• Chapter 4: Cierra
Disclaimer: I do not own Diablo, only the OCs.

Upon entering the labyrinth the smell of rotting and burning flesh attacked his nostrils. He staggered at the smell as he covered his mouth and nose.
His sea foam green eyes watered before he finally took a deep breath through his fingers. He pulled from his bag an old cloth that he often used to mend wounds. He tied it around an old stick that he pulled from his bag.
When he lit the makeshift torch he noticed that a corpse sat in the corner the skin began to peel from the face. “No one has been here in years, yet this body seems to be weeks old.”
He walked up to the corpse, the light hit its face reveling it to be a young woman. She would have been pretty in her life time, but now that she was dead and decayed she looked disgusting. He muttered quietly to himself as he noticed that she was about his age.
He looked away as he remembered a lost love from when he was still in Tristram. “Rain what where you doing in this place?” He asked the corpse. He knew that it would not reply, but it hurt him to think that this is what became of her.
A demonic giggle came from the corner and he jumped up to see what it was. A small fallen sat in the corner before it came out and jumped at him. He dodged the attack and pulled his sword, the demon laughed more and jumped up and down.
A gurgling sound came from where the corpse of Rain sat. Tristan turned in time to see it coming to life. He frowned as he watched both Rain and the fallen coming towards him.
He swung his sword and caught the small fallen on the head, severing its head. The fallen slumped to the ground and twitched before it fell motionless to the ground.
“Rain, I know that you are no longer yourself, but I cannot stand to see you like this.” He shouted as the zombie crawled over to him.
He felt as the beast cut into his chain mail. He knew that if he did not fight back that he would die, but the pain from slaying one of his loved ones killed him on the inside.
An arrow came from behind and caught the Zombie through the eye. He looked shocked as she slumped down to the ground. A young woman stood behind the dead thing and smirked.
Tristan held his side as he watched the girl walk over to the body. She looked into Tristan eyes, her amber eyes burned into Tristan’s body.
He stood still as she finally opened her moth to talk, “The name is Cierra.” She said as she searched the body, removing the pendent that the dead demon held.
“Cierra, where have you come from?” He said demandingly as he snatched the pendant from her hands.
Cierra looked at Tristan and looked away, “I travel because my town was taken over by demons so long ago.” She whispered as she held her arm.
Tristan noticed how she looked so sad, a pendant that matched the one that he held in his hands matched the one that Cierra was wearing around her pale neck. “Cierra, what does the pendant mean?” He asked as he handed it back to her.
“This pendant…It belonged to the people of my town, I believe that this girl was either related to my people or she found it while she was traveling.” She held it in her hands and then put it into a bag on her side he noticed that there where many pendants like that one in her bag.
“Cierra…I…” he said as he tried to apologize for how upset she was. She looked away from him, “Just forget I said anything.” She said as she stood up, but not before she removed the arrow from the zombies head.
Tristan sat looking at her, when he noticed something peculiar about her, “Wait, do you have any relations to Rain?” He shouted before he could stop himself. Cierra looked back at Tristan thinking for a second before she would reply. “Maybe, I did, but that was so long ago that I can not remember.”
He noticed a bitter tone to her voice when she said it, but he did not say anything to her. Her midnight hair shimmered in the fire light as she turned her back away from him to go the other way.
Cierra quietly walked the other way as she headed towards the lower level of the labyrinth. “Wait!” Tristan shouted as he thought himself a fool to be attempting to console her and convince her to join him in his quest to slay the demons in the labyrinth.
Her amber eyes looked over at him as though she read his mind, “So, do you have anything that you want to ask me?” she blinked once and then look away waiting for him to talk.
He looked at her face and then open hid mouth, “So, do you want work with me in order to kill Diablo and rid us of the demons?”
Her amber eyes darken for a moment before she finally spoke, “Would you still let me work with you if you knew that for say I was not human?” Tristan was taken aback as he attempted to think of what to say to her to answer her blunt question.
“Well, if you where not human than I would more than likely have to slay you in order to complete my mission.” He said although he thought that it seemed a little blunt considering that he had just met her. He noticed that her amber eyes almost showed a sigh of hurt before she looked away and turned, “Good thing than that I am a human and not something else.
Tristan chased after her, “Wait, can you take me to the third level where a butcher type demon is supposed to dwell?”
Cierra looked over her shoulder before she smirked, “you think that I would do that and you would trust someone that you just now met?”
Tristan looked at her eyes before and he could tell that she was serious about what she was saying.
Cierra smirked again, “Come now, I will show you where the Butcher lays in waiting because you seem so nice and because I will kill you if you turn against me.” Tristan looked into Cierra’s eyes and gulped before he looked away and followed her down one level to level B2.
She looked around and smirked as she jumped down the stairs before she reached the bottom, “put out that torch she hissed through her clenched teeth.
Tristan stared at her, “But why?” Cierra stared at him and let a low growl erupt from her chest.
She pointed and showed demons that where creeping to a hole in the wall. “The well water.” Tristan muttered as he looked at the sight. “I must kill the demons that are there.
“Go on, but don’t expect any help from me, the stairs to B3 are right there.” Cierra pointed to Tristan. She walked deeper into the labyrinth without another word.
Tristan walked into the hole, the sounds of a goat demon assaulted his ears as he looked for something that might give him a hint as to what was poisoning the well water.
He noticed a goat demon walk over to the water and dipped the disgusting axe that it held into the water. He knew that this was the cause of the diseased water supply.
That is enough he thought as he stood up gripping his sword. He charged at the goat and shouted as he swung it. He caught it in the neck, watching as the blood sputtered from his neck.
He went to the others and finished them off just as fast, they seemed like strong demons, but one hit was enough to kill them especially when placed in the right area.
The demons bodies littered the floor as Tristan stood panting. He grabbed an elixir from his bag and dumped a small amount into the water. The water shone crystal clear and he smirked as it was a job well done.
