• Chapter 7 Changing from light to darkness

Dammit dammit dammit dammit. It was Tuesday night, 11:58 P.M. I paced back and forth dreading what was to take place within the next minute and 32 seconds. I looked at my watch as my pace increased. One minute now. Damn how much longer am I gonna have to wait dammit? Unbenounced to me I had an audience. Kira-san and the others were watching me silently from a distance,

"What is he doing?" Marco-kun asked.

"Not sure. Looks like he's waiting for something," Kagome-san piped in.

"Maybe it’s some type of special training," Kira-san said.

    3...2...1!

"AGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" I screamed as my change started. My true form was starting to appear, and Jesus did it hurt. All the other times are fine. The pain is there but it's bearable. These times are different. It's going against my will and causing immeasurable amounts of pain. I felt my back start to pulsate and throb as my wings were about to burst out. A rush went straight to my head. My body arched forward as my wings seem to rip out of my back. My tail also came shooting out my tail bone like a cannon. It made me hunch over on the ground. The last two changes made my head throb unimaginably. My human ears shrank into my skull as my fox ears reappeared on my head. My eyes also changed from brown to yellow. The transformation was done.

"This is my truth. This unholy freak of nature," I said looking at my hands. My finger nails grew long and sharp, making claws. I sighed and looked at the half moon.

"Why do I have to be this way?" I asked myself. The others looked on in awe and amazement. That is till one of them stepped on a small branch.

SNAP! My head whipped around. Growling at the source of the noise. My growl lowered as my rage left me. I looked at my friends. My frame outlined in the light. I looked down in despair.

"Sano-chan...” Kira-san started. I took to the sky before she could finish. I soared till I was in the heart of city. I landed on a roof top and sat on the ledge. My right leg hung off the side as I hugged onto my left. My mind raced as I sat there. Why am I the one who has to be this way? Why dose this stuff happen to me? I feel so alone in my struggle and strife.

"Someone help!!!" A cry rang out. I looked down to see a young girl with black hair dart down the alley way behind me. She was dressed in a white kimono. Her green eyes shown through like the moon through a clouded night sky. Her attacker was chasing her through. They made it to the other side when she stepped into the street. I saw a truck barreling down. The driver was asleep. I sprang to my feet and ran along the ledge. The girl tripped into the street. I jumped off the ledge and opened my wings. The girls face looked terrified as the truck was about to hit her. I scooped her up and dodged the truck by a feather’s breath. I took to the sky flapping hard, trying to get altitude. The girl had her eyes closed tight clutching my shirt. She finally opened an eye to see herself soaring above the streets and buildings. She looked up at me. Her green eyes seem to gaze at my.

"You ok?" I asked her. She caught herself staring and started to blush a little.

"Yes, thank you," she said burring her face into my chest. I ignored it. She must have been scarred. I landed in a park and placed her on a bench. I looked at her, she looked at me. I took to the sky again without a word. My wings stretched out to their full span. My mind finally began to calm. I started thinking clearly. Maybe I should go back to Kira-san's place. They would understand what this is like. Maybe.

"Spears of Stone!!" I heard someone call out. A large cluster of stone spears started to climb from the ground and rain down one me. Go figure. I quickly maneuvered into a dive. My wings pressed tightly against my body. My speed increased in leaps and bounds as I rushed to the ground. My ears pinned to my head, I hurtled downward. Gaining more and more speed, till something caught my eye. Another set of Stone spears came barreling at me from the front. I spread my wings in instinct, and forgot about the ones behind me. I quickly drew the sakabato (reverse blade katana) I always kept at my side.

"Fushicho-Ryu!!! Rotation Blade!!" I called as I whipped around deflecting the spears. A couple of spears hit my wings. I had to land. I descended to the ground. Once on the ground I looked around for a safe spot to lay low. I didn't feel the string of vines wrap around my legs. When they started to constrict is when I noticed. I summoned a small fire blast to burn these buggers. Though it didn't work. The vines absorbed the flames and continued to grow. I shot off more blasts of fire, but to no avail. I knew it was pointless but I was panicked.

Gradually these vines wrapped around my entire body. Holding my arms straight out, and my legs tightly constricted. My body in the form of a cross, with my wings spread out behind me. My sword lay on the ground. I struggled against the vines with all my strength, but it was no use. My tail whipped about behind me as my rage grew. For a few moments I was stuck like this, alone and desperate for freedom. That is till my capture walked into view.

"So you’re the hybrid I've heard so much about," cooed a sensual voice. A woman walked into my line of sight. She was wrapped in a dark green Chinese dress with golden trim around the openings for the arms and legs. It was slight up to her thigh. As she walked her swagger showed she was wearing high heels. Her hair was also a very deep emerald green. Tied tightly behind her in two small buns. Her eyes were also that deep shade of green. You could lose yourself in them. Yet at the same time very daunting and evil. On her lips was dark green lipstick. Her arms had fine gold armbands and bracelets.

"Yuroto Sanosuke-kun, right?" She asked wrapping an arm around her stomach and placing her other hand to her chin. She peered at me with those eyes. My own yellow eyes glared back at her. She smiled at me.

"Your wondering who I am aren’t you?" she asked me.

"Why should I answer? You reek of dragon funk," I barked back at her. She smirked.

"Well you sure know how to make a girl feel all gooey inside," she cooed again. She walked over to me. She placed her hand against my shirt. Within a second the shirt was torn and my bare chest was exposed with a slight cut. In her hand was what looked like a small vine with lots of thorns on it. She licked her hand and looked at me seductively.

"Tasty," she said with a grin. I flushed a little, but it turned to a glare.

"You’re a dragon aren’t you? Then why don’t you kill me already?" I sneered at her. She looked up at me.

"Silly little demon. You’re wrapped in my vines. I could have killed you at any moment. But then I wouldn't have had the chance to talk to you," she said with a smile. "So tell me, my little fox-bird, have you ever been ripped apart before?” she asked smirking. I didn’t answer. She sighed.

“You’re not gonna talk to me are you my little turtle dove? Maybe you’ll talk to him instead,” she said motioning to the person lurking in the shadows. A tall slander man walked out of the shadows. His features were so familure to me. Yet so different. He wore a dark blue jacket, black tee shirt with the kanji Tsuchi in brown and black jeans. And on his face was a smile I’d know anywhere.

“Jonuku?” I asked in a bit of shock.

    “surprised?” he scoffed at me.

“Not really. Scum normally collects,” I barked back. He just smiled a huge grin. His teeth had become fangs. The girl walked over to him and wrapped her arms around his neck.

“This strapping young man is my newest friend. My father deemed him worthy of being an emissary of chaos. Just like me,” she said placing her head on his shoulder. My eyes widened.

“Your father?” I asked. She smiled a devilish smile.

“That’s right. My name is Ryuuken Ruki. The dragoness of the forest,” she cooed. I knew she was involved with the dragons. But I never guessed that the great dragon of chaos had a daughter. So she is the one trying to revive him.

“Oi Sano. You have bigger problems,” Jonuku said ramming his fist into my stomach over and over again. I started to cough up blood from the increasing force of the attacks. I hunched over. My arms and legs still restrained. I looked up at him and glared.

“Calm down Jonuku. We’re here to deliver a message,” Ruki said walking over to my limp body.

“You won’t live long enough to see the end of this war. Kill him,” she said with a smile. Jonuku touched the ground slightly with his hand. When his hand started to raise a spear followed it. My mind began to race. I’m gonna die! I’m gonna die! I’m gonna die!

“Have a nice afterlife, demon boy,” He said with a fang filled grin. My eyes widened. My mind went blank. The next thing that happened was sheer bliss. And a will to live. I felt my muscles tighten, my wings flap, my tail twitch uncontrollably. My head filled with rage as my demonic powers mixed with my phoenix powers. Creating an unholy black flame that burned away Ruki’s vines. Once my body was free, I just stood there hunched over. My eyes started to change again. They willed with a red hot feeling as my sight became blurred. I looked up and saw the faces of Jonuku and Ruki, and had only one thought; kill them. With blinding speed my tail snatched my blade from the ground and tossed it into the air. With the same momentum my body lurched forward and rammed my palm deep into the chest of Jonuku. Sending him flying. Ruki reeled back and watched as more black flames oozed from my body like a thick fog. My eyes now red with anger glanced at her. My blade fell from the sky and back into its sheath on my side.

“I’m going to kill you first,” I snarled. I leaned forward in a dash stance when I saw Jonuku attempt to strike me from behind. I drew my sword and blocked his overhead attack. I dashed behind him and caught him with a fury of attacks. As he dropped I could feel my rage starting to cool. The black flames began to disapate. My eyes changed back. I was myself again. But I was way to tired to fight.

“What was that just now?” I asked. Ruki came back into view.

“That was the forbidden flame. You accessed it,” she said glaring at me. Her outfit had changed. She wore baggy pants, and a Chinese shirt. Her hair now in one long ponytail. She was serious now.

“I was warned not to get you into a state of bliss. Otherwise your demon energy and Phoenix energy would mix into the forbidden flames,” she said. She walked twords me. Two intertwined roots shot out of the ground in front of her as she walked to me. She grabbed them and pulled. Out of the ground came two extreamly large battle axes. The first thing that shot through my mind was, holy s**t. I was way too tired. She raised roots from the ground and tied my hands to the ground. She raised one of the axes high above her head.

“A mistake I wont make again,” she said looking down at me. She positioned the ax right above my neck. Swinging at full speed, the ax was about to sperate my head from my body. Out of the distance the singing of an arrow shot past, hitting the ax’s blade and shattering it before it could cut me. In a tree nearby, a archer was pearched. The long bow withdrawn out of sight. Another arrow whistled by and nearly pierced Ruki’s neck. She was able to dodge it with inches to spare. Her neck was grazed and started to bleed. The next few arrows were aimed at my arms. Freeing me from the vines that held me down. My wings beat hard against the ground, kicking up as much dust and dirt as possible. With Ruki distracted I took off running as fast as I could. It wasn’t fast, but it was fast enough to escape. I headed into the woods. I knew I wasn’t safe. This was clearly Ruki’s element. Wood and plant life, obeyed her every whim. My head racing. Who was helping me?

“Warrior of the land and sky, up here,” I heard a girls voice say. I looked up. A girl drapped in a dark brown cloak dropped to the ground in front of me. She looked through a slit in the cloak. She looked at me with bright yellow eyes.

“Follow me,” she said grabbing my arm and running. I stumbled for a few minutes till I had enough energy to start running. She looked back a few times to make sure I was still behind her. We continued till we were at another opening. A park, with a blacktop basketball court. I stopped to catch my breath.

“Who are you?” I finally managed to get out. She took off the hood of her cloak. She had honey blonde hair, and those bright yellow eyes.

“My name is Wataro Meia. One of your kind,” she said showing me her gauntlet. Just like Marco-kun’s, only lighter. She looked back twards the forest. Her eyes scanning every moving thing out there. I was way to tired, but I asked anyway.

“Why did you bring me here?” I asked about to collapse.

“Because we have a pick up to a safe place for you to lay low,” she said, Just as she said that Ruki and Jonuku burst out of the forest. Spears began to rain down from the sky as waves of thorned vines raced our way.

“Oni-san. Now!” she shouted. A huge black mist surrounded us. It solidified and blunted the force of the spears and repelled the vines. Another figure walked up to us. He wore the same outfit as we all do. A white tee shirt with long black sleeves. Black jeans. Two jet black gauntlets on his arms. On his back in a haulster was a naginata, with a long black shaft. His eyes were shut, but he knew what was going on. The mist began to close in on us, surrounding us in perpetual darkness for a few minutes. The darkness faded soon. The 3 of us were somewhere new to me.

“This is our home,” the young man said. He opened his eyes. The outside was black, while the puple itself was white. I looked around for a few seconds. It was an apartment, filled with stacks of books. My power draining I asked one final question.

“Where are we?” He glanced over at me, which felt like knives going through my heart. Like I knew what he was about to say would have a lasting effect.

“Osaka,” he said. My mind went black. And so did everything else
