• Silence

She felt empty. There was nothing there anymore. She was seated on the bathroom floor in a sea of scattered glass. Though the window above her fell bits of the evening sun into the room. Apart from that it was dark. And quiet.

She felt nothing. Not the room in witch she was sitting, not the pain within her, not the pain she had caused on herself.

Even her head was empty. She thought of nothing anymore. Only one thing haunted her mind. It repeated itself over and over again. Like a mantra. A cruel mantra. A male voice that said only one single line: “I don’t love you. I have never loved you”.

Apart from that there was nothingness.

Her breathing was shallow. As if being in trance she slightly lifted her right arm. Maybe for the hunderth time this day. In her left hand, a glass splinter from the giant mirror that used to hang on the wall oposite her. The one she had smashed a few hours before. Hours that seemed to be an eternity away.

The piece of glass in her hand was covered with blood. As bloody as her lower arm, as bloody as the floor she was sitting upon.

Absolute silence sorrounded her. It was so quiet one was almoust able to hear the silence. It was literally ringing in her ears.

Her face was smuttered with black eyeliner and mascara from crying for hours and hours.

But the tears had stopped ages ago.

She lifted the glass splinter to her wrist. The sharp egdes cut deeply into her flesh but still not deep enough.

Not far from her stood a potions cup. It was once filled with a viscous, green flouid. She had emptied it a while ago. The poison slowly took it’s toll on her body.

Her arms and legs felt heavy. She fully laid herself down on the floor.

A strange but welcomed peace spread through her body.

    She smiled.

And then the silence was definite.
