto had just left the Hokage’s office after being told his mission. Naruto had been eager to get going after being told just a little of his mission. There had been a rumour that Orochimaru had been spotted, or known to have been sneaking around the Hidden Sand Village. It was Naruto’s job to look around the Sand Village and see if the rumors were true or not.

After packing and having a quite bite to eat Naruto set off. His first job, once he had arrived, was to report to the Kazekage’s office. Naruto smiled, remembering who the Kazekage was. Eager to see his old friend and to find Orochimaru, which would eventually lead to Sasuke. Naruto picked up the pace and he arrived at the Sand Village in no time.

The Kazekage was still staring thoughtfully out of his window. The village always looked so beautiful at sunset, the multi-coloured sky of red, orange, yellow, pink, purple and blue. The cool and refreshing breeze that came calmly past, whisking away layers and grains of sand, moving them to new places. Of course, this was all ruined when a large dust cloud came up onto the horizon. From where Gaara was standing it seemed to be coming towards his office. Squinting his darkly shadowed eyes Gaara looked to the cloud finding a familiar orange clad body running towards him.
