• Life of a Misfit

    wtf?!?! gonk

”Hey Jen.” a voice called. I knew that voice, but I didn’t know he liked Starbucks. I turned from my chair and I stared smack into his deep blue eyes.
“Hi Luke” I said, trying to keep my voice from not going two or four octaves higher. I mean, really, LUKE MATHEWS is standing RIGHT THERE in front of ME! Common! He’s the most popular guy in school and he is standing by my table, next to me, the dorkiest girl in school. Halleluiah and thank the gods! “What’s up?”
“Not much” he replies and stares me right in the eyes! I dropped my head and stare at his black DC’s. I know its lame. The first time I’ve ever talked to him outside of school and I can’t even look at him. My mouth dries up and I suddenly have this need to chug a bucket of water. “Is this seat taken?”
“No” I reply. No one talks and we get this awkward silence between us. Until, finally, I decide to look up. He’s staring at me still and I’m about to look down again, until I see my best friend Lisa a couple feet away from us. She points at Luke and gives me two thumbs up.
“So, what brings you here” I ask, breaking the silence.
“A little birdie told me you’d be here,” he chuckles. A grin spreads across his beautiful face. Its makes little wrinkles appear at the end of his eyes.
Lisa points at herself and mouths ‘that’s me!’ I roll my eyes as she does her disco victory dance.
“Hey Luke, you’ve met my friend Lisa, right?” I ask as Lisa freezes right in the middle of a hand on hip and pointing to the air move. Luke turns around and giggles under his breath.
“Hey Lisa” he says while Lisa stares bug-eyed at him. She pulls her arms down and smiles.
“Hey Luke” she says as her face and neck turn red.
I check the time. 4:39! I gotta be at home by 5:00! “I got to go” I announce and went to dump my Orange Mocha Frap-a-chino in the Trash Bin. And yes, I got that from Zoolander, which is like on my top 10 favorite movie list. I decided to try it out one day and it was love at first taste.

    Almost kissed heart

I hear foot steps behind me as I exit the store and figure its Lisa. So I keep walking, until he spoke.
“Hey, wait up Jen!” I turn around and Luke jogs up to me. “Let me give you a ride” he says as he stops in front of me.
“Okay.” I squeak, as he leads me to his car. It’s a Ford F-250. ”Wow” I say not being able to help myself. Like my mom says ‘No Filters’.
“I know” he says as he opens my door and helps me up. I love the way his hand feels in mine. I love it so much I almost fall over, but I grab the door before I do.
“Easy there Betsy” he chuckles and keeps his hand in mine, even though I’m in the car. He shuts my door and walks around to his door and jumps in.
The radio plays softly as I give him directions to my house. Then “She’s like Heroin” by System of a down comes on and I’m literally jumping up and down in my seat.
“I love this song” he says.
“No Way!’ I giggle, “me too!” I’m so not the giggly type, but with him around I just can’t help myself. We blast the song on loud and roll the windows down.
Then home comes way too fast and before I know it were in my driveway. I get out of the car and am about to turn around and say thanks when I hear his door open and close. I turn around and he’s walking around his car and heading towards me.
“I’ll walk you to your door.“ he smiles and leads the way. As we walk a breeze comes by as we pass under the tree in my front yard and leaves flow around us. It’s the best moment of my life, ever! We stop at the front door and just stare at each other.
“Well, I’m glad I drove you home.” He says and looks over my head.
    “Me too”
“Well, I guess I’ll see you at school” he says. Then he leans forwards! OMG! He’s going to kiss me. I watch as his hand comes up. Awwww, I’ve always dreamed of a guy cupping my face as he kisses me. I lean forwards a bit. Then he lightly touches my hair and he pulls back. In his hand is a green leaf. Shaped just like the ones in my front yard. I lean back and blush. Why would I even think that? He would never kiss me.
“You had a leaf in your hair” he says as he throws it on the ground. Disappointment wells in my chest. “Well, I’ll see you at school Jen.”
“Kay. Bye,” I say as he walks to his car. I watch as he backs up and takes off. On then, that’s when I let the tears fall from my eyes. crying I try to think of the good side, but can only think of one thing. At least I didn’t pucker.
