• It was a day in July, that at the home of a young woman, a grey cockatile sang in the living room, while a classic 80's movie played, and 3 dogs roamed around around oblivious to any unwanted situation...all the while the girl awakened to a great deal of pain, it was her once trusted friend on top of her, taking advantage of the mistake she had made of getting drunk just a few hours before. It was not the physical pain that caused her the most greif, it was the pain of betrayal, the loss of innocence and trust she had for men. She kicked him off, and yelled at him to leave, before realising, that alone would not stop him..."someone will be home soon, you need to go..its noon, they'll be home any minute now.." she stuttered,s till tooo drunk to make a complete sentence. With that, he finally left, to leave her standing there with only a top on inside out and backwards, her hair a mess and make up smeared around her eyes. When she heard the front door close behind him, she went over and locked it before running out the backdoor to the deck and watched the trees blow in the summer air, and wondered, how could a day be so beautiful all the while a tragedy happens below..she looked to the ground, and there laid a dead golden fench, his beautiful yellow wings spread out as though he'd fallen suddenly from the sky. And just beyond the fence 4 tall sun flowers wilted in the sun, their sorry heads drooping as though they'd been starved of water, even though it had rained just two days before.
Still in a daze she went in and got her phone and called the only person she could think of, a woman from her church named Ashly...she had a hard time explaining what exactally had just happned, but Ashly being a therapist knew well what was going on and came straight over to get her out of the house, worrying the boy may come back at any moment...The girl watched from the upstairs window untill she saw Ashly walk up to the front door and ring the door bell. Ashly's golden blond hair was not one strand out of place , she was about the age of 48, so professional, yet so loving. The girl could feel the tears coming from her eyes, as she could not make herself explaine what had just happened. "No need to talk about this..." Ashly said as she took her by her hand and led the girl to her car. The girl was still greatly impaired, which made ashly worried about her safety walking, she helped her in the car and shut the door, before driving to her house about 20 minutes away. "I wish you wouldnt do this to yourself child" Ashly said "I didnt ask for this you know" the girl said beginning to come to..."I know honey...but I worry, understandably, I have two girls of my own , you know that, you know it kills me to see this kind of thing happen to sweet little girls like you." They turned the corner and pulled into Ashly's driveway, before sitting on the front porch watching the garden attract different kinds of butterflys and birds. "see that plant there?" Ashly said pointing to a funny looking green stalk with a yellow bulb at the end, "thats garlic..you can tell by brusing the leaf with your fingers and smelling its scent" Ashley said. "And over there I'm growing basil"... "Thats neat.." the girl said laying her head on her shoulder, wishing she could leave her own home for good and move states away to the west where, she would be no where near the vile memories. "Your moms gonna wonder where you are, you know." "Thats alright" the girl said, "I'll be home eventually, and then she wont have to wonder anymore". Ashly laughed and told her she'd better give her a call. She did as she was told, and her angry mother answered wondering why the hell she was out with a woman she'd never met. But the girl wasnt phased, she at least knew Ashly was trustable and a long time friend of her fathers. No trouble lasts forever, after all. After a few hours of talking, ashly took her home and told her to call anytime, and that she'll see her at church on sunday. After that day, weeks and months went by, and slowly the girl began to heal, and forget about the tragic day in July. It was a month later, she went again to visit Ashly, two yellow birds played in the bird bath, sunflowers in her garden bloomed, their faces turned towrds the sky, and a beautiful yellow swallowtail landed on a black eye'd susan, opening and closing its wings before taking off into the sky. "Isnt the world wonderful" Ashly said holding the girls hand.."yes it is" she said quietly, with the first real smile on her face she'd had in a long time.
