• Bang, bang, bang...
If I had a heart... I would have heard it beat a hundred miles per hour.
"Miss, please come." Said a thundering voice on the other side of the shack door.
Think, damn it, think. What would Alex have done?
"Uh... yes. I'll just... Uh..." I hesitated and looked around the room. I swallowed before taking a sniff of the air. The sweet stench of blood wafted up my nose and I could feel my fangs grow to their full size. I regreted taking the sniff.
Alex always told me never to take a breather. Thinking about him never did me any good either since the time he took off. Flashes of pictures came rushing to my head as noises echoed over and over. His saddened face and the sound of rocks tumbling.
"Miss, please come out!" My throat enclosed and a loud growling noise came out of my chest. I barred my teeth and clenched my jaws. I steadied myself, ready to luanch into the old tattered door. it didn't take a muscled vampire to take down a full grown man.
    "Miss?" He asked.
    Now.
I ran, it did't take that long to reach the door, and jumped...
    Bang, crack.
I landed ontop of the man. His eyes were bulging. My fangs. Before thinking about the consequences I breathed in the clear smell of fresh human blood. Oh how I missed it. My mouth opened wide, revealing the full set of white fangs and aimed it towards his major nerves in the neck.
I slammed it down as the man groaned, tensed then relaxed. The taste of sweet chocolate - well how could I have described it? - flooded into my mouth.
"NO, Charlotte!" A familiar voice came from far away.
It's not him... keep drinking. You need the strength.
But apart of me new it was him. I've heard that voice all the time... I've obeyed it.
But the sorrow and loneliness fueled me.
    Whack!
A fist slammed into my face and sent me flying backwards, skidding to a halt on the dusty ground.
I knew it would have been another vampire who did that, it couldn't have been a human.
"Who are you?" The vampire asked, insulted by my behaviour.
I'm a vampire... aren't we meant to drink blood?
I looked up to find Alex crouching over the man's body.
    "I thought -"
"You thought wrong!" He screamed at me. "I would never abandon you."
"But..." I wiped the blood off the side of my mouth. His eyes were wide and angry as he examined the crumpled, pale, lifeless body on the ground.
"I went to find us another clan to help us with our obsession with blood. I found one in Montana. Then I came back and found you sucking the life out of this man's body."
His voice was the same cold tone as before and I realised that he still remembered the time he left.

I felt a pang of depression seeping into my system...
