• The first thought that went into my mind when I was first told that I had stomach cancer was,
"Why me, dammit?!" That thought would soon turn itself to "Oh well, might as well make the most out of my life now." You see, being diagnosed at fifteen years old with cancer is a serious downer. It practically bands you with the emo groups unless you decide for yourself. Which is what I did, of course.
I shook myself out of my reverie and glanced around at gym class. The people here all didn't know I had cancer. Only my parents and the principal. It seems like I was destined to die after all, my parents couldn't afford the surgery treatment required for my cancer.

"Yo, Reiss! Look up!" A voice called out.
I did the most natural thing to do when your name was called. I looked up.
And got a basketball in the face for it.
Yeah, that was me. Derrick Reiss, fifteen year old cancer patient and high school student.
    This is my story.
