• A.K.A Wolf Act XIV- Destruction

We are in way too deep now…crap.

As soon as I opened my eyes, I thought I was going to be sick. The immense rush of the scent of blood was enough to make me dizzy and slam the blanket onto my face, desperately trying to smell the comforter instead of blood. I looked to my left to see that Zero wasn’t there. I sort of became panicky, put my pants back on, and sprinted for the door. Not only was there no one in the house, the house was half gone. Split in half, like someone took a huge chainsaw to it. I nearly ripped the door off of it’s hinges and saw that the once ringing with life Nobell look like something out of a nightmare, which I hoped that it was.

Zero and the rest were still now where to be found. I jogged out to the middle of the barely there street and turned this way and that way, searing for the rest of my pack. I blinked into a wolf and ran into every alley, every standing building I could find. Still no one was to be found. I was panting too hard to call for anyone. My claws were making a loud clicking noise every time they touched what was remaining of the cobble stone roads. I kept on running and I came to a sharp corner and when I tried to turn sharply, sparks came from my claws.

That’s new, I thought as I ran for the only building I haven’t checked; the Church.

And of course there was everyone with Kumori and Octa. I breathed a sigh of relief and became human as I walked up a couple flights of stone stairs and up to Zero. I thumped him in the back of the head, “A note would’ve been nice.” I didn’t wait for a response before I bent over, flung my upper body up and flung my hair back. I took a nice inhale of air and rubbed my hands together, “What in the hell happened?!”

Zero fixed a few strands of my hair that were quite out of place, “That’s what we’re trying to find out.” He had a concerned look and not his usual, ‘oh sh*t we’re in trouble look’. It was like and ‘I think we might die’ type of concerned look. I haven’t sent hat look since the fight with Surt-Lim and I didn’t like this whole stupid town to begin with.

Octa cleared his throat, “As I was saying, I believe that it is because you five have come that they did this.”

I had to interrupt, “So, you’re saying this is OUR fault?”

“Not fault but you are the reason for this destruction. Many lives were claimed but that is the price we pay for the Halflings, I suppose.”

I glanced down at Kumori who seemed to be quite infuriated with us. Especially Hotaka.

“Well if we could do anything—“

“Who said we needed your help in the first place?!” Kumori barked up at him. It was the first time I had ever heard her voice and it kind of sounded like a mother’s voice would. I became a wolf again and thought I might have a more productive conversation with her that way.

“Octa kind of did.” I returned in my wolf’s tongue

“I was handling everything just fine. The Scrapers would’ve been such a threat if I had gone to those damn Lilies.”

Just then, everyone except Octa looked at Kumori with knowledge hungry eyes.

“What…did you just say?” I interrogated as I took one step closer and again my claws were abnormally loud on the stone.

“The Red Lilies up in the South Arctic region. Don’t tell me you haven’t heard about it.”

“No, we haven’t heard of it but we have risked life and limb to find them. But what does that have to do with—“

Kumori once again rudely cut me off. God, she’s really getting on my nerves, “The longer you stay near them, the more Special Powers you receive.”

Of course I didn’t believe her. We were near those things for days and nothing happened to us. I went back to my human form and pointed my attention back at Octa.

“I think that it’s best that you six leave Nobell, find the leader of the Scrapers, and kill him.”

Oh yeah. ‘Cause it’s just that simple. Sure what’s the harm in going after a gang leader, which his capability is still unknown to us? And it’s pretty much like swimming into shark infested waters with a blindfold on and pray that you’re just not that appetizing looking that on particular day.

Zero scoffed and began to walk the other way, “Pfft. Fine by me. Just as long as we get out of this dump, I couldn’t be happier!”

I quickly followed Zero but just as my hand joined with Zero’s I felt like I got hit by a train. I was Kumori and she ran at a frightening speed, jumped at me and slammed her head into my back. I flew about 10 feet forward before becoming a wolf, which caused me to land on all for paws. I wriggled my body around until I heard a few relieving pops in my spine.

She had her ears back and her teeth clearly shown, “Who said you could turn your back on me?” Kumori obviously thought that she was the highest wolf and it is strictly forbidden for a lesser wolf to show their back to an Alpha. But, she was completely unaware of what I could do to her obnoxious little mug. I could feel my entire body clench up with adrenaline and anger. This was most definitely a fight I would enjoy way more than I should.

“Well then, how about a Rank Fight, huh?” I barked back with a somewhat joking attitude.

“Don’t mock me, peasant!” She hollered as she charged at me with again incredible speed. Kumori pounced at me and it was almost like her fangs stuck out beyond her mouth in order to cause me injury. I jumped to the right and donkey-kicked her left side. When I went to look at her, she had small claw slits in her fur. I finally had enough time to glance down at my paws and my claws were…METAL!?

I looked over at Zero, “This day just got ten times better.”

I charged at Kumori this time. I grabbed the scruff of her neck and flung her to the ground but she caught herself before her face was part of the ground. I heard her murmur something but I was too fired up to hear. We both ran at each other the next time. I bit her, she bit me, I clawed her, she bit me again, I kicked her in the stomach and she jumped off of me to catch her breath. I didn’t let her regain full fighting strength when I attacked her. My head rammed into her neck and she fumbled to the ground. I stood over her and locked my teeth around her neck. I wasn’t going to kill her but that’s one way of establishing yourself. She managed wiggle out of my teeth and her swiped her sharp claws over my face, leaving four nice gashes on my cheek. I blinked into my human form and before she could even escape, my gun was mere inches from Kumori’s face.

“I win.” I said panting with a smile.

Just like that Kumori was gone. Did she disappear? Oh, no she didn’t. As soon as I looked up I saw the last thing I expected; an arrow pointed at my face.

I saw Zero take a half step towards me but I held up a hand to say everything was completely under control, I hope.

Guess what little b*tch was holding that bow and arrow? The human Kumori was. Her hair was short and dark brown. Some thick tendrils, each longer than the hair behind it, covered most of her human ears. She had on a tan bikini top and bottom with a loincloth type thing made out of animal hide around her waist. Some long, slitted brown gloves came above her forearm. Her boots were around knee height and had one strap at the top, which was locked in place with a metal buckle.

“No, I believe I do.” She returned with a cocky smile.

I returned her smile but my face stung as blood began to crawl out of the claw marks on my cheek. I pointed my gun back up at her human face, “You do know what I hold in my hand is a gun and with one twitch of my finger, you could be lying in a pool of your own blood.”

My threat didn’t seem to faze Kumori in the least, “And did you know that if my hand relaxes for even a millisecond, this arrow is going straight though that ugly head of yours.”

I gritted my teeth together and let my gun down at my side and waited for Kumori to do the same with her weapon but there was something that even Zero didn’t expect. Before Kumori even realized what hit her, I slammed my gun into her face, knocking her out instantly.

“I told you, I win.” I said angrily over her bruised body.

I glanced back at Zero with a smile but then a throb of pain echoed throughout my body. Everywhere Kumori drew blood was on fire. I fell to my knees and almost let out a scream but then it was gone, like it never happened. Even though I was fine now, Zero was right there, “Hey are-are you ok?”

I gave him a reassuring smile and showed him a thumbs up, “Just peachy.” He helped me to my feet with a chuckle and examined all of my injuries, which didn’t disappear like they should’ve.

Hotaka went to look at Kumori and see if she was ok and not I. “I’m fine, Hotaka. Thanks for asking,” I snapped sarcastically. He didn’t seem to react which pissed me off even more. I rolled my eyes angrily with a groan. Zero just laughed again and flung me into a piggyback ride back to Octa.

I rested my chin on Zero’s shoulder, “You want us…to travel with her!?” I yelled as I pointed to Kumori who was now fully conscious and livid. I saw how Hotaka tried to help her walk but she just pushed him away, quite hard from what I could see.

“There is no way I’m going with these idiots, father Octa and there’s no way you’re going to make me!”

“Go or Nobell will never be the same again,” he replied bluntly.

“Tch! Dammit!” Kumori muttered and then stormed off into the trees that brushed all of the outer buildings of the city.

“She’ll be fine. She’s just never been able to connect with people,” Octa tried to explain with a nervous smile.

I jumped down form Zero’s back, “Yeah. Whatever.” But as soon as I tried to take a step, I couldn’t feel the leg I was pressing on and almost fell if Zero hadn’t caught me…again. Zero just rolled his eyes and threw me over his shoulder with my upper body looking behind him.

“You took a good beating, Yukiru. When the morning comes, you’ll be good as new.”

I pressed my elbow onto one of Zero’s shoulder blade and rested my chin in my palm. I hope so. That chick’s got something up her nonexistent sleeve and if she doesn’t come clean soon, she won’t have enough time to pull that stupid bow and arrow out before I drive some lead into her. I can understand not wanting help from five strange people who are just like you but when your home has been completely obliterated, it’s almost, no, it IS insulting to still not want help.

Octa asked us to clean up all of the bodies and make graves for them as best we could and take out all of the moveable debris before we set for out half-of-a-home. It was twilight outside by the time we finished and I was exhausted. I felt like such a weakling though, I could only help for about 30 minutes at a time before my injuries would continue to bleed again and I would risk fainting or infection. I felt fine but neither Zero nor Hotaka would allow me to work after my limit.

Ichio and Sparks would take up the work I couldn’t and Ichio got himself hurt when a rock fell on one of his paws and almost broke it. As soon as we were allowed to stop I was getting ready to just collapse and sleep for months. But of course there was the whole, ‘you need to get to the house first’ argument I had with Zero. It was strange because the house lights still worked and the water still ran. For the first time since I became human, I took a human shower. It was really weird, the water came out of a spout coming out of the wall and you can control the temperature and everything. I just got rid of all of the dirt and used some special concoction Hotaka called “shampoo” and used it to wash my hair.

After I was done, I wrapped a towel, which just so conveniently seemed to be on the rack next to the shower stall, around myself and stepped into the upstairs bedroom only to see that Zero was sitting on the bed like he was last night. The upstairs was completely untouched. And since the bottom was in half, Hotaka, Ichio and Sparks all shared the same room as Zero and I. It was big enough though that we could hang one of the bed sheets and split it in half so that Zero and I had our half and they had theirs. I think it was by Hotaka’s sick hand that he allowed myself and Zero had the bed and they just laid some spare blankets down and used them as beds.

As soon as I saw Zero I lunged back into the bathroom to change into my torn clothes. I didn’t see the point in wearing a tank top that had a huge tear in the front and one broken strap but I guess it’s better then just a bra. My hair was soaked so when I walked over to Zero, I shook my head vigorously and got a good bit of it on Zero.

“Thanks,” he said with slight sarcasm.

I flung my head back and my hair made a nice sweeping motion until it smacked against my back, “Your welcome.”

I sat down on the bed and Zero left for the bathroom that was about 20 feet away form the bed. He took longer than me in the shower, which I found odd because I had far more hair than he did. But when he exited the bathroom he was in his wolf from and dripping wet. He showed me a slightly evil grin and I knew what he was going to do.

    “Don’t you da—“

Zero shaking all of the water on his wolf body onto me interrupted me. I was once again soaked and with a white tank top on and a non-padded bra, well…. you get it. I stood up flung my head forward and then back again to dry my hair off once again. But when I looked up, Zero was human, shirtless and his jeans were unbuttoned and unzipped.

My face grew scarlet red and I planted my bottom onto the bed and covered my face with the comforter.

“P-put something on! You’re embarrassing me!” I said behind the blanket.

I glanced up and there he was, mere inches from my face, “You know that thing you do with your hair is pretty sexy.”

    Wait…WHAT!?

Before I did anything I glanced over at the other’s side and their lantern was off and no sounds or talking was coming from it so I knew that they had been asleep so I guess maybe some fun with Zero wouldn’t hurt.

When I looked back at Zero he just jumped right into a kiss, no warning, no sweet talk just like that. He was so eager to begin that he forced me to lay on my back and his torso pressed on mine. It took me a while to catch up with his speed but once I did I couldn’t even breathe. After a few minutes I couldn’t I couldn’t’ even keep my arms around his neck, I was getting tired and light headed, but that didn’t stop Zero.

His hands remained restless from my lower back all the way up to the base of my skull. He was persistent too, never letting up his insanely fast pace. All of a sudden, my adrenalin kicked in and I latched onto Zero’s snow-white hair like my life depended on it while the other was being pinned down by Zero’s overpowering hand. As I brought my legs onto the bed, he let go of my wrist and swiftly swung my legs fully onto it. He wasn’t hurting me or scaring me but I was becoming less confident that this was the farthest we would go tonight. By now, he was completely on top of me and our movement were completely in sync; our lips our jaws, the way we rotated our heads and even the way we taunted each other with our tongues.

I separated out lips for a fraction of a second and Zero immediately began assaulting my neck in the best way possible. He even nibbled on my earlobe just to tease me.

“Z-Zero…I can’t. I’m so tired…” I panted as I tried my best to tell him that I probably wasn’t going to be able to continue for much longer. And I was happy to realize that our kissing was becoming less and less violent and well…tongue-filled. When we finally dissolved to small pecks I felt so incredibly exhausted I could barely keep my eyes open. My hands fell from Zero’s hair and I lightly pressed my hands against his bare chest, “I’m sorry I had to cut this short.”

“Sorry for what? Just get some sleep, and what do you say we’ll pick this up tomorrow night?” The slight sly and sneakiness in his voice nearly triggered me to go after him again but I decided against it and fell asleep.

    {{Quick Zero’s Perspective}}

She was so tired from beating Kumori, cleaning Nobell that I would’ve been worried if she didn’t get tired. I brushed some hair form Yukiru’s face quietly said goodnight and quietly layed next to her. I almost fell asleep as well but something caught my attention there was a small chuckle that came from Hotaka’s side of the sheet.

I grumbled, walked over to the sheet and yanked it open only to see Hotaka fall over from laughter.

“She-she fell asleep on you, Z! FAIL! Bahahahahahaaaa!!!”

I could feel a vein in my forehead throb as I clenched up my right fist, “Hotaka…I’m going to kill you now.”

He apparently didn’t hear me, “Wha…what?”

I slugged him once on the top of his head and immediately a bump formed, “Your such an idiot, Hotaka. Get to sleep and maybe I won’t rip your nuts off.”

When I got back to the bed I saw Yukiru’s shoulder’s twitch, followed by a giggle.

“Oh, KiKi, not you too.” I groaned when I climbed under the blanket.

“You’re just so cute when your angry,” I heard her say again followed by a small yawn.

I’m not supposed to be cute. I was seriously pissed at Hotaka for spying on us. But I still got a little pink when Yukiru said it. I just hope tomorrow will be better and not aggravating.
