• For now she just wanted to learn who this creature in front of her was. The name was tugging at the back of her mind. It was just out of reach. Names flew across her head, but none of them seemed right for him. She let a sigh out and slouched further into the chair. Obviously Ashlee would need more time to regain her memories, if they ever fully came back. For the moment she could recall her name and her parents, plus some small things of birthday-parties, cramming for midterms and things of that sort. Nothing major had fallen into place. Nothing important had come to her. It was like a heavy fog had drifted over her and the harder she tried to look through it the more difficult and concealed it all became. Realizing she had been staring at the visitor for all this time, she redirected her gaze to one of the dim lights.
Clearing his throat, he stood up and declared that he would go get a doctor. In a manner of seconds he was out the door, leaving Ashlee to submerse herself in thoughts. She went to a private school for gifted students, but what was its name? She was a skilled fighter and took three different defense classes. On breaks she spent her time with her mom and dad in a small town. What town? Her close friend was a tall blond girl, who had full pink lips and round hazel eyes. She took two of the same defense classes. It seemed Ashlee’s biggest problem was names. She couldn’t remember her friend’s name or the name of her school, and she couldn’t remember the name of her home town. The only names she could remember where her own and her parents. Deep in thought, Ashlee didn’t hear the door open or close as her visitor and a man in a white doctor’s coat entered. Maybe there wasn’t a sound. The doctor shone a light in her eyes, took her temperature and asked her a few questions. After declaring her fine with the exception of amnesia that should clear up, Ashlee was free to go back to her dorm and prepare for classes Monday.
As they walked through the halls, Ashlee tried to take in all her surroundings to see if anything would click. The architecture of the entire school was gothic and most of the buildings had been painted black. Hall ways where done up in a blue-gray marble with no lockers. This was not an ordinary private school, but Ashlee couldn’t find the reason for that.
